Old one stopped bumping so I’m making a new one.

The Quest for the Curry God continues. Really nice Dungeon Crawler here. It’s so sad that it went largely unnoticed due to it being exclusively released on the Vita. It gained a lot of popularity with it’s recent PC release. I wish it didn't happen, though I probably wouldn't have played it if it came out only on the PC.

So, what have you been playing lately?

Eh. unless they come with their own set of maps, weaponset mods are a gimmicky at best really mindnumbing experience. I guess its fine if you wana go on a power fantasy trip but meh.
Ive been playing a lot of Valiant lately, it's such an amazing mappack. They changed the weapons, giving you a faster chain gun and pistol, but its balanced with the new imp and pyro knight. A lot of thought was put into the design of the map to accommodate all the changes in the gameplay.

The guy who made high noon drifter also did DemonSteele. There is a version of Speedof Doom designed specifically for that type of gameplay. Check it out. It's a lot of fun

https://pso2.com/news/announcements/pso2ngsinformation

I had a longass post that got ate but essentially they're gonna do a graphics + gameplay overhaul of PSO2, but the new content is going to be separate from all the old content but using the same engine so the old content is just getting a graphics update.

That doesn't seem bad, but they only just released the 8+ years of old content here in the US and now they're gonna make everyone start over again because they feel PSO2 is too dated now and can't compete with games like nitefort or whatever else your adhd child consumes

I was looking forward to, y'know, playing all that content with other people, but now they're saying any progress (that isn't cosmetic) you make there isn't carrying over to the new system so they're basically making PSO3, which means there's not gonna be any new content for PSO2 after they translate everything, which is far from healthy for a MMO.

Apparently this overhaul was announced in July and PSO2 released on Steam in August so I mean... I don't even know what to think. They finally got around to giving it to us and now they're making an alternate universe sequel? To a MMO? Where the only things that carry over are cosmetics and emotes? I never felt there was anything particularly wrong with the gameplay in PSO2, not everything has to be a Monster Hunter/Dark Souls clone but it looks like that's what they're going for.

On one hand, cool, update, on the other, everything I did in PSO2 already and everything I can do now has no value because they're making a sequel and stuff (that isn't pointless cosmetics) isn't carrying over.

I guess there's no reason to grind anymore, at least. Might as well just plow through the content on easy mode and see+kill everything once then wait for this remake to happen.

I've heard the sequel is just as good, if not better, but the late game turns in to a grind if you don't want to pay extra to unlock good units. Yes they somehow worked loot crates into a game that is more or less single player.

don't spend 10 minutes double-checking an entire stage after the boss. new people seem to not even notice the difficulty timer ticking away. balancing time versus item collection is key.

Someone was recommending this game in the previous BWP thread so I decided to try it.

Overall, Its been good. Its a fun little dungeon Crawler. nothing too difficult, I would say the difficulty is just about right for any beginner in the genre.
My only issue with it is, some of the Jobs that you change too just aren't as good as the others. You can easily end up with something terrible or beyond your means at that stage in the game and lock yourself out from using this character effectively. It happened to me in the beginning and I had to restart a 30 hour playthrough to get do it properly.
The problem is, that also had its own set of problems. Some of the jobs are too effective?

I'm only in chapter Four, and Cinderella as a destroyer fucking decapitates the enemies. I cant stop her, she's too strong. She overkilled the boss in one hit. It just kinda made the game a bit boring. I was really having fun with it, trying to figure out which is the best class but I guess I over did it.

i don't know, I don't like it when the game gives you an option to break it this early on. It's just, you want to do everything you could to make your team as strong as they can be without holding back, and now I have to if I want to enjoy the challenges the game provides. I hate that. I cant reload a previous save and start all over again and choose a shitty class on purpose. That's dumb. Increasing the difficulty doesnt change anything, I still kill everything in one hit.

Interesting story, not your average JRPG. Every character seem to be broken on some kind of level but they're all good people. at least, I think so. Not really sure if the characters really resemble the fairy tale characters they represent. I still like them.

Having a real terrible time playing this game now since im way too OP for everything. When it comes down to it, maze-like dungeon crawlers are worthless once you reach a certain level. I'm not dungeon crawling anymore, just a rat in a maze. Its all too repetitive, and the environment aren't all that inspired. I think I would've been fine if it looked better, or more scenes played out between stages, but there is really nothing of the sort. I cant even draw the map myself like in Etrian Odyssey, or have to be wary of traps. The quests are simple item fetch stuff, and the music isn't all that good.

Dang. I still don't know why they gave me access to the higher level dungeons so early in the game. I couldn't help it, those enemies gave good exp and I learned to abuse the system and now I've gone and ruined the thing for myself.
I guess a dungeon master such as myself should learn to hold back when dealing with entry-level dungeon crawlers. I'm gonna try to rush the thing
looking at maps and such then move on to something else.

I'm enjoying PSO2.

Kinda wish hunters had a better gap-closing skill to start with, playing one means running up to stuff your ranger/force allies already killed a lot of the time. Playing Force on the other hand means you just shoot a wave of fire or throw fireballs or radiate a ring of fire or become fire among many other elements and variations. There's some slick melee/gunnery special attacks too, but I haven't seen those myself since JP, disks are relatively expensive and my meseta is not endless.

it's funny the first couple games someone does it, then it's just a waste of time before joining a new game.

what you should always do, however, is get gestures of the drowned and some fuel cells for your equipment item, then switch to meteor 40 minutes into the run. (gotta make sure everyone's got enough time invested that they won't immediately disconnect.)

I don't know what it is about this game. It checks everything on the list, but it does it all so badly. You just lose interest in the story because its all one bad thing after the other. And the game play is just going through the motions. Once you land in Monarchy, it all becomes clear how lazy it is. Beasts just charge you as soon as they see you, no matter how much bullets or damage you do to them. it's just me running backwards all the time now. I should've went for a melee built, maybe that would make it more fun.

I figured my first play through I didn't have any companions so maybe this time it will be a little more interesting. It isn't.

Tomb Raider 2013
Is like to be a womb raider, heyo.

Picked this shit up for 3 dollars. Fun stuff so far, the combat is boring even though the guns sound and feel pretty good, stealth and cover is kind of strange lara just goes into combat mode no button to crouch or anything and man I wish I could disable the camera wobble.
Besides that lara feels pretty nice to control I like that her jump is really floaty and fun for platforming type stuff and there seems to be a lot of secrets and treasures to find in this really pretty world. I'll take this over uncharted any day tbh.

The issue with it is it doesn't get better. not even in the sequels. its just the same mundane shit. I'm not even a fan of Uncharted, but I can recognize it has better writing and the gunfights get more intense.

I was like you, I thought I was enjoying the game for what was, but really I just loved watching NuLara die in horrible ways. You know she's really popular with sfm and blender Artists because the game is jampacked with her VA moaning all the time. They don't even have to bother hiring someone, they can just take it from the source material. It's fucked up. I kinda like it.

Havin fun in PSO2

I like the depth to using some techs, like how a charged fireball has a hitbox that will stop on an enemy, but it has a radius around the hitbox that deals full damage but will not impact on an enemy, so if you shoot between two enemies that are close together or slightly to the side of a line of foes, you can hit them all with one shot, dealing full damage to every hit enemy. And that's just the first fire spell. There's 6-7 spells for each of the 6 elements, and a few spells have craftable custom modifiers that change the way the spell works, like Safoie is normally just a wide fan of flame in front of you, but Safoie Zero turns you into a controllable fireball that can home into locked on enemies and creates a ring of fire on impact. Plus there's a few combo techs like Fomelgion that shoots a big honkin laser of dark+fire energy, or Zandion that turns you into a bolt of lightning that leaves tornadoes in it's wake.

I know in JP I had a double saber PA that was literally M. Bison's Psycho Crusher and a knuckles PA that was the Kamen Rider Kick and it's the kind of thing that's awesome every time you use it but I don't know what their EN names are and good disks are expensive.

Ehh, I dunno. Might as well play it while we have it, I think. Who knows when the remaster will actually come out or if it will be as good as is it now anyway. There's plenty of people playing through the content right now, most people are at the level cap of 80, sure, but with 8 different classes you can swap between anytime that all level independently there's usually people to play with at every level of content, plus I believe it has cross-platform support so you play with people on console too. Remaster definitely won't be til next year and they're gonna retool half the game so the PSO2 we have now will be a different game.

It's free to play so if you play it and like it you might as well enjoy it while there's the big influx of users on Steam. I did spend 12 bucks to increase my personal inventory from 50 to 90 but I had also played a lot of JP and couldn't pay then, and I've paid more for far worse games in the past. There's 8+ years of content to play, so I mean... I posted about the remake and I don't feel there's anything particularly wrong with the current formula, it's just a little dated because it is so old and it's not easy to keep a MMORPG alive for a long time. (considering that their endgame is not really better stats, but largely cosmetic things, the remaster to improve graphics makes sense)

I'm glad I saw it through to finish this game. I wasn't feeling any of the side quests, but the story itself was pretty decent. The ending was good too. Gameplay was pretty solid. I chose to kill Shimura, because why the fuck wouldn't you? At that point you've brought enough shame to the Sakai clan. All of his respect his lost, and sparing him would have been a huge "fuck you."

Anyway, I don't care enough to keep playing. Norio's side quests are boring as hell, and I don't feel like eliminating the rest of the Mongol areas. I just want to move on to the next game in my backlog. Preferably Persona 5 Royal.

IIRC, my friend told me it’s easier to max out confidents in this game, so I’m glad I won’t have to do two playthroughs. So far, that’s what I know. Thieves Den also seems really useless.

I only played the Original. Never got around to paying full price for the "Royal" edition. Im still kinda mad about it, the og game felt incomplete and I realize now more was planned for the game that didnt make it to the rushed version.

Re-releasing the same game on the same console with some extra content after the fans already paid full price for the first one is a sleazy way to squeeze more money out of the fanbase. Something I never expected Atlus would do, but here we are.

At least in the past, they would re-release it on a handheld, and add some features and a new way of play it like the FeMc scenarios. but from what ive read, there is none of that, just more events to flesh out the characters and some mini games. There is no reason to play the OG game. Its not a different experience, but rather an incomplete one. So I stil refuse to pay full price for the complete edition and wont play it until it will eventually be re-released again on the PC or the switch.

Been playing through Hitman 2 again. I really love how they changed the series to focus more on replaying a level multiple times, than previously where it was more levels but more limited in terms of size and opportunities.

I've played Miami over and over many times, 100%d the map, and I love how this year I can still find out new things, like the flamingo, dolphin and Stig exits.

Then I was talking to him last week and mentioned Escalations, which he had no idea about. He's spent 20 hours since then now trynna do Master difficulty and speedruns and escalations and all that kind of stuff, which was kinda cool for me to see.

It's good if you get a good lobby, because the main appeal of the game is interacting with the other people and trying to deduce/trick other people. If you get a couple of friends in there, it's pretty good, but I've had fun just playing solo as well.

If you want to test it out, it's free on phone and has crossplay with PC, so you can play it on phone before figuring if you want to buy it on PC.

Now that I think about it, that seems about right. Akechi and Kasumi were shoehorned pretty hard in the Royal related content. Kasumi is even worse because she’s really fucking insignificant to the story until you reach the endgame. What’s laughable is how Atlus wanted to charge $14 for Kasumi’s costumes.

I’m annoyed that I wasn’t able to max out Futuaba and Haru in time for the final boss. Everyone in the party has an opportunity for a “third awakening” persona if you max out their confidents. All I know is that I’m definitely not down to do play NG+. I love I had for Persona 5 isn’t quite there anymore like it was during vanilla.

I get the feeling shes pretty much Maria from Persona 4 except worse. Just really shoehorned into the game but plays an insignificant part in it. Alechi I can understand seeing how popular he is with the fans and is part of the story, but Kasumi is just meh. I even heard she doesnt actually become a part of the thieves except for one dungeon which makes me dislike her even more.

I dont know, im glad I didnt jump on it when it was released. I wish both Marie and Kasumi were actually the FeMC of their respective games like it was with P3P and P2 EP. It was interesting seeing the game from a female prespective and dating all the boys but sadly they never did it again.

Man, sounds like both Futaba and Haru didnt get enough time to max the confidents comfortably even in the Royal Edition. That fucking sucks. This always happens with persona games, one of the characters gets introduced late in the game and you have to rush maxing their confident.

I think after finishing the Original and Royal I would've pretty much had enough too.

Gave Minecraft on PSVR another try, after remapping controls to mostly be the triggers instead of whatever the hell they thought they had going on and playing while standing up.

It's sweaty. Unlit areas are solid black in the headset and I can see nothing in them. I also haven't played in years so there's a lot of unfamiliar content.

It is fun though, and standing + remapped controls have helped a lot with the motion sickness, though I think part of it is just stress making me sick because every time I put a torch down or turn a corner there might be a fuckin mob right there and in VR that's just too much for me. I know previously I mitigate that fear just by making full iron gear so I know for a fact that nothing short of getting knocked into lava will kill me, but even at that point in VR it's still constant jump scares and sometimes I'm looking into the shadows like 'what the fuck is that' and something else comes at me from the opposite angle and I'm just like (screaming)

Got really tired of Persona 5 Royal and switched the difficulty to Safe Mode in order to accelerate the game. Like I said before, this shit literally could have been an expansion pack. The plot wasn't even bad either. I liked Maruki's character. Next on my backlog:

>Nioh 2
>Yakuza Kiwami 2
> Nier: Automata
Gonna give Nier another chance. What's the best difficulty for this game? I want a fun, but healthy challenge.

I think I might pick up persona 5 someday if its on sale or I just end up pirating it. But it seems like not buying the game was the right choice.

Well, it really depends. With Nier:Automata I think the best difficulty to go for is just the normal difficulty from the start, but there is no shame in lowering it if you feel overwhelmed. I know I did, I just cant handle sudden changes in boss fights so I felt the need to memorize boss fights first before I took them on.
Its a great game though, plenty of fun.

There is a brightness slider, and at max I can just barely make out maybe 2-3 shades of color in the shadows, but the difference between lit and unlit areas becomes too dramatic, so I went back to slightly above default. I watched a creeper go away from me in a cave and just completely disappear into the darkness and that is an experience.

I've gotten more comfortable with it though. I have to read up on the wiki and learn all the new shit they've added in the last 10 years like these awful terrible pain in the ass flying manta ray things that surprise me every time because I never see them coming

Yeah, it suffers from that quite a bit, it's actually considered to be the weakest of all three expansions. I still like it a lot because I played FFXIV when it was released and started off in Uldah. The things , a lot of the quests in Uldah touch on the suffering of the Ala Mhigos so I was super invested in finally exploring their kingdom and fighting for their independence after so many years. I'm sad to hear you actually hate the story, I'ts not the best but it's not that bad. It has one of my favorite FF villains in it.

I'm playing Moe Chronicle and I love it. The completely retarded ecchi shit is just right up my fucking alley and coming from Mary Skelter (which actually balanced pervy shit and drama perfectly, a true masterpiece) this is a great transition. Really waiting for the day video games aren't hampered by censorship... If not for the censors this game would be a fun boner, but it's mostly just worth a laugh. Play Mary Skelter if you haven't though, it's probably the next big RPG IP in my opinion... Blue Reflection was better but not everyone appreciates art, c'est la vie. The battle system in MS might actually be better than BF but the story wasn't. Good but not as good. Did I mention the flying tit UFO's in Moe Chronicle? I've never had a game's art design crack me the fuck up like this game

I don't feel Wipeout is too hard in most cases, the AI sort of blatantly cheats but other than that it's just racing. I like the time trials and the Zone matches, the battle races can be a hilarious clusterfuck, but with the normal races it's sort of an irritating setup because enemy racers always boost off the starting line in front of you so you always start in last place and have to fight your way up to first.

It starts kinda slow but peaks around the end. Lots of people had an issue with the ending of 4.0 itself but the patches after it and the story content more than makes up for it.

I think thats what most of the players had an issue with, but for me I didnt pick it up on release. I played it on 4.3 and im glad I did..

Zenos is awesome isnt he?
His voice in french and english voice actors did a wonderful job. His Japanese not so much and I think thats the reason why the Japanese fanbase didnt like him.

I wish I could find a monitor that is deserving of this damn computer I just built. I swear all LCD monitors have some glaring issue that you have to put up with. Backlight bleed/IPS glow, or VA glow and VA smearing and black crush. Oh and the best VA monitor out there has flickering issues and has the most intense curve on the market at 1000r.

Can someone make a damn OLED that isn't way too big or way too small?

Bad picture here but I zoomed in on Arthur's face, probably the most realistic looking eyeballs I've ever seen lol

Don't play this piece of shit, it's just another insipid grinding "RPG" but made for gacha waifufags. Don't listen to any other imageboard or review site that praises this turd.

Also Afro-Slavic is deliciously cursed, well played.

I was pretty interested in this until I heard it was a F2P gacha game bankrolled by the CCP. If this was a Steam JRPG for $60 I probably would've bought it to hold me over until BotW2.

Recently tried this again on CEMU myself. Seems they made some pretty good performance improvements since last time I tried it. Now even my dinky little laptop can run it somewhat smoothly, much thanks to better vulkan support and dynamic shader compiling. No more stutters every time you enter a new area.

might have something to do with the lack of any sort of local coop. thats what put me off

imagine us both needing to have the game and switches to play such an old, barely touched game. its profiteering straight up. fuck them.

I still cant figure out whither smoothdoom mod actually makes the game hard or not. not sure if the demons move faster but they are more predictable without it, but thats a given seeing how I spent more than a decade playing this game. But it is clear that even when playing on hurt me plenty I get damaged quite a lot, and always end up with a high damage roll. Switch to regular prboom and I cruise through the game perfectly. It's just that the mod really does make the game look a lot better, and it's difficult to switch back from it after enjoying all the extra animations it provides. Also it gets a little buggy, gives me infinite ammo whenever I pick up the BFG and sometimes the hellknight is spazzy if you attack him from behind.

>>756979
Its definitely one of the many issues they brought up in their reviews. Apparently a lot of the charm of the original game was all based on building a village together in a local co op experience and there is none of that in the remaster. You can travel together, but that's about it. The journey and the destination dont even matter. Sounds like they shot themselves in the foot. I still think it might be a decent experience for anyone who never played the original because it really looks like a fun game I want to pick up, but It doesn't sound like Ill be getting the full experience.

>Rune Factory 4

Playing it on the 3ds. Looking at screenshots of the switch version, looks like im playing the the shitty version of the game. Still, Its a fun game overall. Not my first Rune Factory, all the other ones that I tried never captured my attention. I just never could get into games that didn't have a clear point to everything I am doing, so I can never get into games like Animal Crossing. Stardew Valley loses all its luster after I cleared the dungeon. This one seems fun, and I appreciate the crafting mechanic. Its not genius or anything, but it gives me something to look forward to. I do kinda hate the quests in the game though. It so boring doing fetch quests and crafting shit just for the sake of it. I still have to do it to maintain the town so it starts to feel like a chore after a while but its ok to just leave it for a couple of days and come back to it later.

starbound with the frackin universe mod/overhaul. idk it's ok. early game was slow as all hell trying to figure out what additional hoops i had to jump through to get basic gear, then a bunch of timeouts to derp around in the massive unlock system it presents.

basically one million crafting stations and storage units are now a thing and you run around with a new mining laser hoovering up stacks of raw blocks and ore and feeding them into various 'wait for stuff' stations to get materials. also there's a big automation and item pipeline system a la modded minecraft, haven't touched that shit. (staring at a UI tweaking settings and troubleshooting processes is basically "people do this for work" territory.)

Play it on hard. And then crafting and cooking become essential, especially when monsters are only effected by elemental attacks. Try and befriend all of the towns folk too, not just your waifus and husbandos.Try and get Amber and Dylas's friend levels high, later on you need them to follow you for certain story events to happen, and Amber has healing magic. And there is love rivals, so try and lock in your love interest in like the first year. Im sure you know all this but in case you didnt, there you go.

It's very difficult to like Dylas. Not sure if its the translation or he's actually like that, but he's a tough pill to swallow. I get it though, He's suppose to warm up to me after a while and I'm working on him. Amber though, she's a walking ray of sunshine. So much to love about her, but too bad I'm playing with the female protagonist. I flipped a coin and that's what I ended up with.

I didn't actually know about have love rivals, I was mostly leaving all that behind. Im going for Arthur. I really like him, he has his moments and I love how much her cares for animals. But to be honest with you, I kinda want to lose. I do wonder if there is an ntr event somewhere in there now. Don't want to look up a guide but I really want to see it.

Okay the new Zombie Royale mode on Warzone is fucking fun. The match now takes place at night, and when you die you respawn as a zombie. So there can be a horde of like 40 player zombies chasing you. And playing as the zombie is actually really fun too
