WWE RAW: 10 top betrayals in Anime by Celt !BzcOsK03.w - Mon, 20 Feb 2017 15:42:51 EST ID:dVetD4yX No.5638017 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

WWE returns to the Staples Center in Los Angeles this Monday Night for the latest episode of Raw. With Fastlane around the corner, the Monday Night Raw roster could be feeling the heat to deliver big time and ‘big’ is the key word for this week’s show as well.

WWE has booked a ‘big’ match involving two big men for the show and they have pushed it heavily in the build-up to this episode.

>Answers from Owens
Arguably the biggest talking point of last week’s Raw was the turn of Kevin Owens. Owens turned on Chris Jericho during the show and it was a great moment for the creative team as a whole. The friendship of Owens and Jericho had been the backbone of Monday Night Raw for a long time and pulling the plug on it was a bold move.

If this was not enough, Owens has a match coming up with Goldberg at Fastlane for the title. The Universal title will be on the line and the split up with Jericho will have a huge impact on the match for sure. This week, Owens will have to give some answers and pile up some heat before he heads on to face Goldberg.

>Joe Joe Joe
After Seth Rollins was taken out of the scenario, Samoa Joe has shifted his focus to Sami Zayn. Zayn, who is coming off of feuds against Braun Strowman and Chris Jericho, has another strong opponent in the form of Joe.

Both the WWE and Zayn could easily play the underdog card in this feud and as a natural baby face, Zayn is bound to become a huge fan favourite throughout his struggle against Samoa Joe.

>What next for Emma?
Emmalina made an underwhelming return to Monday Night Raw. After all the build-up that WWE gave her, fans had high expectations for her return Emma. However, her much-anticipated appearance turned out to be somewhat anti-climactic when it finally did happen.

Emma just said that she is going to transform back to her old self and this was a talking point throughout the last seven days. There are a lot of questions that needs to be answered from the creative team and hopefully, we will get the answers this week.

>New champion for the women's division
Bayley was crowned the new WWE Raw Women’s champion this past week on Raw and it was a necessary power shift in the division. While Charlotte dropping the title is not something new, to see Bayley get hold of the gold was a special moment for the fans. This is exactly what WWE should bank on.

The interference of Dana Brooke and Sasha Banks during the match proved to be a talking point and it wouldn’t be a surprise if WWE addresses the same when they roll out Raw this week. Charlotte needs to bounce back if she is to challenge for the gold again and this should also be a concern for the WWE.

It's amazing that, just a year ago, Braun was easily one of the worst workers to ever make main roster TV since the Great Khali and now, he can be carried to a decent match.

Is it time to put the title on him?

>he's eventually going to be booked poorly and being the only well booked person on Raw is his main appeal

This. ..and like everyone else before him (Big E, Ryback, Rusev, etc.) he's getting praised and pampered by Vince, but in six months Vince will become bored like he always does and find a new toy. Plus these fans will turn on him, as usual, once his 'appeal' wears off. Rinse and repeat.

>A Florida man shot by an Orange County deputy outside the World Wrestling Entertainment facilities tried Friday to persuade a judge to grant him bond

>In court Friday, he had a few outbursts while trying to make his case for bond, blaming deputies for shooting him.
>“I’m the victim here. I was shot by police,” Montalvo said.

>Montalvo’s father testified that Montalvo is mentally ill.
>He said Montalvo has borderline personality disorder and schizophrenia, and without his medication, he tends to have outbursts.
>But the state gave those same reasons to argue that Montalvo should stay in jail, and the judge agreed.

I've been watching since the late 80's. I was 6 when I saw the debut of the undertaker. Had friends that watched as well. None of us were told Wrestling was fake.

We all just knew it was a show. theres was only 1 kid who was convinced it was real and tried to convince everyone else it was real too. No one ever bought the weird arguments he would come up with to back his claim.

The business has been exposed since it became mainstream in the 80's. During the territories you could get away with it since no normal person knew what grown men fighting looked like, also it was less choreographed. Once you had vikings and other goof ass characters no same person would believe it real.

When did you, as a viewer, fully become aware of Haitch's politics? For me, while the Booker incident was a warning because I was still a jimmy and I thought that as the champ of Raw, he had to have the spotlight, but it was Benoit's WHC run that made me think something was up (I got proper internet later on which confirmed my thoughs).

>Despite Benoit getting the big Mania moment, Raw was still all about HHH and his pursuing of the WHC and his feud with Shawn
>Benoit was relegated to the upper midcard, teaming with Edge even
>Orton won the belt only to drop it to HHH, who would dominate Raw up to the Batista feud

This means they're going to pop up multiple times and are trusted to be the oens ot hype the crowd in a long-ass show. Given that it's unlikely that they'll be facing for the titles, and are possibly bigger than the titles given the way The Club gets punked out by Roman 2v1 and Enzo/Cass somehow go voer Shemaus/Cesaro, this is not a downgrade/

The first few posts are from this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer's star ratings will be posted in this thread too.
Use this thread to post news as it comes through.

> AAA announced that Lucha Underground seasons one and two would be available on Netflix between March and May, so it wasn’t put up on 2/15, which was the original target date we’d been told

> Jeff Jarrett and officials from Anthem Entertainment are meeting with ITV in the U.K. on 2/16 regarding the proposed World of Sport wrestling show.

> There’s nothing new on Drew Galloway or the Hardys as far as contracts go, but all three are expected at the TNA tapings.

> There was a funny situation involving Josh Matthews this past week. TNA released a video interview of him where he said that he believed he was the best play-by-play announcer in the world and that there’s nobody who can touch what he does. When I heard that first I just figured he was trying to get a heel reaction from people, even though the lead play-by-play voice for a company shouldn’t be a heel. According to someone close to the situation, he actually was serious, but those in the company just saw it as an innocent statement, but the reaction saw people go nuts on him for it. I can’t see any wrestling announcer saying that and it not looking bad, but Matthews isn’t even that highly regarded in most places as an announcer. Anyway, once that caused all kinds of reaction, it appeared Matthews did turn it into a gimmick, which led to the comedy of EC III, in public, saying, “I stand by Josh Matthews’ claims on his play-by-play ability. It’s a difficult job to call some of the crap we’ve put on TV.”

> Vince wasn’t at any of the TV tapings this week nor at the Elimination Chamber show.

> The top WWE executives got their stock bonuses on 2/13 for the company meeting its performance expectations in 2016. Chief Revenue and Marketing Office Michelle Wilson got 232,157 shares (worth $5,260,678) and her total WWE stock is now worth $12.85 million. Stephanie McMahon Levesque got 38,507 shares (worth $872,569), and her total stock worth is now worth $44,894,626. WWE Studios head Michael Luisi got 30,805 shares (worth $698,041). Paul Levesque got 38,507 shares ($872,569) and his total is 130,654 (his total stock is worth $2,960,620). Kevin Dunn got 239,233 shares (worth $5,421,020) and his total stock worth is $14.29 million. Dunn then sold enough of his stock to pull out with $2,281,530 in new cash. George Barrios got 231,780 shares (worth $5,252,135) and his total stock is worth $17.37 million

THE STUFF IN THE TUBES:

>Puro Tube is on Tuesdays in /wooo/tube - http://taima.tv/r/wooo at 3pm EST / 8pm GMT and shows promotions outside of NOAH, NJPW, and Dragon Gate. Join in as everyone argues why their favorite fed is superior and Yanopost, Anopost, CIMApost and dance like Keita until your tummy is full from all that snackpine.
>DG Tube airs on Thursdays in Mondai Night Ryu - http://taima.tv/r/mondainightryu at 8pm EST / 1am GMT and features the latest and classic Dragon Gate shows as well as IPPV replays. Other stuff is featured here from time to time as well. (like cheesy 80s films or the mega marathon before Kobe World)
>NJPW on AXS TV also airs on Thursdays in /wooo/tube and /wooo/alt - http://taima.tv/r/woooalt at 10pm EST / 3am GMT showing matches from several months ago with English commentary provided by Jim Ross and Josh Barnett. Replays air on Fridays at 1:30pm EST / 6:30pm GMT.
>Besides /wooo/tube and /dg/tube, MokoTV provides IPTV feeds that are now blown wide open and you can watch whatever is airing on Samurai TV, Gaora, or G+ in there, at least until it's fixed by the Chinese pirates. http://taima.tv/r/mokotv

Outside of Puro Tube, there's usually a few puro marks in the chat that can help fill you in on storylines and find you matches. Just show up outside of big shows like Raw, and you'll find someone in there to help you out. Puro matches also show up in the playlist, so scroll around to find them. Shows and PPVs are regularly streamed in the tubes, check the schedule for details.

My google-fu has revealed to me her name is @krmcougar and on top of Naito, she's done SANADA, EVIL with a friend doing BUSHI, and finally a very interesting take on Kojima.

Here's her SANADA.

So long term...where can she go?

She's in a division where yes, she stands out due to her size and right now she's the unstoppable monster but...what happens when she's beat? You can't book somebody like Brock Lesnar if there's little depth and once she's pinned all her magic goes. So once she has that belt and drops it....does she wind up like the Big Show? Just sort of floating as this "unstoppable force" but never really doing anything?

Thoughts?

Pursuing judo while enrolled in Tokyo's Teikyo University, Shinya Makabe passed an NJPW admission test in February 1996 and enrolled in the New Japan dojo in April of that year, training there for ten months. He made his debut the following year, losing to Shinjiro Otani on February 15, 1997. He changed his given name to "Togi" during the 2004 G1 Climax tournament. His status in New Japan rose significantly in 2007, making it to the finals of the New Japan Cup and the semifinals of the G1 Climax, and challenging Yuji Nagata for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. After a number of unsuccessful challenges at the title, Makabe finally won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on May 3, 2010, by defeating Shinsuke Nakamura. Since then, he has reunited with Tomoaki Honma and together as G.B.H. (Great Bash Heel), they have won World Tag League back-to-back as well as being IWGP Tag Team Champions and Makabe won his 2nd title, the NEVER Openweight Championship from Tomohiro Ishii. Today, NJPW celebrates Togi Makabe's 20th anniversary of wrestling for the promotion from Korakuen Hall and in the main event, Makabe and Honma team up against former G.B.H. stablemates and current IWGP Tag Team Champions Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano of CHAOS. Here's the lineup for the show:

Tag Team Match: CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano) vs. G.B.H. (Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma)

Six Man Tag Team Match: CHAOS (Hirooki Goto, Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. Tencozy (Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima) & Manabu Nakanishi

Ten Man Tag Team Match: David Finlay, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Juice Robinson, KUSHIDA & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, EVIL, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA & Tetsuya Naito)

Eight Man Tag Team Match: Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki, Taichi, Takashi Iizuka & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) vs. Jushin Thunder Liger, Katsuyori Shibata, Tiger Mask & Yuji Nagata

Tag Team Match: Suzuki-gun (El Desperado & TAKA Michinoku) vs. World Class Tag Team (Gedo & Jado)

Is EWR stuff okay? I'm going to assume it is.

I had Jervis in my fed for about 6 months. I made him and Dalton Castle one of my top tag teams. About the 4th month in, my agents said Jervis was being an asshole backstage. Fine. Come month 6, I got an incident report saying he had a coke addiction. Let him go because he was no longer a sweet man.

Also with Dalton. About a month after I let Jervis go he broke his leg and was set to be out for like 6 months. He just recently came back but I had to change his written contract to a verbal. I really have no idea what the fuck to do with him right now but I'm sure the time will come.

I had something similar happen to me in 1998 with Taz and Mysterio. I was pushing both hard then Taz injuries his knee loses thirty points in Brawl and Tech and returns 8 months later to nothing for him because he sucks now. Mysterio broke his fucking leg and his speed stat dropped forty points and too became unusable. It was heart breaking.

WWE's negligence with Tyson Kidd's injury by Koko B. Ware - Mon, 20 Feb 2017 13:30:41 EST ID:BlrIoG3o No.5637881 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

This isn't a Ryback podcast shill thread but someone uploaded these comments he made recently about the way WWE handled Tyson Kidd's broken neck:

https://youtu.be/KJEF0LIvMdc?t=2m30s (starts at 2:30)
>by the way, to take as long as they did to fucking apologize, I'm going to personally say it: fuck you Vince and fuck you Kevin for not being men and not apologizing to this human being that you ruined ... for everything you did that night to go out there and create that circumstance ... there's no excuses for it, "oh we were scared of a lawsuit" ... I hope to god Mark Carano is fired for the stupid decisions that he made that night ... [cohost] credit for Tyson for keeping it all to himself ... [Ryback]: if people knew his circumstances and what went down that night and it's not my place to say it, it's no one's except his, it makes me so angry. Everything I went thru with my ankle, and I feel Vince doesn't know a lot of the things that went on with my ankle and I never got one goddamned apology for anything. His situation is a million times worse. It just makes me angry at the negligence and stupidity that exist at that level there. It's not to say mistakes won't happen and things won't go bad from time to time... but somebody needs to say it because he's not in a position to say it.

When Bret Hart spoke to Sports Illustrated he said:
>I don’t know whose fault it is or why an injury like that happened, but someone is accountable. The WWE has done a lot in the last few years to improve conditions for wrestlers. They have doctors there and they give wrestlers adequate time to prepare, but in looking at what happened with Tyson Kidd, clearly there is still a lot of room for improvement ...
>“It’s extremely dangerous,” said Hart. “The move that Samoa Joe did was reckless, and the way they rushed that match beforehand in the back without giving Tyson time to prepare was mistake. Tyson is, pound for pound, one of the best wrestlers in the world. And that includes his mind. If you went behind the scenes at WWE, Tyson is an intricate piece of so many other matches. It’s a shame that a guy who is that talented and given so much to the company is hurt

Last year Bruce Hart said:
> I was told when he [Tyson Kidd] was in the dressing room after, one agent, he indifferently said 'go take your shower'. [Kidd] said no my neck is really f***ed up and I was told he said 'we're not going to pay for an ambulance' and they were almost making it out like he was a hypochondriac. My niece Nattie, his wife, they said if you wanted to go to the hospital it's your choice ... hey had to at that point charter a some kind of air ambulance from San Antonio to Florida, which was the closest place that did that type of surgery. I heard that cost $100,000 and they had to fly him back for that. At this point I was told they haven't made any contact, WWE hasn't called, some of the wrestlers have called TJ, as I know him.
http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2015/0904/600316/tyson-kidd-responds-to-recent-comments-made-by-bruce-hart-in/
Kidd responded to this by saying
>Just for the record I haven't had contact with Bruce Hart in over a decade. End of story, rumor mill over!

>it seems like WWE handled the broken neck on their watch with a TNA level of professionalism

You're implying that normally WWE a bastion of virtue towards their independent contractors and this thing is a blip. Anyone who's been paying attention to wrestling will know that it's WWE who are the gold standard of carnyness in wrestling. TNA may have treated some people bad that's true, but trying to imply that they are anywhere close to WWE in terms of screwing workers over is nonsense in the extreme.
