> Regarding Undertaker and The Rock at WrestleMania, there is nothing new on either front. Given that John Cena is in the Elimination Chamber, if Cena vs. Undertaker is the plan, and it was the plan as of a few weeks ago, it would make no sense to shoot the angle until the Chamber is over and Cena hasn’t won.

> As far as Rousey goes, the key item not really talked about is the goals and a major reason why she is there from a company standpoint. All the different questions about her value to the company financially I’m told are secondary.

> As of last week, the plans were Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka for the Smackdown title and Bliss vs. Jax for the Raw title for WrestleMania. However, on TV this week, Angle said that if Jax beats Asuka on the PPV show, that the Mania match would become Bliss vs. Jax vs. Asuka. Last week the idea was that Asuka hadn’t said which title she would challenge for, nor would she until after the Chamber match. This week Angle outright said she was in the Raw title match. Whether that’s a change of plans or they were looking to throw the fans off scent, isn’t clear. They could do a disputed finish with Asuka vs. Jax, because Asuka beating Jax and then Bliss vs. Jax stemming from it, while it can be done, doesn’t seem the best way to do it. Jax beating Asuka to end her streak before Asuka faces either Flair or Rousey makes even less sense.

> Jason Jordan’s surgery was a posterior cervical microdiscectomy, to decompress the nerve issue that caused the problems. There was no report on a return date but we’re told that Jordan vs. Rollins at WrestleMania is not a dead issue, but it’s far from a certainty.

> All Japan Pro Wrestling announced its own streaming service, “All Japan Pro Wrestling TV,” debuting in March. The price will be 900 yen per month ($8.17). No other details were given but when it comes to All Japan, one can argue that when it comes to actual great matches, it has the potential to have the best library of any company in the world, since almost all of its great matches from 1972 on were taped, and at many times in the 70s, 80s and 90s, they had the best wrestling in the world. The service will go into effect just before the annual Champion Carnival tournament, which take place between 4/7 and 4/30. This looks to be one of the most loaded tournament since the glory days of the promotion with a number of key outsiders including Naomichi Marufuji, Shingo Takagi and Yuji Hino.

> The CMLL tag team titles, which had been held by Negro Casas & Shocker, have been vacated since they hadn’t been defended since October 2016. Nothing was announced regarding how the vacancy would be filled, but most of the time they do the three-week long tournaments

> NJPW is looking for a mobile game developer and publisher to collaborate on a New Japan game

> There is a really interesting story regarding WrestleMania being in New Orleans. Louisiana is one of the commissions that still regulates pro wrestling. Because of that, Tom Lawlor, who had been booked for one show found out he wouldn’t be able to wrestle because of his two-year commission imposed suspension for a positive test for Ostarine that doesn’t expire until October. Lawlor won’t be coming since he has since gotten bookings for a military base tour at that time in Iraq and Afghanistan. The wrestlers working the shows that week all have to go through local licensing

> The next obvious question involves Brock Lesnar. But Lesnar, like Lawlor, has two different suspensions, the commission suspension and the USADA suspension. In most cases, they are the same thing for the same length. With Lesnar, he had a one-year suspension from the Nevada commission that would have expired in July. But his USADA suspension is still ongoing because it freezes upon retirement from the UFC, and he had announced his retirement mid-suspension. It will unfreeze when he make it official he is coming out of retirement, and would then have to undergo five or six months of clean drug testing before he could be licensed. In other words, if WWE would have run New Orleans last year, Lesnar would not be allowed on the show. Now, I’m sure there would be work done in that case where WWE would work to try and get the commission to stop regulating wrestling and with all the money involved in a WrestleMania, perhaps that would happen. Even though there is no issue, with Ronda Rousey, she has never retired from MMA and is still in the drug testing pool and can be tested at any time unannounced. But with no fights signed, she was never tested once in 2017

> ROH announced details of its Honor Club, its streaming service, which will take the place of the former Ringside membership. The key to this is that they will stream not only the big shows, but it appears all live events and all the events will also be available after the fact on video-on-demand. They will also stream the television show and the archives will include the live events and all the TV shows. There will also be pre-sales to Honor Club members for live show tickets and 15 percent off merchandise. All Ringside Members will have their existing time of their subscriptions moved to Honor Club members. There will be two tiers to the pricing. The regular price is $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. But the premium price will be $119.99 per year which includes all the PPV shows. The $9.99 price allows one to order the PPVs at half price

> There will be a new Impact announcing team on the 2/8 show. At one point over the past week or so the plan was Sonjay Dutt and Don Callis, but we’re told that looks to have been changed. Callis originally said he wasn’t going to be a TV character. The first show of the new era was weird to watch because it had all the lame duck characters like Jeremy Borash (who had done the voiceovers before he left and the show was already done), Ethan Carter III, Chris Adonis, Bobby Lashley and Laurel Van Ness. The show was already completed when Borash gave the word he was leaving but my impression is they were going to do new voiceovers with whatever team they have starting with this week. Several names were considered and talked with. Dutt is the guy who is writing the television shows right now

> The never-ending Impact pay issues are that now the checks come six weeks after the appearance and some guys now, since Impact is booking guys for indie dates, are mad at losing their own indie dates where they’ll get paid that night and working indie dates for Impact where they’ll be paid six weeks later instead

> Even though Vince McMahon said at the XFL press conference that there would be no changes as far as his role in WWE with the forming of the league, the feeling is that Paul Levesque will gain a lot more control just based on the fact he’ll have to because there are only 24 hours a day. He is assembling his team in NXT which is where the Jeremy Borash thing from last week is a lot bigger than just a hire of a guy, and there are other people who have been talked to of late with the idea of being his team and coming up to fill the key positions when he’s in charge, whether that’s next year or the year after. Running NXT to satisfy insider fans is very different than WWE, but there are also good points to it when you look at the presentation of NXT and the booking and long-term plans that don’t change as frequently, and the more organic feel that are a good thing. But it is also very different to produce one hour of television weekly with the main goal just being storylines to build to the next TV and the ultimate big show and creating five hours of new television each week and two more hours of other shows (Main Event and 205 Live

> The WWE will announce its year-end financial numbers on 2/8. The key comparison numbers to look for is the 12/31 subscriber number of the network. As far as over/under goes, a number for paid subscribers worldwide of 1,466,000 would be expected. Above that is good, below that isn’t as good. A domestic number of 1,068,000 would be about what should be expected. In 2016, the fourth quarter average paid attendance at the live domestic shows was 5,300, so that would be what 2017's fourth quarter should be compared with. That was a down number as it was 6,300 in the fourth quarter of 2016. Wall Street is expecting the company to have about a $15.2 million profit for the quarter

> There have been people now openly talking about next year’s WrestleMania at MetLife Stadium (before it was something talked about, but not in public to fans), so one would think the official announcement should come soon

> The relaunch of the XFL led to the Daily Beast and the Deadspin website revisiting the 2006 story on claims by a 22-year-old employee at a tanning salon in Boca Raton, FL, that she was groped by Vince McMahon, the reason being McMahon’s strong stance against anyone with a criminal background being allowed in the league. But McMahon was never charged in this case. The story was covered when it happened and the District Attorney eventually decided against pressing charges. The alleged victim claimed McMahon showed photos of himself naked on his cellphone and then made unwelcomed advances, cornered her and groped her.

> She claimed the woman was asked by McMahon to take his photo and send it to another person and she did so and when she gave him back his phone, he showed her nude and semi-nude photos of himself on his camera phone. She asked hi to stop. She claimed after the session was over, he followed her back into the tanning suite, closed the door and started forcibly kissing her. She said he stopped when she pushed him away as he tried to pull her shirt off. Another employee defended McMahon in media reports at the time, basically rebuffing her story. She had claimed her manager told her not to press charges.

> McMahon was a regular at the tanning salon. When she did, she claimed she was fired, and by the time the police report came out, she was listed as a former employee of the Tanzabar tanning salon. One thing is that the police report did have a line in it that stated “There is probable cause to believe that Vincent McMahon did actually and intentionally touch against the will of (woman’s name), contrary to Florida Statute 784.03. It should be noted that this came after the woman failed to identify McMahon in a police lineup. The only other thing new from what was reported at the time, was that after the woman was in the room with McMahon, she ran to a Papa John’s restaurant in the strip mall and told William Wells, an employee, of what she said happened.

> Wells, who was 17 at the time, said the woman ran in and was crying. It should be noted that the woman didn’t know who Vince McMahon was so from that standpoint it wasn’t someone trying to fake a claim against someone who she knew was either rich or a celebrity. However, Wells recognized McMahon walking out. She asked Wells to please come with her to the tanning salon and to bring a baseball bat until the police arrived. Wells claimed McMahon was in his car staring them down for 45 minutes, turning his car around to face the store, and didn’t leave until just before the police arrived. Wells said McMahon not leaving scared the woman.

> This all led to a WWE storyline just a few weeks later where Mickie James played a psycho woman who came on to a man who was playing the role of someone Trish Stratus (who James was feuding with) dated. But the man pushed her away and then James claimed she was sexually assaulted and tore up her own clothes to prove it, with the idea that psycho women claimed they were being sexually assaulted by guys who were actually innocent. This was the time when it seemed whenever something weird happened to Vince McMahon in real life, it would lead to a Raw storyline played out with the idea that in real life, the person in the McMahon role was the victim

> The company is allowing Drew McIntyre to appear on 2/12 for ICW in Glasgow for an induction ceremony into the ICW Hall of Fame

> For those who still think Jericho will be at WrestleMania, on 4/8, he is doing a concert in Hampton, VA at Wally’s and will be hosting a WrestleMania viewing party after the concert in the same location

> Dwayne Johnson claimed, and this would be the first time he has ever said this publicly, that when he was 15, he had to save his mother, Ata, from a suicide attempt. He also said that she has no recollection that any of this happened. “My mom tried to check out when I was 15,” he wrote. “She got outta the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked int oncoming traffic. Big rigs and cars swerving outta the way not to hit her. I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road. What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn’t.

> Johnson also announced a new reality show for NBC called “The Titan Games,” a unique name since the parent company of WWF from 1982 to 1998 was called Titan Sports before renamed World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, and later just World Wrestling Entertainment. It will be an athletic competition which sounds similar with shows like American Gladiators and Broken Skull Challenge. Johnson will be the host and Executive Producer along with his Seven Bucks Entertainment Company, and listed as other Executive Producers are Dany Garcia (his ex-wife and co-owner of the company as well as business manager), Hiram Garcia (her brother) and former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz, who Johnson worked closely with when both were with the company. The show will start filming in September, and there is no scheduled debut date but likely in 2019

> The 25th anniversary of Raw did 122,000 viewers in the U.K., plus 30,000 for a replay showing. Smackdown did 29,000 viewers live and a Wednesday at 10 p.m. replay did 47,000. For a comparison, the three prior Raw shows that aired live did 31,000, 67,000 and 47,000 viewers

> Jim Ross is in talks with two companies about being the new home of his Ross Report podcast and a final deal is expected with one or the other shortly

> The original main event for the Takeover in New Orleans looked to be Almas vs. Lars Sullivan. Sullivan (Dylan Miley, 29) had been booked like a monster up to that point including almost a squash win over Roderick Strong. They had taped an angle to lead to a Sullivan vs. Killian Dain match where the winner would become the No. 1 contender for the title. But on the TV show that airs on 2/28, they did an angle where Black challenged Dain and Black beat Dain for the title shot. Sullivan then disappeared. He’s had some problems with the knee that he had reconstructive surgery on and there are also issues with his pituitary. He had surgery a few years ago, after coming to WWE when they found out his look and freak size was due to acromegaly, the same thing guys like Andre, Antonio Silva, Giant Silva, Great Khali, The French Angel and Choi Hong-man all had which led to their larger than life features like giant hands and giant feet and there were some issues relating to the surgery. He’s expected back training very shortly

> As expected, the spring set of 205 Live house shows were canceled. Technically, they were never announced but there was a tour of California on the books that has been canceled. The word is that the concept of 205 Live house shows isn’t dead, and the Lowell and Poughkeepsie shows got good reviews and drew decently enough. But the big draw on the tour was Enzo and they had to add Matt Hardy, Bray Wyatt and had a Nia Jax angle thrown in as well as had to cancel one of the three shows due to poor ticket sales. But right now nothing is on the books. Whether this is the same we don’t know, but that was the wording used when they canceled the ECW house shows at the end of 2006, with the idea that they’d start them up again and then never did

> WWE sent out a marketing survey this past week. Not sure who it went to and didn’t because I only saw one copy of it and I’m a network subscriber and never got it. It asked about WrestleMania and basically asked people if they were going to New Orleans or not, and if not, what was the reason (cost, don’t like the card, several options actually). There were other questions about attending, if you had attended the WrestleManias the past few years, but the one I found most interesting is they asked fans if they would like to see Nakamura beat Styles and if they would like to see Asuka win one of the women’s titles

> Currently there are 8,000 tickets sold for Elimination Chamber on 2/25 in Las Vegas at the T Mobile Arena, so it won’t be close to a legit sellout. The Raw on 2/12 in San Jose only has a 7,000 ticket advance, which for this market is very soft. For 2/19 and 2/20, they are doing both Raw and Smackdown in Phoenix. There are combined tickets and such to help Smackdown in particular and the expectations right now are about 8,500 for Raw and 6,500 for Smackdown. The house shows coming up this weekend in California don’t have strong advances. The one thing that is different this year from the past is that January through end of March is the season, where everything is up. But this year the house shows have been well below expectations and the Raws seem that way as well

> LIDS Sports Group and WWE announced a partnership this week giving LIDS the licensing rights to produce WWE headwear, using names, logos and autographs of WWE stars. Customers will be able to customize headwear of different WWE stars in minutes both on-line and in the company’s nearly 1,000 stores nationwide

> The biggest sports name at the current WWE tryouts is Todd Clever, 33, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound American rugby union star. One thing about the current camp is you can see they are back in the mode of looking for big guys. Clever was the U.S. team captain of Rugby Union and has represented the country more times than anyone in history in international competition. He competed from 2000 to 2002 on the teenage U.S. national team and from 2003 to 2017 on the national team. One thing interesting, because this goes so much against WWE mentality, is that Clever had run-ins with his coach including one heavily publicized which saw the coach remove him as team captain and not even play him a few years back. He retired from rugby this past summer. He’s from San Jose, and has played Rugby Union professionally in New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and England

> Other names at the tryouts this week include Evan Cloyd, who wrestles for Evolve as Jarek 1:20; Jaxon Stone, a Philadelphia based wrestler who has worked for wXw in Germany; Evan Markopolous, a New England wrestler who at 18 appeared with TNA and looked great and got over, but was deemed too small and they never did anything with him, but he’s now 23 and has a good physique; Maverick; Juan Adams a 6-foot-5 MMA heavyweight from Houston who cuts to 265 and has a 2-0 record after his pro debut in November and just fought his second fight last week; and Matt Van Buren, 31, an MMA fighter with a 7-5 pro record. Van Buren, who is 6-foot-5 and fought as a light heavyweight in UFC, went to the finals of the spring 2014 season of Ultimate Fighter, before losing to Corey Anderson. He fought once more in UFC, losing a fight of the night to Sean O’Connell before he was released. He last fought in the summer of 2016 where he was knocked out in 14 seconds by Jeremy Kimball

> The stock closed at press time at $34.56 per share, giving the company a market value of $2.665 billion. Considering the stock market itself collapsed during the week, that’s actually a good sign. But the stock should do well because all indications are that the TV rights fees should be up based on UFC negotiations, and that’s the company’s best shot at increasing profitability

> For the most-watched shows on WWE Network for the past week, they were: 1. Royal Rumble; 2. Mixed Match Challenge (Bliss & Strowman vs. Lynch & Zayn); 3. NXT Takeover Philadelphia; 4. NXT TV show for 1/31; 5. WWE 24 WrestleMania Orlando; 6. Photo Shoot: Eric Bischoff; 7. Alexa Bliss’ first televised match in NXT; 8. Alexa Bliss talks her time in NXT; 9. Alexa Bliss’ most memorable clashes; 10. Bloopers, Bleeps & Bodyslams (an 80s home video release). 205 Live on 1/30 was in 11th place

Sounds great but do they have access to their pre 2002 footage? I thought it was still owned by NTV.

Really? REALLY?!

I'm surprised the Rousey bit here is omitting the rest of it which goes into the big reason why Rousey's there. You'll be very shocked to learn that main goal coming out of it is to use it to try and push Stephanie as a mainstream star. Here's the rest of that bit.

>The key to Rousey is more about Stephanie McMahon, which is why they want that super high-profile match (and if they can get Johnson, it makes it even more high-profile). Stephanie McMahon is a big star in wrestling, but she is not a mainstream star at all. It was explained to me that the key in all this goes back to what made Vince McMahon a big star, which was the program with Steve Austin, and what made Steve Austin a breakthrough star past being a pro wrestling top guy, which was hardly an interview at King of the Ring or the WrestleMania match with Bret Hart, as legend has it, but the angle in Fresno with Mike Tyson.

>Rousey is a major sports star. The idea that she was the single most searched female athlete in the U.S. on the Internet in 2017, a year she never competed and for the most part laid low in, speaks volumes. The idea for the program is to make Stephanie a star outside of just the pro wrestling world.

>So here’s the situation, based on what he said, if WWE believed he was serious, it probably couldn’t employ him. That said, based on comments from those in the company, there probably is some underlying truth in the sense Booker felt that Graves was making him look bad on Raw, but they may also be reading too much into what is clearly an angle, although one probably leading nowhere, particularly since New Day was joking about it on Smackdown television this week.

>The reality is that the change in announcers wasn’t so much Booker being demoted, although Booker had gotten tough to listen so, but a hiring of Jonathan Coachman. Coachman had stayed loyal to the company, to the point of making himself look bad at times with ESPN, so when ESPN removed the WWE segments and then let him go as part of massive layoffs, he now had ESPN credentials and was loyal to WWE. Some find Booker entertaining and it’s too early to judge Coachman, and it’s difficult to thrive in the three-announcer system where everyone has a certain somewhat contrived role except the lead guy.

>Booker put the finger on his demotion at Graves. In reality, the company had hired Coachman and kept it a secret from everyone because they waited until almost the last minute to tell Booker T.

I'm more annoyed whenever they try to book the Royal Rumble winner's championship match at Mania into a triple threat or fatal 4 way match. What the fuck? What a great way to totally make your prestigious Royal Rumble event almost meaningless. Just stick other people who didn't even win the Rumble into the championship match. I know WWE has done this before, but the Royal Rumble winner should always get a one-on-one match with the champion at Mania. If Nia wanted in the match, bitch should have won the Rumble. This goes the same for Daniel Bryan's win at Mania, who wasn't even in the freakin' Rumble. Stupid booking.

>This week Angle outright said she was in the Raw title match. Whether that’s a change of plans or they were looking to throw the fans off scent, isn’t clear.
It's completely clear. Why would Angle ADVERTISE the possibility that one of his top attractions might jump to the competition? She's a RAW star, he's RAW general manager, he said what he has every reason to believe. And even if he didn't believe it; to promote.

Can't wait until she keeps interrupting Rousey during her (likely awful) promos by randomly making quips where she only lifts the mic halfway through delivering them, and then does some speech about this being HER COMPANY, HER LEGACY and whatever, then she slaps her.

Ahahaha, that's some straight up supervillain planning.

How can we make Stephanie a star? Well, women's wrestling isn't taken seriously, so first we have to overhaul the entire diva's division to make it look legitimate, then use that to lure in mainstream female athletes, then use that to make Stephanie McMahon "cool".

Simple plan!

I like to think that it's all part of an 'angle' where despite all her talk about making history with wrestling and a womens revolution, she'll end up selling the whole roster down the river just to hitch her wagon to a bigger star.

Considering all the upset tweets from talent about how Rousey's introduction was handled at the Rumble, it would almost make sense.

>wwe finally starts treating women's wrestling more seriously

well surely it's because they want to make the product as a whole more appealing and not just cater to one specific person. huh, what's this:

>Rousey is a major sports star. The idea that she was the single most searched female athlete in the U.S. on the Internet in 2017, a year she never competed and for the most part laid low in, speaks volumes. The idea for the program is to make Stephanie a star outside of just the pro wrestling world.

>World Wrestling Entertainment fans may soon be seeing the "Broken Universe" after all, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

>Several sources within Impact Wrestling today confirmed that the company has licensed content from Matt and Jeff Hardy's time with the company, specifically material surrounding the "Broken Universe" to World Wrestling Entertainment.

>The purpose of WWE licensing the content (and how much content they are licensing) is not yet clear but WWE has been working on both a WWE 24 episode devoted to the Hardys for the WWE Network as well as a brand new Hardys-centric DVD release.

>WWE licensing content from other companies is not unheard of. They have licensed content on several different occasions from Ring of Honor for material related to CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, among others.

>As well documented on PWInsider.com, Impact's Ed Nordholm signed over the rights to all the "Broken Universe" trademarks to Matt Hardy last month, giving him completely ownership and control over their usage going forward. The one thing that Impact does indeed own still is the rights to the footage - but WWE will be able to utilize some of that content down the line as well.

She literally is unable to cope in any situation where she is not scripted to be the smartest person in the room who "wins" the argument. There's tons of stories from ex writers for example of people challenging her and her being unable to deal with it and no good at arguing on her feet and she gets super mad and loud. One of those kinds of people who thinks yelling the loudest when you can't use your words means you 'win'.

Maybe, maybe not. Japanese TV rights are a hell of a thing. NJPW World has a good deal of content missing because they cannot afford the rights to host them on their site or just don't want to. Similar deal to AJPW I'd bet. They'll either grab a bunch of it or barely any of it.

I dont think WWE even said anything about it, but Edge and Christian said on their podcast today that Tamina worked the Rumble with a torn rotator cuff and got the surgery done for it on the following Tuesday, so it looks like she'll be out for over a half a year again.

(Im just surprised that it wasnt her blowing her knee out again)

Thanks for this one. Don't have a sub right now and this is a show I would like to have saved to revisit every now and then. Really good stuff, would heartily recommend for others to listen, even if you're not into the paranormal stuff, Bigfoot, spoopy stories and whatnot that After Dark usually is about. This is 100% about a historical event, and a fascinating (and fucked up) one at that. Cults: not even once.

The only reasoning I could think of it to make it a triple threat would be if someone has decided Asuka is not ready/not over enough to be champion, but Nia Jax is. Jax would presumably pin Bliss, keeping Asuka's streak alive.

But yeah, interjecting someone else into that title shot kinda shits on the Women's Rumble match.

Anyone else think Tamina is one of the most wasted talents in recent history? When it comes to girls anyway. Don't wanna go on long about it but I always thought she was one of the best american girls I've ever seen in the ring and she's more charismatic than most other girls too. Of course american women's wrestling standards are kinda low but still. Even old fat Tamina could have been used much better than how they've been using her. I just remember her having a great match with Beth Phoenix in 2011 or 12. Even if she wasn't good she should technically be booked better since she's part of the Pacific Kliq or whatever you wanna call everyone related to the Rock.

And thanks to guy that uploaded those AfterDarks, Bryan should really start doing them again at least once every couple months or SOMETHING. Not just that but I hope he reviews anything other than wrestling sometimes like that fucking Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode that popped up out of nowhere recently. Someone give him some bad comic books or cartoons to review.

Not sure where to put this and I don't think it deserves it's own thread.

What's the deal with NXT Performance Center guys like Xia Li and Brennan Williams? They've been done there forever and have barely gotten any TV time (Li in the MYC notwithstanding). Are they doomed to be released once WWE gets a new crop of signees? I would think if they are any decent they would have been on NXT TV as jobbers or maybe just midcarders.

Both are young and green, and they have a log jam of wrestlers ahead of them. It's okay to let these two develop strong basics so when the TV crop gets a little bit thinner, they aren't thrust into the spotlight to early.

>In a moment no one could’ve predicted, southern wrestling promoter and manager Colonel Robert Parker returned to the sport last night at MLW: Road to the World Championship.

>Along with his newly signed tag team the Dirty Blondes, the trio crashed a match featuring Team TBD (Jimmy Yuta & Jason Cade) and Simon Gotch and Seth Petruzelli sending shockwaves throughout the tag team division.

>Parker, whose family goes back to 1920 in the sport, confirmed he and his Stud Stable featuring the Dirty Blondes want in on competing for the rumored World Tag Team Championship.

>League officials have confirmed to MLW.com that they are actively exploring establishing the belts in the near future.

>Colonel Parker, who league officials have confirmed has acquired a license to manage in MLW, joins a trend of managers and promoters representing athletes in the MLW. Stokely Hathaway of Black Friday Management and Salina de la Renta of Promociones Dorado also represent various wrestlers.

>Having managed the likes of Steve Austin, Big Van Vader and the Harlem Heat as well as promoting wrestling throughout the south, Colonel Robert Parker has a stellar track record for success in the sport. The question is: who else is he planning on signing to his Stud Stable? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Okay, that's pretty fucking cool. Does anyone know how long it's been since Colonel Robert Parker has done anything in wrestling? It has to be, at least, a decade, I think.

Major League Wrestling (which I suppose is a pretty ironic name considering it's an indy fed).

They've recently been holding monthly iPPVs from the GILT Nightclub in Orlando, FL, which are commentated by Tony Schiavone (as a direct result of his podcast reinvigorating his passion for wrestling) and Rich Bocchini (formerly known as Rich Brennan on NXT and Smackdown).

MLW posted one of their iPPVs, "Never Say Never", in its entirely on YouTube a couple months ago, so watching an event for yourself will do far more than me talking about it.

Jonestown was nuts. There are a handful of survivors - mostly people who weren't at Jonestown that day - who insist that they had a good time there and enjoyed the communal aspect of it, in spite of what ultimately occurred.

Something a lot of people don't know about Jonestown was that Jones and his congregation were Christian communists. They wanted to live in an apostolic community free from the capitalist world, but the family of cult members got the US government involved. Once the zealousness of the community lead to the deaths of a US congressman and several others who came to investigate conditions at the site, Jones gave up, and put into practice a mass suicide plan he had in the works for over a year.

I always recommend comrades look into the Peoples Temple to show what can go wrong with over zealousness and authoritarian leadership in our movement. It really is one of the best cautionary tales we could have, and unfortunately, the political aspect of the Peoples Temple is almost always brushed over in retellings of the incident in favor of a dramatized "Jim Jones was just really, really, evil" narrative that diminishes the agency of his congregation. The children who died were murdered, but the vast majority of the adults willingly killed themselves.

He was trying to get North Korea and other communist countries to take them in as well. Also when they were still based out of San Francisco they were really tight with a lot of the prominent Democrat politicians of the time. Not nobodies either but names like Harvey Milk and Dianne Feinstein.

There's really nothing that can be done. He doesn't care, the fans don't care and management will never see him as a star.
It's not unheard of that people have a heavy career resurgence after fans stop caring (i.e. Matt Hardy in TNA), but it's not happening in this case.
Sad to see, but hey, at least Ziggler is making good money.

If WWE wasting Ziggler hurts, I suggest you just stop watching. Bray, Rusev, Cesaro, Sasha and Becky will all be in the same spot as Ziggler in a few years.

In the modern WWE, If the company doesn't see someone as a star and fans do, then its the fans that end up giving in. Even Daniel Bryan went cold after his loss to Roman.

Except that's where you're wrong because nearly every WWE title has a good to great holder right now and the Cruiserweight championship is FINALLY having some intrigue restored to it with the tourney and Haitch taking the reins of 205 Live.

>I don't think he's going to be making as much money as a touring "comic" or as a fox news business analyst, or whatever the fuck it is
He'd be able to make comparable money wrestling elsewhere, he could become a more well-rounded talent for it and learn to explore and develop different aspects of his character and his skill and pick up a ton of indie buzz, because at the heart of it, he's a good, fun wrestler. He'd be a huge draw, could main event anywhere and even if they couldn't match what he makes in the WWE, he would be paid more than comfortably and could re-sign a year or two down the road for more money and a higher spot in the company.

But instead he clings on to his increasingly disingenuous "oh boy, I love wrestling SO MUCH and THIS TIME I'm gonna make it FOR REAL, you guys, just you wait" while slowly dying and picking up paychecks and increasingly shrinking merch residuals for... no good reason other than his passion is clearly dead.

I think most people WANT the best for Ziggler, because we all felt his passion and love for wrestling, but like how at the end, you can tell an abused spouse that they deserve better all you want, but it won't matter until they themselves are ready to take that final step for themselves, it eventually gets exhausting to "want the best" for someone who doesn't want to be helped.

>right now
and? how many years has it been since they started giving the world title to every lukewarm midcarder? not to mention how many guys win the title through nonsense stipulations, interference, MITB, etc instead of pinning the previous champion clean in the middle. every other title has always been a complete joke, now even the WWE title is meaningless. AJ is champ, great, let's see if he holds the title for a year and has great main events on every PPV with no bullshit finishes. then maybe the title will start to have a tenth of the prestige of the IWGP.

how anyone can care about WWE championships in 2018 is beyond me, honestly

That's a poor story in kayfabe. If they were telling that story, we'd have seen Bryan at RAW trying to entice Asuka or at least some kind of soliloquy from about how's he's nervous asuka might leave.

Of course, it also doesn't necessarily follow that if she successfully challenges for the SD title that she'll automatically become SD exclusive.

Now the last couple of year have made sure no one gives a shit about Ziggler so he probably couldn't pull a Cody even if he tried. Speaking of Cody, I don't hate the guy as much as some people on here do, but how has he been so successful despite being so mediocre?

Its in Meltzer's interest to big up other wrestling other than WWE. NJPW has seen a massive upswing in popularity, thanks in part to him. That means more subscribers to the WON, more eyes on his scoops and more eyes on his ratings. This in turn puts more eyes on guys like Omega and the Elite, making them more money and making wrestling bigger.

https://deadspin.com/jerry-lawler-wrote-a-really-dumb-letter-to-prosecutors-1822790447
>I sent a public record request to the Louisville Metro Police Department in Kentucky, which conducted the investigation, and got back 228 pages of documents—it looks like the entire case file or close to it—several weeks later. Lawler’s public stance at the time was largely that the whole thing had blown up after two girls bragged about having sex with him; he singled out prosecutor Lisa Schweikert wanting to “get her face on TV” as the reason why the case kept going even after Lawler’s lawyer claimed that the both girls had recanted. In private, his rhetoric was similar, if also notably more colorful.

>Lawler addressed an undated letter pleading his case to “Lisa and Nick,” who are presumably Schweikert and fellow prosecutor Nick King. Several pages of past articles and correspondence about Lawler’s charity work appear to have been attached to the letter (they precede it in the file), which is handwritten with Lawler’s distinctive, all-caps comic book dialogue brand of penmanship. The letter begins by outlining his commitment to the community and various honorary government appointments before taking a bit of a turn.

>“I feel if you did a background search on me, you would find that I have always tried to treat people with respect, from the smallest of the wrestling fans to the mayors and senators and I think they in turn would tell you that my word is good,” he began. “I also know that if you did a background search on the two girls in question you will find that one of them is having a sexual relationship with the other ones [sic] brother. That their mothers are both aware of this relationship. That she smokes, drinks, has been suspended from school several times. That she brags publicly about having numerous sex partners, has claimed to be pregnant, and has exposed herself publicly and has committed lesbian acts in front of witnesses.” Seemingly not understanding how a police background check works, Lawler continued by attacking the second girl who told police that she had sexual contact with him. “The other girl is currently involved in a sexual relationship with a 40 year old neighbor whom she babysits for and also was caught having sex with a black man,” wrote Lawler. “Her mother is aware of both of these situations and admits that her daughter lies to her all the time. The girl also claims to have had sex with ‘several’ wrestlers. She has also bragged in public about having numerous sex partners and she has committed lesbian acts in front of witnesses.”

>Lawler further argued that the girls’ credibility was lacking because of the timeline. The accusers said that the contact happened in June but didn’t come forward until a few months later, after they had gotten in a shouting match with Lawler’s girlfriend at a wrestling show. “Please take the time to check out the reputations of the people involved her, “ he wrote at the start of the final paragraph. “My life and the lives of countless people around me can be irreparable [sic] damaged by this. Thank you for your time and consideration.”

>As of this writing, Lawler has not responded to Deadspin’s email requesting comment on the letter.

part 2
T>he case file, as released to Deadspin, appears to be out of order, but the letter seems to have been sent fairly early on. Lawler later tried to get more backup, and produced several witnesses who signed affidavits on his behalf. These are not especially compelling and generally share similar themes with Lawler’s letter, although there are also affidavits from fans claiming that one of the girls recanted her allegations and that the other claimed that she was going to somehow get $10,000 out of Lawler. One affidavit, though, is a bit out of place: It’s from the person who drove Lawler to the motel where the girls said they met him, and the point of that statement appears to be that she didn’t see the girls enter his room. Lawler, however, had already told police during a 90-minute interview that the girls had been in his room; he said the same thing to investigators in Indiana as part of a parallel investigation. (He maintained that they used the hotel room phone and that was it.)

>The police file also debunks much of the historical narrative around the case, some of which was set by Lawler himself. In an interview with Lawler published in the December 18, 1993 issue of the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter, editor Wade Keller asked Lawler if he had anything to say about the case that he had not already expressed publicly. “I think it was made to sound so much worse than it was when the only way it’s reported is, ‘Jerry Lawler is charged with rape,’” replied Lawler. “When in actuality all it is—here’s a young girl who goes to wrestling who claimed to a friend of hers that she had sex with Jerry Lawler. I mean, how many groupies or girls who go to wrestling have claimed to have had sex with the wrestlers? Millions. And then this just got told to the wrong individual…” Lawler had also made similar comments to Keller several weeks earlier after the story first broke.

>The Louisville police report, however, says the investigation began after one of the girls was confronted about having a sexual relationship with a boy by a male family friend (the Indiana case came about when local authorities were called by the Louisville cops). The girl told the man that she had in fact slept with the boy; when asked if she’d had sexual contact with anyone else, she named Lawler and Bill Martin, who wrestled as Bill Marino in Lawler’s USWA promotion and was not charged in conjunction with the case. The friend told the girl’s mother, and one of them (it’s unclear which due to the redaction of their names) called the Crimes Against Children Unit to report it.

>The mother also told the police that, after confirming the details with her daughter, she called the mother of the other girl and their stories matched up. The accounts that both girls gave to the police, which involved Lawler stripping naked, the girls being hesitant to do anything, and all of them watching cartoons before the girls finally performed oral sex on Lawler, also matched up. Later, all before the case went public, Lawler—running a tape recorder—called the girls’ homes, where he ended up speaking to at least one of them and/or their mothers; allegations were then relayed about him suggesting that this be taken care of by talking to his lawyer. One of the girls maintained that everything she said was true, but she was unsure if she wanted to pursue the case in light of Lawler’s call. Previously, during the initial police interview, one of the girls had broken down in tears while telling detectives what happened in the motel room with Lawler.

>As f0r the issue of whether or not the girls recanted, retired Louisville detective Mike Redmond, who worked the case, told Deadspin that they never did. Instead, they refused to testify against Lawler. with Redmond’s interpretation of the decision being that the girls didn’t want “The King” to get in trouble.

>On Feb. 23, 1994, Lawler copped a plea for harassing a witness, who was said to be a female other than the complainants; the sex crime charges were dismissed. One of Lawler’s attorneys cited the girls’ reluctance to testify as a factor in the deal being made. Lisa Schweikert, speaking for the prosecution, would not comment on the plea past saying that it “served justice.”

>Ford claims they only selected a few people for the privilege of buying the car -- and Cena was one of the lucky ones (Justin Verlander and Joey Logano also own the whip).

>The caveat, according to Ford, owners CANNOT resell the car during the initial 24 months of ownership. Ford claims Cena broke the rules and flipped his ride for a profit. They're suing Cena for every penny he got from the sale.

>But in new court docs filed in district court in Michigan, John says he did nothing wrong -- because the final contract he signed said nothing about a 24-month no resale clause.

>Cena says Ford screwed up by not putting the sale restriction in the final binding contract -- and he shouldn't be punished because they suck at paperwork.

>Now, he's asking the judge to throw out the case against him.

>Stay tuned ...

>"As you can see, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, it is clear that Mr Cena was in direct violation of the verbal contract he agreed with my client, Ford Motors Industry. He blatantly and unapologetically abused their trust to simply further push his lavish lifestyle in the face of the public. This is a clear open and shut case, and I am shocked that Mr Cena feels it necessary to waste all of our time with this farce of a defense."

THEY can make as much money as they like and be obsessed with that
but WE don't have to gag on their cocks for sacrificing quality for profits

I find people who cheerlead when the WWE and other promotions put money before entertainment to be sycophantic, in the true sense of the word ("Profit off me harder Daddy! Just jam it in, I don't care if it's not even entertaining!")

Like, in what other fandom do they care about profits before quality? Who sits around going "Yeah, the TV show Arrow went to utter shit plot and character wise, but I can't knock it, it's still bringing in DC tons of cash!"

Clearly that's more than he would've made on the indies, yeah. That's an absurd contract for someone who will never draw a single dime again. Talk about having tenure.

Also, was I 100% right about the
>"oh boy, I love wrestling SO MUCH and THIS TIME I'm gonna make it FOR REAL, you guys, just you wait" promo
or what?

money and fuckin miles. he's gonna show up, make people look good and be able to ride out into the sunset with a juicy ass, multi million dollar haul on top of what he's already earned before he's 40. that's how you oversell and job your way to ultimate victory.

Pretty sure he bought it. Anyway this is standard contract for limited run luxury cars. They don't want shitheads buying up all the cars and then reselling them second hand for absurd prices, that's why they screen people they want to sell to and make them sign contracts saying that if they want to sell, the manufacturer has first choice. Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, Porsche all do the same thing

New thread will be made when it's made, the Observer isn't out yet.

You can wait for me to wake up after a long sleep, or someone else can have a go at doing the thread.

People seem to prefer the condensed thread + pastebin to full though, seems to be the best solution after a few threads with the whole Dave didn't work out that well.

I know Im just saying that because those same fucks are the ones who made the good OP leave because they decided we’re better off with clusterfuck format so they can all have their WHOLE newsletter despite lack of organization reason or anything besides their apparent inability to resist getting the whole thing free and I’ll be damned if we just went back to the good old original format condensed and all just so they can drive OP away again when its not even Thursday Yet, the usual day that new dirtsheets go up.
Nb, fuckin marks, man.

"When I saw this kid for the first time, tbh I'm confused with the company decision. Why they want to sign him? He doesn't look like a wrestler. Oh may be because he is ultra-talented? Not really; does he ultra-charismatic? Nope; Or perhaps because he's popular in US? I don't think so.

But what I like about this kid is, he wanted to learn. He's improving day by day, start to learn Japanese, learn what the fans like and try to do his best so the fans like him. He developed his character so well. The fans loved it and start to chant "Juice" often times. I'm proud of him, he's one of my favorite wrestlers. Juice Robinson is New Japan."

>who made the good OP leave
No one forced the old OP to not post the Dirtsheet thread for a week because people voted to get the full version. That decision was made all on his own.

We're getting the condensed version no matter who posts it. Complaining about how it was like for 2 weeks when that's in the past is just ridiculous. nb

the report was Cena's defense for selling the car, even though is was still within prohibited period, was he needed to pay bills. personally, i think this was just a throw away excuse he thought would get Ford off his ass and not the truth. but its been part of the story since it first broke.

Theres a Rumor that Bella is eating him out of house and home. He's recently had re amp his WWE appearances when it seemed like he was getting ready to bow out, and he admired the RAW after RR got to him, which is fucking weird for Cena.

Could all be Red Strings though.
