> The Mexico lottery will have lottery cards with the theme Mexican women wrestlers. They will have a number of the current CMLL women as well as Natalia Vazquez, who is historically considered the original pioneer of women’s wrestling in Mexico, and Irma Gonzalez, who is considered the historical biggest woman wrestling star in history

> New Japan announced a three-show U.S. tour with shows on 9/27 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, 9/28 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York and 9/29 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. No word on the level of talent that will be brought over, but it’s the first time New Japan has, on its own, run a Northeastern tour. It’s notable those are all regular ROH arenas, but they are not joint promoting with ROH

> For the 2019 Super J Cup, which takes place 8/22 in Tacoma, 8/24 in San Francisco and 8/25 in Long Beach, a poster is out that lists Jushin Liger as producer and the photos on the poster for the tournament are Will Ospreay (who has confirmed being there), El Phantasmo, Caristico, Dragon Lee, Sho and Yoh. It is believed it will be a 16 man tournament. There will also be New Japan talent working on the 8/23 Defy show at the Temple Theater in Tacoma

> MLW announced a PPV show on 11/2 from the stadium in Cicero, IL, where they sold out their third straight show on 7/6. The show will go head-to-head to a degree with one of UFC’s biggest events of the year, in Madison Square Garden. The MLW show will be 8-11 p.m. and UFC is 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. on ESPN+ PPV. The crossover is probably going to cost them a small percentage of buys that night because it’s likely to be a major UFC event out of New York, meaning more mainstream pub during the week. They are charging $19.95 for the PPV, which sounds low to me, because for a product like this, you aren’t picking up anybody at $19.95 that you wouldn’t get at $29.95

> Lavie Margolan reported that MLW is now averaging 1,166 fans over five events so far this year. During the same first six months of last year they were averaging 377 fans.

> Cody has released a children’s book, “Cody: Heart of the Mountain,” which will be released on 7/15. The book is about how everyone has unique positive attributes, including your enemies, and by working together you can overcome obstacles. It’s about Cody and other characters, the Young Bucks, Brandi, Adam Page and Kenny Omega on a camping trip with the group at first divided by mistrust and jealousy, and having to put the team together to ward off a powerful spell. Basically, it’s Cody rewriting a story that his father told him when he was eight years old and they went camping for the first time

> Regarding the Booker T story, it was Starrcast, obviously that he was announced for and that he backed out after he was being advertised due to the AEW/WWE problems. What’s notable is that Jerry Lawler is essentially in the same position and was at the last Starrcast and is scheduled for the next one as well. Booker T claimed that he thought he was doing a meet and greet at an independent show and doesn’t keep up with AEW or Starrcast, although it was Conrad Thompson, who promotes Starrcast, who booked him. In the text messages, Thompson asked him to appear at a Meet & Greet on 8/31 in Chicago from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and he agreed to do so. It’s hard to believe Booker thought it was an indie date given he was just booked by Thompson at the last Starrcast barely a month ago and it was said over and over at that Starrcast that the next Starrcast would be Labor Day weekend in Chicago.

> In the actual text Thompson didn’t mention Starrcast, but one would think that was obvious, particularly for someone who was at the last Starrcast. After Thompson started advertising him, he said that he wasn’t going to be there on social media. When Thompson then asked him what that was about, he said that the AEW and WWE war was very real and he couldn’t get in the middle and that he was very sorry. Booker T went on a diatribe on his show against our reporting of it, claiming he didn’t know it was Starrcast, that he never agreed to do an AEW show (we used the term All Out since it’s basically known as All Out weekend but when that ended up confusing people noted it was Starrcast immediately).

> Don Wright, an East Tennessee wrestler who is the younger brother of the legendary Ron Wright, saw his home in Bristol, TN, burn down on 7/4. Don, wife Sandy and their five grandchildren who they are raising were not home when the electrical fire started, which also destroyed their car. A friend started a Go Fund Me and Jonathan Good (Moxley) donated $5,000 as soon as he heard about it (I believe he later removed his name from the listing because that donation is now listed as anonymous) and when Tony Khan read that Good had done so, he matched that donation.

> Forbes listed Dwayne Johnson as No. 15 in the highest paid celebrities for 2019 at $89.4 million, making him the highest paid movie star. Taylor Swift topped the list at $185 million. Canelo Alvarez was No. 10 with all of his DAZN money at $94 million

> Stephanie McMahon and WWE Co-President Michelle Wilson are both being honored on 9/9 in New York by Cynopsis for Top Women in Sports Media. This was broken down into a number of categories. McMahon is listed as among the top women in social media. Wilson was listed among the top women in sports media technology and also among top women in sports branding. Also listed in sports branding were Jacqueline Hernandez, the President of Combate Americas, and Angela Lee, a fighter for ONE. Why Lee would be listed ahead of all the fighters in other organizations is a mystery to me

> The return of Reigns after battling leukemia was voted Best WWE moment of the year at the ESPYs. It was pretty clear that would be the winner. The fact there is such an award is a real feather in the cap of WWE, because it’s best WWE moment and not best pro wrestling moment. For MMA, it’s not Best UFC fighter, it’s best MMA fighter

> It is confirmed that both Gallows & Anderson have signed their new multi-year deals. They had turned down $500,000 per year offers for five years prior to getting a new offer

> WWE sent out a mailer to both former subscribers as well as some subscriber offering the next three months of the WWE Network for 99 cents. Obviously this is a way to artificially increase the number of subscribers for quarter three, since usually that quarter declines. The e-mail promoted that for 99 cents you get Extreme Rules, Takeover Toronto, SummerSlam and the Clash of Champions

> The WWE web site did some stuff building up Undertaker vs. Sting which set all kinds of rumors going. From those on the inside, the belief is that the company would never risk Sting taking a bump given he never had surgery on his neck. He’s a 60 year old man with spinal stenosis and the idea of him wrestling is not even broached. It’s purely a web site project as it is not a promotion for the upcoming videogame either

> When Paul Levesque was in Japan, he was scouting Sari Fujimura, 23, better known as Saree, who is one of the best women wrestlers in the world. She is currently under contract to the Diana promotion. She’s also the current champion in both the Sendai Girls and Diana promotion

> WWE is advertising Undertaker vs. McIntyre for SummerSlam on 8/11 in the Toronto market. We’re told that is typical local market advertising and that is not the actual plan right now for the show. But in pushing Undertaker so hard, that would seem to indicate he’ll be featured on the show, which makes sense. If Undertaker was only working one summer event, it would be SummerSlam, so him coming back for Extreme Rules only made sense to set the table for a big SummerSlam match. The problem is that given the Extreme Rules match, the big match being built would seem to be against either McIntyre or Shane, unless somebody new (Wyatt?) gets involved in the Extreme Rules match

> Batista did an interview where he said that he pitched Vince on having his match with HHH at Mania be a Hell in a Cell match. He noted he and HHH were both older and rusty as performers and while their star power could get the match over, he wanted more of a violent aura. Vince turned it down, feeling Hell in a Cell should be saved for the Hell in a Cell PPV

> Nikki Bella said that a program with the Iiconics vs. Bella Twins was scheduled for after the Iiconics won the belts, but she wasn’t feeling well and got a neck X-ray, and the damage showed her that she can’t wrestle anymore

> R-Truth said that it was pitched for him to show up at Maverick’s wedding where he won the title back wearing a wedding dress but Vince nixed the idea because he thought it would come across as trying too hard to be funny

> In more casualties of the Saudi Arabian government moving the date of the November show, WWE has canceled both of its Italy shows, scheduled for 11/3 and 11/4

> There are reports that Banks has been announced locally for a 7/22 house show in Tampa. When we asked about Banks returning soon, we were told it is “to be determined.” Banks and Vince talked a few months ago and the feeling was she’d be back by the end of the summer, but it was nothing official or is there an exact start date back at this moment. Banks was in Japan this past week training with the Sendai Girls promotion She did this on her own. Some speculate this is to get back into ring shape for her return. For contract reasons, if she’s going to wrestle, it has to be here, and they can freeze that deal forever, so the odds are strong she’s coming back unless she wants to retire. Her going to Japan to train indicates not looking at retirement

> Orton has been working of late with a sore and stiff neck. It’s not serious to the point it has kept him out of action. A few years back his doctor told him he would need neck surgery which would have kept him out of action for a year, but later got a second opinion from another doctor who said he didn’t need the surgery

> The first Smackdown show with Bischoff influence is expected to be the 7/16 in Worcester, MA. Bischoff and his family were moving this week to Stamford. The funny thing is that within the company and the creative team, they’ve been told nothing. Bischoff’s name has almost never come up and nobody from the outside has brought the name up and they know no more than what they’ve read

> The former podcast partner of Jerry Lawler is being accused of scamming fans. WMC TV news reported that Jason Lurie, a huge fan of Lawler, went through Glenn Moore, who had been the co-host of Lawler’s podcast until recently, and paid him $250 for original Lawler art work. He loved it so much he then paid Moore $1,500 for an oil painting of his cat, but he never got that piece of art and kept getting excuses from Moore. Lurie contacted Lawler on social media, never heard from him, sent Lawler a certified letter and later a letter from his attorney. Lawler said that he thought Moore was his friend but that Moore changed after he lost his regular job in December. He said Moore promised by make amends to everyone but has no money. Lawler said he hoped they could get everyone their money back who didn’t get anything, or if not, he’ll get them the artwork. Other fans have also complained about ordering art work or Lawler T-shirts from Moore and not getting anything. Lawler said that his attorney told him he should file a police report. Long-time Observer reader Sean Reedy, who already does a podcast with Jerry Jarrett on Tennessee wrestling, will be the new co-host of Lawler’s show

> The Authors of Pain, who worked in Saudi Arabia in the Battle Royal but haven’t worked anywhere else, were on the 7/8 house show in Glenns Falls, NY, losing to Ali & Matt Hardy. Previously they were kept strong before Akam blew out his knee

> The Iiconics were back on the Glenns Falls show after getting the weekend off because Peyton Royce had her bachelorette party. She’s getting married to Shawn Spears of AEW

> Regarding the stock price, the news of Heyman and Bischoff coming in has garnered an almost universal positive response from stock analysts who really don’t know wrestling at all, but see the idea that McMahon is working with two people who ran companies when wrestling was at its hottest as being a good thing. Of course, the business itself, particularly the fans and talent, are so completely different from what they were 20 years ago, or even three years ago, that it’s ridiculous. It’s that difference that has led to nobody being able to fully grasp a fan base which has a variety of tastes and a major company that has been unable to create new stars.

> Marci Ryvicker, managing director of Wolfe Research, which covers the company, told Yahoo that investors’ concerns about WWE creative are reflected in the stock’s performance of late. “You're actually seeing those fears in the stock price. I do think that the stock in the company kind of suffered from a lack of clear communication ...There hasn't felt like there's real visibility on how to build to their guidance for the year. I think that they sort of mishandled how they provided expectations to the Street, which causes uncertainty around the international deals." But, obviously, the company, through late 2024, is guaranteed to be ridiculously profitable and successful, and trying to predict anything in a rapidly changing technological environment and with a company struggling and frankly, would be unsuccessful at this level of popularity without the guaranteed TV money, is an impossible task. But they are safe now. “We think the fundamentals are intact. We think that the fourth quarter is going to be a significant positive catalyst. We will have all of the international content deals signed. For the most part, the company plans to update the Street on the financial impact of those agreements, not just on 2020 but on the subsequent years you're going to have WWE on both Fox and at NBC Universal.

> AB1 in France and AB Xplore in Belgium will now be airing Raw and Smackdown almost live, but have also announced they will no longer be carrying the PPV shows effective immediately. They had been airing the PPVs live as television specials in both markets. The WWE made the call, not the stations, as a way to try and increase subscriptions from those two markets since getting a network number boost is a very high priority right now. Both stations have also added airing Raw and Smackdown on a 15 minute delay with the English commentary. The shows had aired in prime time (Raw edited to two hours) on Wednesday and Thursday nights with French language commentary. Those airings will continue

> Quibi will be doing a women’s wrestling series, a reality show as part of their “Fight Like a Girl” using WWE stars and working in conjunction with WWE Studios. In each episode, Stephanie McMahon will pair a WWE star with a young woman struggling with personal issues that are holding her back. The wrestlers will draw from their own life experiences to help the women overcome their issues and become tougher, stronger and healthier. The shows are all being shot at the Performance Center and will be built around people making stunning transformations and changing their lives forever

> WWE stock closed at press time at $73.22 per share giving the company a $5.754 billion market value

> The top ten most-watched shows on the WWE Network over the past week, and this is updated through 7/10, were: 1. NXT on 7/10; 2. WWE 24: Batista; 3. NXT U.K. on 7/10; 4. 205 Live on 7/9; 5. Stomping Grounds; 6. NXT on 7/3; 7. WrestleMania 2019; 8. NXT U.K. on 7/3; 9. Super Showdown; 10. Ride Along with Kay, Royce, Hawkins and Ryder

> Vince McMahon was not at Smackdown in Manchester, NH, on Tuesday but he was on the phone constantly and he reviewed the show on the phone with people one hour before it started. Paul Levesque worked the Gorilla position. Bruce Prichard presented the show to the other producers. He started out with a rah rah speech which we were told came across very transparent. Ryan Ward is still the lead writer of Smackdown and will remain the lead writer unless Eric Bischoff tries to make a change, and most likely that will depend on whether Vince would allow it even if he wanted to. Prichard will be the one who acclimates Bischoff and is believed to be the person who pushed hardest for Bischoff. There was talk of people asking why Bischoff wasn’t at least at the show to watch how things are done before he starts full-time, and the same was said last week. His deal was to move in this week and start with the 7/16 show. It’s been noted to us that every week he’s not there puts him another week behind and the battles necessary to be the catalyst of change and improvement are going to take a long time

> At press time, the early estimates of Slammiversary PPV buys is 1,500. The number is just about identical with that of ROH’s Best in the World show (currently estimated at 1,400 at press time) on 6/28. Counting in buys over the last week for the ROH show, the numbers between the two are so close that in one major cable conglomerate, there were actually only six buys separating the two shows.

> The big difference is most of the ROH viewership is on its subscription streaming service so you get a better price point, while Impact is all either television PPV or Fite TV, both at the same price, meaning the bulk of viewership would be television PPV.

> For a comparison, last year’s Slammiversary was estimated at 1,500 buys, Rebellion at 2,000 and Homecoming at 3,100.

> Of those 1,500 buys, 8.75 percent purchased Stomping Grounds, 30.00 percent purchased Double or Nothing, 7.5 percent purchased ROH’s Best in the World and 6.3 percent purchased UFC 235.

does Dave know what the subscriber count for HonorClub is?

> last year’s Slammiversary was estimated at 1,500 buys, Rebellion at 2,000 and Homecoming at 3,100.
>gets almost unanimous praise for its weekly TV show
>PPV numbers drop as 2019 goes on
couple of things to take away: Homecoming was probably helped by not having as much PPV competition in January. And the LAX vs Lucha Bros match probably was the genuine strongest headlining draw of all the recent impact PPVs.

Rebellion probably hurt a little bit by its two main events being rematches of Homecoming's main events. Slammiversary 2019 hurt by a more crowded PPV schedule around WWE, AEW and ROH PLUS Rebellion was only 2 months ago. Plus, Brian Cage just isn't the same type of headlining attraction.

Nah I understand why wrestlers tend to do this - there's still this need to sell how "real" wrestling is, so you hear shit about how "it's not ballet", "you can't fake gravity", stuff that makes wrestlers sound tough.

But it backfired here and the interviewer was quite rightly horrified at how shitty wrestling is.

Bayley trying to walk it back at the end saying there's positives to driving 5 hours between shows was so tragic, especially when the interviewer looked concerned and said "...Okay then"

It's also depressing how the interviewer was like "but you're A SUPERSTAR!"

The mask is slipping

http://www.oswegocountynewsnow.com/news/marc-copani-named-new-fjhs-principal/article_79d1410e-a327-11e9-b5bf-2f306489e2ce.html

>Effective July 1, Marc Copani transitioned from his assistant principalship at G. Ray Bodley High School to the new principal at Fulton Junior High School (FJHS), where he said he is thrilled to be able to help increase successful pathways to graduation for Fulton’s middle school students.

>"From my vantage point, I’ve been able to see what many of our young men and women are lacking as they enter ninth-grade,” Copani said. “I’m eager to get started with my faculty and staff so we can work together to prepare junior high students for the transition to the high school, which ultimately will help prepare students for life after school.”

>Copani has worked in the Fulton City School District since July 2015, and all his time up until now has been spent at GRB.

>Prior to officially being in the FJHS principal role, Copani visited incoming seventh-graders at their respective elementary schools so the students could become more familiar with seeing him around. Having had the chance to observe the students in their elementary environment and answer any middle-school related questions was the best introduction, he said.

>As the 2019-2020 school year is underway, Copani said he is excited for the challenge that comes with his new position and “having a building of my own.”

>“It’s going to be a lot of work, but I can’t wait to be able to work with my staff to motivate students to be the best version of themselves,” Copani said. “I would like to create an environment that not only focuses on learning at high levels, but also on developing the social skills that allow young men and women to be successful in the future.”

>Copani obtained his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego in adolescent education social studies and his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. Through the college’s Educational Leadership Program, he also earned a certificate of advanced studies.

>When not busy at school, Copani said he has enjoyed time with his blended family, with his girlfriend of the last three years. Together, they have four children and spend free time supporting them in various sporting events and activities. Copani also enjoys the movies, running and lifting weights. The former WWE professional wrestler also has spent time in GRB’s weight room with the wrestling team.

>He said he will look forward to seeing the incoming seventh-graders again during a summer welcome picnic and he will schedule a meet-and-greet for all FJHS parents.

Good for Hassan finding success outside of WWE.

Ironically, WWE could justify its relationship with Saudi Arabia (at least on the surface,) if they came forth with the idea that the money goes to ensure their Superstars have health insurance, safe transport to every show, and their food/maintenance needs are taken care of.

They've gotten away with it for decades, but it will come back around to them if they expect to stay in the mainstream. Especially if AEW blows up and starts doing all those things.

1) Why? Talent is not a requisite for WWE women. I'd rather he got Saki Akai for the eye candy and leave the talent for Japan.

2) Why? The women have been severely curtailed in recent months. I can't remember the last time I saw Mandy Rose on TV.

>Former ECW World Tag Team Champion New Jack, one of the most outspoken and controversial personalities of the 1990s and beyond, will be releasing an official memoir this November, titled New Jack: Memoir of a Pro Wrestling Extremist.

>Promotional material for the book notes:

>You may have cheered for New Jack. You may have booed him out of the building. You may have even feared him at times. But until now, you've never really known The Most Dangerous Man in Wrestling.

>For the first time, the man born Jerome Young opens up about how he became one of the stars who enabled Extreme Championship Wrestling to make a permanent mark on the professional landscape. His crazed dives off balconies and scaffolds; his bloody, weapon-filled mat wars that trampled the line between reality and entertainment--this memoir reveals the perspective of the man at the center of them all and includes new disclosures about the infamous incidents with Mass Transit, Gypsy Joe, and the stabbing of a fellow wrestler in Florida. Beyond the gimmicks that united white supremacists and the NAACP against him and his fellow performers, New Jack candidly discusses the violence in his youth that nearly led him to a career in crime, his past as a bounty hunter, a near-fatal drug addiction, the last months of ECW, and his place in wrestling history.

>The book is co-written by Jason Norman, who has released several books on the horror genre and will feature a foreword from The Blue Meanie.

>New Jack: Memoir of a Pro Wrestling Extremist.will be officially released on 11/28.

>According to Brad Shepard of Pro Sports Extra, it was Heyman’s decision to have Balor lose the Intercontinental Championship. Balor’s character is going in a new direction as their are plans for him to join The Club on Raw.
>Shepard also claims that Heyman got upset with Balor and Nakamura wrestling on Extreme Rules Kickoff instead of the pay-per-view.

>It should be noted that Mike Johnson of PWInsider and Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet are disputing the rumor of Heyman being upset over the Intercontinental Championship Match taking place on Extreme Rules Kickoff. According to Johnson, some WWE talent brought the rumor to Heyman’s attention backstage during Extreme Rules and joked about with him.

>Shepard responded to both Johnson and Satin with the following:
>Mike Johnson (who thought John Cena was going to be a special guest referee in the Baron Corbin versus Kurt Angle WM match) and his sources had no idea what was going on last night backstage, yet they were conveniently able to tell him this. Can you say worked?
>All of these reputable sources backstage and yet you don’t have a clue about what’s going on tonight.

Shepard and Stephen Carrier are liars and shysters and conmen of the highest order. In it for social media "notoriety" and whatever few bucks they can scrape up from the dumb marks. Don't post any shit from their network of sites on here.

Totally wouldn't. Especially if she'd come in as anything other than Sakisama since by herelf she's boring as shit but plays the aloof, haughty bitch character very well.
