i got a bike with big skinny wheels from the 80s so that the cables are all external and not a nightmare to replace

i like those, ride it every day. i paid 85 and 15 for a nice bar tape. it's kind of the cheapest schwinn they made back in '86 but it pulls a good 20mph cruising speed.

Started with a diamondback hybrid frame($75) and added a bafang 750w mid-drive motor with 52v 6ah lithium ion battery. I have my headlight integrated, but not taillight yet. I will give a final build report when I have all of the running lights working and probably upload a video as well.

I use this to commute to work 5 days a week, 13 miles each way. I currently average about 21-22 mph following red lights and stop signs with cars present (why stop at 3am?).

Didn't see any threads on amusement parks on here and I figured /vroom/ would be the best board to post about it.

What theme and water parks have you guys visited? Any stories from those trips you've taken to them?

pic related, I miss going to Wild Rivers as a kid.

Silver Dollar City was fun when I went there when I was 8 although I did get lost there and had to go back to the car. Also depends which Batman coaster you mean since the one I went on at Six Flags America was the type where you lay down and it felt weird riding on that.

Where can I learn about the bike gears? (1-3) & (1-6)

What is there to know about general bike upkeep? Like checking tire pressure and making sure everything is lubricated

Are there any resources about "pimping out" and modding bikes with accessories and that sorta stuff?

This is my first car and my mom gave it to me, the dealership wants me to trade it in for a newer one, but everyone tells me dont go for another Ford because they are like the McDonalds of car world. They are the first manufacturer but not the best.
This will be my first inquiry into cars, and could start me on really educating myself.

What about Ford makes you Not Want to have one? What do other car brands offer and can I trade a ford in to other dealerships or am I only allowed to trade in the dealership I got this one from?

This, OP. Battery swaps are ridiculously easy. Just walk your old battery into an auto parts retailer. They offer free battery disposal usually so that's a plus, AND they will show you which battery will fit your car. I did pay like $100 for a spankin' new one but it was worth it.

Honestly if your current car is WORKABLE you should watch YouTube videos about how to fix it up. I watched a LOT of ChrisFix vids when I was working on my last car. It's really quite easy to do regular maintenance on almost any car, provided you have the right tools. Get a hand me down socket set because that'll be your bread and butter. The only things I wouldn't personally try to upkeep are transmissions and engine blocks. Spark plugs, mufflers, batteries and the like are all basic fare for car maintenance.

As for brands, anything Toyota makes lasts FOREVER. Toyota is, to me, the ultimate consumer car company. Their stuff is built well enough to take a beating, and simply enough to be easily accessible for maintenance operations.

Visiting New York

Sup /vroom/,

I am a simpleton from the Western US and I have only been to maybe 15 or so states, and only 4 other countries. I have never been further east than Ohio, and I want to start visiting some places on the East Coast both to experience the different side of American culture as well as see some tourist sights, eat some good food, and see historical locations. I recently toured up and down the West Coast and feel I should set my sights on the other coast now. I have never been to New York so I figured I might as well start with NYC, then maybe check out Boston next year or something.

I'm planning to go in early December for ~4 days, a Wed night or Thurs through Sunday. I know this will be a cold time of year, but I live in AZ and cold and snow are like a wonderful adventure for me. I've been in sub zero temps in Minnesota before so I know to layer clothes and stuff.

Anyway, for a complete bumbling retard tourist, any tips on visiting the Big Apple? Any must-see places or must-do experiences? Any shitty tourist trap things to avoid? Any little tips or advice I might not think to ask?

If you go upstate, check out Niagara falls because it's still summer. You could spend forever in NYC and not get bored, but be careful in the trappy places like Time's Square or the WTC or Statue because they're just going to overcharge and scam you if possible. You should go bar hopping in the village.

Will be coming to South East Asia soon, along the way I want to go somewhere where you can easily get a variety of drugs without repercussions. Is Cambodia a good choice? I know weed is easy to come by there, what about other stuff?

Have no experience with getting drugs in my own country or drug subculture in general, just want to try this to get more life experience and shit.

I leave extremely soon for Thailand. I'm going the Thailand (Bangkok)> Chiang Mai> Laos/Thai border river slow boat all the way down>Cambodia route.

I'll post some pictures and experiences here when I get there. I'm on suboxone so I wont be using hard drugs regularly, but I may be able to score a good morphine or methadone script. Even if I cant, I'll definitely try the opium/PPT in Laos while I'm there on the river.

Nodson's post was dead on about the drugs in the region. He forgot to mention you can get xanax, valium, tramadol, gabapentin, and viagra in nearly all the pharmacies in the region. Cambodia especially will likely have oxy/morphine/ketamine/tramadol/codeine all under the counter no script required, with some even selling morphine injectable ampules.

I've got a '10 Subaru Forester. Bought it used. Currently at 85.8k.

She's making weird ass noises when I turn hard. Screechy and loud. It doesn't do it every time I turn hard, but more often than not.

Anyone else ever experience this? Power steering issue? Steering column?

Question: is Tesla still the best electric car?
https://youtu.be/2DucRxWz_58
Sandy thinks so after disassembling a Tesla 3.
6:00 — He talks about his two new reports on the cost to build the Tesla Model 3 in China. He also mentions the special relationship in China with Chairman Xi, where Tesla got land, assistance with building the factory, and special citizenship. Tesla is also the only foreign company that has been allowed to build a car factory without a domestic partner.
12:00 — Munro mentions that Chrysler and more recently Toyota bought his Tesla research, but GM and Ford have not.
13:00 — He mentions, “Nobody has electronics like Tesla.”
14:00 — Tesla is dropping from 1.8 km of wire in the Model 3 to less than 100 meters of wire. That is only enough for power wire, so communications has to be wireless
15:00 — He trusts “Tesla software more than anything else.”
16:00 — Most big companies in China are interested in his reports.
17:00 — Tesla’s vertical integration saves it from giving up profit to suppliers.
18:00 — “If you aren’t creating the motor, battery and circuits, you aren’t a company, you are a reseller. … They have wicked smart engineers.”
20:00 — “Their engineering is to die for.” It’s turned into a money machine for Sandy, providing info on Tesla. He’s amazed at how many people want to know about Tesla.
21:30 — Sandy mocks financial analysts, saying he knows the analysts that claim they know cars, and he knows they haven’t torn apart in a car.
23:00 — He thinks they can build a factory in a year in China that would take 2 to 3 years in the US.
25:00 — CATL, Panasonic, LG, and others building huge battery factories in China.
27:30 — Tesla circuit boards have antennas all over their boards. China is working to catch up to Tesla. GM and Ford don’t realize how far behind they are.
30:00 — He talks about how China incentives are going away.
43:00 — He has been to China 6 times and every time he has been surprised and impressed with something.
44:00 — He forecasts there will be no new gas engines released after 2021 or 2022. “If you are an engine engineer, you better be in trade school at night.”
48:00 — Toyota is releasing 24,000 EV/hybrid patents, but he implies that it’s a Trojan horse. If you waste time looking at Toyota’s patents from 5 years ago, you are wasting time.
51:00 — Tesla’s motors are the lightest, most efficient, and most powerful.
55:00 — “I was shocked at the performance of the Model 3!”
57:00 — “I used to race cars, and if you want to go fast, you want an EV.”
58:00 — “Tesla technology is VASTLY different than everyone else’s.”
60:00 — “Elon is the only hero in the US.”
62:00 — Motor Trend journalist says “Teslas are stunning to drive.”
64:00 — Tesla builds cars that blow people away with drive quality and “bewitching” features.
65:00 — Sandy says “If I was 35 or 25, I’d buy a Tesla for the thrill of driving.”
69:00 — Super bottle integration of heating and cooling of everything is brilliant.
78:00 — “Tesla has kicked the European manufacturers in the ass, what they have accomplished is extraordinary.”
