No, we can't talk about it. You'll get us killed.

Honestly, I'd believe that as a possibility.

> I should point out that Chikara has been doing a new ARG promoting a storyline called "The Crucible," which seems to be a fight club involving a lot of masked jobbers and trainees from the Wrestle Factory fighting each other in a shoot style type of environment inside the Wrestle Factory itself.

>So far the story has been told through the vlog of one of the members who joined called "unknowncarbon" - he's been detailing his experience with the Crucible on YT: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFZMOsF-9_FdHerPEYshGiw

>Along with that have been "secretly recorded" clips of the fights through security camera footage inside the Wrestle Factory itself; with all of the videos being titled after shows from previous Chikara seasons. The fights are only 2 minutes long, and take place between masked and unmasked wrestlers while being viewed by the rest of their peers, someone who suspiciously looks like Lance Steel (Season 3 original, time-traveling KNIGHT, and one-half of Knight Eye for the Pirate Guy) in the corner, and various hooded individuals: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoSv9YABV8rdajzS3_Ep4WQ/videos

>There have also been vignettes titled "Heralds and Harbingers" recently popping up after BEYOND Wrestling's weekly show Uncharted Territory (which has been getting better when they don't book people like MJF or Kris Statlander and you should probably check out on Wednesdays,) that have been following multiple characters including unknowncarbon and a few other new initiates to the Crucible - along with hooded figures who appear to be higher-ups in the Crucible looking for a trainee to take the helm as a "harbinger."

>In the newest Heralds after Uncharted Territory #7, the face of The Whisper was revealed completely as one of the hooded figures, Preston Blathers, former CHIKARA announcer who left the position to train as a wrestler, ended up joining the Crucible, and a new person portraying Lance Steel finally participated in a round at the Crucible, winning with a sharpshooter. The female hooded figure in the video is shown more prominently and looks similar to Kate Nyx - Ophidian's wife who has hosted burlesque shows in the Wrestle Factory before sitting beside another figure with a beard who sounds exactly like Ophidian.

>At CHIKARA's Infinite Gauntlet, the main event of the show, many characters from the Crucible in their masks took to the ring as entrants and began dominating the ring, taking out a handful of wrestlers on their own and setting up a plan of loosening and removing the top rope of the ring throughout the match; this led to the entire ring full of entrants being eliminated until Ophidian, entering as #33, entered an empty ring and won the Golden Opportunity title shot without even fighting anyone else.

>It was also announced via "a secret" on the Arm & Hammer '19 show info page that there will be a Wrestle Factory graduation on May 31, so there's no doubt that something involving the Crucible may occur there.

Remember the last time Chikara did something like this, and every goddamn Chikara thread in this board had one dipshit who couldn't stop himself from trashtalking it?

I mean, it was pretentious and sucked but that guy still got on my nerves. nb

Chikara pretty much completely disappeared off the radar for me after that shutdown deal years ago. What was with that?

Was it just some Quack 'avant-garde wrestling' bullshit that backfired spectacularly, or was there a reason they needed to do it?

No one knows. People will say Quack was running out of money due to Joshimania being a flop, but there's no real proof of it. You can say it backfired spectacularly, but I don't know. The "wrestling is" gimmick brought a lot of new talent to the indie scene at a time when the bigger indie feds were signing guys to exclusive deals so NXT couldn't get them.

I've heard rumors that he was going through a divorce at the time and the shutdown was to avoid his ex-wife trying to take it in the split.

That was mainly NotEquinox's bullshit. He also said he knew for a fact that Quack was fucking Saturyne and that Quack's wife owned all the CHIKARA trademarks and other nonsense he was never able to back up with evidence. We might not ever know what led to the shutdown - hell, it could have been Quack being controversial for the sake of it - but believing NotEquinox's bullshit when he clearly has no proof and a bias against Chikara is the act of a bigger fool than NotEquinox.

I think they came out and said that the shutdown was the plan from the start, which you can kinda see if you watch the shows leading up to it. All the "Wrestling Is" shows are kind of considered a lost season. Knowing how Saturyne was for her one day in Impact, I'd say she might be on the Low-Ki/Austin Aries/Teddy Hart scale, which is why she wasn't kept around.

I feel like right now, the story should be, Bryce is going to AEW and Quack has been working for NXT more and more, and was a producer for one of the Tampa shows recently. I think we might actually see the end of CHIKARA soon.

Bryce already said he's not leaving Chikara. Quack is not going to end his vanity project.
