Okada/Omega at WK and at Dominion. Really don't get the love. Maybe its because I've seen 90s AJPW which is essentially the style everyone is doing these days, but nowhere near as well as they did it originally.

This was way too tame to be considered a great match. It was fucking Unsanctioned and there was no extreme shit at all. I'm not a big deathmatch guy, but if you're telling me that this match is going to be 'Unsanctioned', then I want blood. I want carnage. I want guys to be putting each other through 100 tables. You're the ones promising it so fucking deliver. In an unsanctioned match, I want to see everything I don't normally see and there was nothing out of the ordinary here.

Everyone rightfully shits on their WM34 match, but I distinctly remember many people praising their WM31 match even though it was just a glorified squash match. Anybody could have filled the role Roman did in this match and the only good things to come from it were the finish and "Suplex City, bitch." which then directly lead to Lesnar dumbing down his style so in hindsight can't really be called a positive.

Bad build but a show that was more than watchable.
Compare that to WM34 - Build for everything, but overall a trash show.
The difference is expectations were incredibly low for WM31 so it was going to deliver on very little.

Saw it as a 8/9 year old jimmy in 2006, fell in love with wrestling. Even now, it's unique how the Iron Man stipulation was a play on the old 60-minute time limit draw. Also, HBK and Bret being two of the greatest ever helps.

>dumbing down

You could argue that it was actually smartening up. Think about it. If you can just take someone’s back and repeatedly suplex them to victory in any given match, how would it make sense to do anything except this? Why lessen your chances of victory by doing anything else than the thing which guarantees your victory?

It’s kinda good because it’s the opposite of the bullshit problem WWE usually creates where they give someone a “finisher” which is an auto win like the RKO was promoted to be, but then the guy does a bunch of other pointless shit for no reason instead of just walking up and hitting an RKO. Where Randy Orton would pick up his dazed opponent and then drop kick them for no reason when he could just RKO them.

If more matches were booking with that kind of simple common sense consistent throughout then WWE would be a drastically better promotion.
