"John Cena is Poison to Wrestling; Hunter: "what the f--k do I need to do?" by CIMA - Thu, 12 Jan 2017 07:17:22 EST ID:jIC071qy No.5593064 Ignore Report Quick Reply

Source: Conversation With The Big Guy

Recently on Conversation With The Big Guy, former WWE Superstar Ryback talked about John Cena and alleged negative impact on the professional wrestling industry.

According to Ryback, Cena was always "a piece of s--t" to 'The Big Guy' and people will "lose their s--t" when former WWE Superstar Alex Riley comes forward about his issues with Cena, as the 15-time world champion would "bury" Riley to everyone in the backstage area.

> "John's blocked on my Twitter. I blocked him, he's legit [blocked], I blocked him a long time [ago]. He [has] been a piece of s--t to me since Day One. And people, the guy, I was nothing but nice and respectful to him and I know Alex Riley just came out and [admitted he had issues with Cena] and when people hear what really happened with that, they're going to lose their s--t. Like, and I know, I have a pretty good idea of what happened with that and the guys in WWE. And, one, it's f--king hilarious. And, two, it's hilarious what people will find out about John. So he used to s--t talk me when I was in the ring. I remember I was in there against Mark Henry. You've got to remember, I came up with all these guys in developmental and I know everyone who's sitting backstage. No, John [used to talk trash], I used to be back there for John when Riley was in the ring, when the company was f--king with him because John was hot at him because of what happened and all this."

> Ryback added, "but John would sit back there and bury Riley in front of everybody for no reason and Alex Riley is f--king money and he was money from Day One. Busted his ass, had awesome theme music, worked his ass off, went out there and got a reaction from the people, but because of John Cena and I swear to God, I swear to f--king God, because of John Cena, his career is over in the WWE for no f--king reason outside of John and his personal issues. Unbelievable."

In Ryback's view, Cena has been "poison" to the professional wrestling industry insofar as he would hold others back. Ryback theorized that Triple H's promotion of NXT may be a way to prevent Cena from interfering in the careers of up-and-coming stars.

> "John comes from that [mentality of], 'well, we're going to push one guy down your f--king throats.' No, you push who the crowd is behind." Ryback added, "he has been poison to the [professional] wrestling industry. I told [podcast co-host Pat Buck] this before. We talked about this before. And again, this is my opinion, but I think I'm pretty accurate on this is I think he [has] done so much harm for so long to new talent to getting [over], breaking out, over there.

> "I had my experiences, and other talents up there have their experiences, that I think Hunter finally had to say, 'what the f--k do I need to do?' And I think he started with the NXT thing and bring up all these NXT guys and protecting the f--k out of them. There [are] so many guys now that John just can't f--king pick his battle with one guy because there are nine other guys that are hot on his [heels]. Do you know what I mean? And he [has] been surpassed now and so Hunter's brilliant if that's what he did to get rid of the f--king Cena problem."

Cena only bullies people down the totem pole like JTG, Punk had a relationship with Vince which would have put a wrench in his power plays.

Reading this is already quite painful, I can't imagine trying to follow it on a podcast format. Aside from his NXT theory which sounds kinda far fetched I don't really doubt it though, a lot of lower card guys have complained about Cena.

No, WWEs three most successful periods came from pushing one guy above all. And for his run, the most consistent merch seller was Cena.

Also funny how he bigs up NXT when that was what killed off Rileys career for good.

Ryback's place comes from emotion so he's obviously exaggerating WWE's faults, but there's not a lot he's wrong about here.

Not in the ring. Once he was done feuding with The Miz (after Miz came off main eventing Wrestlemania for fuck's sakes) and his music stopped, the people saw that he could not wrestle.

Alex Riley was given an amazingly hot feud with months of buildup with the two most over people in the company at the time and flopped so hard the Shocker would be proud.

Also Cena has historically been a bad omen for up-and-coming talent, I'm really looking forward to more former WWE guys coming out and shit-talking him. The Big Guy's pretty clearly emotional about this, though, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was over-exaggerating.

Anyone could've been given that music. Unless you're really making a decision about your gimmick (which is only for top guys, like how Punk switched to Cult of Personality) or if you have a hand in creating the music (like... you know... John Cena...), then you can't take credit for your music package.

They could've plugged any generic jabroni (Hawkins, Slater, even Ryback) into Alex Riley's spot and they would've gotten the same or more money.

I don't know why those fell. If I did, I would apply for a job at WWE and make a million dollars.

I do know that for the majority of his run, Cenas merch sold the most. So thats why they kept picking him.

And yet, neither man will actually come out with it and say what happened.

Yeah NXT has a nice little handful of potential top guys, but any one of them could be destroyed once getting to the main roster if the right people soured on them.

Owens beats Cena his first match and then loses the next two in definitive order. That didn't kill his career, of course, but if Cena had theoretically buried him outside the ring, it could have.

Realistically, what could be so bad?

Did Cena force Riley to feel him? Was Cena a bully? What if Cena murdered someone and Riley was the only witness?

This whole lil thing is gonna go over as well as a wet fart in an elevator, and will be laughed at for the rest of the year because the longer this "major story" isn't told, the speculation will only grow and if it is nothing, Riley and Ryback are just gonna look like bigget idiots than they already are.

One thing to keep in mind about Ryback.
He is super defensive and touchy.
Like that episode of Table for 3 where he overreacted to some ribbing from Daniel Bryan (who is notorious for being a legit nice guy) and Cody Rhodes. Harmless pranks where they were trying to make him feel like one of the gang. Ryback segregated himself because he didn't like that part of the culture of the locker room.
So if the rumor of Cena being a cunt to some of the guys in the back are true or not Ryback would still attest to Cena's actions being times worse than they possibly are.
His ramblings on his podcast or interview aren't anything to go on because he has such a bias towards so many people in WWE as it is.
I'd rather hear what Alex Riley has to say.

Now I'm confused? Who was it that was most pushed during the Attitude Era? Was it Mick Foley since they won the Monday Night Wars after he won the WWE Championship? Was it the Rock since he had great IC title fueds during that time and also went on to become a hollywood A lister? Was it Undertaker the guy most loyal to the company that would break his nose and still go out and work? Was it Kane the mysterious red monster that set a rumble record for eliminations and that everyone loved to watch destroy entire factions if not the roster? Was it Triple H the man who went on to marry Stephanie McMahon and become a 11 or so time champ and future head of the company?

Funny thing is I just listed off 5 huge name wrestlers that everyday joes would probably know of and I didn't list the big name one you're referring too.

Austin was still pushed ahead of all those people for at least 4 years. If anything, showing that a lot of people got over proves to me (at least) that the method of putting Austin first worked.

> Ya, because 80% of WWE's merch was Cena's.

Consider this, you are WWE and you have the Cena ball rolling. He is THE surefire hit in your company. Wouldnt you focus your merch budget on what sells?

Why the hell are neither of these men working indie dates

The General Manager of Chikara even admits he's looking for people for cheap. Real cheap and as much as Alex likes to think he's worth 4 times the level he thinks he is I fully expect him and Adam Rose provided he gets outta prison to be working Chikara for the rest of their miserable lives

Ryback can work literally any American indie because the novelty of him doing so is worth the laugh or even the potential of it being a fascinating match

I unironically wanna see Ryback no sell a chair shot to the cranium from Nick Gage

I still remember that in a couple of his interviews when he still wrestled, DBry would be asked to tell who he thought were the most underrated wrestlers in the roster and he would say Tyson Kidd and Alex Riley.

I think Riley could have been something in WWE but as the whole Kevin Owens fiasco proved, he seems just so clueless
