Didn't you just make a thread about this a while back?

>Anyone here a trucker?
Sorta
>What's that like?
OTR is boring and you gotta pretty much put in your year or two OTR before you can get cushy local jobs or anything decent that isn't OTR. Unless you like OTR. Basically it is interstates, then backroads, then interstates, then backroads ad infinitum. Getting your CDL isn't easy anymore either. You also need a DOT card to drive unless you're working for the government or a farm in some capacity. Rollback driving isn't too bad. Dump truck is boring as all fuck, I mean it is probably the lowest form of truck driving outside of straight boxes and shit like that around a metro area.
>How much can I make year 1?
Depends, probably like .30 cpm and 2-3 months team driving "training." Minus tuition and shit for getting a CDL. So probably like 40-45k if you aren't an incompetent fuck. Up towards 55-60 in a few years. Also, don't lease. It is a boat anchor around your neck.

Most companies also do hair follicle drug tests. They say it is like 1" they can cut back from scalp but they will test the whole hair. So shave your head and body and eyebrows and everything before you go into driving if you have done any kinds of non-prescription drugs. Go ahead and spend the money on a DOT physical before you even try and get a job to see if you can pass the medical requirements.

Ok so I made a post a few months back talking about a trip I've been planning around the world on practically no money.

Well I'm doing it! I'm in Venice Italy right now. I arrived super late and ended up just dropping 20 euro on a hostel because I've been hitchiking for 5 days and was to tired to hunt down a squat in the dark.

I've been couch surfing and wwoofing as well as busking some street art. I make those outer space scense with spray paint that the tourists fucking love. On a good day I make like 20 euro. Even on my worst day I make 5-10 euro ( i keep writing euro because my pc dosent have a euro button because it was made in murica and im to lazy to look up the ascii code.)

Ive met tons of cool people from various walks of life.

The other night I pitched my tent in a traffic circle on the highway that had a lot of bushes. I got bored and wandered to the gas station where i met some homeless chick who was waiting for a ride and we hung out and she shared this huge ball of hash with me, i gifted her with a painting.

I'll write more detailed adventures and post cooler pics in the future. But right now i have to take my first shower and a shave in a week. I look like shit.

Pic is me and some distraught locals who hosted me for a week.

What's the best one? I want the 1970s versions for the look and economics though maybe the 1980s are cheaper now. Anybody know anything about this? I want to ride a heavier motorcycle 900+ cc but only have experience with dirt bikes and crotch rockets. I want to be able to drive around town as well as make trips to nearby cities and not feel too inconvenienced, need to stop a lot or feel like I'm not keeping up with traffic or unsafe. I also want to do most of the maintenance myself and don't think it'd be a problem if it's a retro bike (no idea what's up with anything new..)

Hello.
I'm looking for a car. It needs to fit these criteria:
  • Parts readily available in Canada
  • Roomy and seats 4
  • Convertible
  • made in the 1980s. Early 1990s is fine too.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

They usually use Jesus to draw in people who are push-overs and shit. Not always the case but usually they are using their religion to hide a bunch of bullshit they do behind the scenes. There is always some bullshit where they are fucking with pay or giving you complete turds for equipment and giving you shit routes etc. There are just better companies out there.

It isn't meant to be a shot at christianity or christians. You just got a few folks in any business who will do that shit. It is like working for a church or whatever. Most of them are going to be cheap as all fuck and expect you to do shit for the kindness out of your heart.

This is a thread to discuss Thru Hiking, also called backpacking and also hiking in general. Not to be confused with the other type of backpacking: traveling around for cheap with just what you can carry on your back. This thread is a bit more specific and is for discussing trail hikes or even backcountry trailblazing. Techniques, supplies, gear, luxuries, psychology, physical preparation and effects, etc.

What's your favorite hike you've done? My favorite was the Hidden Canyon Trail in Zion National Park. It had a beautiful view, some really sketchy segments (the trail was cut into the side of a cliff and it was so narrow that there was a chain on the side of the cliff to hold onto) and I even got to see some mountain goats.

Shit also, my Merrell Hiking boots. A lot of people say use trail runners but I've found ankle support to be invaluable on the trail because when you're in the groove it is pretty easy to step on a rock and twist and ankle.

I hitched across europe like 4 times. Not exactly hiking but its hiking adjacent.

I seriously underestimated what gear to bring first time out

Things I should of had but didn't.

A better tent (not a one person boddy bag essentially)
Sleeping mat
Better shoes
Lighter and more compact gear. But it seems most "compression" gear is massivly more expensive.
bigger bag. ( chose a 50L bag, I should of chosen the 70L)

I'm starting an extended road trip in my camper van tomorrow.

I'm doing this because I'm pretty sure I have avoidant personality disorder and every tactic I've tried to force myself to interact regularly with people I know has failed. Anytime I socialize with people my brain just goes into fucking retard mode afterwards and keeps summoning up memories of things I did that I rationally know are no big deal at all and giving me horrible anxiety over them. It's worse with people I know and care about. My rational mind is a slave to my emotions; I'm just not strong enough to push through. I figure at the root of the issue is a lack of self esteem and a lack of self control. I think I can work on both by training martial arts and getting out of my room and acquiring more life experiences.

In the past when I tried to take martial arts classes I always felt like I embarrassed myself and wasn't able to make myself go back. On the road I can just go to a new place and start all over fresh each time, abusing free trials so I don't have to pay for the lessons. It will be a good way to get some exposure therapy while still satisfying my avoidant tendencies. Regular interactions and friendships will come later hopefully.

My first destination will be Florida to wait out the coldest part of the year, then I'll start heading west to California and then go north up the coast as the seasons change so I stay nice and comfy. Looking forward to that legal weed out west. I have some tools I can use to earn some money and some savings, so I hope I can keep it going for a while.

I guess I just made this thread so I have somewhere to talk about what happens, although anyone else is free to talk about similar experiences ITT. I hope you don't mind some blogposting. Wish me luck.

Hey /vroom/,

So I've been saving money for a year now and living cheap at my parent's place with the general plan that "I'm going to go travelling when I feel ready." Well, I have around 10,000 saved and am feeling pretty ready to go out and do something!

So initially I thought of backpacking for a few months, but plane tickets would eat up most of my savings and then when it's over it's over, time to save money again.

Then I thought of two other things I'd like to do - living in an RV or a Sailboat.

I have years of experience with both RV camping and Boating, so I'm pretty confident on the technical side of things. I guess why I'm posting is just to get it out there - fuck it, I think I'm gonna drive down to the beach after christmas and trade my car for a sailboat and start following the coast!

I work online and don't need 24/7 internet access so long as I can connect every few days to upload documents and answer emails. That and I'm open to the random odd jobs on shore.

Anyone on 420chan ever done the liveaboard thing? What was your experience?

I don't think I've ever seen an ATM that gives more than 400 per transaction and most banks, especially the ones a drunk guy would be using, won't allow many. if any, transactions after that so he couldn't have gotten that much for it.

I've sent too many cars off to charity or driven them to the scrap yard for the hundred bucks. It sucks and doesn't get you a new car.
Honestly, list it on craigslist if you have the title, as is
Or sell off some parts, look at ebay for examples, trim pieces, chrome grilles, door handles are gold to those who need them.
I mean, or whatever, the $95 will at least get you a cheap bicycle.
