Would AEW even exist if Vince just gave in and let him have a normal gimmick?

Yes, Cody just wouldn't be involved

I actually liked the Stardust/Goldust tag team and think they could have worked both great as faces and heels with proper booking.

Stardust was legit underrated. I hate the whole situation because it was a legit quality gimmick that just happened to get buried to Main Event for whatever dumb backstage reason. The Cosmic Wasteland should have been a great midcard unit at least. You can't say it's better than American Nightmare Cody but on paper Stardust was a lot more interesting and I hate how this gimmick of all things probably made colorful/wacky gimmicks in general look bad just because Cody had a bad experience with it.

The fact he didn't get a Wrestlemania match with his brother is what did it

Would WWE even exist if Vince had never been molested?

Really makes you think

yes, he would have inherited a shitload of money from Vince Sr. one day anyway and gravitated towards wrestling anyway.

If he wasn't so crazy he may have went into a normal business like his brother did.

Even if it wasn't for him being so abused by his mom and her boyfriends he would probably have led SOME kind troubled childhood, eventually gotten in touch with his dad and get absorbed into the wrestling business.

I don't think it would have taken a lot to make him basically a 60's version of an emo kid that easily falls in love with this alternative style of entertainment that his NY bigshot dad happens to own and decides to make it his life.

You talk like Cody is funding it. This isn't a Jarrett situation.

actually this is a Jarrett situation. JJ just never found the right money mark for Global Force. He *almost* had it with Anthem.

Jarrett's at AAA still, so who knows, it might still become a Jarrett situation

Probably not. If Vince actually tried to succeed with Cody he'd probably be willing to try to succeed with other talented wrestlers. Then WWE wouldn't suck so much ass if they actually tried nearly as hard to push talented wrestlers as they do the Roman's and Baron Corbins. Then all the talented wrestlers would actually dream of going to WWE instead of realizing that it's a total dead end.

Cody would have been released even sooner without the Stardust gimmick. He was boring as fuck as Cody Rhodes (except for that period where he broke his nose and wore the face protector, that was good).

The Stardust gimmick was WWE's hail mary to keep Cody from being a bad investment. They figured his brother worked well as Goldust, and is going to retire relatively soon, so why not have essentially a successor to Goldust.

Cody and The Buck's creative vision is the soul of AEW.

AEW without the three of them wouldn't be AEW. It would be an entirely different project with an entirely different feel that probably wouldn't suceed as much, because part of AEW's novelty is their understanding of the desires of the young adult demographic which is the goldmine AEW may tap into if they become succesful.

The problem was never the gimmick, the problem was how dog shit Stardust was booked. Cody tried his best and even gave costume ideas for it to work.

That Neville feud Amell got involved in was the only time Stardust clicked, the campy superhero stuff fit all the guys and it was great for the short time it ran. In practically anything else he felt like a jobber.
