They tweeted the rules for this by the way. If Dunne is pinned, whoever pinned him is PROGRESS Champ. If Tyler or Trent is pinned, whoever pinned him is tag champ along with one of their two partners (their choice). So it seems only one of the two titles can change hands.

I think this is great since you could have WALTER or Thatcher pin Bate or Seven to move the tag belts off of them and give Ringkampf the win and send Dieter off in a big way without giving Dieter a title he'd need to immediately vacate. WALTER/Thatcher as PROGRESS Tag Champs sounds just dandy.

I listened to a podcast Ringkampf did (Morgan Webster's I think) and he said he's not really one for long trips. He has steady work wrestling and training with wXw, and he enjoys popping into the UK here and there for PROGRESS.

That doesn't rule out him working in the US, but I wouldn't count on a tour. Thatcher might put in a good word to Gabe or whoever and he could appear for EVOLVE or PWG; I'd say that if he keeps impressing in PROGRESS BOLA isn't out of the question since American fans are much more aware of that product than wXw.

I was referring to PROGRESS but I appreciate your joke. That said, PWG has debuted more American wrestlers (Dave Crist, Jake Crist, Shane Strickland, Dezmond Xavier, Lio Rush, Keith Lee) than they've booked Europeans in general (Scurll & ZSJ, Haskins is working this month's show; MAYBE you could count Jay White since New Zealand is connected to BritWres but he's mostly a NJPW guy).

Some stories on Janela's Spring Break, courtesy of GCW's Brett Lauderdale on Twitter:

>We sent Jimmy Lloyd in to Lowe's w $400 & told him to grab as many DOORS as we could fit into the van. 0 fit in the van. Thankfully the Lowes was right next 2 venue. Jimmy & friends literally wheeled 12 doors across a 1/2 mile parking lot.

>The commentary situation was a bit of a mess, in so many ways. But like everything at #JanelasSpringBreak - it worked out well. Had trouble coordinating with Excalibur because nobody knew what he looked like

>"I wonder if that was Dink's table that @TremontCZW suplexed @KingstonImpact7 on to? Same area. #JanelasSpringBreak" - Sounds like Dink was supposed to be eliminated from the Clusterfuck by being thrown through a table but just left when they realised the table had gone.

>Im not sure the true story of the CLUSTERFUCK could ever be fully told, but we can try. It started with 6 guys on a list, then Joey kept saying yes to extra people, and we all followed suit. Said "No" to like 20 & still ended up with like 16.

>"Ill take credit for the name "The Clusterfuck". Watching these dudes try to call it in the back was the REAL ClusterFuck". 14 dudes stood in a hot shower room at about 1230am trying to put it together. Jimmy Lloyd had a notepad trying to write down the cues.

>Booking DINK was a nightmare. Supposedly the hardest negotiation Lauderdale ever been part of. 3rd highest $ on the show. Lloyd taking a chair to the face from DINK was discussed, as was Lloyd giving Dink a shoot tombstone. Gillberg was supposed 2 be in the CLUSTERF'K but he got drunk w Barry Hardy that afternoon & couldnt make it.

>"Ok so here's the @OfficialEGO story - at this point me & @yeahgiancarlo were at the sound table anticipating that the Cluster was going home. Turns out Joey booked Ethan's soldiers right before the show & never told anyone. So when they appeared in the ring & started doing stuff me & @yeahgiancarlo & Danny were like WTF? By this point we were about 28 mins into the match & were worried about time. It looked 2 us like Page had "gone in to business for himself" and given the pressure of the moment & how high strung we all were, we got mad. So i was like "i got this" and ran to the back & waited for Page - he came thru and i was like WTF dude?! He returned the WTF back at me along with some other choice words. Eventually we put the pieces together & realized that the lack of communication did us all in. Lookin back i got more fired up than i should have, but we wanted everything 2 be PERFECT. I actually really want @OfficialEGO back in GCW"

>Original opponent for Keith Lee was Jack Evans, but they gave up due to him being "impossible to contact". The GCW folks had also got in touch with Rush about having the rapper that does his entrance music perform it live, but it didn't happen.

>The whole HEBNER thing was amazing. He legitimately wanted 2x the $ to ref a full match so we took the discount. It worked out well.

>The whole @TheRealVirgil experience was nuts too. He was supposed to stay in the back as a surprise but he insisted on setting up a table. We asked Virgil 2 change out of tje sweatshirt he wears EVERYWHERE so people wouldnt know who he was when he ran out. He went out to his out to his van (for 20 minutes) & came in wearing a bootleg nWo shirt. A real master of disguise. He told me "this aint my first rodeo"

>In the days leading up 2 the show, Severn talked about "passing the torch" repeatedly. He had a lot of respect for Matt. Played ball 100%. Was so proud of Severn for goin hard 2 the finish. 59 years old he couldve mailed it in & nobody would complain. He wanted 2 work.

>Another fact that i always wanted 2 reveal: Heidenreich vs Alabama Doink was legit ALMOST booked for #JanelasSpringBreak - BamaD wanted $500

Wouldn't usually post all this shit for any old show but feels like Janela's Spring Break was such a special show that this kind of commentary can be quite welcome, it's a great show to get a behind the scenes look at. Real glad they're doing one in NOLA next year.

At least there are still two British Strong Style six-man matches coming up (vs. Ringkampf, and vs. Riddle/Haskins/Moloney) which I'd wager will be better. I also feel like the one from Fight Club Pro on Sunday will have outdone it, though I'll never know for sure. Just going on how the Elite were at RevPro, I feel like that match would have been very much just both teams getting their schtick in, while the other BSS matches will be much more to write home about from a pure wrestling perspective.

They worked a heated brawl and built the match around flipping each other off, which lead to Zack grabbing Penta's hand while it was stuck out to flip him off, which kept costing him. Great finish.

Held back by how shitty Zack's sell of the apron piledriver was, but it was still really great.

Fucking thank you. Love Scurll, but holy fuck does he just shit the bed with Zack. It's not like they fuck all the actual moves up, their technical exchanges are usually very slick. It's that they're such good friends that they go out there and let each other do whatever and make each other look good by kicking out of shit and spending forever doing technical wank bullshit. 30-40 minutes of absolutely fucking nothing peppered with Zack kicking out of way too much shit. One thing that I can fault Scurll on is that he doesn't protect his piledrivers for shit. I thought it was just a thing he did with Zack, but he did it with Ricochet in Orlando, and it's the fact that he uses 2 sit-out piledrivers, including one where he stands there with them for a minute to let the blood rush to the head in the space of a minute as nothing but transitions. At least Ricochet can look good selling and kicking out of them, however. Zack barely looked dizzy. Garbage match in PWG, garbage match in RevPro, and guaranteed garbage in the future unless somebody books a great story around it and tells them to stay under 18 minutes. All in all, they're much better as a tag team than as opponents, and that mostly goes for all wrestlers that are good friends like that.

Also, it's not even a problem with long matches, either. ZSJ vs KUSHIDA went almost 30 minutes and was mostly matwork and it was still pretty great.

Sabre vs. Scurll was lovely at the first SSS16. That said, it was also the first match between those two that I'd seen and if you were to get the same match with a less interested crowd (as you basically did at that year's BOLA) it probably wouldn't be nearly as good. I enjoyed their EVOLVE match a lot too as it was more competitive (they were probably specifically told to cut the bullshit) but yeah, I'm not even gonna try defending the two PWG matches or the one at RevPro this year.

Sabre-Kushida was an absolute blast live though, and I'm someone who usually much prefers ZSJ matches when they take him out of the whole "technical focused match" comfort zone. It wasn't as good as Kushida-O'Reilly the last time Kushida was at RevPro, but I guess I can't be too surprised by that.

I think a problem with Marty not protecting his piledriver is that guys like Ricochet do such a good job with them. In the Rev Pro match Zack takes those piledrivers like he's fucking dead, just goes all out with the bump on that move, and when he's fine 10 seconds later doing submissions that makes the no sell even worse to me.
It's like when people take a brutal looking bump and spike themselves right on their head when they take a reverse rana, only to get straight back up and do a big move. It's just ridiculous, looking at you every match at last year's BOLA.

nb for double post but is there something in addition to Progress using a Germanic eagle as a logo that I wasn't aware of? 'cause that's the only thing people usually get on the nazi soapbox about. it's fucking regal

Or is this a classic case of "person learns Ringkampf is literally just German for wrestling"? Because that's become quite a running trend I suppose.

Fucking incredible lineup. 2017 PWG is beating the shit out of 2016 PWG and I've not even seen a 2017 PWG show yet. Rush-Haskins, Elgin-Strickland, Lee-Lee and ZSJ-Trent will all be great. The tag match will be lovely as long as the Bucks lose, but I'm not confident.

Also, tomorrow's Haskins-Elgin match is now KOR-Elgin. Guess Haskins couldn't get his flight but it's good they're bringing him in for the May show instead.

On a sort of related front IWA don't do ippvs do they? If not when is King of the Deathmatch 2017 likely to come out, it's 20th of May.

"The format for this year's King of the Deathmatches will be the same as last year, 16 competitors, four 4-way first round matches, two single semifinals and one on one finals.

ENTRANTS:
1) JOHN WAYNE MURDOCH
2) RICKEY SHANE PAGE
3) G-RAVER
4) LUDARK SHAITAN
5) NICK DEPP
6) MANCE WARNER
7) MASADA
8) DEVON MOORE
9) BRYANT WOODS
10) MARKUS CRANE
11) DALE PATRICKS
12) AIDAN BLACKHART
13) BRAD CASH"

So great to see Ludark in there, hopefully she will do well and get brought in for Tournament of Death aswell.

As ever though FUCK MASADA.

Johnny Mundo vs. Shane Strickland is signed for DEFY3: Swerve City. Also Lio Rush is signed for the show as well. Speaking of indie wrestling in Washington from this week's Observer:

>Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed a bill into law on 4/17 which allows wrestling schools to run live events with less burdensome regulations. Washington had been tough for independent shows because of laws requiring ambulances, six percent tax to the commission and $1 per ticket added tax plus all wrestlers had to be licensed, and you needed an ambulance on stand-by and paramedics at shows which right there could cost more than $1,000, so this will make it more financially viable to run gym shows in the state, but the bill doesn’t change the tax rate or the situation for a traditional independent show. The new law allows for what is designated as Theatrical Wrestling Schools to be able to put on a limited number of public performances every year as long as there are provisions for emergency aide in the case of injury at the events. The new bill puts pro wrestling schools under the same licensing framework as MMA and boxing gyms. The bill was called the Lucha bill since a Lucha Libre school called Lucha Libre Volcanica in Renton, WA was behind it. People who train at the school of wrestle on the school shows don’t have to be licensed.

The new theme's pretty good, has Sean Smith (from the Blackout) doing vocals and while the lyrics are kinda just shoehorning in as many Eddie Dennis type things as possible, it's quite strong as far as custom indie themes go. Not quite Party Hard but a decent replacement.

Also heard good things about his matches on the first two nights of Fight Club Pro's DTTI weekender. He was good in the triple threat with Angelico and Haskins.

For Elgin since the start of 2016, not counting NJPW:

>vs. Zack Sabre Jr.; RevPro Sittingbourne Spectacular 2016

DEFY Wrestling is having it's third show in Seattle on May 26th. The card is kinda stacked. Already confirmed are:

>Shane Strickland vs John Morrison
>Moose
>Joey Ryan
>Lio Rush
>Davey Richards
>Los Sexi Mexis (local lucha tag team who weigh in at "916 Tinder Matches")
>"Tacoma Gun" Mike Santiago (local guy, not bad in the ring at all)
>The Cunninghams (local tag team of "The Catch" Carl Cunningham, who appeared on Raw losing to Strowman, and Big Jack Cunningham (6'7, at least 300 lbs, and on the first show Jeff Cobb hit a goddamn delayed vertical suplex on him)

With likely more to be added. The atmosphere is great, the other two shows drew at least 400 people both times, the company is a hell of a lot of fun.

Because of ROH's accusations of WWE supposedly engaging in contract tampering, fomer and current ROH talent like Cole, O'Reilly, Dijak, etc. are in a holding pattern till it blows over.

>>5717006
I guess they didn't want to do it at a VOD show.

>>5717392
I'd also like to add:

>vs. Cedric Alexander; NOVA Pro One Crazy Summer

One of the best matches of the year in that promotion I had the pleasure of seeing live and only 2 days after his match against Kota Ibushi. Also I've heard good things of his match against Cody Rhodes at DEFY Wrestling's DEFY1 Legacy.

>>5717614
So Cody is going to focus on ROH (and NJPW by extension) going forward? Well he's still GFW NEX-GEN Champion so I assume he'd have to drop the title or merge it with the X Division title on Impact Wrestling or Slammiversary.

So the clickbait boys at WCPW are working with RevPro and New Japan for their Japan World Cup qualifier. They've announced Liger & KUSHIDA for it thus far. The interesting part is that they're announcing talent basically in tandem with RevPro's announcements for their J-Cup so far. Obviously it'll break off once the World Cup grabs a Heavyweight or RevPro announces a Brit, but it's actually interesting to see the two of them actually work together.

I guess with PROGRESS and ICW siding with WWE, other UK promotions not under that banner are trying to stick together? Or maybe WCPW just wants to jump aboard the gravy train of booking New Japan guys.

If you watch EVOLVE, it's what Chris Dickinson & Jaka call themselves when they tag elsewhere. If you don't watch anything they're part of, do so immediately. Not only are they both great singles wrestlers and tremendous tag wrestlers, but the companies they frequent are usually great too; they work mostly in EVOLVE and Beyond these days, and for my money those are the best 2 indies going in the States today, Beyond moreso.

Gresham is also fantastic; he's probably the best technician on the indies by a mile, and I'd probably put him in the top 5 worldwide in that regard.

no, you dont have to follow any of them from the beginning, just pick up from the most recent and go back to the older shows if you like what you see. beyond, evolve, and progress are all great, couldn't tell you about wcpw

progress and evolve's early shows are both pretty rough in terms of production, and evolve doesn't usually have a great audience. if you were to watch anything from show 1, I guess I would recommend progress because their storylines are pretty well done for the most part, but there's a lot of forgettable, mediocre matches on the the first 15 chapters or more. but you'll get the whole jimmy havoc saga which is probably what attracted most people to them in the first place

You can seriously just start from when he won the title; the only required watches are his title matches, Sekimoto vs Zeus, Okabayashi vs Zeus, Big Guns Tag Title matches (mostly against Strong BJ), and the New Explosion Sumo Hall show from November. In 2017 the only really notable match before the Champion Carnival has been Miyahara vs Bodyguard, although there's a few tag match main events that seem good.

>AIW
Honestly, this is one of those promotions you catch half a dozen matches a year from. Most of their local guys are mediocre and the dream matches only deliver half the time. That Severn/Rowe/Donst/Williams match, Irie vs Williams, Irie vs Kingston, and a couple others are the only really worthwhile matches of 2016.
>AAW
Watch Callihan's reigns with top title. It's his best work post-NXT and possibly his best work ever. Promos, matches, character, everything clicks with him in AAW, ESPECIALLY his feud with Pentagon. There's some good stuff on every card usually, but that's the main focus.
>RevPro
York Hall shows are their major deals, and they have maybe 6-8 a year. It's not hard to keep up with those. Then, their smaller shows have 1-2 good matches usually, so if anything on those is interesting, try them out. I'd recommend this as an intro to BritWres if you're a New Japan follower due to their connections; it's directly responsible for guys like Ospreay and Sabre getting shots in NJPW proper.
>wXw
I'm not as well-versed in it as I want to be, but it's got some great locals and knows how to handle its fly-ins. They ran 5 shows in one weekend last month: 3 days of 16 Carat Gold tournament, a small show called Inner Circle, and a shootstyle tournament called AMBITION. Those are what I've watched and all 5 are worth your time. Several good matches, multiple great ones, a few that are fantastic, and my personal MOTY the tournament final.

My experience getting into indies.
>luck into a 10/10 iPPV purchase
>grab all the then-recent content I can from the "name" indies
>after watching it all decide which were most enjoyable and worth following
>keep ear to ground on what's going on in those other top indies anyway, in case they hit a renaissance
>follow what my fave indie guys are doing weekend-to-weekend in case they have a dream match in a promotion I've never heard of
>by this point you're keeping up on new developments by instinct

For context: The "name" indies at the time were ROH, PWG, CZW, DGUSA & Chikara. Gabe was a real hardass on piracy, so I couldn't find DGUSA downloads and didn't get into them. Of the other 4, I really enjoyed ROH & Chikara so started buying from them. The following year PWG upped its game so I started buying from them too. I own a DVD from AAW, from AIW, from 2CW, from C4, etc.. because guys I liked from those first 4 companies wrestled marquee matches on those shows that I really really wanted to see. I got my first Beyond DVD that, and the tone of the entire show was so fun top-to-bottom that I starting buying from them. Then the Britbong Boom happened and Evolve starting really making waves and I'd flow with new content as it came. By this point I basically glance at any card, pick out the matches that sound enjoyable or interesting or novel and watch them.

>>5718572
Funny you should mention it. It was easy until I got BIG into 2 other hobbies these last few months and accrued a massive indie backlog. I still haven't seen ZSJ's EVOLVE title win, nevermind 80% of Wrestlemania Weekend. But hey I also don't much care for British Strong Style (They're GREAT, I just ain't invested) so that's like 99% of recent PROGRESS not on the list.
tldr pick n choose, you know? Maximize your time. Wrestling's meant to be fun, so have fun watching wrestling.

Does this mean Hiromu and BUSHI aren't in the tournament though? I suppose you gotta protect the IWGP Jr. Champ if they want a different winner, but you'd think BUSHI would be a good fall guy in the Semis or something and Hiromu could tag with EVIL or SANADA or something.

In PROGRESS, his title win against Ospreay, his title matches with Haskins and Hero, and vs End and Haskins at ch.36.

In RevPro, vs Ospreay, Hero, and Speedball from last year.

Watch his ROH TV Title reign for a bunch of rock solid midcard matches.

His PWG matches with Thatcher, O'Reilly, Pentagon, and Haskins were great.

That should start you off well. AVOID HIS SINGLES MATCHES VS ZSJ.

They had 2 in AAW. One that was really awesome and was a normal match, and another later in the year that was a Mexican Deathmatch which was much crazier. Highly recommend both.

I'm liking how there's a few hot matchups that every company wants their chapter of. Penta vs Callihan, Keith Lee vs Dijak, and so on. Variety is great, but sometimes seeing two guys do something awesome over and over in a different setting with a slight twist each time is satisfying.

EVOLVE & AAW both have Keith vs Dijak booked within like 10 days of each other, and both shows are in the Chicago area.

Yeah Travis is the face they should go in big with over the next year.

PROGRESS has started to feel a bit too heel heavy in the main event. Scurll was champion, then Pastor became champ as a face and lost it instantly. We got Haskins as champion and he had to drop the title due to injury almost instantly and BSS stepped up.

I'd be glad to see a strong face run on top, with Travis winning SSS and then the title. Maybe Cooper and Dahlia can come and help him against BSS if they get their visas sorted in the near future

IMO havoc should have won the title, but Banks is the other best option

Harry Smith over Kyle and Elgin over Bailey, I'd expect. Should be one or two matches that break the "eh" threshold which is a decent standard for WCPW lately.

>Dave Crist, after hearing people complain on Twitter that he’s lazy, said that he’s been battling sciatic nerve issues since February that have left his legs at times in the ring completely numb. He said it’s been a while since that was the case and he’s trying to get the issue fixed.

OTT has fallen into the 'book big name US talents in the main event vs each other while our own guys work the undercard' trap and it sucks hard. Why can't they have their own guys work the fly-ins so they can learn from the guys? Plus, booking one-off talents above your world champion cheapens the whole promotion.
I'm going, all the same.

The 6-man stop is that if Smile's team wins then Banks and the other guy get a tag title shot and if Kings of the North win then one of them challenges Smile. OTT booking at its finest.

I don't think the difference in ability matters so long as someone smart directs the match, as regards the fly-ins working the Irish guys. Eddie Kingston arrived Justy well enough and Abyss got something passable from the rugby lad last year. It's a shame Devlin isn't allowed to do anything anymore because of his WWE mark deal since it's left a huge hole in the roster.

True, ICW really suffered in 2016-7 because of everyone leaving, seems like they're only just getting back to some sort of hype level. Hopefully PROGRESS are a bit smarter and has been building up people from their minor leagues.

Plus, hurry up and push Zack Gibson already, guys ;__;

was just at my local fed. A lotta no name guys, they had a battle royal with X-Pac, Willie Mack, etc. Main event was Cody Rhodes vs. Joey Ryan in a steel cage, was alright.

But the match before that was this action packed ass 4 way match, with Jeff Cobb winning the title. Fun as hell. They should honestly release this match somewhere because it standout great.

Well the two dates people gave for Progress showing up on the Network have passed. I've stayed hesitant to assume it's happening in such a black and white form, honestly. If Progress shows make it to the Network, I highly doubt it's gonna be "oh here's a full chapter, run wild". Same with ICW. What exactly happens with the pair of them though, fuck knows. this might be an unpopular opinion but that's good to hear. Despite PWG's unwillingness to grow as a company it seem slike theyt turned their backs on a lot of the So Cal talent that helped build the promotion in favor of becoming a The Best of The Indies promotion. I still love what PWG does but its notoriously hard for indie guys to make a living on the west coast so more places to work the better

Well, of that list, only Cody, Candice, and maybe Nemeth since I don't know exactly where he lives are based in SoCal. Mack is exactly the guy people talk about when they say that PWG pushed Cali talent aside to become a raw supercard promotion, too.

That said, they should book B-Boy/Ricky Reyes/Lil Cholo (aka The Crew) since all three of those guys are great. Also JR Kratos, that guy is really good too and hasn't had a big break.

> KUSHIDA, who just jobbed to eternal ROH midcarder Silas Young
Just? The only incident I can find is a the 3-month old tag match from a show so meaningless I didn't even watch it.
>beating Jay Lethal clean a week before his PPV world title match
Lethal's unaffected either way. He already has a title shot. KUSHIDA badly WANTS a title shot. ROH emphasizes as much in their official recap. This was the more dynamic result.
>and the world champion losing clean to Kenny Omega
You conveniently forgot the "following interference from Cody". Even if it doesn't lead to a title shot (which it may well; either in Canada or Japan), Omega's last match as a regular ROH roster member was a loss to that same guy in that same country in that same building, so it's not without meaning.

ROH ARE big ol' stallions in several aspects of this NJPW partnership but the wins/losses tally gets far overstated.

Silas beat KUSHIDA on one of their VOD shows this past week.

Also, from the start of the ROH/NJPW partnership through early 2016 ROH was basically New Japan's bitch. Only lowcard veteran-types like Gedo and Liger did clean jobs, and the only guys who even lost dirty were midcarders (Lethal beat Naito dirty for the TV Title pre-LOS). Styles/Okada/Elgin from 2014 was hyped as the first 3-Way for the IWGP Title in over a decade, but it only really happened so the crowd could get some AJ vs Okada without either taking a pin.

Then in 2016 NJPW started actually giving back by letting ROH guys go over on ROH shows. Fish beat Ishii, Kyle beat Shibata, Lethal beat post-LOS Naito clean, etc.

It's pretty solid actually. The undercard is mediocre to average, the midcard normally has one or two good matches, the deathmatches tend to deliver, and there's normally at least one really good match per show. Gacy sucks as champ, but there's enough going on elsewhere to overlook that.
Some great shit has come out of CZW in the last year, the whole Janela/Rush feud was gold, Strickland and Dezmond Xavier tore it up a few times. Dave Crist is really starting to break out. Hell, the tag team division is pretty on fire currently (The four way TLC from the last show was really fucking good).

They're not exactly a blowaway promotion right now, but they're quietly putting on good shows month after month. Plus the ToD lineup is stacked this year.

Well, they still do some shows where wrestlers are the only people in attendance. Those are their "Studio tapings" and they are basically bonus content for their VOD; sometimes it's an open invitation for anybody willing to travel to the location to be guaranteed a match and the ability to make tape, which is really cool.

Beyond actually got its origins in backyarding; Drew Cordeiro had been in charge of putting together and booking backyard wrestling shows for a few years until one day he decided to go legit and make Beyond. I learned this from a podcast about the history and culture of 00's backyarding (another fact that surprised me is that Fred Yehi was a backyard guy). I'd say the last 5 years are when it's really built up its momentum, yeah, although they didn't really hit my radar until mid-2015 (not sure if that's a good metric).

Progress Chapter 48 results:

>Morgan Webster defeats James Drake with Destino to qualify for SSS16. Drake's first loss in Progress.
>Jinny defeats Martina with an X-factor out of the corner while Martina's head was in plastic bag
>Sweet Jesus defeat the London Riots with a double team crucifix. Tensions teased between the Riots.
>Trent Seven beats Travis Banks with a roll-up
>Nathan Cruz defeats Rockstar Spud to qualify for SSS16
>Matt Riddle beats Tyler Bate by DQ when Trent interfered with Tyler in the Bromission. Getting fantastic live reviews, this match.
>Pete Dunne defeats Mark Andrews and (a Crobot-less) Mark Haskins with a Drop Dead and Pedigree on Andrews. Dunne says noone can beat him for the title, not Travis Banks or anyone else (I assume in response to either Banks coming out or chants form the crowd). CCK come out and chase off British Strong Style. BEST BOYS.

For those in Northeast Wrestling territory, the Waterbury show is looking pretty good. I'm going mainly for Penta but JT Dunn and Keith Lee could be pretty sweet.

Also their FB is teasing Ricochet for the summer so I assume he'll be doing WUTS and a few of the related shows.

Alright, /wooo/. Help me make a decision.

Should I do a free trial of Beyond Wrestling or should I subscribe for a month of PROGRESS? I haven't seen a full show of either. I'm leaning towards Beyond just because it's free for the first 2 weeks.

But as far as what you find to be the better product, which would you suggest?
Note: I'm planning on checking out both eventually.

for less than 10$ i can guarantee you progress will give you the best produced indy shows you could imagine for the value. and theres like 30 quality chapters out there you can dive into. right now if youve never seen progress youre one of those lucky people who get to binge watch a fantastic product cuz you didnt check it out sooner.

Hard choice, as they're my two favorite indies at the moment. If you want to get one really soon, I'd go with Beyond, since you can watch all their shows from this year for free, but I'd wait a little bit so that you can watch the raw footage of their show from this weekend during your trial, if you want to save I mean.

PROGRESS has SSS16 coming up soon, but in a couple of weeks, and it takes them a week to put shows up usually. They do have more continuity though, so you might end up getting that first to catch up at least on current storylines before those shows. I swear there's a way to get a 99 cent first month on it too but I can't remember how.

Well if I start PROGRESS, I plan on watching all chapters from the first one to current (eventually, that'll take a while), but I want to see things as they happened. And yeah I already know the first ten or so shows were kind of iffy but I'm willing to push through them.

For Beyond, I'd start with their live shows starting from Americanrana 2013 onwards. I'm pretty much skipping the secret shows and stuff in front of other wrestlers unless I hear there's something really incredible in one of those.

Those studio shows are usually just fun combinations of exhibitions, tryouts, etc. Some stuff in the last year on those that I liked are American Destroyers vs Alpha Sigma Sigma and John Silver vs Brian Fury; Jaka vs Veda Scott is also worth a watch since it's Jaka getting the best match of Veda's life out of her, even if it's no more than "very nice" as a whole.

That sounds likea great way to get tired of either of them family.
When I dropped all my indie pulls and found myself with nothing to splurge on over Black Friday, I remembered how much I enjoyed Americanrana '13 and picked out some choice Beyond cards to order. By the end of that I'd dropped Beyond as well. It was GREAT, but watching just 5 shows in such quick succession was exhausting. They were so chaotic and footloose and variable in match-to-match quality.
Maybe it's just me and you have an entirely different philosophy of wrestling continuity. Just saying, jumping in media res and picking out callbacks that sound interesting as you go along would save a lot of time, energy & mileage. Worked for me with ROH/PWG/Chiakra.

At most 4 of the 9 are jobbers and that's only if you're cynical about Gresh and REEEEEEEEEALLY cynical about Dalton.
"Midcarders" would've been far more accurate. And hell yeah a gauntlet match filled with midcarders looks hype. Even as a kid I was always interested in new blood getting title shots over the same old circle jerk. And this is several months worth of that condensed into one match.

I'd argue that's a pretty significant reason at least a few of those guys left in the first place. Maybe O'Reilly leaving after he was the only guy they set up at the top for like a year will be a wake up call but so far they're just doubling down on Bullet Club and the old guys so I kinda doubt it
