Because they own both Obsidian and Bethesda now. It would be great if Obsidian ends up making a fallout game, not even New Vegas necessarily.

I wonder how exclusive their games are going to be.
Bethesda is used to making tons of money from releasing their games on every possible platform.

Skyrim wouldn't be in the top20 bestelling games of all time if it was exclusive to one console + PC

I dont think it will be an exclusive. It will definitely be avaliable to all gamepass subscribers upon release but it wont be an exclusive to the Xbox SeX console and PC. It can bring in money for them through the Playstation platform.
Microsoft doesnt even see Playstation as an actual competition. Its trying to stay ahead of Google and Amazon, both companies that showed interest in getting into the video game industry via subscription services.

Probably timed exclusives now. That's always been Microsoft's thing.

I'm more worried about them mismanaging these studios and turning them into more Rare situations where most of the talent leaves and MS just sits on the name and IPs. The stories coming out of 343 don't fill me with confidence in the state of MS's studio management.

It was though it was already going to go to other platforms before the acquisition.

I read that Microsoft told them to honour their current exclusivity contracts with Playstation and stuff like that, but future stuff will be dertermined on a case-by-case basis. I can see something like Elder Scrolls being multiplat since they'd be leaving money on the table without it, whereas games that are less established being exclusives.

Bethesda doesnt like to hype up the audiance too much. Usually they anounce something, wait a long time, then show gameplay and within a few months the game is out. I think its better that way.
We've waiting for Cyberpunk for god damn long, and people keep releasing info and discussing it, that I pretty much got am tired of it.

All exclusives are "money left on the table".
The entire point of an exclusive is to accept fewer sales, but draw people into your closed garden where you can guarantee future sales because the audience is locked into your market.

No one is going to buy an xbox25 instead of a PS6 because some game no one's heard of is only on the xbox.
They will if it's the only way they can play the next edition of their favorite series.
And since each sale is

That's why people are questioning the exclusivity thing.
They're gonna make a lot less money selling games from their franchises in exchange for what? Expanding the smaller market they're now confined to?

It's still good for them in the short term because they got 7.5 billion dollars, but I wonder how it's going to turn out in the long term.

I meant they dont let the audiance stay hyped for too long. Cyberpunk was announced back in 2012, releasing bits of information every now and then to keep people excited for it, except it its been fucking 8 years we're all tired of it.
Bethesda lets you know something is in works but doesnt trickle info on you for too long. Remember how they handled Fall out 4 and 76?
Game was anounced, crowd is hyped, game released with a small period of time.

Technically you can walk up to that mountain.

Exactly.
Fallout is a single title. People buy dozens of games. Even if exclusivity reduces Fallout sales by 80%, MS stands to gain because the people who bought an xbox to play FO are going to buy other xbox games.

Finding something that people like, buying it or developing a competing product that supports other MS products to get people in, then breaking compatibility with non-MS products to kill the alternative so the audience has to buy whatever shit they shovel is like MS's thing, EEE.

xbox/Windows Vista exclusive related.

I completely lost interest in the cyberpunk genre since then and I feel kinda bad about it because if they had released the game a year or two after dropping the pics, I would've played it. It was so long I thought that those pics were just some weird ARPG and not actually related to any game until years later when the game's back on the radar. Damn. nb because unrelated to topic

Doing it for 8 years is just not the way to go about it. They've been releasing more and more content lately, and it's obvious the game changed dramatically since then. I followed it pretty closely in the beginning so I'm quite bothered by all the changes they made. Whats really funny is that they promised they'll release a multiplayer mode after the the game is out somewhere in 2022, so some players will still have to wait some more. They really did not handle this well at all.

I've already seen enough gameplay so I know what its going to be like. I'm not excited for it at all. At this point I just want to play it so I can get it out of the way.

Honestly though while he's full of weird hot takes there's a huge difference between what he said and what you read.

A timed exclusive means it just comes out on everything else a bit later. One could even interpret that he assumes that microsoft wouldn't buy Bethesda if it wasn't to get more people onto their consoles so therefore there's going to be some sort of exclusivity. A timed exclusive is the less consumer unfriendly option with the other option being that it's actually not available cross platform,

But then

>>756504
And I realised he's just being dumb.

However my point stands. I hope they are timed exclusive with the emphasis on "timed" rather than exclusive. I think most people should hope that "not exclusive at all" is the ideal buts lets be honest. Not happening. You want your TES fix 6 or 12 months sooner go xbox? But hopefully anyone who still wants to buy bethesda after FO76 isn't forced to use the third party option. ie put their money directly into the bin.

Sony hurting a bit is good for all of us consumers. Raising the prices on us when there is no real reason for it is just them taking advantage of the fact that they pretty much dominated the console market for the past two generation. Charging us for internet access because they could when they never bothered with it with the PS3 is another reason. Policing and censoring the games we get to play is another one. Killing off the Vita and its over priced Memory. No backwards compatibility is another reason, the list goes on.

Having a healthy competition is good for us, I really couldnt care less about brand loyalty. TEs6 being a timed exclusive for the Xbox SeX and PC, is just the thing that will maky Sony think twice on how to proceed.

You're probably unaware of it but Galguns, the game I posted, is a series that started off on the Xbox360, back in the hayday when Microsoft was trying to tap into the Japanese market. It was left behind after Microsoft considered the Japanese market a loss and pulled out. The series continued on to be released on the Playstation platform, only to end up having hard time due to sony censorship. Now it come a full circle, Inti creates is moving back to the Xbox and switch exclusively not because of a special deal they had with Microsoft and Nintendo, but because they were tired Sony Policing their content. Its a big deal.

Its not just them though, Compile heart also another of the studios. releasing Mary Skelter on the PS4 initially, and optioning out to release the rest of the series on the switch instead. Hopefully they'll just move on the XboX SeX too.

I like it, we've been bullied by Sony for too long. Its good to see the big companies competing for our attention.

Yeah the "centred on attractive girls also shooter" genre is a big deal and really pushes exciting boundaries of video games by having women as sex objects as a core feature.

It's funny because you are on to something though, you just can't see the forest for creepy lolicon. Apparently football manager isn't on PS5 but will be on switch. Sony just didn't care enough to reach out to them. Not a big title but it sells into 7 figures every year." I'm lukewarm on football but you have to respect what they do to make that game what it is. Apparently Everton actually had a deal with them that they could use the game's database for talent scouting for their squad at one point.

Sony products are really well made so its not a big problem for me, and people here dont understand how a business is run, if I sold something I would want to make sure you only buy my own products unless you want to go out of business. >Raising the prices on us
Alright fair enough they were the first console manufacturer to announce their games would be $70, but they weren't the first publisher at all, and honestly the writing was on the wall that this would happen soon and a new console generation certainly makes the most sense. Plus PS first party games go down about $20 about a year and a half after release, meaning when Demon's Souls gets a price cut to $50 it might end up being cheaper than Mario Odyssey and the port of Tropical Freeze since Nintendo never really gives price cuts for their first part titles.

>Charging us for internet access
Nintendo also does this, and Microsoft literally rebooted the trend after it helped kill off the Dreamcast (truly Sega's successor)

>Killing off the Vita and its over priced Memory
Microsoft also does proprietary memory and has since at least the 360.

>No backwards compatibility is another reason
As if Nintendo is any better? There are re-release of ps2 games and remasters of some ps3 games that end up much cheaper than Nintendo's idea of backwards compatibility on the switch, and now that Microsoft is pushing towards digital only gaming their backwards compatibility seems moot for early 360/most original xbox games.

Sounds like you're just salty because your pedo weeb games are getting censored, which is honestly going to only happen more and more on all the consoles.

>>756542
>Plus PS first party games go down about $20 about a year and a half after release
I think it drops even more. Sony games are the quickest to drop in price, while Nintendo on the other hands hardly ever does. Its the main reason why I still dont own a switch. I prefer to buy my games six months after release since they sometimes drop almost half in price. Still doesnt change the fact that Sony is charging more next gen, while you can play all their games upon release as long as you're subbed for the game pass. 15 dollars a month for all their games, or 70 for one newly released game on the Sony. It's just a much better deal for us to move on to the XboX. There is nothing I hate more than Brand Loyalty. It's a good thing to have options.

Why do you guys think I'm an X-bot. I'm not, I'm just excited the XBoX SeX is gonna turn out to be a good console, and you should be too. It means you will have more options to choose from.

>Nintendo also does this
Nintendo only started to do this after everybody else got away with it. I know Microsoft were charging access to the internet since way back when. I'm just upset that Sony started to do the same thing with the PS4 after so many years of not doing it. With Xbox now, it's just a much better deal to sub for the Gamepass, and you get to play all these games with internet access. I think its a move in the right direction.

>Microsoft also does proprietary memory and has since at least the 360
I believe they are still doing the same thing with the XboX SeX actually. External Drive for the console Costs around 200 dollars so we're still going to have to deal with it this gen too. I still think it sucks, but I hate the fact that Vita pretty much died do to their proprietary memory bs.
It's weird though, I remeber being able to connect my regular External Hard drive to xbox360. Maybe im wrong.

>There are re-release of ps2 games and remasters of some ps3 games
I know you're a fan Yakuza so you got a decent deal, but there are plenty of games that I and many others would've loved the chance to play on their PS3 consoles. I'm not defending Nintendo in any way, They can be shitheads too. But Nintendo is it's own thing with its own games, while Sony and XboX are competing against each other, and next gen the XboX SeX is backwards compatible while the PS5 is not. Phil Spencer spent the early stages of the XboX SeX announcements trying to make sure all the potential customers knew that those days ant consumer practices are behind them, and I think he meant it.

Besides, Microsoft isn't pushing towards digital only, It's just the way things are now. They've been this way for a long time with the PC, and with the internet getting better and everything, Digital is an inevitability. Cant blame Microsoft for it.

Yeah, you bet your ass I'm salty about my games getting censored, and as far as I can tell they are only getting lewder on the switch and XboX SeX. Not to mention Steam pretty much is the best platform for Hentai Games and Visual Novels. I'm not upset trust me. Long gone are the days when I had to order these games all the way from Japan. Even games like Taimanin Asagi are coming to Steam, its absolutely mind blowing how quickly Steam embraced the lewdness. And if it was going to happen more and more, Companies like Compile Heart and others like would've never announced any of their games on XboX SeX and Switch. Things are only going to get lewder and im static for it.
