Aces of Poker (LA Park/ hijo de Fantasma/ Psycho Clown / Pentagon jr mask match) from Triplemania has a good amount of spectacle

It's important to be kinda patient getting into lucha. There's a lot of little things and some fairly big things different, like if how DBZ, Naruto, and Fist of the North Star all play the same basic notes but the nitty gritty can play out noticeably differently to the point that even their basic punching and kicking can have a very different look depending on the guys.
CMLL is the big mainstay of the traditional lucha style by any accounts I hear. Indies vary from group to group because they're indies, AAA has sort of a mix of traditional lucha, crash tv 90s Monday Night War brawling, and Mexican hardcore indies. AAA seems to be easier to jump into from the USA scene.
The CMLL weekly shows are also good to get a baseline of what's normal over time. There's some duds, some okay stuff, usually some good stuff too, but if you only watch "the good matches" you'll get a skewed perspective on things too.

EVOLVE returns for a historic weekend of shows with 131 and 132. At 131, history will be made when EVOLVE Wrestling’s 10th Anniversary Celebration streams live on WWE Network. The event, which will emanate from South Philadelphia’s famous 2300 Arena, will be the first non-WWE in-ring event to stream live on WWE Network since its launch in February 2014. Long considered the pinnacle of independent wrestling, EVOLVE Wrestling has been the home of many current WWE and NXT Superstars over the years, with past alumni including the likes of Daniel Bryan, Ricochet, Drew McIntyre and Undisputed ERA. EVOLVE continues to regularly feature WWE and NXT Superstars on its events, and the 10th Anniversary Celebration — headlined by NXT Champion Adam Cole vs. 205 Live’s Akira Tozawa — is no different. Also slated for the card is a bout between NXT’s Matt Riddle and WWE Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak, a “Winner Take All” match between EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory and WWN Champion JD Drake, and much more. Then at 132 in Melrose, Massachusetts, Matt Riddle will face off against Curt Stallion in the main event. Here's the lineup for both shows:

>EVOLVE 131: 10th Anniversary Celebration - Saturday @ 8pm EDT / 1am BST

*NXT Championship Match: Adam Cole (c) vs. Akira Tozawa
*Winner Takes All Match for both the EVOLVE & WWN Championships: Austin Theory (EVOLVE c) vs. JD Drake (WWN c)

AEW FIGHT FOR THE FALLEN THREAD Ignore Report View Thread Reply

>Watch AEW Fight for the Fallen starting with The Buy In at 7:30pm EDT / 12:30am BST followed by the main show at 8:15pm EDT / 1:15am BST in /wooo/tube - http://taima.tv/r/wooo and /wooo/alt - http://taima.tv/r/woooalt

From Daily’s Place Amphitheater, in Jacksonville, Florida, presented by sponsor Farah & Farah, AEW will be running its third colossal event, FIGHT FOR THE FALLEN, with all of the proceeds from the gate going towards Jacksonville's Victim Assistance Advisory Council to help victims of violent crimes.

In a dream tag team main event, The Young Bucks, Nick and Matt Jackson, will square off with Cody and Dustin Rhodes, for the first—and perhaps final—time! The Bucks, arguably the greatest tag team of the modern era, have spent most of 2019 embroiled in a heated rivalry with the Lucha Bros. They hold two wins against the Lucha Bros. in an AEW ring, the first at DOUBLE OR NOTHING this past May in Vegas, and the second just weeks ago at FYTER FEST (in the aforementioned three-man tag with their Being the Elite partner, Kenny Omega). Cody battled brother Dustin Rhodes in an instant classic at DOUBLE OR NOTHING, where the two came to terms and reformed their bond. In an emotional scene, Cody requested that Dustin team with him at FIGHT FOR THE FALLEN. With little hesitation, Dustin agreed, and the two embraced, putting the past behind them. The Bucks have been poking and prodding Cody and Dustin Rhodes during the past few weeks, mocking the poignant and tearful post-match promo from DOUBLE OR NOTHING (“Dustin, I don’t need a partner. I don’t need a friend. I need my older brother!”). Cody and Dustin Rhodes haven’t tagged with one another in over four years, but they’re looking to recapture some of the magic again, and a win over the Young Bucks would certainly do the trick. Here's the lineup for the show:

Tag Team Match: Cody & Dustin Rhodes vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson)

Singles Match: Kenny Omega vs. CIMA

Singles Match: Adam Page vs. Kip Sabian

Singles Match: Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie

Three Way Tag Team Match: The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) vs. Angélico & Jack Evans vs. Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus
The winners advance to All Out for an opportunity at a first round bye in the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament

Tag Team Match: SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) w/ Christopher Daniels vs. The Lucha Bros (Pentagón Jr. & Rey Fenix)

Six Man Tag Team Match: Jimmy Havoc, Darby Allin, & Joey Janela vs. MJF, Sammy Guevara, & Shawn Spears

The Buy In Singles Match: Sonny Kiss vs. Peter Avalon w/ Leva Bates

The Buy In Tag Team Match: Britt Baker & Riho vs. Bea Priestley & Shoko Nakajima

Plus Chris Jericho will be in attendance at FIGHT FOR THE FALLEN, for the first time since his victory over Kenny Omega at DOUBLE OR NOTHING. Is Jericho looking for more than a “thank you” from Tony Khan and the AEW roster?

It made sense in Chikara and canadian promotions and stuff when they were SSB and they had the angle to turn them so they're basically evil video game people, their creepers used to be called The Heartless etc.

But now they have to be reintroduced to America, in a new promotion with new lore, and they're continuing an angle nobody even knew about, so the fans have no context, so I agree it makes no sense.

I'd have just turned them face again and did the whole video games thing, or if they wanna do the Dark Order stuff make it different, just full on spooky dark boys with new names, new gear, the lot.

So with matches like the Last Battle of Atlanta and Tom Magee vs. Bret Hart finally being shown and uploaded and watching tons of Hidden Gems on WWE, what are
matches that everyone is hoping to uncover next?

I guess the most obvious one is the dark match between Kurt Angle and Owen Hart, one could say maybe WWE doesn't have a random dark match but considering WWE has rare dark matches of The Rock, Konnan, Sabu, and Razor Ramon that have never been seen before until now, I would think this match is somewhere plus Blue Meanie mentioned on Twitter that he saw the match backstage being shown before Raw would start

When did the term "workrate" become synonymous with good wrestling? I notice that some people don't even realise that it has a specific meaning of the amount of time a wrestler is active in the ring opposed to the time they are resting.

Are there any wrestlers/matches that have high workrate but bad matches?

Are there any wrestlers/matches that have poor workrate but good matches?

“La Parka” vs LA Park.
OP, you and I probably have a lot of similar tastes, and I’m not much of a lucha guy, but fake La Parka and LA Park going at it, absolutely destroying each other, is one of the hardest fought, most emotional bouts I’ve ever seen.
All you need to know going into it, storyline wise, is LA Park is pissed that this guy has been using his name, and this match is for the right to be known as La Parka.

What are some examples in wrestling not just in WWE but unanimously in the business as a whole were there moments where a booker was trying desperately to promote someone but something universally shitty happened and ruined any serious chance that wrestler could have had

Now before you start dart boarding the obvious examples like Roman Reigns and John Cena I was thinking more so stars that perfectly fit the narrative how either the audience notices he has something and they wanna see that wrestler develop or said wrestler is more so a passion project for one of the guys in back really hoping to get this person over.

A couple of examples are Bobby Lashley. One of the two times ever Vince actually paid attention to what was happening over at the Ohio Branch since he didn't get the record until later how much merch money Cena could sell at a theoretical level. The whole Bobby Lashley ordeal was the straw that led to Cornette quitting OVW much like how Heyman essentially quit on the ECW reboot after Lashley won the ECW Championship

Other examples include Cesaro. His moment was most likely the segment where he botched the "4 ropes. 4 sides" promo. There is Ryback who had his push killed by trying to show off also being a "sensitive" person when he's not in the ring and had segments of him promoting his shit self help book. A big example being Alex Riley and how Kevin Owens buried himself so hard into the core of the planet but there was no point in doing this since Kevin already gave Alex the shovel.

>Puro Tube is on Tuesdays at 3pm EDT / 8pm BST in /wooo/tube -http://taima.tv/r/woooand mainly shows promotions outside of Dragon Gate and NJPW. Join in as everyone argues why their favorite fed is superior and Yanopost, Anopost, CIMApost and dance like Keita until your tummy is full from all that snackpine.
>DG Tube is on Thursdays at 8pm EDT / 1am BST in Mondai Night Ryu -http://taima.tv/r/mondainightryuand features the latest and classic Dragon Gate shows. Other stuff is featured here from time to time as well. (like cheesy 80s films or the mega marathon before Kobe World and recently OWE)
>NJPW on AXS TV is also on Thursdays at 9pm EDT / 2am BST in /wooo/tube featuring matches from latest shows with commentary by Kevin Kelly and Don Callis/Rocky Romero. Replays air on Fridays at 2:15pm EDT / 7:15pm BST (1:20pm EDT / 6:20pm BST if there are two episodes) in /wooo/tube.

Outside of Puro Tube, there's usually a few puro marks in the chat that can help fill you in on storylines and find you matches. Just show up outside of big shows like Raw, and you'll find someone in there to help you out. Puro matches also show up in the playlist, so scroll around to find them. NJPW, DG, and DDT live events are regularly streamed in the tubes, check the schedule for details.

>THE MAJOR FEDS:

NJPW: Oldest and largest promotion in Japan. Owned by Bushiroad and is booked by Gedo. His booking gets the tubes riled up sometimes (all the time), but the match quality generally makes up for it. In the midst of something of a revival, and although you may argue that it is already drawing to a close, they are still doing good business at the moment. They run one of the largest shows in wrestling, called Wrestle Kingdom, every year on January 4th at the fabled Tokyo Dome. Most every show they run, large and small, air in the tubes. They have a slew of foreign wrestlers on their roster right now. They also have a wonderful streaming website over athttp://njpwworld.com/

Dragon Gate: Almost certainly the second largest promotion in Japan. Born out of the Toryumon promotion, which was the brainchild of Ultimo Dragon, their style is a mixture of classic puro, cruiserweight/junior heavyweight sprints, and lucha libre. Stable warfare is a huge part of the promotion, with most every wrestler in the company being aligned with a unit in some way. Though it is a big promotion, they retain a grassroots feel, with wrestlers selling merch before and after shows, and running many shows out of community centers and gyms. Most of their large shows air in the tubes, and footage is also posted here. They also have a show that is filmed monthly in their little studio in Kobe called Prime Zone which is wacky, fun, and full of Mondai Ryu schemes. They recently joined the streaming bandwagon over athttps://dragongate.live

DDT: Indie promotion gunning for the second-largest-in-Japan spot alongside Dragon Gate. Founded in 1997 by Sanshiro Takagi (a big Stone Cold Steve Austin fan), they have taken the western sports entertainment style to the next level with ridiculous matches and outrageous gimmicks, like violently gay wrestlers, promos done in PowerPoint before matches, championships specifically for dark matches, and blow-up dolls and ladders winning titles. Despite the goofiness, there is tons of talent there, with names like Kota Ibushi, HARASHIMA, and Kenny Omega having been regulars at one point or another. They have released ddtuniverse, which is like NJPW World. A streaming site for all your DDT needs. The other companies that work alongside DDT also have their stuff on there. They, like NJPW have a great streaming service over athttp://ddtuniverse.com/

AJPW: Still rebuilding from the glory days of the 80s and 90s, when icons like Jumbo Tsuruta, Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Toshiaki Kawada, Stan Hansen, Genichiro Tenryu, and Akira Taue loomed large. They were nearly killed after Misawa formed Pro Wrestling NOAH, taking most of the roster with him, but after a decade and a half of turmoil, they are doing fairly well right now, thanks in no small part due to the efforts of Jun Akiyama. The 80s/90s classics are a must-watch for any new puro fan, and their current product ain't bad either. They also joined the streaming sensation sweeping Japan right now. Their website can be found over athttps://www.ajpw.tv

Apparently, it seems like Jae decided to shut down iheartdg.com after running it in some form for the last 19 years.
He's running Dragon Gate's official english twitter & facebook pages, so that'll probably be the main way people can keep up with DG promos & whatnot in the west going forward.

Lance bravado RNG is not an out of shape 54 year old who is one botched spot away from a heart attack. That's not worth an extra pool in your Texas mansion.

No. The whole Undertaker being broke thing is just a shitty meme from those "Undercarder" threads.
