Thoughts on these electric scooter rentals?

I understand they’ve been annoying in bigger cities where you already have density and a lot of transportation options. But I think they’re awesome for mid-large cities and suburbs where everyone’s so dependent on cars.

A full cycle is every time you recharge your battery to full charge after using it. Charging batteries after using 10-20-30-100% etc. Will not prolong battery life.

Partial charges are not recommended.

Try getting a replacement for your battery pack before it claps out to avoid wasting time later. Also if you plan to make small electric vehicles a part of your life look into a Battery Balance Charger/Discharger, they're quite handy for revitalizing batteries and a must if you feel like making your own battery packs (via laptop battery prospecting also you'd need a battery spot welder).

I bought this 2000 honda accord, and it's got these problems now:
  • side door impact dented
  • taillight busted
  • radiator or something bust and there was this big explosion of white smoke
  • car wont start: distributor allegedly filled with oil?

Do you think it's worth getting it running again or should I just sell it? And if I sell, then do I have to sell it for scrap value? And if you're going to sell a car for scrap value, how do you get the most you can for that?

Why buy a completely shitty car when you dont even like the kind of car or anything? kinda stupid, man. i bought a car for $1k thats a 1998 and is running just fine after a little routine maintenance and getting into the make, gathering info etc. lol i could've just said "welp i bought a shitty car ill just keep it shitty its not worth it" but what's the point. obviously a 2000 accord isn't worth saving by any means but why even bother. you're not getting more than a couple hundred $ for it. just sell it to nearest scrapyard, buy next car to kill i guess.

So, I'm planning a vacation to Cuba for my birthday in mid November - it's going to be me and my wife. We both speak spanish, she way more fluently than I. Our main interests are beaches, old towns, art museums and historical landmarks related to the golden age of sail.
We haven't completely worked out the budget yet, but minus the plane tickets, I think I'll be able to save up something along the lines of €10009 for both of us for about 9 days there.
We're not particularly rich, but I've been told by people you don't need that much money once you actually reach Cuba.
I'm currently looking for cheap 2-way tickets, and I was wondering which city would be the best to touch down and start our vacation? To some extent, we're dirty hippies, so we don't need super fancy accomodation/all-inclusive crap, a simple room with a double bed and an AC will be more than enough, we don't even need TV or internet, so I'm thinking we'll crash at youth hostels. We don't intend to stay in one place for the whole thing, so I'm thinking of renting a car as well. I was thinking we could start with Havana and make our way south along the souther beachline, then leave from Guantanamo airport at the end of our vacation.
You think a €1000 will be enough for this plan? Any suggestions for particular towns we should visit?
Additionally, what's the deal with weed there?
Also, being EU whites, should we watch out for muggers/pickpockets/generally people who want to steal our shit?

>Thanks in advance, 420bros. This has been my dream vacation since I wasn 17, so any input is appreciated. SLAYER

I drive a 2003 Hond Civic, bought used at 110k, Nearly 180k miles now. Radiator replaced at 120k or so.

Sixty-thousand miles accumulated, a problem occurs. Throughout last winter, cabin heat would mot work; until reaching speeds of 40-45 mph, and only after driving for 30 minites or so. Coolant check, oil change, check. Continue without much problem.

I begin to notice that when I turn my cabin temp to hot, regardless of turning air-flow on, my temp gague on my dash rockets up to unsustainable levels.

My questionis whether or not I oughta investigate the thermostat, the thermoswitch for the the belt fan, should I check my water pump (i also see a greater effect ofthe same described phenomenon once going uphill for a prolonged period), do i just have an air pocket in my air system? I have spiders in my vents too. what should i do?

I have some expendable monies in the range of less than 1k.

This took a really brash turn.

What im saying is that the cabin heat used to run just fine, and now it doesnt.

Not like I need it now. But the engine thermostat reads hot after 2 minutes of switching the cabin heat knob to hot.

Not to derail the thread but I have a smilar problem in my 1988 Honda Prelude, 3G

Has quite the mileage on it but it still runs well. She's my baby & I'm trying to fix her up.

The transmission started going out & I thought it was one, already had the engine replaced. Turned out it just needed fluid.. Japanese & their tiny hands man, took my friends dad 20m to find the trans fluid to fill it up.

Thing is the car is overheating, especially if it idles a while. I can't drive it more than 30m before the engine temp skyrocets. I may need a new radiator but I don't think that's it.

Fairly vague with my assessment here but any advice appreciated, I love the crap out of Third Gen's. Goal is to keep mine as a parts car & find one with 4WS

Hello there,

I'm going to London with a friend in the first weekend of June. It's gonna be my first time. Can you recommend what to do / where to go / what to see? I don't know what I want, I'm just stoked to see the city. (yes, I am doing my research, but I love 420chan, so asking you guys, also)

If it helps: love food/alcohol; wanna go to a true pub; eat fish and chips; eat traditional English breakfast; music; nature; markets; small shops.

I don't know. Don't wanna go mainstream places (unless they are worth it (I probably sound dumb)).

Thank you for your input!!!

Theres a few good castles in england, but for the best ones you have to go to Ireland, Scotland and Wales, where they were needed to intimidate the celts. As for roman ruins we have a few but not many cause we were a frontier nation (hadrians wall, bath, chester and york have good roman stuff).
What we do have though is lots of ruins of monasteries and cathedrals from when we did away with catholics, bit of a shame compared with the existing ones left in the rest of europe.

You should check out atlas obscura also OP.

So I illegally immigrated/ over stayed my visa to Europe.
This thread is for other illegals to share experiences of their time as an illegal human.

Once I had a fuckin close call in being deported.

Any tips, tricks and cheat codes to fixing this?
If I exit the area I am illegal in and go to my embassy and ask for a new stamp in my pass port what would happen theoretically?

I was hitchiking into Vienna from Italy and the car I was in got pulled over for an out of date vehicle inspection sticker.
They seemed to ignore me for the entire 20+ minute stop.
Then they knocked on the window and asked to see my papers.
I have papers but they aren't really "valid"any more....
My hair was sticking up in every direction, my beard was also a bit wild. I had been on the road for 5 days. So I looked suspicious af.

The police then look my papers over for what feels like forever.
I could litterally see them doing that sort of whole body dance where you're deciding if you should fuck some one's entire life over.

I'm sitting in the car sweating blood.

Then one cop comes over and asks if I remember who he is....
I don't but fake it.

It turns out over a year previously I sold him some art while busking.
He tells me not to worry and that he knows the problem.

Two minutes later he comes back with my papers and wishes me a good evening.

I think I used up all the luck aloted to me for the rest of my life.

Insulated tent

There's a half decent chance I might have to live out of my car in the upcoming future, and that's something I'm fine with except that it's a fucking tiny vehicle (scion iq). While I still have a modicum of disposable income I was thinking about investing in a tent that would at least allow me to lie down instead of having to sleep in the seats. This winter has me fucking worried about freezing to death doing so though.

Can anyone recommend a tent/brand with decent thermal insulation? I'm on the mason-dixon line so I'm not trying to survive the Canadian wilderness or anything crazy, just looking to sleep outside without freezing to death. The cheaper the better, but I understand quality costs some money. Thanks for any recs

In my experience, much of which was gained living in the tent in the left in your image (the one on the right is an embark 2man that my fiancé and I used as storage at that time), you’re going to want something in the 2-4man range, with a tarp underneath and another over the top. “Waterproof” doesn’t last long. You’re still going to need good ventilation, so don’t burrito the tent. Paracord and bowline knots help immensely. Dig a rain trench around the tent, and make sure you’re not in a flood plain.
A cot couldn’t hurt but that’s a longer term item. A tall airbed with a rug under it will save your back.
Get a two burner propane camp stove, fast food isn’t a good long-term solution.
As has been said itt: no insulated tents (hence tarps), don’t sleep directly on the ground (add layers or altitude), and get a good sleeping bag. My bag was rated for 0f and kept me toasty in the embark my first new year’s without walls. Pic related, this is that tent new year’s day on the pacific coast.

If you’re positive you can maintain your vehicle, trade for a van and stick your mattress in the back. Honestly, if you intend to unfuck your life in under the five years it took me, get a van, deck it out all cozy-like, and do your best to blend into the background. Moving a few hours away might help in that regard.
Don’t get an rv, they’re cop magnets and they generally get run out of town. A minivan blends in well, a full size van is more comfortable but blends slightly less.
Walmart, Home Depot, 24-hour grocery stores, and some shopping center parking lots are usually safe places to sleep in a vehicle. Keep yourself and your vehicle legal or kiss it goodbye. You might find an acquaintance’s METHod a bit more your style- move every several hours from one known safe spot to another from your list of many spots to kill time that you’re gonna want to mentally make in the first couple months.

If your vehicle looks scuzzy and/or lived-in at first glance, expect to have tweakers, crackheads, and/or junkies trying to sell to or buy from you regularly. Keep it clean or you might start losing things (including bits of yourself).

Good luck out there.

Io! How's it going? I'm travelling to Hong Kong, China, and maybe some other country in SE Asia at the end of this year and wanted to ask a couple questions.

If anyone's from around there/has travelled there, would you care to answer if:

Do they check your stuff to check you don't have anything against the regime (say, books on politics, for example)?

Are you allowed to take food from other countries into China/HK? (say, a bigass bag of tee, for example). Oh, and tobacco. Can I take some tobacco with me, or will I get stripped in the border?

Can you get weed, MD-, or psys in HK or in mainland China? How dangerous/expensive is it? Can you get any drugs at all there? In case we get some, is it safer for a man or for a woman to carry it? (I mean, who tends to get checked more).

if u are going to hk i wouldnt worry about literature. for alcohol and tobacco, there will be a clearly displayed limit on the amount you can bring through without paying some tax or being denied or whatever. usually its a lot, like several bottles of liquor or a few cartons of cigs or something before they give a shit. dry packaged foods such as tea are fine, they just stop produce and fruit and animals. but for any illegal drugs like weed just forget about it. you gotta be in the know, and youll be a clueless foreigner, and the potential consequences for it can be extreme

So, hoping someone might have some insight on this.

I have also considered it just putting it in my suitcase that's checked luggage - I'm not sure what's riskier suitcase or private shipping. To be fair I've taken 30 or so Xan no issue in checked luggage before.

So I want to smuggle 10g of Bud, vacuumed sealed - 50 Xan bars & Wax concentrates & Hash - The plan to be to conceal it all within something and have it Express shipped by DPD who are similar to UPS, DHL, TNT Etc.

Any advice or insight or thoughts would be appreciated thanks!

Hello everyone. I have a loaded question today. For context, this is for US citizens that only possess US passports. We could also talk about other Western countries, but apart from the UK or US I'm not particularly interested.

First and foremost I have never been suspected of any crime, nor is my passport revoked in any way. However, with a combination of the possibility of trumped charges and other concerns within my lifetime, I am heavily interested in discussion the extradition status of overseas countries.

Anyone can use Google to read which countries officially have "no extradition agreement" with the US or the UK.

To assume this as gospel is insane.

I want to hear from people knowledgeable on the issue.

Preferred countries:

>no formal extradition treaty with US (you can leave out countries that have them but don't enforce them; not worth the risk IMO)

>HAVE THE BEST DEPORTATION LAWS.

This is BY FAR the most important apart from the risk of being arrested regardless of treaties.

Does your suggestion have good Visa laws? Which countries offer the longest visas? Which ones actually approve the 10 year visa requests? Are there ways to renew visas and such or will they likely reject everything and attempt to deport you?

>How corrupt are the LEO

This can be good and bad. You may be able to bribe your way out when you otherwise couldn't in another countries, but it's also possible for them to deport you when they legally don't have grounds or a legal justification.

>What countries border the country you suggest? Do these border countries regularly expedite or deport? Is it possible to leave for another country (legally) if the country you're leaving has revoked your visa and wishes to deport you? If not, does the border countries often have weak access points you can get across easily?

>Secondary, how expensive is it to survive in your country suggestion? Is the price worth it?

Thoughts? I want to hear from others before I offer my suggestions.

how exactly would you get anywhere in an airport if you were wanted to the point where you'd be extradited from a foreign country (you wont even get extradited to counties in the same state for misdemeanor warrants sometimes)? doesn't seem realistic in 2018. your best bet would be south of the border, changing identity.

It's all about the countries you fly out of, and if they assist the US in extradition. Depending on the crime, Mexico would definitely assist them. The obvious answer is to travel by car south through the border, on through Mexico, until you reach another South American country that doesn't extradite (I need to do research, but I'm thinking like maybe...Colombia? Definitely Venezuela for sure?). Then you fly direct into your final destination if possible, or if you MUST do a connecting flight, make sure the connecting country doesn't assist the US in extradition.

The UAE is well known not to extradite, and they're also one of the most popular connecting flight countries. They only issue I can see with SE Asia is a LOT of the connecting flights land in Bangkok first, and Thailand extradites. So yeah, it's absolutely doable, you just can't really show up to the ticket counter saying "I want to pay in cash, one way, and the connecting flight countries need to be so and so," lol.
