Ok so I made a post a few months back talking about a trip I've been planning around the world on practically no money.

Well I'm doing it! I'm in Venice Italy right now. I arrived super late and ended up just dropping 20 euro on a hostel because I've been hitchiking for 5 days and was to tired to hunt down a squat in the dark.

I've been couch surfing and wwoofing as well as busking some street art. I make those outer space scense with spray paint that the tourists fucking love. On a good day I make like 20 euro. Even on my worst day I make 5-10 euro ( i keep writing euro because my pc dosent have a euro button because it was made in murica and im to lazy to look up the ascii code.)

Ive met tons of cool people from various walks of life.

The other night I pitched my tent in a traffic circle on the highway that had a lot of bushes. I got bored and wandered to the gas station where i met some homeless chick who was waiting for a ride and we hung out and she shared this huge ball of hash with me, i gifted her with a painting.

I'll write more detailed adventures and post cooler pics in the future. But right now i have to take my first shower and a shave in a week. I look like shit.

Pic is me and some distraught locals who hosted me for a week.

I lived in a rural jungle Eco-Village farm in South India for like 3 to 4 months. It was quite an experience. Everything was quiet, clean, natural, pure, and very peaceful. I've tried my best to describe the way it was in this video https://youtu.be/VKQAzk5NgZ8

Cool story, I have kinda found ways to find places that are quiet peaceful. Even when you have to go through difficult areas that may find . My favorite is sounds of streams, trees, thunder, rain, and waves of ponds and lakes. Gotta find yourself to an extent to see things in a different way. Anways, I found this through fishinfg for fish. I kept one grocery bag for fish if I wanted to deep a fish or two and one for trash that I found.
Flip side for video, I would not drink water from where you bathed. but whatever. Let alone the Ganges River. Just my thing.

So knowing city pretty well, in the usa, there are ways to just see ways to things
in a way, I can but cannot explain it, but things can be annoyin, but finding cool places does take some thinkin, but findin the coolest times places mi9ndset and people works well. Cool people can be travelers. Listenen to people
who experenced something unique it just makes us all unique.

I mean we can go to spring break, barf all over ourselves and others for that matter. By drinkin too much, but it is not expandin our experences much.

I do not seek to expand my expereces much, they happen as we go on.
I have found the most interesting if not funny stuff. In the end I have found travellers to share something simple but kinda intense. So if my words do not make sense, then deal with it.

Thoughts on these electric scooter rentals?

I understand they’ve been annoying in bigger cities where you already have density and a lot of transportation options. But I think they’re awesome for mid-large cities and suburbs where everyone’s so dependent on cars.

everyone I've seen on or carrying one has been a dipshit hipster retard, but I havent' had any negative experiences with them in terms of pure traffic management. I haven't noticed them "littering the sidewalk" either, they have pretty hefty deposits and the riders seem to keep a good eye on them. I have seen NORMAL kick scooters left around, but they're always obviously kids' toys that the kid left out.

They seem a little pointless though since the only places with enough hipster dipshits to implement them already has very strong public transportation. They also don't have the range for long travels and don't offer any storage space so they're not useful for, say, going and picking up something you bought off Kijiji.

BIXI and similar bike rental services are better, all they need is for them to be E-bikes with saddlebags instead of normal pedal ones and it'd be ideal.

Monetization proved effective for rentals using an app tied to onboard hardware to ensure only proper paid users get to ride them powered.
So effective that they spread too quickly and became a nuisance since new users often left them in inconvenient locations or acted foolishly instead of using them as intended - scooters appeal to kids who often didn't have the best training, and parking it wherever the fuck you want was part of the appeal.

Works best in college towns where people are more laid back. The more litigious a people, the more likely these are banned or heavily restricted for safety reasons.

In my suburban mega city, they are vandalized, gutted for scrap, and their carcasses are strewn about. They are treated as toys by people, and then like a messy child's room, left all over the place, usually never serviced once before they are destroyed completely. Kids like to throw them in creeks.

Should I buy a Pedelec / e-bike?

Should I invest into a sturdy e-bike / Pedelec , or should I wait?

I ride my bike every day to work and to visit friends at weekends. I never bought a new bike in my life, allways refurbished or old bikes from friends.

Thinking now to get an e-bike that just supports my movement (Pedelec), but I don't want a high-maintnance one.
I just can't afford to drive it to a worshop every half year.

Should I buy one? Or should I wait until the battieries will be something from Star-Trek?

Is it a waste of money?

Pedelecs are totally overpriced right now.
Every bike - no matter what brand - has all parts manufactured dirt-cheap in china, shipped to the destination and assemled there most of the time.

So you are paying 5000 $ for a bike that costs 1000 in reality.

But since the pandemic there are supply-shortages everywhere, so don't expect the prices to drop anytime soon and expect insane shipping-costs or waiting-times (I've waited for mine to ship 4 months!).

That being said:
Its insanely fun to drive around. I've travelled way more aound with my bike and honestly I'm addicted to ride this thing. I even take some other routes after work, just to see where my bike will take me.

But mark my words:
The automobile-industry will start smearing-campaigns soon,
and I predict they'll be paying politicians to decrease bike-lanes or make restrictions on e-bike use.

How do I get a good price for my car when it has unappealing body damage but is functionally fine? Its a 2008 Honda Civic Coupe with 102k on the clock but the body damage makes it worth like $1000 probably. (Bumper clearcoat peeling(its a defect on all civics of that era), scratches, and a big dent with chipping paint from a deer hit, other small BS.) I need to get something 4x4 cus I moved to the boonies and the driveway is fucking gravel on a hill and I just spin my tires up it every day causing more damage to the car and driveway.

My plan was to just keep this car till it died of natural causes but other factors are forcing my hand, ya feel?

Modifying would be silly, I do drive it on the road its just once I get home the long driveway tears it up. And just yesterday I got a big hard bump when I drove into a now exposed tree root in the ground where I park. Rain finally washed away enough dirt that its like running over a curb.

Really I could get away with a vehicle that is just higher off the ground but 4x4 would be a great asset. There is a steep part in the driveway I do spin tires on sometimes.

What do you mean by selling in the city? Drive down there and hold out a sign like its the great depression? Or trading it in at a stealership?

Try to find another bumper, considering how cheap Civics are in the states it'll probably be cheaper than paint+body work.

Clear coat can be re applied and scratches can be buffed.

Clean the whole car and be very anal about it. Don't forget to buff the headlights if they're oxidized to heck.

We know that they're gonna happen, since they're estimated to be a $ 1.9 trillion industry by 2035, and considering that lots of major tech companies are investing heavily in eVTOLs, and considering that NASA is already streamlining the testing and regulation processes. But is it gonna happen in our lifetime? I'd like to know if there are any engineers in here that could answer this question.

The main reason why I think it's quite a bit far way is that battery technology is nowhere near as efficient as it needs to be. These current eVTOLs can't even fly for more than 30 minutes before running out of juice. Another reason is that they make a lot of noise, you can't lift off from your garage without waking up the whole hood. Maybe they could solve this problem with active noise-cancelling? I don't know.

The result of a society that allows unlimited amounts of money and capital concentrate under the hands of a few elites is that they will spend billions of dollars on impractical toys for themselves to play with and to remind everyone else of how superior they are. You will probably never be able to afford one but maybe you will shell out a couple of grand for a ride in one once. They will of course be an environmental disaster because they will take way more energy than alternatives but rich guys won't care because zooming through the air will remind the peasants below that they are the gods of this world and that's more important to them than a sustainable future with a liveable planet.

They're called Helicopters. We have them already.

Plus do you mean to tell me you're going to be just fine knowing the average chucklefuck is piloting one of these things above your house? Christ we already have people plowing into each other while staring at their cellphone instead of paying attention to the goddamned road. But now instead of being confined to the streets these accidents are going to scatter flaming debris across a residential block. Oh i'm sorry Little Billy got decapitated on his way to school because some douche dropped his vape in his eVTOL and was rooting around in the footwell trying to find it.

Who on /vroom/ rides? I ride a 2015 Kawasaki Ninja 300 and am in love with the fun and the great gas mileage. If I put forth effort I can get 70 mpg on the machine. I've been riding since November 2015.

When 80 percent of the time I am the only person in my car it doesn't make sense to me to have all that extra room if all I'm transporting is myself.
