this thread is for all the people, matches and gimmicks that are undeniably, certifiably, unequivocally, unanimously, fundamentally, 100% scientifically-proven B - A - S - E - D. BASED.

I'll start with the most universally-beloved suggestion: the true crossface submission master SID.

Dave Meltzer's star ratings are now posted in their own thread, so look for it.

> The WWE draft, held on the 10/9 Smackdown and 10/12 Raw shows, with a few lower picks at other times, saw most of the talent stay with their brand, with a few switches. The champions all stayed with their brand aside from a trade of tag team champions, with Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods (who beat Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro for the Smackdown tag titles on 10/9) going to Raw and The Street Profits going to Smackdown. They had both on television on 10/12 and they simply switched belts. There was an unmistakable series of trades of people of similar level, but the key take is that of what appeared to be the company’s three hottest acts, Roman Reigns & Paul Heyman; The Mysterio family vs. Seth Rollins & Murphy, and Bayley vs. Sasha Banks, Smackdown got all three. Perhaps one could argue that Raw did get The Fiend & Alexa Bliss combination.

> Perhaps the most talked about aspect was the split up of The New Day, with Kingston & Woods moving to Raw as tag team champions and Big E staying a single. The idea is to get Big E away from the act and make him more serious for a singles push. Historically, WWE has broken up tag team acts in the draft before and while there are exceptions, most of the time they find out the combination of parts was more effective than the parts individually. One would suspect E getting a major singles push, which was talked about weeks ago and somewhat started. The idea is to get him out of the comedic mode. There is a logic to it even though, because the New Day has been established together for so many years and have been popular, there was going to be a negative reaction breaking them up without a storyline leading to it.

> Trying to use logic to explain the draft is a waste of time. Such as, if acts can be drafted together, why did Raw pick Woods & Kingston and not Big E when it was specifically stated acts will be drafted together and in the WWE’s own listings of who can be picked, The New Day was listed as all three together. But that wasn’t the only act broken up. Lucha House Party was a similar situation, with Lince Dorado & Gran Metalik moved to Raw while Kalisto stayed on Smackdown. So in this case, they had spent weeks building up the split and feud with Dorado and Kalisto with Metalik in the middle, and dropped it cold without so much as one match. Heavy Machinery was also broken up even though they were supposed to be grouped together. Tucker is a very good athlete and talented, but he’s going to have a very difficult time as a single. Plus, with his size, it looks silly to put him in a jobber role because he’ll make the heels look small. There was no reason to break them up, also because even if the idea is of Otis as a single, they actually had good believability as best friends, and Otis is far better playing off Tucker as the straight guy than on his own.

> A few acts, Elias on Raw and Lars Sullivan on Smackdown, returned after lengthy absences. Elias had surgery for a torn pec and they did an accident angle where Hardy was accused of running him over, but it was later said to be a guy with red hair and a red beard (Sheamus). But Elias returned as a heel and blamed Hardy nonetheless. Sullivan had major knee surgery, and it got infected at one point keeping him out even longer. But he has been ready for some time and they waited until this week to bring him back.

> There was controversy on Sullivan because of tweets he made before he was in WWE on a bodybuilding forum. Even though they happened before he was with WWE, and WWE was aware of them long before and had said all was okay, when they resurfaced when he was on the main roster, WWE fined him $100,000, which was a real umber. He also apologized toa number of wrestlers as well before suffering the knee injury. Riddle was still being used and pushed after the lawsuit was filed against him, but that was also a situation the company had investigated and known about for more than one year. Plus, the company itself was being sued. But they did stop cold the mentio…

>Watch AEW Dynamite with /wooo/ in /wooo/tube - http://taima.tv/r/wooo and /wooo/alt - http://taima.tv/r/woooalt at 8pm Eastern//Midnight London. Dynamite will be preceded by a replay of AEW Dark. On tonight's show:
  • AEW World Title Eliminator Semi-Final: "The Cleaner" Kenny Omega vs. Penta El Zero M
  • AEW World Title Eliminator Semi-Final: "Hangman" Adam Page vs. Wardlow.
  • Lumberjack match for the TNT Championship: Cody (c) vs. "Freshly Squeezed" Orange Cassidy.
  • NWA Women's Championship bout: Serena Deeb (c) vs. Leyla Hirsch.
  • "The Last of a Dying Breed" Eddie Kingston vs. Matt Sydal.
  • Abadon vs "Brazilian BBJ Booty Babe" Tay Conti - Match pulled due to an Abadon injury
  • The Inner Circle's Town Hall: MJF and Jericho will debate the merits of MJF joining the Inner Circle and becoming the most unstoppable force in wrestling history
  • Shawn Spears in action.
It’s full-throttle on the road to AEW Full Gear. The Dynamite on Halloween week was recorded last week and will feature another jam-packed show. The TNT Title will be contested in a lumberjack match as Cody faces Orange Cassidy. In addition, the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament continues with both Semi-Final Matchups. After a stellar entrance, Kenny Omega has begun to return to his Cleaner roots and will fight Penta El Zero M. Hangman Page continues to make his name known in singles contention as he faces Wardlow. Eddie Kingston takes on Matt Sydal before facing Jon Moxley in two weeks. Finally, there will be a Town Hall Discussion on whether or not MJF will join the Inner Circle.

>Inner Circle Town Hall Meeting
Last week, the entire world was graced with Le Dinner Debonair. MJF and Chris Jericho sang My Shadow and Me with an entire choreographed routine. Now, the entire Inner Circle will meet in a Town Hall Meeting to decide MJF’s fate. Sammy Guevara, along with Santana & Ortiz, are not MJF’s biggest supporters. It will be interesting to see where this story will be heading. Will MJF finally join the Inner Circle?

>Kenny Omega vs. Penta El Zero M
The AEW World Title Tournament will now enter into the semifinals. After Rey Fenix suffered a neck injury, he forfeited his spot to his brother. A rematch from ALL IN two years ago. Kenny Omega and Penta El Zero M will do battle once again. “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega defeated Sonny Kiss in less than a minute, cementing himself as the favorite to win the entire tournament. Kenny is adamant and obsessed with becoming AEW World Champion. The Best Bout Machine will stop at nothing to fight Mox once again. Fenix defeated his brother last week after a Canadian Destroyer before it was announced he would have to relinquish his spot. The masked brothers continue to have issues that are highly teasing a split between the former Lucha Underground stars.

>Hangman Adam Page vs. Wardlow
Hangman Page will take on his biggest challenge yet, literally. Mr. Mayhem beat Jungle Boy definitively to earn his spot in the semi-finals. The Anxious Millennial Cowboy emerged victorious after a few close calls with “Boom Boom” Colt Cabana. With everything Adam Page has gone through in AEW, he is going to have to fight with all he has to defeat this mammoth of a man. Wardlow has begun to stand on his own outside of MJF’s shadow. With MJF intending to join the Inner Circle on AEW Dynamite, where will the War Dog’s path lead him?

>Eddie Kingston vs. Matt Sydal
Just announced recently via Twitter, the Mad King will face the former Evan Bourne in singles competition. After an initial slip up, Matt Sydal has began to find his groove in AEW. Though still a free agent, it is likely the Elite will offer him a contract soon. Meanwhile, Eddie Kingston has consistently been a tour de force in his tenure. Kingston has knocked it out of the park with his promos and will face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship in an I Quit Match on November 7th.

>Cody vs. Orange Cassidy: TNT Title Lumberjack Match
The TNT Title is on the line. After a time limit draw. Cody and Orange Cassidy will meet once again to determine a winner. Orange Cassidy was only one second away from becoming winning the red and gold strap. Cody will do everything he can to remain champion en route to his scheduled defense against Darby Allin. The Dark Order will be at ringside as lumberjacks. After Brodie Lee‘s loss to Cody, the spooky perverts will be out for revenge against both challenger and champion.

>Serena Deeb vs. Leyla Hirsch: NWA Women’s World Championship
Last night, Serena Deeb shocked the world to become the new NWA Women’s Champion by defeating Thunder Rosa. Serena has put indie women’s wrestling on notice and tonight, on AEW Dynamite, she will make her first scheduled title defense against “Legit” Leyla Hirsch. The former Pro-Wrestling Eve and STARDOM standout has a chance for gold and notoriety. Earlier in the week, due to Abadon’s injury, many people believed AEW was not going to have a women’s match this episode. Thankfully, things have changed and this match will likely air live. Serena Deeb now has the entire world buzzing.

As long as COVID is a thing/all AEW shows emanate from Dailys Place, then AEW PPVs lose a little bit of importance. They just kind of become 3 hour long ad-free Dynamite episodes behind a $50 paywall.

Plus, if Time Warner is dealing with post HBOMax layoffs/budget cuts, it's probably even more important to stay on TNT's good side; its a bigger revenue driver than PPV buyrates and they have no live event gate to recoup.

I wouldn't be surprised to get Mox vs Omega on TV on a special episode, I'm just curious *when* that would be? Thanksgiving Eve? The Wednesday before Xmas? The first Wednesday of 2021?

NXT will absolutely run Starrcade, New Years Revolution and/or Superbrawl as counter programming.

Here's how I'm imagining it playing out
>Hangman beats Kenny
>Kenny goes full heel after the match and attacks Hangman to the extent where Hangman's off TV for a good amount of time (at least the rest of the year)
>Next Dynamite Kenny calls out MOX and challenges him for the title that night
>A beat up MOX accepts Kenny's challenge
>Kenny wins the title, still having to resort to cheating despite MOX being in rough shape
>Jump forward to January or Double or Nothing
>Kenny retains the title
>While Kenny cuts his post-match promo Hangman comes out and buck shot's Kenny
>Build to the feud and Hangman's title win there.

My only issue with this is Kenny needs a long reign to really cement him as AEW's new ace heel and doing this would have him drop the title relatively quickly unless you somehow drag Hangman's return out longer than I'd like. Whereas if Kenny beats Hangman you can have Hangman go on some kind of redemption arc and stretch that out a few months to a year before returning to do Hangman v Omega 2.

>Jon Moxley (c) vs Eddie Kingston - I Quit Match (AEW World Title)
Moxley wins.

>FTR (c) vs The Young Bucks - If The Bucks lose they'll never challenge for the titles again (AEW Tag Team Titles)
I would say its too early for FTR to lose but I cant see The Bucks never challenging again so The Bucks.

>Cody (c) vs Darby Allin (TNT Title)
Cody's winning. Theyre doing the Raven/Tommy Dreamer story with Darby and Cody.

>Hikaru Shida (c) vs Nyla Rose (AEW Women's World Title)
Shida wins and moves on to Britt Baker.

>Kenny Omega vs Hangman Adam Page - Winner receives future AEW World Title shot
If the title match is for Revolution then Kenny wins and hopefully bigger crowds are allowed back by then. If it's for a random Dynamite then Hangman wins.

>Chris Jericho vs MJF - If MJF wins he joins The Inner Circle
MJF wins and The Inner Circle turn on Jericho and Sammy.

Matt Hardy vs Sammy Guevara - Elite Deletion match
Matt Hardy wins.

Orange Cassidy vs John Silver
Orange Cassidy wins. John Silver gets more over.

Ilja Dragunov. I didn't really think much of him until I saw that Tag Team match between him and Pete Dunne vs Wolfe and Walter

After I watched that match I started watching his best of Progress compilation and saw his 1 on 1 matches with Timothy Thatcher and Pete Dunne.

He's slowly entering into the "boys" status. I love his finisher.

I'd say Jordan Devlin for me. My first exposure to him, he seemed solid but bland. "Good hand" territory. But he has really come into his own in the last few years, dude was doing great work before the pandemic hit. Really good in-ring and I feel like he's an underrated promo as well. This one from recently on the whole real cruiserweight champion thing I thought was really well done.

agree on this. I think wrestling fans in general are much too conservative (with a small c) when it comes to the 'art' of wrestling and are quite hypocritical in the sense that they demand difference, but are quick to try and shut down anything new.

Case in point is Matt Hardy and the Broken stuff.

Just randomly on the recently added section of the network and saw a good batch of house show footage. Took me off guard, but also happy and based that house show footage now slowly creeping onto the network.
Some of it remastered and some looks like the raw feed of it. Reminded me of our boy Tri.Moon :(

The camera quality of the orton vs hhh match looks stunning. Looks like it was recorded today. Anyone know anything the models of cameras that WWE used throughout its history?
