I'm currently dealing with a pretty big fuckup, not even my fault really. The guy who sold me the part has absolutely no excuse to have not known better and its causing me one hell of a headache.

I'm hoping some others can share stories of times they fucked up through their own, or someone else's fault, to make me feel better. Maybe I'll even give you my story if yours make mine look not so bad.

You can't buy weed on the street in most of the US.

Any one selling weed on the street is going to rob you.

Every one in florida smokes, befriend alternative looking people then ask em where da weed at.

I know its legal, but i heard they're strict on the public use of it and what not. So where are good places to smoke? what are some dos n donts with the colordao weed experience?

The law enforcement stance is kind of like authoritative parents telling their stoner child: "We know you're doing it, just don't let us catch you."

Basically any conspicuous public use, even in an enclosed vehicle, is grounds for citation. Herb smell is a dead giveaway, so I would recommend edibles and vaping whatever concentrate delights your pleasure receptors.

There's probably a driver's manual available wherever you are at. There tends to be a lot of procedural stuff in there, exactly what's supposed to happen at a 4-way-stop, what to do at a one lane bridge, the like.

Driving school might be a good idea for you. Check what's available, price, reputation, possible reductions on your insurance.

>Where does one even learn to drive?
Driving schools are mandatory in my country (for now), but even if they're not mandatory in yours, i'd take it.
Not only will you be sure you're up to accepted standards, but you're pretty sure that you don't pick up bad habits from your dad/mom/spouse/whoever

As >>35532 mentions, they may also give some insurance benefits and additional options.
If you live far from nearest town/city, i'd grab trailer driving lessons as well.
If you live in a cold area with risk of lots of ice and snow, i'd strongly suggest you take a winter or ice driving safety course as well.

>How do I read the signs?
You'll learn that in the theoretical part of the driving lessons or from the book. The primary ones you need to concentrate on are speed limits and the signs that indicate the state of the road up ahead (like eg. a roadworks, yield or narrowing road sign) or localized rules (eg. a "one way" sign).
A few signs also help with gauging sharp corners etc.

Training with simulation-oriented racing games (eg. Gran Tourismo) helped me to learn to pick up signs and cues. On a race track there is also signage that helps you gaugewhen to brake and turn.

>Any books or online articles I can read?
You'll likely be given a training book or manual as part of your lessons.
On the other hand, there's not really any good books on the subject, but a lot of different driving simulators have cropped up here and there. A few are all-in-one games, while others focus on one area (eg. parking or naviagtion)

>Any tips?
I suggest reading into basic car maintenance and emergency procedures as well. (optionally take a first-aid course once every few years, which can also have job-related benefits)
I also suggest you study the car manual well and learn how to read the service list (this will help you against nasty surprises when buying a used car).
Being able to switch your own lightbulbs and refill the various fluids on your own can save you a lot of money down the road.
Women, elderly people, Audi and BMW drivers are good at showing you how NOT to drive in traffic. The same goes for most C-level workers out there. Especially study anyone that are mismatched with their vehicle (like an itty-bitty lady in a HUGE SUV)
Never drive with a handheld cellphone! Multitasking is a muscle that grows weaker with use!

Im not getting a damn car payment. I'd rather wait until I'm in a new place and get my tax return. Problem is I want this specific car. There's only 2 that are under 100kmiles in my area one being 88k the other 56.
Obviously can't garuntee those will be there by then.
I'm in the Northeast. Willing to travel.
The 100+ miles will probably end up shittin out on Me sooner requiring maintence.

So just how rare are they?

>plus I'm working on my credit
I don't know what your exact situation is like, but my car loan did wonders for my credit it. I had about 4k cash plus a thousand on my trade in for a 10k car. The loan I got through a local credit union was for three years at 4.7% APR with very little credit, no penalty for paying the principal off early. This was buying through a used car dealership, mind you (evidently the only honest one in the area).

Anyway, good luck finding your white whale, OP. I'm just giving you some food for thought.

Maybe I'll just forever have to be on foot. While that would help my credit even with working full time I never have any money left over after rent and bills as it is. I maybe have 100-200 tops which in this state would just barely cover insurance let alone a car payment.

I'll be waaay down south and just a few hours ferry ride away from Hong Kong Zhongshan. Looks pretty neat but I am fucking OUT OF MY ELEMENT and wondering if anyone here has any tips for living in the great peoples republic.

Pretty lazy thing to ask but does anyone know the drugs scene at all down there? I hear ket is pretty big in some parts, I can defo get into that.

if you get a break from work you could go to Yangshuo, it's a few hours by train. Its really touristy but also beautiful. There's a bar there called Monkey Jane's rooftop and its the definition of a dive bar. You can smoke weed all you want there and play beerpong with the bar owner. I forgot her name but she has alot of coffee-cup tattoos and some of Dutch football teams. I hung out there one night and at sunrise we all climbed a mountain to watch it.

I'll go through my post one point at a time.
>Really Really like it down here
Yup still enjoying myself, every day at some point I smile to myself and think "fucking china..." and it's just great.
>Fucking hot
Cooling down now but things are gonna get ridiculously hot next summer. It is insane how hot it can get, I don't know how anyone got anything done back in the day.

Everything I said about the classes still stands. Although it is kinda chaotic sometimes, lots of last minute changes. I'm also struggling with discipline. The Chinese teachers come and take control if things get out of hand but it's not a good feeling to just hand your authority off to them.

I've been out every weekend and am yet to buy a drink. Other than when I went to Hong Kong. The culture here is table beers and if you're white you can take them, that's the vibe I've got.
>I really feel like I've lucked out with this move and the placement I've got. In a super wealthy well off area with low crime rate and loads of great places to eat. I'm sure there's some brutal places to teach english but Zhongshan really isn't one of them.
Yeah this is exactly how I feel about it now. It's not a walk in the park but I've got Chinese friends who can help me out and the mandarin classes are helping.

I didn't drive for years because I was afraid of cars I mean those seat belts are dangerous!

So I took then out and made to wheel out of death so I would have an incentive to not speed

Still gained weight though, the car not me

I've been driving beaters my whole life, up until recently, but I keep the beater cause she likes to get beat on.

First beater started well but went to shit with brake problems, power steering got fucked, exhaust system cracked in half, had some shitty accidents once involving black ice and a curb, another involving a concrete column. Rusted to shit, rear end was fucked, alignment was fucked, finally bought another beater and trashed this one for $200 bucks.

Next car started well but went to shit with brake problems, power steering got fucked, exhaust system cracked in half, etc. On this car, I replaced:

2 control arms, radiator, full front/rear brakes, rear brake lines, battery, alternator, belts, wheel bearings (not myself), exhaust flex line, spark plugs/wires, distributor cap, vapor vent valve, and probably other things too. It was a real learning experience. I have more tools than I ever thought I would own. But she still runs!

In this thread we ask the question,

"why in the fuck cant californians use their goddamn blinkers before making turns or lane changes?!"

My conclusion is that everybody in California is literally retarded and shouldnt be driving.

So since im tired of almost getting hit everytime i drive, lets start a new trend. Everytime i get cut off, or mr. Jackass decides not to use their blinker, im gonna throw a handful of pennies as hard as i fucking can at your car. :)
