pretty sure credit for this goes to Mr Toad
>this Mega has 52 Santo films on it, all are subbed, with Santo in the Wax Museum and Santo vs. the Vampire Women also being dual audio with English dub tracks.
>Of note, I am missing Santo contra laMDKnegra (Santo vs. Black Magic, 1972) and Blue Demon contra el poder satánico (Blue Demon vs. Satanic Power, 1964) in subbed form. I am also missing the English dubs that were produced for Santo contra los zombis (Santo vs. the Zombies, 1961) a.k.a. Invasion of the Zombies and Santo contra el doctor Muerte (Santo vs. Dr. Death, 1973) a.k.a. Santo Strikes Again, a.k.a. The Masked Man Strikes Again. If anyone has these or any leads I would greatly appreciate it.
>I also made another mega with a few other miscellaneous Lucha movies.
>In here is:
>Santo in 'The Vampire and the Sex' (1969) (Santo en el Vampiro y el sexo; English Subtitles), which is just a re-editing of Santo en el tesoro de Drácula (Santo in "The Treasure of Dracula", 1968) with porn scenes in it. On that note, I am also missing the other porn edited Santo film, The Lepers and Sex, a re-editing of Santo contra los jinetes del terror (Santo vs. the Terror Riders, 1970) .
>Starfighters (Luchadores de las Estrellas) (1992) - a modern movie featuring a fictional masked Luchadora. Many real luchadores in it, like Satanico, Blue Demon Jr, Volador, Misterioso.
> Captain America and Santo vs. Spider-Man (1973) (Three Giant Men-3 Dev Adam) - Unlicensed Turkish film where Santo (not played by the real one) and Captain America fight a villainous Spider-Man.
> Wrestlemaniac (El Mascarado Massacre) (2006) - An English slasher movie where Rey Misterio Sr. plays a masked wrestler who kills horny teenagers.

AAA is great every time I have time to tune in though I could understand if people got tired of the Mercenarios clusterfucks after a while.
Just saw the Demon vs. Wagner vs. Parka episode, what else has been happening since Triplemania other that Mercenarios running wild I guess?

Jeff Jarrett's still been showing up despite supposedly being with WWE, to the point that he was on the same show as Cody and the Bucks.
Remember how Triplemania set up for LA Park vs Dr Wagner jr? Yeah nah we have always been setting up for Wagner vs Blue Demon jr, you're clearly mistaken. So that's now where they're heading for Triplemania as a hair vs mask. spoilers from the last couple of twitch shows, not sure how much has been aired on youtube
Nino Hamburgesa and Big Mami haven't been doing so good as a couple with drama around him. OGTs dressed up like superheroes and looked very silly. Young Bucks took the tag belts from Lucha Bros with the crowd giving an impressive lack of fucks for a Mexican crowd. Killer Kross still kills a bunch of guys
Also the English commentary has been surprisingly not shit last two shows.

You'd think Mistico and Cibernetico would have had some during the peak of their 00's popularity.

there's a couple with Fantasma jr, which wiki says is the cousin of Hijo Del Fantasma, they seem to be tongue-in-cheek, since Fantasma sr makes an appearance as a divine vision from the heavens despite still being alive

I wouldn't mind if the LU belts end up lurking in the shadows of pro wrestling independent of the actual promotion's existence or lack thereof, like the old NWA belts

>It appears Lucha Underground’s tough year is about to get even tougher. Only a month after El Rey Network and Baba-G Productions (LU’s network and production company respectively) settled a class action lawsuit with El Hijo del Fantasma, Ivelisse, Joey Ryan and Kobra Moon (Thunder Rosa), another trip to court seems in the works.

>Lucha Central has learned that LU performers Matanza Cueto (Ring of Honor star Jeff Cobb), Famous B and XO Lishus (All Elite Wrestling’s Sonny Kiss) have all sought legal representation in order to get their release from the promotion.

>The biggest shock of these names is Cobb, mostly because we’ve all assumed that Cobb received his release from Lucha Underground after season four, when his character was killed off in the Ultima Lucha finale. Despite that, and signing a one year deal with Ring of Honor this past fall, sources tell Lucha Central that LU higher ups have continued to insist he is under contract with them, and have even gone as far to try and block him from working Ring of Honor.

>There is no word on the situations regarding Famous B or Sonny Kiss, who is scheduled to debut for AEW at Double or Nothing as part of the Over Budget Battle Royal. Though it’s possible Lucha Underground may try to block him from working with AEW following the show, Kiss’ appearance at Double or Nothing doesn’t seem to be in jeopardy.

>Lucha Central can also confirm that, while he hasn’t officially sought legal representation at this time, Willie Mack will likely be joining these three in trying to get out of his LU contract as well. Speculation about Mack’s future has been rampant after he dropped the NWA National Championship to Colt Cabana this past Saturday at NWA’s Crockett Cup and posted a cryptic tweet about having to pick a side.

>Update: So Cal Uncensored has revealed on Twitter that Lucha Underground (through Dorian Roldan) has threatened to send a Cease and Desist to both Ring of Honor and the NWA due to them using Willie Mack at recent events, indicating further that Mack is likely to try and get his release alongside Cobb, Kiss and Famous B.

Fuckboi Dorian at it again. I'm an unapologetic LU fanboy but I recognized him as a cancer a long time ago.

Also how the fuck could you justify keeping Cobb from working as a completely different persona, his real fucking name, when you killed off his character? Unreal. These bastards have sabotaged such a fun show with such promise.

I want LU back more than anything in wrestling, but with the people in charge, maybe it's better if it stays dead.

I talk about this story all the time on here, but I went to the LU panel at NYCC in 2016.

He's a smug cunt of a man and it just comes through in person. I haven't watched it in years but so many things were talked about and the future seemed so bright and it just burnt out.

If anyone wants to see it, here it is:

Also, a reminder that Dorian's LLC was put in charge of licensing and all that happened on that front is the LU store some shirts on Walmart's and Hot Topic's sites.

No figures, games (even a shitty mobile game), not even goddamn Pop Vinyls. And the official DVD's are trash and there's no Blu-Rays and this show would've been perfect for the deluxe box set treatment. Throw in a few dark matches, behind the scenes vignettes, etc.

It's just so fucking disappointing. I wish another Tony Khan would come along and save this shit and kick Dorian to the curb.

>Jeff Cobb will be released from his Lucha Underground contract soon, according to Lucha Central.

>Cobb, Famous B and Sonny Kiss (XO Lishus) were all seeking legal representation earlier this week to secure their release from their LUG contracts. Willie Mack was also rumored to be seeking legal representation after Lucha Underground blocked him from taking bookings with the NWA and Ring of Honor. An agreement has been reached that will see Cobb get his release, but it hasn't been signed by all parties as of today, according to the report. Lucha Central added that once Cobb's release is official, the releases for Famous B and Kiss should follow.

>Cobb, who came to Lucha Underground as Matanza Cueto in 2015, reportedly believed that he was already free from his Lucha Underground contract. He was apparently written off TV at Ultima Lucha IV and then indicated he had been released after signing a contract with ROH. Lucha Central reported that certain Lucha Underground officials had tried to block Cobb from working for ROH, insisting he was still signed.

>Cobb currently holds the ROH World Television Title, the New Japan Pro Wrestling NEVER Openweight Title and the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Title. Cobb will likely be with ROH for the foreseeable future.

>Lucha Underground recently saw four other talents take extra measures to get out of their contracts - Joey Ryan, Ivelisse Velez, El Hijo del Fantasma and Kobra Moon (Thunder Rosa).

Speaking of Dorian Roldan, here's an interview he just did - https://superluchas.com/entrevista-con-dorian-roldan-lucha-libre-aaa-de-cara-al-futuro/. If you don't want to read that, here's a summary of it from cubsfan:

>SuperLuchas has a wide-reaching interview with Dorian Roldan, from the TV Azteca offices. That location, and recent SuperLuchas articles reporting much lower ratings that it seemed AAA & TV Azteca were reporting suggested it be an interview focusing on that subject. It turns out those numbers really never directly come up, though a lot of other things about AAA’s TV. This is one where you’re better reading it for yourself; I’m going to summarize what I can here. The most interesting part to me was the extended history of AAA’s TV deals. Let me try to condense it into a timeline:

  • 1992: Antonio Pena & Televisa start a lucha libre promotion. They initially want to call it OILL (Oraganizacion Internacional de Lucha Libre) but eventually decide to use “Asistencia, Asesoria, Administracion de Espectaculos”, a name Televisa had used for other projects. Televisa pays Pena for the TV rights but gets to sell sponsorships. Televisa also takes care of production.
  • 1995: Mexico economy craters and Televisa wants to get out of AAA. Pena creates Promociones Antonio Pena as a separate entity and it buys full control of AAA. Somewhere in here, Televisa stops paying Pena rights for the TV but gives Pena the power to sell sponsorship rights (so he’s the one making the money off the Corona logo at this point.)
  • 2000-ish: Televisa tells AAA that they’re no longer paying for production and it is up to AAA to pay for it. AAA rents a production unit from MVS.
  • 2002: AAA decides to stop renting production and buy their own in-house production equipment. Televisa’s only role at this point is to air the show, and they dictate how long that show will be. (CMLL also had to pay for production by this point.)
  • 2008: WWE comes to Televisa and TV Azteca. Things go really well for a while.
  • 2013: things are going less well for WWE & Televisa. The ratings have tanked and Televisa decides to get rid of wrestling from their broadcast channels. All wrestling, which means AAA & CMLL need to go too, though they could continue on the TDN cable station. This decision is made around September of the year. Dorian Roldan meets with Televisa executives, tells them he’s got sponsorships thru the end of the year dependent on AAA being on broadcast TV and asks for a reprieve until December to figure something out.
  • 2013-2016: Televisa allows AAA to buy TV time to keep their slot. Roldan says AAA was making the most money at this point by selling sponsorships for broadcast TV, so it made sense to do what they had to keep that air time. Roldan says CMLL made at least one attempt to get back on Televisa, only to find out they would be required to pay for TV time as well and pass.
  • 2017: AAA wants to get on Univision (US), but Roldan is not confident AAA looked good enough to get picked up because their production unit is outdated. AAA decides to not only to pay Televisa for TV time but also pay them to produce the AAA show. AAA’s deal with Univision does not get done and they see no improvement in Mexico.
  • 2018: AAA has done good numbers with their TripleMania specials for two years. This seems like a good thing. Televisa apparently is not impressed. They raise the rate they’re charging AAA for TV time. Roldan talks to TV Azteca, who with they share some prominent sponsors and decides to make the move.
  • 2019: AAA debuts on TV Azteca. TV Azteca is paying AAA a rights fee. Televisa reacts and brings back CMLL (and is believed to be paying them a rights fee.)

>There’s a lot of other big pictures thoughts in here. Dorian Roldan feels WWE has made Mexico and Latin America a low priority and doesn’t see them as a big threat domestically to AAA. He welcomes the idea of WWE trying a NXT Mexico but does not think they’d do well, that there’s not a fan base big enough to support them without WWE being on strong broadcast TV and that an NXT Mexico show wouldn’t get that TV deal either. Roldan sees the wrestling fans of Mexico split three ways:

  • 5% are the hardcores who follow everything super closely, know the AEW guys and NJPW.
  • 45% know the difference between AAA & CMLL but aren’t more knowledgable than that.
  • 50% have so little knowledge that go to an Arena Mexico show thinking they’re seeing AAA

>Dorian Roldan’s big goal still is the United States, feeling there’s just so much money to be made there (and holding up the Mexican National Team playing in the US as proof.) He also feels like, by going after the Hispanic market, he won’t be as directly competing with WWE as AEW might be. The Madison Square Garden show will determine how strong they go in that path forward. AAA was not expecting to sell out like AEW show, believing the Hispanic market isn’t going to buy tickets that far in advance, but feels like they’ve done well given how little noise they’ve made so far. AAA plans on making a lot more noise.

>The thing that’s going to get the most noise from this interview is Dorian Roldan talking about the meetings he’s had with various other heads of companies. Roldan mentions speaking with Joe Koff (Ring of Honor), Ed Norholm (Impact Wrestling) and Billy Corgan (National Wrestling Alliance) over WrestleMania weekend. Roldan pushes the idea that even though they’re competitors, they should be building bridges to work together. “You need a talent, I have another talent signed with Lucha Underground, what are we fighting for?” In Roldan’s telling of it, he got Willie Mack to appear for the NWA and the Lucha Brothers to appear for AEW. That’s a completely opposite version of the Mack/NWA story from what’s been told by Mack and other people involved, where AAA/LU/Roldan was threatening legal action if the NWA (& ROH) continued to use Willie Mack. I tend to believe Mack’s side of this story and wonder what pieces are missing from Roldan’s side.

>There’s a lot more here – you can read yourself about Roldan’s thoughts about an AAA/CMLL show, about wrestling in Monterrey (“I do not know a place in the world where promoters fright mone – there they strive to see who loses the most money”) and about egos in general.

>WrestlingInc posted an interview with Dorian Roldan, mostly about the AAA/MSG show, which hasn’t been talked about since the tickets went on sale three weeks ago. The article transcribes most of it, the interview on the podcast itself starts at 59:00. For our purposes, the big news is the show is not planned to stream on Twitch. Roldan says it wasn’t part of the package of shows for Twitch. It doesn’t sound as though Twitch won’t take it, but that they think they have a better ability to put in on TV (in Mexico & the US) if it’s not on Twitch.

>Dorian is open to working with talent from other promotions for talent on their show but none are specifically confirmed at being part of this card at this point. They’re also open to working with “people who used to be in AAA before and are really important to the Mexican fans.” Johnny Mundo technically fits that category, but it also sure sounds like the LA Park signal. Roldan says the card will have something for every type of fan and they’ve partnered with radio stations to promote those shows. Roldan also attended the NJPW/ROH show at MSG with other AAA people to get an idea of the production required.

>AAA is still set at running other shows (and slow ticket sales for MSG don’t come up at all here.) A second show is planned to be announced soon. That’s probably the Los Angeles one that was previously reported. AAA is hoping to run 10 shows in the US next summer, which is hard to believe. Roldan gives credit to the company they’re with on this, Oak View Group, for setting up deals with venus and sponsors and even TV.

Sucks it's not gong to be on Twitch, would have been cool if it were.

makes sense that its not on Twitch, AAA at MSG, like Triplemania, is PPV worthy.

It was noted at the press conference back in April when they announced the show that Ed Nordholm was there. I wonder if Impact/Anthem would help with producing it as a PPV in exchange for getting talent on the show/getting it co-streamed on Impact Plus or something.

>Impact Wrestling’s Scarlett Bordeaux got groped by a fan who was sitting at ringside yesterday during the AAA Conquista Total Gira 2019 live event which took place from Plaza de Toros in Cancun, Mexico. The show aired live on Twitch.

>Bordeaux was in a six-woman tag match along with Lady Shani and Taya Valkyrie as they took on Chik Tormenta, La Hiedra and Tessa Blanchard. At one point during the match, the action spilled to the outside and next to the fans. As Bordeaux was getting back up on her feet, a fan at ringside grabbed her from behind, pulled her towards him and began touching her inappropriately. Grope is a bit of an extreme term for this. Touching the female talent is probably always a bad idea though.

TripleMania card is out
Little Fiji - Fri, 05 Jul 2019 10:23:54 EST jCH8J3Fu No.6261915 Reply
>Like every other AAA TV taping with a listed start time of 8 pm, it will stream live in English & Spanish on Twitch. It will also air live on Space (as it did last year) and at least part of it will air live on TV Azteca.

>As I wrote yesterday, AAA’s choice for TripleMania was either to tell a lot of people they’re not going to have a spot or to make a lot of nonsensical multiman person matches to squeeze everyone in. AAA – and most every other wrestling promotion on the planet – is going to choose the “more people” option. AAA’s also a promotion that has decided the best way to build up the biggest show of the year is at press conferences and those press conferences operate with a separate series of storylines. What happens on AAA TV matters, it just doesn’t matter all that much for TripleMania. It’s been this way for years now and it’s been successful enough that it won’t be changing any time soon.

>Whenever people with AAA said things like “Aerostar vs Monster Clown might happen at TripleMania!”, they were lying, even if they didn’t realize they were doing it at that time. This kind of lineup is what TripleMania is and will be for the foreseeable future. This can be an immensely frustrating part of following AAA but is as part of it as the heel referee spots. For the people who just come in to AAA once a year, they want a strange Mexican variety wrestling show and they are always getting that show.

>That’s where my expectations were coming into this card: this would be using AAA talent but in ways that may not match up with anything. I think it’s a good card all considered. I like the trios match at Fyter Fest and definitely, don’t have a problem seeing it again in front of a Mexican audience. The fifth match is a freak show match that actually might be good; I trust Taurus, Texano and what sure sounded like Killer Kross to be able to go along with whatever the tecnicos want to do. It’s going to be weird but it seems like it should work and I have more belief in the Cain Velazquez match working than I did initially.

>The women’s match getting a TLC stipulation is completely random. AAA always has a gimmick attached to a match for no particular reason and this is that. It is also a reminder that we shouldn’t have cared all that much about Keyra winning the title at Verano de Escandalo. It is nice for her to get to be champion but she’s not going to anything meaningful with it before this match, and the TripleMania is always going to end up in a multi-women match where who comes in with the belt doesn’t have much of an advantage. The 3-way trios match would be a better quality match with just two teams in and the mixed tag story would be better with just the important people, but adding people onto matches is what TripleMania is. At some point, everyone but Mami, Maravilla, and Hamburguesa will be out on the floor and they’ll have their moment anyway.

>Rey Escorpion, Killer Kross, and Daga are the three names that jumped out to me as people missing from this show. Daga’s got a title match with Drago on Saturday that I was sure he was winning; now I’m not so sure he’s really in AAA’s plans. Rey Escorpion’s heroic scheme to work his way into an apuesta feud with Psycho Clown seems to be delayed. Kross has been famously been left off the TripleMania card the last two years and my strong presumption is he came back to AAA again under the impression he would definitely get something this year. I can’t believe they’d do it again. All three guys could theoretically be the mystery man teaming with Texano and Taurus but that would still mean two of them are in Copa TripleMania or left off entirely. Alberto el Patron might also be the mystery man if not for his recent AAA issues. There’s no indication of when AAA might reveal that name; you’d think it would happen at an upcoming TV event but again this show is disconnected from TV.

>I didn’t want to see Pagano/Chessman and I didn’t want to see Faby/Tirantes and I don’t have to see again. The lack of Pagano/extreme match on the show is probably the most surprising match decision, as AAA has steadfastly used those on big shows a way to make themselves distinct from WWE & CMLL. Perhaps some elements from that will come up in the Copa TripleMania.

>Fenix will officially go one full AAA calendar year without defending the AAA megachampionship in AAA. (He did defend it in GALLI, I was there.) It feels like there should be a Mega title defense on this show, but it also doesn’t matter. The title is devoid of meaning and has been even since before Fenix had it. A single TripleMania title match isn’t going to fix that, because it didn’t fix it last year. It makes more sense to throw Fenix in the best match you can get a finish out of. Omega/Fenix might have been more interesting but I don’t think AAA or AEW can get to a good finish out of that right now. A rematch of the trios match will be good, though makes me wonder what exactly was booked for this spot before Verano de Escandalo.

>AAA started this year with a press conference announcing the Demon/Wagner match, and saying TripleMania would have eight matches. Those would be six big main events, a Copa Triplemania, and Llave a la Gloria match. A lot can happen between January and July. I was still waiting for them to mention the Llave a la Gloria match as an aside when the press conference ended; that’s how they handled it last year.
Little Fiji - Fri, 05 Jul 2019 10:24:50 EST jCH8J3Fu No.6261916 Reply
>Anyone who subscribes to Twitch starting July 4th gets TripleMania included. If you can afford to throw AAA $5 a month, I think you’re going to want to watch that show without commercial interruptions. If you’re an American with holiday plans tonight, you could watch this show on-demand later, get the next two AAA shows and TripleMania for one price.

>think the best card change idea I saw was Dylan from Lucha Talk suggesting just swapping Laredo Kid and Vikingo, which give the trios match AEW wanted to do but couldn’t and make it not a straight rematch of a few weeks ago. It’d be a waste for Laredo Kid to be dropped into a match about the exoticos but it is also a waste to have the six other guys in there. I do wonder if AAA will end up airing the Fyter Fest match, as they did the Double or Nothing this past week.

>I’m still wondering on the mystery guy. If it was meant to be Daga or Rey Escorpion, there would be no mystery about it. I’d say the same thing about Kross, though I could see AAA believing they needed to do (and could do) some big angle to heat him up and move him on from Puma King first. The easiest answer is probably simply “AAA hasn’t decided yet” and thinking about this is a bad use of time. I am all about bad uses of time and my mind has drifted to “you know, Jack Swagger/Jake Strong has a connection here and has MMA experience, that’d be something AAA would totally do” and “San Luis Potosi is Alberto’s hometown and even though he’s not on good terms with AAA that can change quick.” Please send help.

>Dorian Roldan noted that August 3rd was Joaquin Roldan’s birthday and says that is why they picked the date this year.

>Psycho Clown explained that he originally wanted to fight Cain Velazquez, then got to know him and decided he’s a great person. Psycho says Velazquez has come to Mexico City to train and he’s going to San Jose to train and it seems like a good idea to be a team.

>People who have not blocked last year’s TripleMania out of their mind may remember Vampiro and Konnan set up a match where the loser had to leave AAA. That match isn’t happening at TripleMania. It doesn’t need to. Vampiro didn’t lose a match but remains out of AAA. Either it happened on good terms or there’s still a connection there because Vampiro hasn’t said a single bad word about AAA, but he’s off doing his own thing. There’s really not been a mention of Konnan wrestling again any time soon, though I suspect that may change when he returns to MLW this weekend. Konnan said he’d like to do a retirement tour next year while admitting he’s been saying this for the last two years.

July 19 Viernes Espectacular De Arena Mexico is going to be FUCKING LIT

>Stop 1 on the Jushin Thunder Lyger Mexico retirement tour is a trios match on 07/18, teaming with Mistico and Valiente against Caristico, Titan and Bandido.

>CMLL has announced that Jushin Liger’s final opponents for the promotion on 7/19 will be Negro Casas, Ultimo Guerrero and Caristico in a fatal four-way match. Only two men are allowed in the ring at once and competitors must tag in and out to enter and exit.

>On today’s CMLL Informa program, which is the promotion’s weekly news talk show which airs every Wednesday around 4pm EST, the promotion announced that LA Park will be returning to the July 19th show which is a farewell show featuring the final CMLL appearance of the legendary Jushin Thunder Liger. Park won’t be coming alone, however, as he will be joined by his sons, El Hijo de LA Park, and LA Park Jr., to take on Bestia del Ring, Mistico and his longtime rival, RUSH, which will no doubt continue the bitter feud between these two men.

following up here's a copypasta
>JCR interviewed Sofia Alonso before CMLL Informa.
>JCR, like Atlantis, mentioned that all the CMLL luchadores when they went to the ring to do the moment of applause thought they were doing it again for Perro Aguayo. They did not know Paco Alonso had passed away.
>Sofia Alonso said on Friday night (July 5th), her father (Paco Alonso) fainted. Her mom called an ambulance. He suffered cardiac respiratory arrest while being taken to the hospital. He passed away early Saturday.
>Sofia & her mom made the decision that since her dad lived a private life, that they would handle the news of his passing & other proceedings in private only telling family & close friends.
>They kept the news quiet of Paco Alonso's passing for 24 hours before letting everyone know during the Sunday Arena Mexico show.
>Sofia Alonso announces that she will now be the CMLL Director and be in charge of the promotion. She said this was not how she wanted to take over, worst possible way and she gained this position by losing someone she truly loved, her father.
>JCR asked Sofia Alonso now that she is in charge what are the plans for CMLL moving forward. She wants to consolidate and have more solidarity throughout all the departments within CMLL. She wants to keep all the good aspects of CMLL.
>Sofia said that her father, Paco Alonso, left them all a great responsibility and they all must do their best to uphold that.
>Sofia Alonso said her plan isn't to start some "new era" or change radically. She wants to conserve what her father did and the good things that are done in CMLL. Little by little they will develop in areas where there might be opportunities down the road. #CMLL

>Sofia Alonso wants to continue to conserve the concept of lucha libre and the tradition. She said CMLL is a promotion built around families, not just the Lutteroths.

>Sofia Alonso also said that being that she is from a different generation to her father, there will likely be some changes because she's likely to see opportunities that maybe her father didn't see. She doesn't expect it to be drastic changes.

>Sofia Alonso also said she grew up in lucha libre and would watch it every weekend. She said she doesn't have to be at lucha shows all the time, but she is because she adores lucha libre.

>Sofia Alonso said that she is very passionate about her job and doesn't deny that she is there because she is part of the Lutteroth family. She made the decision to take charge of the promotion, "take the bull by the horns". She could easily just stay home & do nothing.

>JCR asked Sofia Alonso what is something her father left her and she said he taught her to respect those who work for CMLL.

>Sofia Alonso's message to CMLL's roster is that her door will always be open to them. They are her top priority and they are the reason that "everyone gets to eat" in CMLL.

>Sofia Alonso said that Fray Tormenta will be the priest for the public mass on Friday.

>Sofia Alonso closes her interview letting everyone in #CMLL and fans know that this CMLL will evolve and they are going up. Down is not an option. She lost a lot already and failure is not an option.

>UPDATE: JCR said that CMLL luchadores were told backstage before they went to the ring for the ceremony about Paco Alonso passing away.

I mean pretty much all of it was the typical corporate stuff. Watching the interview I got the impression that she was just trying to appeal to everybody in the company both old (mostly old) and young. Nothing wrong with that really it's what you'd expect so we'll see if anything changes at all in the future.

It's really going to be interesting if she *does* decide to change anything that affects the old/useless people both in the ring and backstage (which I honestly doubt). Being such a young woman in charge of a promotion like CMLL really can't be that easy when it comes to all the politics there but she might be alright since she's part of the family after all so who knows.

Interesting times for sure.

Already been posted in the non-WWE major promotions general but I think ROH doing a Global Wars tour with CMLL this year is a good idea - https://www.rohwrestling.com/news/roh-and-cmll-join-forces-global-wars-espectacular

With Sofia Alonso wanting to forge closer ties with ROH, hopefully we'll see the same sort of effect with CMLL becoming more popular in the US as NJPW had 5 years ago after their first tour with ROH.

>Not having anything to do with dead or not but Tubi has really grown into a rather potentially significant “ancillary revenue” stream for many content owners. It’s not all “dead”’content. So, while it may be dead - the Tubi deal doesn’t signal it. Does signal no Netflix renewal.

the AAA New York & Los Angeles don’t look like they’re happening
>Let’s go over what we know:

>AAA sold few tickets to the New York & Los Angeles shows, so few that they turned off the ability to see a seat map so no fan could see a visual representation of unsold tickets in one space. (Though the ticket selection screen still shows no many more tickets have moved.)
>one source told me the MSG show had sold much less than 1,000 tickets as of mid-July.
>No matches have been announced for either show.
>AAA had been posting canned Tweets regularly (and probably automatically) to hype these shows. Those have vanished.
>AAA hasn’t tweeted the word “MSG” since June 26th.
>AAA hasn’t used the #LUCHALIBREAAAenNY tag since June 18th
>AAA hasn’t used the #LUCHALIBREAAAenLA tag since June 29th
>AAA has continued to push their Mexico shows as normal; they’re not giving on social media ticket sales, just these shows.
>Neither the Spanish nor the English announce crew mentioned the AAA US shows on TripleMania commentary when it would normally be a focal point.
>This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletters says the announcers were specifically told not to bring up the US shows.
>Fite.TV were announced as carrying these shows on PPV. They currently list no show airing on September 15th.
>An AAA show was announced for September 16th outside Mexico City, the day after the scheduled show in New York. It’s possible for everyone to make it back from New York to be on this show, but it would be challenging.
>I’ve been waving “AAA’s shows look concerning” red flags. AAA’s usually helpful in telling me when I’m way off base. No one’s gotten back to me to say I’m wrong.

>None of this is definite proof the shows are canceled. The tickets for New York and Los Angeles remain on-sale as of late Thursday and there were still ads playing for it in the Forum last night. The evidence showing they’re not running theses is getting overwhelming though. We’re waiting for someone on the AAA show to be announced as working somewhere else on September 15 or for AAA to say something. That may still take a while. The social media mentions being dropped in June suggest someone knew to stop pushing it a while ago and yet nothing’s been said. You shouldn’t wait for them to finally change say it to make other plans.

>I got a pretty decent ticket: Sec 117, Row 14, Seat 11 in New York City. I don’t think I’m using it. I’m definitely sure I’m not buying a plane ticket and a hotel room for a show that doesn’t seem to exist. More importantly, I don’t want you – a person with an interest enough in lucha libre to be reading this – to have bought tickets to these shows to spend more money on them that you’ll have trouble getting back. I have no doubt the ticket money will be coming back. AAA’s been trustworthy on that in the past. I can’t vouch for airlines or hotel companies or whatever else. I’m sure you can find other things to do in New York if you’ve got no alternative, but I’d like you to have the option to do something else with your time and money.

>(LA people: these shows are being fronted by the same investors. Tickets didn’t move much better for LA. If the NY show goes down, they’re not going to run a standalone show in Los Angeles a month later.)

>There’s a lot more to say about why these shows didn’t work. I’d like to wait until they get officially canceled to talk about it, but I suspect all the responses to this will be people diagnosing the problem. I think the overarching problem is AAA beliving in taking giant swings and nothing else, and they’re not getting slow pitch machines in the US. There are smaller steps they need to take first – and everyone’s going to list them now – but they seem unwilling to take that approach. It’s a shame because TripleMania seemed to prove there would be a market for a well promoted and positioned AAA show in the US. These plans were not it, but that doesn’t mean AAA should give up. Just don’t start with the level 99 boss of MSG, start a little bit smaller and smarter.

>CMLL officially announced the CMLL Gran Prix would take place on August 30th. The announcement took place on CMLL Informa. This is an annual Mexico versus the Rest of the World 8 v 8 cibernetico which has had strong turnouts in recent years. The Rest of the World team usually includes Ring of Honor wrestlers, August 30th is an open weekend for ROH, so it’s looked like this date for a while.

>The CMLL team was announced on the show: Negro Casas, Diamante Azul, Dragon Lee, Barbaro Cavernario, Volador Jr., Forastero, Rush, Soberano Jr.

>Forastero sticks out as a person who would not be expected in this match – he’s the third guy in his own trio – and so there might be something more to him and Volador. Ultimo Guerrero is usually in the matches and is not, so he may be busy doing something with Cibernetico. This is a good group of people and also Diamante Azul.

>The Rest of the World Team will be announced next week. Count on Okumura and Dark Magic for two spots. Kawato too, if he’s not injured. (CMLL will probably have to address his disappearing act in some way.) Kenny King was said to be coming in to CMLL in August and August 30th still counts as August. NJPW has a show on August 31st, so most of their big names are going to be busy.

>CMLL hasn’t announced the date of the Aniversario show. 09/13, the day most people seem to think is the date, is only 29 days away. CMLL waiting until very late to announce a match is no longer strange, but typically at least the date is out there four weeks prior. It’s already strange for it not to be out – maybe it’ll be just mentioned in commentary tomorrow, but maybe also something else is going on. If that date got pushed back, there’s no need for it to be announced yet.
