>T-Hawk fucked off to China. RIP

THE STUFF IN THE TUBES:
>Puro Tube is on Tuesdays at 3pm EST / 8pm GMT in /wooo/tube - http://taima.tv/r/wooo and shows promotions outside of Dragon Gate and NJPW. Join in as everyone argues why their favorite fed is superior and Yanopost, Anopost, CIMApost and dance like Keita until your tummy is full from all that snackpine.
>DG Tube is on Thursdays at 8pm EST / 1am GMT in Mondai Night Ryu - http://taima.tv/r/mondainightryu and features the latest and classic Dragon Gate shows. Other stuff is featured here from time to time as well. (like cheesy 80s films or the mega marathon before Kobe World and recently OWE)
>NJPW on AXS TV is also on Thursdays at 8pm EST / 1am GMT (7pm EST / 12am GMT if there are two episodes) in /wooo/tube showing recent matches on tape delay with English commentary by Jim Ross and Josh Barnett. Replays air on Fridays at 12:45pm EST / 5:45pm GMT (11:50am EST / 4:50pm GMT if there are two episodes) in /wooo/tube.

Outside of Puro Tube, there's usually a few puro marks in the chat that can help fill you in on storylines and find you matches. Just show up outside of big shows like Raw, and you'll find someone in there to help you out. Puro matches also show up in the playlist, so scroll around to find them. NJPW, DG, and DDT live events are regularly streamed in the tubes, check the schedule for details.

>THE MAJOR FEDS:

NJPW: Oldest and largest promotion in Japan. Owned by Bushiroad and is booked by Gedo. His booking gets the tubes riled up sometimes (all the time), but the match quality generally makes up for it. In the midst of something of a revival, and although you may argue that it is already drawing to a close, they are still doing good business at the moment. They run one of the largest shows in wrestling, called Wrestle Kingdom, every year on January 4th at the fabled Tokyo Dome. Most every show they run, large and small, air in the tubes. They have a slew of foreign wrestlers on their roster right now. They also have a wonderful streaming website over at http://njpwworld.com/

Dragon Gate: Almost certainly the second largest promotion in Japan. Born out of the Toryumon promotion, which was the brainchild of Ultimo Dragon, their style is a mixture of classic puro, cruiserweight/junior heavyweight sprints, and lucha libre. Stable warfare is a huge part of the promotion, with most every wrestler in the company being aligned with a unit in some way. Though it is a big promotion, they retain a grassroots feel, with wrestlers selling merch before and after shows, and running many shows out of community centers and gyms. Most of their large shows air in the tubes, and footage is also posted here. They also have a show that is filmed monthly in their little studio in Kobe called Prime Zone which is wacky, fun, and full of Mondai Ryu schemes. They recently joined the streaming bandwagon over at https://dragongate.live

DDT: Indie promotion gunning for the second-largest-in-Japan spot alongside Dragon Gate. Founded in 1997 by Sanshiro Takagi (a big Stone Cold Steve Austin fan), they have taken the western sports entertainment style to the next level with ridiculous matches and outrageous gimmicks, like violently gay wrestlers, promos done in PowerPoint before matches, championships specifically for dark matches, and blow-up dolls and ladders winning titles. Despite the goofiness, there is tons of talent there, with names like Kota Ibushi, HARASHIMA, and Kenny Omega having been regulars at one point or another. They have released ddtuniverse, which is like NJPW World. A streaming site for all your DDT needs. The other companies that work alongside DDT also have their stuff on there. They, like NJPW have a great streaming service over at http://ddtuniverse.com/

AJPW: Still rebuilding from the glory days of the 80s and 90s, when icons like Jumbo Tsuruta, Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Toshiaki Kawada, Stan Hansen, Genichiro Tenryu, and Akira Taue loomed large. They were nearly killed after Misawa formed Pro Wrestling NOAH, taking most of the roster with him, but after a decade and a half of turmoil, they are doing fairly well right now, thanks in no small part due to the efforts of Jun Akiyama. The 80s/90s classics are a must-watch for any new puro fan, and their current product ain't bad either. They also joined the streaming sensation sweeping Japan right now. Their website can be found over at https://www.ajpw.tv

NOAH: Founded in 2000 by Misawa after leaving AJPW. Was arguably the best fed in the world for a few years, featuring the Four Pillars of AJPW and new faces like KENTA, Naomichi Marufuji, Go Shiozaki, and Takeshi Morishima, but since Misawa’s death in 2009, they have taken quite a nosedive. It was being booked by Jado, but has since been sold. NOAH is now working on rebuilding. They are currently working a lot with (skeezy) Japanese indie wrestlers such as YO-HEY and Hayata. Some very talented foreign wrestlers, including Zack Sabre Jr. and Chris Hero, have worked for them as well.

BJW: Founded in 1995 in the midst of FMW’s deathmatch craze, Big Japan became their successor much in the same way CZW became the new ECW. Famed for being the first promotion to use lighttubes in deathmatches, as well as tons of other crazy shit. Over the last few years they have begun toning down the blood and carnage, and have awesome Strong and Tag Team divisions with many talented wrestlers, but this is still the go-to promotion for deathmatches in Japan. They recently joined aboard the streaming train and unveiled BJW Core, which is their streaming service. It is found over at http://bjwcore.com

His matches are quality but the whole angle is just stone cold

Sami winning the belt probably thawed it out a bit but eh. He gets a rematch tonight I think, and probably wins it back.
He gets to main event Maji Manji finally. I assume all this DAMNATION beef in interaction will end up with Sasaki winning(cuz fuck Endo) and challenging Irie but that feels weird for a Sumo Hall main event.

>>6118599
To be quite honest when I saw how they executed HARASHIMA/Irie has turned out more sad than upsetting, definitely more than whatever they thought it would turn out to be. I over exaggerate a lot admittedly but at this point maybe someone new's gotta lead the ship at this point now.

Apparently, Eita said that ANTIAS will be bringing in guys from other promotions & overseas going forward. There's a chance it could be PAC since the new member is supposed to be someone from DG's past, but it could be even someone else like Jack Evans. Either way, ANTIAS becoming the heel version of World-1 International with some Millenials thrown in thanks to the emphasis on younger guys is pretty cool.

Now, for some huge fucking news: http://spora.jp/dragongate/posts/608030

On October 7th, Shingo Takagi's affiliation with Dragon Gate will come to an end.

From a shit translation of the statement via Google, he plans on going freelance so he can wrestle wherever & whenever he wants. He'd like to come back to wrestle in DG when the time is right, but he won't be doing it under a DG contract.

According to the translation, it's something he has been wanting to do for several years now, but it wasn't until the change in management that they agreed to it.

My guess is that he just wants to work wherever he wants, with no restrictions. Can't blame him if that's the case, as it's gotta be tough trying to work feds like AJPW, BJW etc. while also on tour with Dragon Gate.

DG should be fine after that, they have backup members for that, if something will happen. But there's a problem, DG heels doesn't have automatic heel magnet heat like Takagi have one. Eita's bad on promo, Big R is trying and we know Ben-K is shit mic promo(we will see what he will show up with his heel ring skill). Quick solution would be goth BxB Hulk turning on Tribe Vanguard in disband match against new heel unit. We don't know yet who will be a new member(probably PAC), so we will see.

To add: Dragon Gate translated the official statement about Takagi's departure. It's a bit long so here's some notes:

>He's been wanting to go freelance for years as he's longed for the freedom to wrestle people inside Japan & out, but the old regime (basically Okamura & CIMA) wouldn't allow it. After Kobe World this year, he asked the new regime & they agreed, allowing him to leave when his contract is up.
>He'll remain a member of SAITNA until the group's renaming at Dangerous Gate. Following that, he'll be competing unaffiliated for the remainder of his dates.
>Although he's becoming a freelancer, Shingo still wants to come back to Dragon Gate, if the opportunity arises. He sees a lot of promising rookies in DG that he wants to battle in the future.
>His final date will be October 7th at the Hakata Starlanes, same building & same month he wrestled his debut match 14 years ago.

So, what are the odds he teams with BxB Hulk & YAMATO in his final match?

Honestly, the biggest impact Shingo going freelance will have on DG will be the in-ring quality. DG doesn't have anyone I'd say is outright bad, but Shingo was arguably their best guy for singles main event matches. Only other dude that's really on his level is Mochi, YAMATO (when he's motivated) & recently, Kzy.

Dudes like Ben-K & Big R can carry on the powerhouse role as they keep improving, but Takagi is really unique in the way he tossed & bullied dudes in the ring.

>DG doesn't have anyone I'd say is outright bad
Kanda and Fat-Joe would like a word with you.
Shingo leaving will hurt DG, but it will also give both Ben-K and Big R a chance to step up as the primary powerhouses of DG. In all seriousness, Shingo really had nothing left to do in DG and his presence was overshadowing every other heel. So him moving on is good for him and Dragon Gate in long term.

There are two tiers, the more expensive one gets you access to the library and live shows but the live shows are only up for a week then are pulled for a month or so and put in the library.
The cheaper one just gets you access to said library so you will be waiting a month for new shows.

>After intermission Sanshiro Takagi & Tomomitsu Matsunaga came out to make an announcement. They are displeased over Booing 2018 being left off the 23rd September Korakuen Hall show. They also noticed that DDT for the last few years has been light on showcasing independent wrestlers. DDT is owned by CyberAgent (in fact the Korakuen show takes place on the 1st anniversary of the sale) but they will always remember their past as an indie league. So they want to hold a special audition match on the Korakuen pre-show with the goal of recruiting new independent wrestlers, local wrestlers and student wrestlers for a massive dream indie show called “ALL DOIN”! Takagi is aware of the super indie show called “ALL IN” that recently took place in America. He admits this idea is probably a rip off. He wants anybody in Japan interested in taking part to DM him on social media with the hashtag #ALLDOIN.

I'm surprised to see Bitman's name still. First time seeing him was in early HKWF when someone ran a SynchTube of international wrestling and shit. Hell, it's cool as fuck they're running with DG now (along with HoHo and friends).

Also, I'm not used to YAMATO having straightened hair as opposed to his wild long sexhair.

So, some Dragon Gate news: For starters, Eita is promising another surprise for Korakuen Hall, for RED's newest member. Flamita & Bandido are set to return to DG at Gate of Destiny on November 4th & the main event of Gate of Destiny will be Yoshino defending the Dream Gate against Ben-K.

Also, here's the card for the next two Dragon Gate shows:

>Tokyo, Korakuen Hall: The Gate of Victory 2018

>1. Natural Vibes (Kzy, Susumu Yokosuka & “brother” YASSHI) vs. Problem Dragon, Kota Minoura & Hiroshi Yamato (Freelancer)
>2. Ryo Saito & Don Fujii vs. Genki Horiguchi & Gamma
>3. Punch Tominaga vs. KAI (Freelance)
>4. Tribe Vanguard (YAMATO, Kagetora, Yosuke♡Santa Maria & U-T) vs. Mochizuki Dojo (Masaaki Mochizuki, Shun Skywalker, Hyo Watanabe & Yuki Yoshioka)
>5. Jason Lee, Dragon Kid, Kaito Ishida vs. R.E.D. (Takashi Yoshida, Yasushi Kanda & Kazma Sakamoto)
>6. Speed Muscle (Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino) vs. Big Ben (Big R Shimizu & Ben-K)
>7. Shingo Takagi’s Final Dragon Gate Match in Tokyo: Shingo Takagi & BxB Hulk vs. R.E.D. (Eita & X)

>Fukuoka, Hakata Star Lanes: The Gate of Victory 2018

>1. Natural Vibes (Kzy, Susumu Yokosuka & “brother” YASSHI) vs. Jason Lee, Problem Dragon & Hyo Watanabe
>2. Ryo Saito & Don Fujii vs. Gamma & Shachihoko Boy
>3. Takashi Yoshida vs. Punch Tominaga
>4. Tribe Vanguard (YAMATO, Yosuke♡Santa Maria & U-T) vs. Mochizuki Dojo (Masaaki Mochizuki, Shun Skywalker & Yuki Yoshioka)
>5. MaxiMuM (Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino), Dragon Kid & Kaito Ishida vs. R.E.D. (Big R Shimizu, Eita, Ben-K & Yasushi Kanda)
>6. Shingo Takagi Dragon Gate Final: Shingo Takagi vs. BxB Hulk

Here's hoping the surprise is actually a good one, this time.

All Japan announced their schedule for October and their looks to be a lot of cool match ups.
>October 3rd, featuring Suwama and Ishikawa vs Jake Lee and Koji Iwamoto
>October 8th, The Big Guns vs Kento Miyahara and Naoya Nomura
>October 10th, The FUCKING Big Guns (Zeus and Yuji Hino) vs Kento Miyahara and Yoshi Tatsu
>Show also features the return of Yuske Okada vs Keiichi Sato
>October 13th, Shuji Ishikawa vs Yuma Aoyagi
>October 14th, Jake Lee vs Naoya Nomura
>October 21st (The big one), Suwama and Shuji Ishikawa vs Kai and Kengo Mashimo. Kento Miyahara vs Zeus. Taijiri vs some asshole. Also expect to see Yuji Hino and Shingo as the latter finishes up with Dragon Gate in two weeks.

I dunno. CIMA & the others took a big risk in leaving Dragon Gate for OWE (CIMA & T-Hawk especially, since CIMA was next in line for president & Hawk was a huge star for their future), but if the company doesn't get off the ground, they'll need to go somewhere. Unless they get a ton of offers from all over the world like Shingo.

Meant to add: Strong Hearts will be fine outside of Dragon Gate if they go all over the world, tho. Getting constant bookings in the US/UK/Germany, etc. like Takagi would do wonders & would bring in more money than them just staying in DG.

If they're gonna work mostly in Japan however, they have very few options outside of DDT, NJPW or going back to DG.

So apparently, Jae seems to think the new member of RED will be Jun Kasai as Eita got advice from him on prepping the barbed wire from Dangerous Gate & he fits the deathmatch motif of the unit.

On top of that, Daga is heading over to DG in a few weeks & given that he & Eita are both Perros Del Mal alumni, wouldn't surprise me if he joins the faction at some point.

questions about dragon gate from someone who doesn't watch dragon gate and MNR is on at 2am where they live;

where's the best place to start right now?

and is DG Network worth it in comparison to just getting stuff from XWT or Mother Russia or wherever? The 1 month VOD delay spooks me and I don't know if the infinity versions are OK or if they just butcher everything

>where's the best place to start right now?
To catch yourself up to the current product, I'd recommend starting with the Gate of Origin in Sendai show & last weeks Dangerous Gate PPV.

>DG Network worth it in comparison to just getting stuff from XWT or Mother Russia or wherever?
The 1 month VOD delay does suck, but aside from that the Network is pretty solid. With the $15 tier, you not only get the live airing of all their Infinity tapings & PPVs/Korakuens etc. but you also get Prime Zone, NEX, YAMATO's cooking show & access to older shows from the video library, dating back to Toryumon Japan.

>I don't know if the infinity versions are OK or if they just butcher everything
The Infinity versions are pretty good. Unless it's a Korakuen Hall show or PPV, DG shows usually air live with hardcam-only & no commentary, but the Infinity versions have the full multi-camera set-up with commentary. The only time the Infinity airing usually butchers anything is when DG PPVs air on Infinity, where they cut out most entrances aside from the main events.

GAORA re cunts, and doesn't allow shows to be uploaded on Dragon Gate Live until they've aired on GAORA TV a month after they've aired.

So my guess is that it will be uploaded on DG Live (and probably XTW) later this month.

But for real, I would've been more interested in Takagi being a heavyweight, because there's so many dudes in NJPW he could have great singles matches with.

But if Ospreay is going heavyweight, i guess Shingo can do so when/if Hiromu comes back.

That he's about the size of Naito and towering over Bushin. That guys like Young Bucks, ZSJ, Ibushi. Tama Tonga are all the size of Shingo or smaller and yet they are considered heavyweights.

The fact that Shingo left Dragon Gate to do "heavyweight wrestling" and now he's stuck in the dead junior division where foreigners rule supreme.

shingo not in a singlet is weird but i'm also pretty sure he will be a heavyweight and doing barnburners with ishii soon enough so i'm not too upset about him being a junior. he's the same height and seize as evil.

considering what's been happening with DG and the people that left I'm absolutely positive there's probably more to it than simply just not wanting to be a junior, the guy went from leaving at fucking Hakata starlanes to debuting in a completely packed sumo hall 24 hours later, let the guy have some success

>foreigners rule supreme
the only person this could even possibly apply to is Ospreay and he's easily like the second most over Junior in the company so this is quite a strange take

Let's be fair, that was the last night under his deal & it was the same building he debuted in.
It's honestly more offensive the show was a hardcam/no commentary Infinity taping, than it being at the Starlanes.

To summarize: He's been wanting to go do his own thing for years, but the old regime (CIMA & Okamura) wouldn't let him leave DG. New regime took over earlier this year & after World, he asked to leave & was granted.

He's tight with Naito, so now he's in LIJ.

Like, I want to believe this and that Shingo will do well. But I just feel like New Japan (much like WWE) have taken wrestlers I enjoyed watching in other promotions and sucked all the joy out of watching them.

I was so hype when Ishimori first came to NJPW. Now I don't really care. I'll watchg if he's in a special match. But random tag, six man, eight man tag matches and I'll tune out.

Used to be a big Ospreay fan. Then he went to New Japan, and that was awesome, in the beginning. But then it just started to feel like he has been one of the most overpushed juniors I've seen them have. He's basically taken over the Devitt/Ricochet spot as the good looking gaijin junior.

Same with Naito and the gang, I enjoyed them at the beginning but it just feel like they are just doing the same shit now since 2015.

Bullet Club. Awesome at the beginning, more and more members come in, the stable feels bloated. I don't care about a single Bullet Club member (besides Ishimori I guess).

I don't know what's wrong with me. Maybe I'm just burning myself out on wrestling and not being able to let go, take a healthy break or something. But I just find myself getting tired of stuff more easily. I'll probably still watch New Japan for the odd important Shingo/Ishimori match and the odd big show (WK and the like).

the guy had a big debut and joined their most popular faction day one, i hate to break it to you but he's 99% locked down as far as work in Japan goes, they'e not gonna do all of that and let the likes of BJW or others benefit off that rub. I think he can do like Ospreay does and work elsewhere though

They are still in NOAH for a reason while he has soared to new heights.

Shingo Takagi is a guy from a junior heavyweight gay flips promotion who works and looks like a 21st Century Riki Chosu. He's CIMA's first ever DG trainee, but fucked off to work heavyweight based promotions (All Japan, now New Japan) of his own free will. He's always felt off as a face, and the fans never took to him as one, but makes an amazing heel. He's a perfect fit for Los Ingobernables.

And he's tight with Naito, which is the real selection point for LIJ.

AJPW Real World Tag League teams have been announced. It's 11 teams in one block and the finals will take place on 12/11 at Korakuen Hall.

>Jun Akiyama & Daisuke Sekimoto
>Yoshiken (Kento Miyahara & Yoshitatsu)
>NEXTREAM (Naoya Nomura & Yuma Aoyagi)
>Get Wild (Takao Omori & Manabu Soya)
>Violent Giants (Suwama & Shuji Ishikawa)
>The End (Odinson & Parrow)
>TAJIRI & Gianni Valletta
>Joe Doering & Dylan James
>Sweeper (Jake Lee & Ryouji Sai)
>The Big Guns (Zeus & The Bodyguard)
>KAI & Kengo Mashimo

It'll probably end up being a better tournament than NJPW's World Tag League especially with Violent Giants being back and their top guys like Zeus and Kento also being in it.

From Tokyo Sports.

In an interview in Monday from Tokyo Sports it was announced that on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the death of the founder of All Japan Pro Wrestling , Giant Baba , on 19 February 2019 joint event with the name "Pro-Wrestling All Star Battle" by All Japan, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH will be held at Sumo Hall in Tokyo.

Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki , the later founders of New Japan Pro Wrestling, both started their careers in the Japan Wrestling Association in 1960and became the two biggest stars of their era. When the JWA lost traction in the early 1970s, first Inoki and later also Baba jumped off. Both had not been comfortable for a long time, even though they held the NWA International Tag Team Title four times in the JWA. Under these auspices, the first of a total of three All Star Battle shows took place on August 26, 1979, two of which were sponsored by Tokyo Sports.

The first of these events in 1979 took place in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Tokyo Sports. For the first time since 1971, Inoki and Baba were back in the ring together as Abdullah The Butcher & Tiger Jeet Singhdefeated. It should be the last time that the two greats of Japanese wrestling contested a match. Thus, "Pro-Wrestling All Star Battle" in February 2019 will again be an anniversary event for the renowned sports magazine.

Most recently, in 2011 and 2012, events were held under the banner "All Together" to raise funds for the victims of the great earthquake disaster. Also at these events there were numerous matches in which wrestlers of the three big promotions met. Hope for Dream Tag Team Matches, so you can make this time again, singles matches between stars of two promotions are traditionally not held at such events.

What dream matches do you want to see?

supposedly fucked up one of his legs really bad in a motor accident. obviously via instagram you can see he looks pretty normal but i guess he hasn't been cleared or njpw just hasn't formally announced his return.

as for the other missing young lions: HIKULEO is healthy again and supposedly moved to the LA dojo, yagi retired last month from injury and teruaki kanemitsu quietly has transitioned to a trainer/translator role since 2016 because apparently the surgery he had for his neck means that any bad bump will essentially Hayabusa him for lack of better phrasing

>>6167225
still 4 title matches to be announced although realistically it'll be 3 + 1 nontitle match because the tongas have the tag and 6-man titles and no one on earth wants to watch them wrestle in one night.

probably Goto/Ibushi, Tongas/Bucks round #5000, Cody/random guy and, i dunno, i guess that leaves room for the dads to have a multiman tag in the opener

I didn't think it was boring but it was really slow, and it was about 5-10 minutes too long. When you hear PAC vs Flamita at Dragon Gate you are going to have some expectations. But they went in another direction entirely.
Compare it to the Dragon Kid/Bandido match that was about 5 minutes shorter it was way better.

Also learned more about that AJPW/NJPW/NOAH Supershow taking place in February. It was thought of as a last will for Mrs. Baba, who wished for a 20th Anniversary of Giant Baba's passing. There are talks last month of adding Wrestle-1 and Big Japan to join the show. Currently the following three are working on setting up the show: Seiji Sakaguchi (a former tag team champion with Baba during the JWA, and one of the first wrestlers in New Japan), Genichiro Tenryu, and Jun Akiyama.

The lineup for World Tag League is pretty underwhelming this year. No new outside talent or interesting team pairing. Surprise to see Hangman Page and Chase Owens aren't teaming considering they've been hyping up the idea these past few months. Also they decided to make it a single block instead of the traditional two block bracket like the last few years

the most offputting thing about AJPW is seeing yoshi tatsu in a featured role next to miyahara. anyone who watched WWE or NJPW knows he's shit, putting him next to their champion makes them look like they're on the same level lmao.

He has a better attitude in All Japan compared to his New Japan return post Styles Clash. Sometimes a wrestler performs better depending on the locker room. Look at how too many guys and women in the WWE phone it in compared to where they were before the WWE. It also helps that there are no reports of wrestlers in the All Japan locker room are mocking Yoshi, like in New Japan.

One thing that makes this really good, is that Bahu, or Bret FMW, is one of the best informants for FMW. He's been following the promotion and importing it here since the 90's. When TokyoPop was bringing FMW shows to the states, they had him as their consultant.

His wife even did this for him as a surprise at his wedding.

Some DDT notes for everyone:
  • DDT is streaming the Korakuen Hall show this Saturday/Sunday on Youtube. The Youtube link lists the entire card so it might be showing the entire show but I could be wrong and they'll show a portion of it like with Peter Pan. Also a reminder that intermission is back for Korakuen Hall shows, which caused this one to start 30 minutes early. https://twitter.com/ddtpro_eng/status/1065402201298755584

>Every Friday they will update a themed set of videos that can be viewed if you are registered as a Bronze (free) member or above
>Cosmetic updates for the top pages of each brand
>All "Free if watching live" shows AKA all the AbemaTV co-streamed shows like the Korakuen Halls and TJPW's Anniversary show 12/1 will now only be available to those with a Bronze(free) Membership. This doesn't affect you if you are already a paying member. https://twitter.com/ddtpro_eng/status/1065503271505211392

So in Dragon Gate news:

>Kotoka's brother Oji Shiba suffered a serious knee injury on 10/8 & will be out of action healing his MCL & ACL.
>Following a successful defense against Ryo Saito, Gamma & Don Fujii, Natural Vibes now holds the record for most successful defenses of the Open The Triangle Gate Championship
>The first match for Final Gate 2018 was officially announced, as Dragon Kid & Eita will finally finish their year-long feud in a Hair vs. Mask match.

It's been talked about before that if PAC defeats Yoshino on 12/4, the Dream Gate title will likely not be defended in Fukuoka, so this will probably be a solid enough main event for the big show.

well the WordPress hasn't updated in a week and a half. Mort said on twitter that he wanted to cut down on his workload because it was getting too tiring for him so in order for him to be able to do something and not die he's just doing stuff that definitely won't go to tape. You can get the tweets if you scroll down to about the 16th of November but it was a lot less specific than that. But it should make it clear

He's still updating, just on the twitter. He's definitely uploading the Samurai misc. stuff like Battmen and the latest Susume. He's only uploaded two events since - the Machida Pro Wrestling produce show (basically Ishikawa produce) from Nicopro and the Oz Academy double that was on Gaora a couple of days ago.

There's a WRESTLE-1 show that goes off Nicopro in a day that isn't there and you can't signup without a Japanese credit card or phone so us yankee yeehaw folks are fucked if they're inaccessible again. But then again he uploaded Machida so I don't know. There was a Nishiguchi show that was on G+ that hasn't been uploaded yet but he uploaded OZ and knowing IPTV it'll be on catchup for a week anyways. And you actually can do that with a non-JP credit card (albeit for $180-something p/y) so I'm not worried about that. I'm just paranoid this is going to be another RealHero situation, but even worse

Oh, and speaking of that - can y'all please backup your shit from PuroresuDream now while you can? The Agutin account on VK went bye-bye too, if that's your answer. And the loss of stuff from web when the RH Archive went was downright catastrophic, even if tape sites have most if not all of it. So please don't let that happen again, aight? And PLEASE don't get mad at Mort because it was amazing that he could what he did for so long, and still continues to do it for now at least

>Yoshino took the title at an all time low point and kept the top steady until there was a real direction to go. He had no business even coming back last year and he may have given the last of what he had here. Don’t know what he has left but he is already the goddamn greatest.

Honestly, I don't think it could be understated just how much Mochizuki & Yoshino's Dream Gate reigns have really helped Dragon Gate. Mochi beating YAMATO for the title at Dangerous Gate 2017 was a phenomenal moment & the man putting on the matches he did at the age of 48 is nothing short of amazing. Yoshino coming back from such a severe injury & winning the title made for a great story & his reign was the kind DG really needed after CIMA's departure/in the midst of Shingo leaving. Yoshino is probably done as champion for the time being, but the man deserves all the credit in the world for being the man.

>The winner of the NEVER Openweight gauntlet match on the #njwk13 preshow will have their title match at New Years Dash.

>January 30 in the Globe theatre in California February 1 in North Carolina. New Beginning USA is the ‘third pillar’ of the US expansion, with New Japan style matches parallel to the Japanese shows on February 2/3.
That's PWG's venue in LA. Can hold about 800 people.

>Re: New Beginning in US, there will be focus on the LA Dojo crew, but also wrestlers who aren’t on New Beginning cards in Japan will be in the us.

NJPW is running the Grady Cole Center. It's a 3 Thousand seater that used to be a stronghold for Jim Crockett Promotions. ROH did their first iPPV ever there and its used for Roller Derby now.

Kota Ibushi reveals he turned down AEW contract
>Highly touted NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) star Kota Ibushi revealed in an interview that he has actually turned down a deal from AEW (All Elite Wrestling).

>Ibushi recently announced that he would be staying in NJPW as he has signed a two-year deal with NJPW as well as entering the New Japan Cup.

>Ibushi discussed that he turned down an offer to join the roster of AEW and signing with NJPW while speaking to ShuPro (translation via NJPW commentator Chris Charlton)

>‘I want to wrestle exclusively for New Japan. If I can, I want to be on every card, every tour,” said Ibushi. “AEW said they just want me in their ring in some form. The ideal for them was for me to move to America and be there full time. I turned them down just after Wrestle Kingdom. If I went it would be the end of my career. There wouldn’t be anywhere else to go after that. No step up, nothing left to do. That would be the last step to make, and after that things would just go down. Great money, but I want to keep developing.”

>Ibushi continued, “What I realized (talking to AEW) was I really don’t care about money.”

>Ben-K held YAMATO for a Superkick from Eita, but he moved. Eita hit Ben, allowing YAMATO to pick up the win. Eita berated Ben afterwards. Totally useless. All he had to do was just keep his hold on him and R・E・D would have won. Shimizu is also useless. Where was he at the end? Why didn’t he come in to make the save? R・E・D might be better off without them. They won’t be Twin Gate champions much longer if they keep this up. Shimizu was contrite. He asked Eita to calm down and watch their defense on Sunday. They will show Eita all he needs to see. Eita told them he didn’t care whether they kept the titles or not. All he cares about is how useful they are to him.

So, Eita being kicked out or Big Ben leaving?

Strong Style is a marketing buzzword, like Blast Processing. I will agree with you that he has been very monotonous with his matches. But that seems to happen a lot for wrestlers past the age of 40. Wrestlers like Harley Race, Minoru Suzuki, and Ric Flair are the only ones I can think off the top of my head that could still go at the age of 50. Yuji Nagata might be the next one, but we'll see.

It might've started as marketing, but I would argue that New Japan in the 70's, 80's and 90's legitimately had a unique style focused on submission wrestling, mat work and hard hits that could be called that.

He's right though, "strong style" had clear aesthetics that were focused on submission/striking based realism compared to the epics of King's Road style which were more about matches with intricate long term storytelling, more high spots and completely different pacing. Modern NJPW has nothing resembling this style so it's kind of a moot point but it's disingenuous to pretend 'strong style' was merely a marketing gimmick when it was more of a philosophy.

On April 10th in Korakuen Hall, Super Strong Machine's son Strong Machine J, will make his debut as a wrestler on the Dragon Gate roster teaming with Strong Machine F & Strong Machine G against Kzy, Genki Horiguchi & Susumu Yokosuka of Natural Vibes.
This news caps off a week filled with news for DG, including:

>On April 10th, all 5 members of AaganIisou will make their first appearance in Dragon Gate as a faction since 2004 against a 5 man team yet to be decided.
>Gamma & Don Fujii will create a faction centred around the veterans in the promotion with an official unveiling next month
>K-Ness declaring he wants a match with Jushin Thunder Liger before Liger retires
>Naruki Doi vs. Dragon Kid was an interesting match with Doi attacking Kid before the bell, showing up in his VerserK attire & spent the whole match assaulting DK before kicking him in the balls & connecting a Bakatare Sliding Kick for the victory

>And the main event of Dead Or Alive has been set up by GM Yagi in the aftermath of the huge 4-way 8-man tag match. This year, instead of hairs & masks being on the line, the theme for DoA this year is all about factions.‪ R・E・D, MaxiMuM, Natural Vibes, Tribe Vanguard, & Dojo Mochizuki will each field one member as their representative. In the weeks up to May 6th, each unit will hold an intra-unit tag match to decide their representative.

>There will be the usual set of flags set at the top of the cage. The fighter that doesn’t capture a flag will be forced to choose a member of their unit to kick out.

>That is not all. Each escaped representative will also gain the optional right to choose a member to kick out. Whether they use this privilege is entirely up to their discretion. Units are encouraged to strengthen their bonds to ensure their representative doesn’t exercise this option.

The R.E.D & MaxiMuM intra-unit matches for DoA has been announced for the next Korakuen, with Eita teaming up with Takashi Yoshida against Big Ben & Naruki Doi teaming with Dragon Kid to face Masato Yoshino & Kaito Ishida. Vibes, Tribe & MochiDojo will have their decision matches in Kobe, Nagoya & Wakayama respectively.

So Strong Machine F is probably Don, and Strong Machine G is probably Gamma. Wonder where they're going with this, but it looks exciting.

So, the person who is representing each stable is one of the winners? If, for example, Big Ben wins, do they choose between them who will be in DoA? I don't get why Doi picked DK to be his partner then. But this is kind of exciting. I doubt Vibes, Tribe or the new stable, even if they're in, are going to win or lose. RED and MaxiMuM have the highest chance to win or lose, but I feel like MochiDojo will be thrown in to lose as a twist. I can easily imagine Mochi losing, and maybe kicking out Shun since he is the most advanced student, and feels like he can grow better in a different stable.

I'm excited to see Mori come back. Always glad to see the old guys return for fun, even for Magnitude Kishiwada. Liger back in DG is cool. Not feeling K-ness to be his opponent but whatever.

I'm awful for remember dates or shows but I'm fairly sure all his singles matches against Hideyoshi Kamitani were good to great, especially those from a couple of years ago when they were first trying to bring Kamitani up from young boy to possible main eventer.

Anything with him and Daisuke Sekimoto or Yuji Okabayashi are likely to be pretty good too just because they are also great.

Also some of his tag matches can be pretty fun in a slightly different way when he is playing his role of being the totally disinterested veteran who thinks his opponents are a waste of time, if they are young boys and such.

I saw like two so far not in this list. Him vs Daisuke Nakamura in UWF rules was a pretty fun romp, and him vs Daiki Ikeda (where he just fucking schools a Young Boy in 6 minutes).

I better look for the Sekimoto/Okabayashi matches, they should definitely be good.

Thanks bro!

"Flippy shit" nonsense aside, Yamamura suffered his first neck injury from a standard missile dropkick.
Doctors told him not to comeback, but he didn't wanna give up & worked to come back, when he honestly shouldn't have.

I mean, he was told he wasn't even allowed to go on rollercoasters anymore, but he still tried to get back in the ring.

Yes, because its completely the same thing to slip from someone elses grasp and get necked and systematically destroying your body and health for the sake of a company. Because all those early deaths in Japan from overworking, stress-related issues, strokes and heart attacks are amazing. Because all the prominent people who ended up hospitalized from being overworked is just how it should be in the world. Because the high rates of suicide and depression caused by the corporate culture where the company is more important than people is just dreamy.

The field and brackets for this year's 2019 tournament. I assume that the General Election will decide who challenges for the title at Ultimate Party in November and the D-Ou comes back in January and the winner getting a shot at Judgement.
The losers of the 1st round will have a battle royal to re-enter the tournament on 5/6 and face either Sakaguchi or Sasaki later that night.

God, that's a sad read.
The story of Yamamura has been absolutely depressing thinking about it. His rise up the card in 2017 was so fucking great to see & you could tell that he pretty much had all the tools needed to be an ace one day & carry Dragon Gate.

But that injury was the beginning of the end for him. I was happy that he had that moment in December, coming back against Lindaman but it's clear that it would've been for the best that he stayed out of the ring. He can be a manager or ref like Jae said, but he shouldn't wrestle again.
