Forgot to actually make a post

Anyway, he's clearly the best talent there, his promos are on another level, he feels legit and he's a big guy, it looks like he has it all and should've been champ several times by now

If it happens, it'll only ever happen once, and he'll be a transitional champion at best.

Nope!

they (Vince) has weirdly never seen it with Joe:
  • Foley wrote in Hardcore Diaries that he tried to push WWE to sign Punk, Joe and D Bry in the mid 2000s and felt like he was blown off
  • When they brought him into NXT, they didn't even sign him to a deal. They were cool with him working between NXT and ROH. They saw him as a freelance "player coach" like Rhino. They only signed him once ROH got national TV on Destination America.

All of his feuds - Roman, AJ, Brock - have been competitive matches to make the champ look strong. I think they see him as a "good hand"
Maybe its the age, the injuries piling up, the fact that he's not a Vince creation, the fact that he's a samoan but not an Anoa'i family member so Vince "doesn't get it."

Kofi's fine but there's a lot of midcarders who it wouldn't be mindblowing if he lost to them

What if he was called Karl Kingston? Exact same career as Kofi, but he was white?

They also signed him because they put out a Samoa Joe t-shirt and it immediately sold out.

It's insane to me they never pulled the trigger on him and made him a bone fide main eventer after his feud with Lesnar. He was the first person in a long time that looked like an actual threat to taking the Universal title from Brock at the time.

He's one of my picks that I hope wins KOTR and can actually get cemented as a main eventer.

It sucks Joe got signed to NXT during one of, if not the worst periods of NXT in regards to match quality.

I hope so, id like to think at some point he will get a run with one of the top belts, even if its a short one, but i think they want him there to make others look good

He looks like he could legit kill u and his mic work is 10/10 so he would do well with it if they give him the chance

I don't think a white guy switching from Jamaican to Ghanaian then joining a rap tag team with R-Truth and then joining a black gospel stable would fly in modern times, dude

Nope, not while the Old Man is around.

He's too fat and not conventionally attractive enough and Vince can't picture him on The View, so he would never put the title on him.

Meanwhile, Joe is easily one of the best guys on the entire roster. One of the most complete packages active in professional wrestling right now.

That only works until it doesn't, though.

Jinder at least had a little heat behind him. If we're counting the World Heavyweight Championship, guys like Ziggler and Swagger could easily be the least over champions.

Ziggler's first "reign" maybe, but his second one was pretty over even if it was pulled out from under him because he got concussed. I'm still mad at how they treated Dolph for getting shoot kicked by Swagger.

Vince makes a lot of his decisions based on what he thinks women find attractive. This, of course, is based more on his own beliefs about how a man should look and act than what any real, actual women think, but he's the man in charge. And the man in charge likes muscles, not fat.

Apart from Vince being old and out of touch, I think Joe suffers from bad timing? Every feud for one of the major titles he's had were at a time where they were either building up a new champion or working towards a different storyline. At the moment they're obviously building Rollins up to be an even bigger deal, so he's not going to lose the title any time soon. Kofi is probably retaining up until the switch to FOX when he'll drop the title to Lesnar because he's considered a big draw. So there's no real 'spot' for Joe to win it any time soon.

Joe has been awful for at least a decade. I don't know why people keep acting like he wasn't towards the end of his TNA run and during NXT. Those Joe vs. Nakamura matches were some of the most boring matches in WWE history. He's way too far past his prime and putting the title on him just to say he was champion is a terrible idea when he won't be able to deliver. He just doesn't have it anymore. That's why every feud he's had on the main roster has been a flop and the matches were trash

Never said Joe was a bad wrestler. He was fucking amazing from 2002-2008.
Everything after is nothing to brag about and his entire WWE run has been boring because he doesn't have it anymore.
I just don't get why people act like he's still at the level he was in the 00s. The hour long Joe vs. Zayn match was a good indicator of this.

That was the second time he won the belt. I'm talking about in 2011 when he was randomly awarded the belt (despite solidly being a midcarder), only to lose it back to Edge later that night.
