> AAA’s been promoting the Impact shows on social media but no one from AAA is currently advertised for tonight’s show. Dr. Wagner Jr. is announced for tomorrow’s show. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says Golden Magic, Nino Hamburguesa, and Taurus are scheduled for the shows, though Hijo del Vikingo is not because he’s got another booking. Nino Hamburguesa and Hijo del Vikingo are booked on the same shows on Thursday & Friday.

>I suspect Hijo del Vikingo’s other booking might not be a literal booking the same day, but that he’s booked to make his next TV appearance in AEW (whenever that can be worked out), and not in Impact.

What's good about these sellouts is A) They build momentum and buzz but also B) By the time they get to TV, they'll have the time to start promoting the upcoming shows that haven't sold out and give them the attention they need, rather than having to shill for shows coming up in only 1 or 2 weeks from the air date

AEW's playing it tremendously well for a new promotion. It seems they've formed the right strategies to win. The company was created in January, and their first LIVE TV show would be in October -- a span of 10 months. 10 long months. 10 months where they needed to maintain the hype. I think they were successful in that. They're doing a great job. I agree, the giant test for them is keeping the momentum each and every week. ALL OUT needs to deliver on a huge scale. It needs to be massive. This is their LAST "PPV", their last show before going on weekly, LIVE, TV. I really hope it's awesome.

Sooner or later people have got to accept attendance is not going to be an issue for AEW unless they get cocky and try to run something like Soldier Field. It was never going to be.
The real test for them isn’t whether they can put butts in these seats, it’s whether they can put butts in front of TVs

sad to see LAX go. I can't think of any other tag team that surpassed the originals. A rare case of a new team cementing their own legacy and exceeding all expectations. Hopefully they end up in AEW. I don't wanna see these guys become just another team in WWE. I do wonder how other companies will portray them though. They're comfortable without Konnan, but LAX without Konnan completely is a weird one

I don't think they're taking the LAX Gimmick to AEW. If Anthem gave the trademark to that gimmick to ayone, they gave it to Konnan. If anything, they just become EYFBO again. They wrestled as EYFBO at the HOG show last weekend when the Bucks fought Private Party.

Just now watching Fyter Fest. Was there an outrage over the chairshot to the head?
Alex Riley - Sun, 18 Aug 2019 01:29:31 EST F8fJXAHH No.6285288 Reply

Yes, but the outrage was tempered by the fact that it was a gimmicked chair, Cody was cut open by a freak accident.

Then you had Cornette and his followers outraging over the "it was a gimmicked chair" response and breaking kayfabe instead of using the chairshot to get heat on Shawn Spears.
Shark GIrl (Male) - Sun, 18 Aug 2019 01:32:10 EST sBJ6SVWI No.6285290 Reply
I thought it was just Cody being stupid and being okay with a headshot. But if the chair is gimmicked I'm all for it. the headshot with a chair is one of the more visually powerful things you can do in wrestling, and to allow it to happen (gimmicked chair of course) once in a long whle will keep it impactful and important.

Similar to how some promotions would ban the piledriver and only let a select few people use it in specific circumstances to make an impact

After Alexander Hammerstone became the first MLW wrestler to wrestle in NOAH under the new alliance as part of the N-1 Victory tournament and he won his first match against Go Shiozaki today, Ricky Martinez will be the first MLW wrestler to wrestle in The Crash under their new alliance - https://mlw.com/2019/08/18/mlw-sends-first-wrestler-to-the-crash-lucha-libre/

Even if the chair was gimmicked and made safer for Cody to take the chairshot to the head, the backlash of that isn't surprising given how chairshots to the head have been phased out a lot in American wrestling.
Shark GIrl (Male) - Sun, 18 Aug 2019 15:58:58 EST sBJ6SVWI No.6285467 Reply
To me the outrage was going to happen no matter what I suppose. but now that it's out there that the chairs are gimmicked, I think it could die down. Maybe they make the worked chairs a little more visually obvious with like a red band on one of the legs or something though

Though I would think "LAX" is Impact's intellectual property. And since it's a rotating stable, I doubt they'd let them just have it like EC3. I doubt they'd go by EYFBO either.

IIRC, he was some Fox Sports NFL analyst or something but he SUCKS at commentary. Hopefully the higher ups are aware of this and have noticed. If not, they're fucking dumb. Why the hell would you have him out on commentary for your debut weekly episodes and not a combo of Excalibur/JR/Tony? The dude is boring, stale, and quite frankly not very striking personally.

I remember when tna had a huge roster and they needed a second show (not xplosion) to showcase the undercard and newcoming talent. Then some sites reported tna was planning to film a pilot for a new show but it ended up being all wheels wrestling. IIRC, Spike was interested in financing a knockouts-only show but I guess in Dixie's mind wrestling+motorcycles was a better idea.

I hope Impact finds a better channel. This news makes some sense considering they renewed the twitch deal, and if a better channel picks them, they need something to fill the weekly twitch show. A second show would be great opportunity to further develop wrestlers like Fallah Bahh, Ace Austin or Kiera Hogan.

i believe All Wheels Wrestling was a Jarrett project. Like Ring Ka King.

Dixie ousted Double J from power but he still had minority ownership so she couldn't get rid of him completely. If I remember correctly, he had the freedom to develop new projects & All Wheels was something that he put together with hermie salder and his nascar connections. you can watch the pilot online: https://vimeo.com/74673748

but yeah... it's encouraging that anthem is so optimistic about making even more new wrestling content.

did some digging and it looks like it was Jarrett; there's an old interview with Daivari behind PWI's paywalll that says: "Shawn Daivari discusses a multitude of topics, including how he became involved with tomorrow's All Wheels Wrestling pilot taping for the Speed Network, what little he can divulge about the taping, why he thinks fans should come out to support it, why it was important to him that he only be working for Jeff Jarrett at the taping, why his TNA run went sour"

Also Jay dropped this once in an interview:
""I also heard a rumor that Dixie's mom came into the office because too much money was being spent and she made cuts. I also heard that, at the time, Jeff Jarrett was trying to start a new wrestling company up called... Something to do with NASCAR. Legally, guys who worked on that show could not work for Impact. I heard a rumor that was the reason I was let go. That one kind of made sense to me because shortly after I got released, I was contacted by Jeff Jarrett to work on that NASCAR show. I was never given a direct answer. "https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2017/09/jay-lethal-on-tna-releasing-him-632273/

>AEW has announced Tony Schiavone signed a deal with the company to join their television broadcast team and help produce live events.

>The press release states:
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) today confirmed that it has signed renowned commentator Tony Schiavone to a full-time, multi-year agreement.

Schiavone, widely considered to be one of the most important voices in professional wrestling, joins AEW’s television broadcast team of Jim Ross and Excalibur. Schiavone will also serve as a senior producer for AEW events.

In addition to his work with AEW, the versatile Schiavone will continue his role as producer for the University of Georgia Football and Baseball Network, and will call the play-by-play for the Atlanta Braves’ Triple A team, the Gwinnett Stripers.

“Tony ‘The Silver Tongue’ Schiavone was the lead voice of pro wrestling at a time when it was dominating the globe,” said Cody Rhodes, EVP of AEW. “It’s a pleasure to have him join AEW as a senior producer and member of the broadcast team. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a UGA fan either. I think Tony is one of the most underrated lead men with the narrative of pro wrestling there’s ever been. I’m thrilled to get into the studio with him. >Impact Wrestling is now covering hotel costs for talents on the road, PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources.

>Impact had covered costs of hotels for talent while in Mexico but for events in the United States and Canada, talent had been covering their own hotels. Management had told talents back in May it was something the company was working on doing as a way to give back to the locker room by absorbing some of the financial burden of talents' road expenses. This would be the first time since Anthem Media took over the company that such a perk has been offered.

>The hotels will be covered going forward as of next week's TV Tapings in Las Vegas and all signs are that this will be a new, consistent policy for Impact on the road.
>For those who have asked about Killer Kross, who has not appeared on Impact Wrestling programming since last month's Slammiversary PPV, we are told he is not injured and simply has not been booked by the promotion since his back and forth over a contract re-negotiation earlier this summer, leaving him contractually bound to the company, but not being utilized.

>The word among Impact talents is that Kross was actually in Toronto on family business the same time Impact taped there a few weeks back, but the company opted not to book him for the tapings. It should be interesting to see whether he is utilized for the September TV Tapings, given that he lives in Las Vegas where they are being held. Among talents, there is a sympathy for Kross as a family situation precipitated Kross pushing for a higher-end deal and instead, he's stuck in suspended animation.

>As PWInsider.com first reported earlier this summer, Kross had requested a release from the company after seeking a better financial deal from Impact, which offered a reworked three-year contract that was far below the six figure deal Kross was shooting for. Impact sources, at the time, told PWInsider.com that a release would not be granted but that everyone was still working together and was being professional.

>During an interview with Petey Williams' podcast in June, Kross noted that he liked everyone at Impact and everyone had been professional with him, but intimated that when he signed his deal, he did so after being led to believe there were not other opportunities for him elsewhere. Now that he's learned there are, and he's aware of what others within Impact are getting paid, he sought to be paid something on that level or be allowed to be released and leave in order to have the chance to prove he could draw and earn that money elsewhere. Kross noted that he has family members he is responsible for and as a man, it's on him to provide for them. During that appearance, Kross noted that he wanted to stay with Impact if everything could be worked out. He made it clear it was not a case of trying to run and grab money elsewhere, but that his family situation left him with no choice but to push for a better deal.

>Instead, Kross has not been booked of late and his t-shirt has been moved to the clearance area of Impact Wrestling's merchandise website. Kross would have the option of wrestling independently outside of Impact, with the obvious exception of nationally televised promotions. Meanwhile, the two sides remain at a standstill in terms of repairing their relationship, at least for now.

That's pretty sick that they are paying for their hotels. Im pretty sure a lot of wrestling companies don't do that.

The Killer Kross situation is a shame. I feel like Kross may have come on too strong and aired too much dirty laundry on twitter and podcasts expecting it to work in his favor. He even admits that before he signed to Impact he didn't have other options. Impact seems fine with people moving on elsewhere but you can't just demand more money and then threaten to leave if you don't get the money. It's not a large scale wrestling promotion like WWE or something. That being said I am sure Kross will either return to Impact or show up in AEW soon.

It's expected for everyone who needs to fly in. I don't know why you'd fly in a guy except to headline, unless you're doing some kind of super show. Local guys are used fill out the undercard. The marks may be in the ring these days, but even they aren't dumb enough to lose money paying for an airline ticket to wrestle on some indie show.

I mean... indie wrestlers have been paying for their own international flights for awhile now

Doug Williams complained about it years ago on his Art of Wrestling ep; said its an achievement to have an international promotion pay to fly you over and new guys paying for their own flights to Japan were ruining it for everyone.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Chikara locker room paid for their own flights when King of Trios was in the UK a few years ago.

how does AEW get their own press release wrong?

>The current line up planned is Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Goldenboy moving forward.

>Tony Schiavone will be helping with backstage segments and video packages. But is on a limited schedule as he can really only do Wednesday’s for now. (He works for MLW, University of Georgia’s college football announce team, etc.) But will most likely also do some announcing depending on the match. (Think how WWE would bring in JR for big match ups at Mania as an example.)

>AEW All Out will be a big night for the All Elite Wrestling women's roster as the Casino Battle Royale will determine the first challenger for the vacant AEW Women's Champion. Names currently scheduled to compete in the Casino Battle Royale include Britt Baker, Awesome Kong, Teal Piper, Jazz, and more. Speaking to Bleacher Report, head of the women's division and Chief Branding Officer Brandi Rhodes revealed that not everyone in the battle royale will be with AEW moving forward.

"Most of the women you'll see at the Casino Battle Royal are non-active members of our roster. As I've mentioned on the Road to All Out, we don't have 21 women on the roster and the match requires 21 women," said Brandi. "So, this is an opportunity for a lot of these women to get in front of a larger audience. Maybe an opportunity most of them have never had, or at least not in a long time. Right now, most of these women aren't actively members of the AEW roster. But that doesn't mean they won't continue to work with us."

>When All Elite Wrestling announced that Orange Cassidy would be signing with the promotion, the move was met by some backlash from fans. Cassidy is known for his more comedy style of wrestling and AEW has made every effort to tell fans that their product will be more serious and sports-based.

>When asked by a fan at Starrcast III about the Orange Cassidy signing, Cody defended the move and was upset others in the company didn't do the same.

>"I was a little pissed when we announced Orange Cassidy, and everyone got mad. Well, not everyone just Jim [Cornette], [Vince] Russo. They got mad," recalled Cody. "Then nobody defended him. I barely know the guy and I'm tweeting, 'He's a great wrestler,' because he is. I was mad. I didn't tell Matt or Nick [Jackson], 'Hey man, this is your hire. We have to take care of our own here. We have to defend our guy.' We did not say, 'We're introducing you to the AEW World Heavyweight Champion Orange Cassidy.' But everyone should get an opportunity. How hard is it, in this day and age with our terrible attention spans, how hard is it to make people laugh, cry, and care? If you can check one of those boxes, come on over to AEW."

>Cody continued, offering up praise for Orange's wrestling style

>"I don't know how he does it, with the hands," wondered Cody. "And I am concerned. But, let's watch it unfold. We're in this weird stage where everyone is standing over our shoulders while we paint this picture like, 'Oh, I don't know.' Let us paint the damn thing and then tell us if it sucked or if it's really good. Orange Cassidy can go and people know he can go."

>Cassidy made his AEW debut at Double or Nothing, participating in the Casino Battle Royale. He is not scheduled for a match at All Out.

Except do we actually know AEW's going to draw ANY casual fans? Likely not, and that's why it's an odd hire - you want to show that you're "sports-based," as was said in pressers, and so you want to put on the best matches possible... but then you hire a guy who's currently working a comedy shtick who, while he can go, his current gimmick is all about absolutely goofy shit.

I would guess a large majority of "casual" fans would be turned off by him, ,but that's just my analytical mind talking.

"Casuals", including the lauded 12-17 and 18-24 demographic, laugh at fucking "deep-fried" memes and Area 51 shit on Instagram by the millions. If they come for anything on AEW, it sure as fuck ain't for guys like Adam Page or Cody Rhodes, but characters that you can make memes out of like OC and Luchasaurus. People love goofy shit, especially nowadays when they will literally take ANYTHING they can get that doesn't remind them of the fucking fireball of a garbage world they currently inhabit.
Randy Orton - Fri, 30 Aug 2019 20:57:49 EST bWZ+YR1t No.6290127 Reply
Thanks for making my point better than I did.

Sure lapsed fans from the MNW era may show up out of curiosity, and with all the goofy shit from that era, I doubt OC will be a deal breaker for most of them.

But yeah, there's money in an absurdist, meme friendly, ironic pro wrestling icon to tap into that weird "millennial humor" demo. Someone made a point in another thread that while OC is a hell of a talent, the true test is of the person in the ring with him. If they can't adapt to his shtick, then it just becomes a paint by numbers "Greatest Hits of Orange Cassidy" type of match.

How AEW presents him will be interesting to watch. If they let him get fired up like he has on Beyond shows now and then, and if it isn't the same shtick week in and week out, the guy could become a legit superstar.

Twitter GIFs and a joke and then they move on, just like all the other times some fool did some goofy shit and got viral for a hot second. AEW positioning themselves as the joke company isn't going to do well for them. They had, maybe they still do, a chance to hit the ground running with tried and true professional wrestling. Serious presentation, proper matches and angles. A proper counter product to Vince's sports entertainment soap opera nonsense. They could have made so many more fans happy if they did things right instead of how they have, which is before they have even really started there is so much animosity towards AEW.

To many fans, myself included, we have written them off as indie shit with a bigger budget. That is an impression they could have very well avoided and should have done so. I hope they turn things around but I'm already jaded with wrestling and these clowns aren't making me regret my lack of interest and watching of the sport.

> After the very successful All Out pay-per-view, Tony Khan spoke to the media about a variety of topics, including the AEW status of Kylie Rae, and his thoughts on the company’s championship scene. During the discussion, Khan said that AEW will have a more “diverse” championship/main event scene. He promised that we would see his plan by the end of 2019.

> Speaking about his ambitions for the new promotion’s main event scene, Khan had the following to say:

> “I think we are going to see some wrestlers of color in the men’s division. I think it’s something that’s really important to me. We have some wrestlers who are absolutely going to contend. I don’t wanna tip my hand on who will be in contention, but I think you will see by the end of the year that I am committed to diversity and I am doing some exciting things to establish new stars both in the singles and tag division and getting some diversity in those roles. You’ll see and I’m gonna do it in a way that you won’t remember we had this conversation and it’s going to be good.”

> Khan was then quick to reassure the media that he wouldn’t be pushing people for the sake of diversity, but because they deserved the shot they were being given:

> “I’m not forcing it and I’m not doing it because I’m trying to be more diverse. I’m doing it because there are people on this roster who deserve the push and I’ve identified them and I wanna push those people.”

> The start of Khan’s goal can certainly already have been seen at All Out. The transgender wrestler Nyla Rose won the 21-woman Casino Battle Royale on the pre-show. She will face Riho on October 2nd for the chance to become the inaugural AEW Women’s Champion.

That was, to date, the last time Kross was booked for Impact. If any wrestling company gets upset over someone refusing to get color in 2019, that wrestling company doesn't deserve to exist. The Slammiversary PPV took place a week after there was concern about a potential hepatitus outbreak at an independent event in Indiana. >To say things haven't improved between IMPACT Wrestling and Killer Kross would be an understatement.

>Kross was in the headlines earlier this year when he and girlfriend Scarlett Bordeaux both asked for their releases from the company. While Bordeaux's was granted, Kross' was not, and he's sat in limbo through most of the Summer.

>In noticing that Kross hasn't been booked to wrestle for IMPACT since Slammiversary, Fightful sent an inquiry to the company for clarity on his status Sunday. Tuesday, Bill Pritchard of Wrestlezone issued a report that Fightful was able to confirm, noting that Kross refused to blade during his Slammiversary match with Eddie Edwards in July. The concerns raised were the lack of blood testing, and the absence of an on-site doctor that made talent feel unsafe about the request

>The story ended up tying together with another, when Fightful reached out to several employees and wrestlers about the news that IMPACT would be paying for hotels. In asking around, many wrestlers claimed that they've not been paid in full for their merchandise. We should clarify this wasn't across the board, but were told is was a point of contention between IMPACT and Kross in the past, as well.

>We were told that many IMPACT contracts are structured to include non-disparagement clauses, and provisions to prevent talent from speaking on what the deals entail. When speaking with an employee of IMPACT Wrestling, they noted that Kross has been speaking with the company via an attorney for several weeks, and believes that IMPACT has been in breach of his contract. IMPACT still reportedly has several months on the deal, and the option to roll it over, though the amount of time was indeterminate.

>This could also end up affecting Kross' AAA bookings. AAA has a show coming up on September 15, and is actually gaining the help of IMPACT to promote the event, an IMPACT worker revealed. IMPACT and Ed Nordholm specifically are said to be allowing AAA to use their promoter's license and several other amenities, and implied to the company that they'd prefer Killer Kross to not be on those shows. Kross has worked dozens of dates for AAA over the last several years, most recently at August's TripleMania show.

>Fightful has reached out to IMPACT Wrestling in an official capacity on Killer Kross' status, the story about him refusing to blade, among other aspects, and have not heard back.

It wasn't until the last few shows that Kross was shown early on into the Impact opening reel. Looks like he's been wiped from these, but before, during the promo bumps for the Mexico shows, he was shown. Looks like he's going to sit out the rest of his contract.
As much as I am not a Taya fan, at least it looks like she'll be active until her contract runs out in December.

It seems like they were committed to working together and sorting out differences until this supposed blade job thing happened.

Impact is between a rock and a hard place:
  • If they hold onto him, they look like assholes. Paying a guy to bench him is a dick move.
  • If they release him, it sets a bad precedent that makes their contracts worthless as soon as a signed talent does a podcast complaining about LOLTNA in order to get leverage. In order to enforce the contract, they have to weather a storm of bad PR.

I thought it was interesting that Scarlett was not at ALL OUT. Saw online that Impact might have put a non-compete in her release. It definitely reads like Scarlett & Kross thought they could score a good deal playing NXT against AEW or someone in one of those companies made an off-the-record offer to them

I feel like everyone should just follow Mox's lead: keep a poker face, say you're leaving to step away from wrestling, then do whatever the fuck you want the minute you are contractually free. No one who has gone public has actually benefitted and if you sign a contract that has a non-disparagement clause (which is pretty common in most corporate stuff) then you're double-fucked.

If you don't like the length or pay of the deal offered... don't sign.

Except in this case Kross has acted unprofessional and shitty too. You can't slag your employer in public and on a podcast and expect their to be no repercussions.

Both sides look bad. Just release the guy. IMPACT haven't used him in ages and the product hasn't suffered even though he could easily be one of their top guys.

Exactly, If it was the other way around and they released him, the usual trolls would be saying "lol impact can't even keep their talent around".

At this point though Callis needs to come out and just explain their side of the story. To me this looks like KM playing shit stirrer as he wants a cut of whatever new contract they get.

the thing is if Kross had actually waited and stuck around as a team player, he might have actually got a contract bump, but now he's just appeared petulant. And I had the same thought about Scarlett too.

don't really think its his call.

The stuff with Matt Hardy, Eli Drake and now Kross all seem to be Ed Nordholm's deal. rovert had posted gossip that after Jarrett got fired, he refused to ever let a wrestler "work" him ever again. Which was he fired Alberto as soon as he no-showed the Wrestlecon show.

Supposedly Don Callis was the one who told Nordholm to drop the issue with Matt Hardy and just give him the Broken gimmick back. And the reports of what was going to happen to Eli Drake ended up amounting to nothing and Drake seems to speak fondly still of his experience there. Hopefully Callis could talk him out of pulling another Vince move.

>TNT usually airs repeat programming in the 10 p.m. Eastern time slot.

>It's hard to say what this means, but viewership was over 50 percent higher than last year's All In pre-show. The difference was that the All In pre-show aired on a weaker network -- WGN America -- and in a traditionally weaker time slot at 7 p.m. Eastern on Saturday. But it also took place right before All In and featured live matches, while Friday's special was taped promo packages for the bouts that would take place the next night on pay-per-view.

If you've followed KM, he was always a bit of a hot-head. He had a terrible rep after he left WWE Developmental because he was one of the most vocally anti-Bill DeMott. It was pretty unfair that labeled him "bitter"

I remember people groaning when Jarrett brought him into Impact in 2017. But he really stepped up with the America's Tom Team stuff. Its a shame he's not around anymore but I do understand why you can't keep Fallah Bahh in a tag team forever.

As for Kross, he said that he found out that others were making more in impact and that he didnt think he had other options. 1.) you're not going to make the most money in your first year at any job, you have to pay dues. Plus if anyone is worth six figures in this pair, its Scarlett. Kross can't do anything that isn't done better by Moose, Cage and Elgin and unsigned guys on the indies. But Scarlett is a Youtube draw (whatever thats worth) and just stupidly hot.

2.) this whole "i signed cause i thought it was my only option" talk just sounds fishy. how would he know there are other offers waiting for him as long as he gets out of his contract -- and that isn't contract tampering?

I know there are ways around it. It sounds like he got an under the table offer and Ed Nordholm called his bluff. So now its gotten heated.

>he didnt think he had other options

yeah this is the dumb thing. If he had other options, then surely those companies would have reached out to him?

When you look at what LAX have done, (and most likely what Tessa Blanchard will do in a year or so), they signed with Impact, raised their value, built up a portfolio of matches and tv time, and then when the time was right, signed on to a bigger company with no hard feelings and a reputation for being a good worker. If Kross had stuck it out for a year, they probably would have bumped his contract up anyway.

In Tessa's case even, while she's been at impact she's actually done a lot to shed her image as someone who rubs people the wrong way.

>Impact Wrestling sources have confirmed to PWInsider.com that Killer Kross is not booked for this week's TV tapings. The company remains steadfast in their belief that they offered Kross a six-figure deal (we are told by one source the six figures are in total over three years, broken down as $40K, $60K and 80K; another source declared those numbers "outdated" and that the final rejected offer was much higher) in a new deal, which Kross declined and that he is being held to his existing deal, which has 18 months left. We are also told by Impact sources that Kross has hired an attorney and is using that attorney to facilitate all communication between the two sides. In regard to the blading issue, Impact sources claim that their side were the ones who offered the fake blood to Kross when he declined to blade and there was no issue with his choice. While conceding there were no doctors at the Slammiversary event, Impact sources stated they did have EMTs present at the show.

I dunno, considering how public his firing was, I take Eli Drake's word:
>I had a phone call with Ed Nordholm [just before the beginning of June]. He was very gracious to reach out. We had kind of spoken at length on what we could agree on, what we could do to move forward in a way that’s amicable. I told him that I have no intentions of giving Impact a bad rap. They’ve been very good to me. I live a comfortable life because of the money that I made there.”

>I don’t think that Ed Nordholm actually truly intended to uphold [the 12-month non-compete]. I only say that because he and I never had any kind of issues. Never had a cross word. >Rob Van Dam isn't going anywhere -- even after Bound For Glory. The former WWE and IMPACT Wrestling champion returned to IMPACT this year, in a deal that was expected to go from WrestleMania weekend through Bound For Glory. However, when speaking with Fightful for an exclusive interview, RVD confirmed that he's already extended that deal.

>He told us how he landed in IMPACT, and what has him staying.
"I talked with IMPACT! about what I wanted to do, which is mostly stay home unless the business reaches a certain level to pique my interest. And they came to that level. Everyone’s talking about AEW, and how they could be scaring WWE. I happen to know IMPACT! can afford RVD, so they’re something someone should be talking about too. It’s all business. I did a match, I think it was WrestleCon—Sabu and I had a tag match and first it was just a one off, and then Scott D’Amore in the office said, “Hey, what do you think about doing this other handful of matches?” Took me to October, and then recently we added a few more matches so I’ll be with them ‘til January. Then we’ll see how it goes after that," said Van Dam.

>RVD intimated that he only likes to wrestle about a dozen times per year, a number he's already approaching since April. However, he says those numbers are a little bit distorted due to IMPACT Wrestling's taping schedule.
"I think it looks like I’m way busier than I am because the IMPACT! schedule is very favorable to me. Like, for instance, this week on Thursday and Friday we’re here in my town, so it’s very easy travel. But that doesn’t happen all the time, but what’s awesome is on Thursday and Friday they’ll have a month’s worth of television. It’s TV taping, and they’ll do two weeks in one day and then they’ll do another two weeks in one day, and boom! See you in next month. It’s pretty good. And I do some things outside of that, of course. ‘Cause I’m a big superstar celebrity, so I do some other wrestling, some other appearances, some acting, whatever. But, I’ve always been doing pretty well at my goal of doing less and making it mean more—more in the pocket, and more to everybody. More IMPACT!-ful, if you will," said RVD.

>Van Dam made an appearance at this year's Raw Reunion, which turned some heads due to his association with IMPACT. RVD has been on both sides of the coin over the past decade, and said that he was both surprised and unsurprised about the entire situation
"Yes and no. Yes, the call was a surprise. And IMPACT! reacting the way that they did, in a favorable way, didn’t surprise me because when I talked to them about promoting my documentary Headstrong, they were happy to do it. And then ran a trailer on their show, on the weekly TV show, and they said “Hey, anything to help you, helps us.” So I just assume that’s the way they would look at me being on the RAW Reunion as well," RVD noted.

Cody Rhodes to Challenge Chris Jericho for AEW Title at 'Full Gear'
>Newly crowned All Elite Wrestling champion Chris Jericho will defend his title against Cody Rhodes at the Full Gear pay-per-view event in November, Sports Illustrated has learned.

>The match is indicative of AEW’s commitment to the win-loss record of its stars. Rhodes has yet to lose in singles action, defeating Shawn Spears at this past weekend’s All Out pay-per-view, as well having his hand raised in the company’s signature match, which took place against Dustin Rhodes in May at the inaugural Double or Nothing show. Rhodes also went to a draw with Darby Allin at Fyter Fest in July.

>The combination of wins and quality of opponents, similar to the strength of schedule format applied in college football, has propelled Rhodes to a title match against Jericho. The commitment to a wrestler’s record adds an element of realism to AEW not typically on display in major North American wrestling promotions, and enhances the chase for Jericho’s world title.

>AEW president and CEO Tony Khan confirmed the report.
“Cody’s outstanding record in singles competition has secured him the number one contender ranking, and he will be challenging AEW world champion Chris Jericho in the first ever pay-per-view defense of the championship on November 9 in Baltimore at Full Gear,” said Khan. “Cody earned this opportunity over the summer as he remained unbeaten in singles bouts, scoring pins on a pair of proven veterans, defeating his older brother, the legendary wrestler Dustin Rhodes at Double or Nothing, and beating bitter rival and former partner Shawn Spears at All Out—and battling to a draw with the exciting upstart Darby Allin at Fyter Fest.

“This is an AEW world championship match that so many All Elite Wrestling fans are excited to witness, and I’m glad we’ll be able to present it at Full Gear.”

>Jericho has dominated wrestling coverage since becoming AEW’s first world champ. Following his victory over “Hangman” Adam Page at All Out, Jericho’s post-match champagne celebration went viral.

>He continued to dominate coverage throughout the week, igniting even more interest when news broke on Tuesday that a police report was filed over Jericho’s missing AEW championship belt. Jericho showcased his seemingly innate ability to improvise and capitalize upon any opportunity, and his social media posts and videos helped transform the story into a massive gain for the company.

>A clash between Jericho and Rhodes on pay-per-view gives each performer the chance to further elevate AEW’s status in an industry with a fan base hungry for an alternative to WWE.

wrestlers going to the dirtsheets was always the way to put the pressure on the office to fix things, although we didn't hear about the merch royalties thing until after Anthem started paying for hotels and setting up a PWTees shop. ROH is not the place for and your gimmick which focuses the least on in-ring/"workrate". Go to literally any other fed where you can get by on the smoke/mirrors/dancing and character work and can get noticed because you wont be in the black hole of pro wrestling that ROH is now.
C-Higgy !lfsExjBfzE - Wed, 11 Sep 2019 14:48:32 EST qE0Hxhq0 No.6295098 Reply
Well good for her I guess but she'll probably be wasted in ROH like Tenille Dashwood was.

Because if she had signed with WWE as part of NXT UK, she wouldn't be able to work in Stardom and do indie dates in Europe anymore. Impact probably can't afford her and AEW probably didn't have any interest in her so ROH was her best option.

PCO is 51 and as he said, signing with ROH was the best deal he ever got in his career. Can't really turn that down.

ROH's Women of Honor is worse than Impact's Knockouts and WWE and AEW's women's divisions but at least the other promotions would be able to utilize her character better even if they would have to tone it down for television.

There's an "insider" on reditwho has posted 4 threads over the last 2 years with backstage news on Impact: "I've worked in Impact/TNA for a few years I left in May 2016 but still have a lot of contacts in the company. I've lurked here but have never posted and would like to share some of the info that I have gathered about Impact."

Mods had posted: "We've read the OPs message to us and looked into some of his/her claims with our own sources, and they seem to check out for the most part. However, we are still going to say this is an "unverified insider" for please keep that in mind."

They came back tonight:
>Let’s start off with the recent purchase of AXS, Anthem has planned this for awhile and was finally able to pull it off. As for what this means for Impact is still somewhat up in the air, Impact will air on AXS but the date is still not set, I would say it’ll happen in October though.

>With AXS getting Impact we will see Pursuit get a new show from Impact, it’ll be a studio based wrestling show and be able to present new wrestlers that will join Impact.

and hooo boy could you imagine:
>In possible major news Anthem who now owns ROH on HDnet’s video library are in talks to purchase the company. The talks are in the very beginning stage but Sinclair is listening and seems interested. If this was to go through I’d expect Anthem to fold ROH completely and place the entire library on the Impact Plus app. Another thing that has been thrown around would be a Split type situation where Impact and ROH are the same company but ROH will be placed on either AXS or Pursuit (more than likely AXS) as its own show and have Impact guys appear on and off.

Anthem CEO also just did this interview:
>“By no means do we want to stop here. I don’t think we have enough scale. This is a good start, but yes, we are looking for other opportunities.”

>“We want to grow with as much proprietary content as we can. That’s a very important part of our growth plan, owning content. We believe owning the content and putting it on our channels, but also having it on other people’s platforms as well. I call that untethered vertical integration.”

>Saturday 10/19, Impact will run 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, IL in conjunction with Warrior Wrestling and Zelo Pro Wrestling with Impact talents facing the top local independent stars.
>Sunday 10/20 will be Bound for Glory itself, which features the following updated lineup: Impact Champion Brian Cage vs. Sami Callihan, Moose vs. Ken Shamrock, Michael Elgin vs. Naomichi Marufuji, The Rascalz vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. and two partners to be announced.

> New Japan Pro Wrestling and WOW, Women of Wrestling will not air on AXS TV this Saturday 9/21. The two series will be preempted due to the cable network's broadcast of the 2019 Farm Aid concert. WOW and New Japan will return on 9/28.

>In responding to a PWInsider.com inquiry about the future of New Japan and WOW on AXS TV, Ed Nordholm sent the following statement:
“Anthem has been public that it has not made any decisions regarding current programming. We have been long-time broadcast partners with TV Asahi for NJPW at Fight Network and hope to build on that relationship. We are in the middle of a season with WOW and about to tape another series of episodes, so no reason to make any decisions there in the short term. We’re looking forward to getting to know them better.”

I mean, the whole organisational logic of AEW is that Jericho, Omega, Bucks, Cody and Brandi are in privileged positions of power compared to the other wrestlers. Don't just single out Brandi here, it's an organisation built on cronyism.

Remember the bad old days of Taker in WWF acting as king of the lockerroom? Now imagine that instead of one person, it's 6 people you have to walk on eggshells around. Sure, everyone will say to the media that the locker room is great and "we're all having fun", but you think Matt Jackson doesn't have the power to get someone fired if they mock his hairline? I don't think it will come out for a long time, but AEW seems like a recipe for resentment and general snitching and bitchyness

Framing it as sexist thing is a bit reductive. The actual wrestlers like Cody, Bucks, Omega and Jericho have a proven track record as wrestlers and self starting entrepreneurs. Brandi has always jsut been there hanging on to Cody, she was a ring announcer a few years ago and there's no evidence she has the knowledge or skill to be at the head of the women's division. Happy to actually have a discussion about without bad faith "they hate women" bad faith arguments.

>“Shane Taylor Promotions is going to be a company dedicated to promoting and advertising the hottest professional wrestling talents in the world, with the Ring of Honor World Television Champion at the forefront.

>We’re currently in contact with numerous wrestling companies, in regards to partnership one of which is Ring of Honor.

>While I’m incredibly humbled by the support over these past few days, Shane Taylor Promotions is about me, my legacy, my mark on this sport and being the biggest star that I can possibly be. It’s about highlighting my accomplishments, and using my platform to its fullest capability to make myself more than just a professional wrestler.

>Ring of Honor took a chance on me when nobody else would. The talent they’ve done that for reads like a who’s who list. Ring of Honor has the best wrestlers and the best competition in the world, they have a legacy and reputation that are unparalleled that’s evident when you look at the stars in other major companies.

>I don’t believe Ring of Honor officials expected me to rise to the very top of the company and outgrow the expectations and platform they had for me, but now that I have, I need a company that’s big enough and willing to facilitate what THIS star truly deserves.

>So it’s because of that loyalty, that opportunity, and Ring Of Honor’s original belief in me that Ring of Honor will have the first opportunity to negotiate with Shane Taylor Promotions on a new deal, that gives myself and others the platform, and the opportunities needed to shine.”

Bix is just 'that guy', has that lawyer-esque mentality of gathering every minute detail of every event and every potential wrongdoing you've ever committed so he can use it against you should you ever 'come for him'. From a wrestling history perspective, that's useful, he can write decent retrospective articles if he cares to, but these are people's real lives and jobs he's constantly trying to ruin in real time. Comes across as such a pathetic little man at times like these.

don't care about the guy one way or another, but that is the job of any journalist in any field and they've got to be dispassionate about whether or not it'll ruin the subject. dunno anything about the timing of the release so if he's doing it in retaliation that's kinda fucked up, but it doesn't change the facts.

Turner, AEW in Talks to Launch Companion Studio Series for ‘Dynamite’ Debut – or ‘Shortly Thereafter’ (Exclusive)
>Professional wrestling fans can’t seem to get enough content these days [citation needed], and Turner and AEW are more than happy to feed the beast.

>Brett Weitz, the general manager of TNT, TBS and truTV, told TheWrap that his company and All Elite Wrestling are “talking about” doing a studio show together. That would be in addition to their two-hour weekly partnership for wrestling series “Dynamite,” which launches next Wednesday.

>“We are talking about it,” Weitz said when we specifically asked if there could be “a possible studio show as a companion [series]” for “Dynamite.” “I don’t know if you’ve met Tony Khan, but he’s not short of ideas — or passion,” he continued. “So there is a world where we’re thinking about ‘Where does something like that live?’ Knowing full well that within the WarnerMedia ecosystem we have B/R Live, we’ve got all these different components at our disposal.”

>“The more content for these fans the better, and we would love to figure out what something like that looks like,” he said.

>So would we. And so might a curious WWE, which in April announced it would be launching a studio show on Fox Sports’ FS1 this fall. The Tuesday night cable series will serve as a companion show — of sorts — for Fox broadcast network’s new jewel, “Friday Night SmackDown,” which launches next Friday.

>The FS1 studio show will also cover “Raw,” which continues to air on TNT’s key competitor USA Network.

>We are still awaiting a launch date, title and talent for WWE’s FS1 studio show. According to website The Big Lead, the Fox Sports 1 show has the working title “WWE Backstage” and is slotted for a Nov. 5 launch. That gives AEW and TNT about a month to beat it to market.

>Such payback would probably feel pretty sweet after WWE moved its minor-league wrestling series “NXT” to TNT competitor USA Network, occupying the same exact time slot that All Elite Wrestling had previously announced for its then-untitled “Dynamite.” WWE rushed “NXT” (which had been a Wednesday show airing in the same time slot on WWE Network) to cable two weeks ahead of AEW’s debut, technically planting its flag on linear TV first.

>TheWrap attempted to reach WWE and Fox Sports reps for comment on The Big Lead’s story, but we did not immediately hear back.

>Others have reported AEW’s desire to add a third hour of programming on Turner platforms. Earlier this month, All Elite Wrestling co-founder and star wrestler Cody Rhodes told IGN that they were considering a third hour of content, though most wrestling blogs and fans took his comments to mean the extra time would be more in-ring action.

>“It may not happen on October 2, which is what we’re all kind of gunning towards, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was something that [launched] shortly thereafter,” Weitz said of the potential companion series. “We’re thinking about it for sure.”

>SUWANEE - Police arrested an Atlanta Falcons offensive player this week on battery charges after he allegedly roughed up his wife and spat in her face.

>The tussle, which spanned the couple's Suwanee home, began when Quinn Ojinnaka's wife "approached him about a female on Facebook," according to a Gwinnett police report.

>Arrested Tuesday night, Ojinnaka, 25, is charged with simple battery, a misdemeanor. He posted $2,400 bond and was released from the Gwinnett County Jail hours later.

>Police responded to the domestic dispute call at Ojinnaka's Blue Pointe Court residence about 9 p.m.

>The 6-foot, 6-inch offensive tackle told police he'd settled down to watch the Cleveland-Orlando NBA playoff game about 8 p.m. when his wife approached him about the online acquaintance. When he ignored her, she unplugged the television to get his attention, and he became angry, the police report says.

>The couple's accounts of what happened from that point differ.

>Ojinnaka claims he "grabbed her and put her outside" twice, until she went for a walk. The argument later continued upstairs, where he said his wife tried to stab him with a pen, which prompted him to spit in her face, the report says.

>Ojinnaka's wife, Ebony, told police her husband threw her on some stairs, then tossed her out of the house twice. She claims he verbally assaulted her and grabbed her by the neck before spitting in her face, the reports says.

>Quinn Ojinnaka denied putting his hands around his wife's neck.

>"Neither person had visible injuries or complained of any injuries," an officer wrote. "All medical assistance was refused."

>There should be an announcement within the next two days about Impact Wrestling's official debut on AXS TV. AXS has moved Dan Rather's program from Tuesday to Wednesday nights, so the smart betting is on Impact landing on Tuesdays at 8 PM Eastern. We are told that while the Impact weekly series will not debut on AXS TV until after Bound for Glory, you can expect Impact programming on the network much earlier in October. Scott D'Amore and Josh Matthews were filming wrap-arounds for that programming in Los Angeles last week.

>John Pollock of POSTWrestling.com reported this evening that Impact Wrestling’s Vice President of Production Kevin Sullivan will be leaving the company. Pollock reported that the belief is that Sullivan will be leaving for All Elite Wrestling. PWInsider.com can confirm that Sullivan is AEW bound, as is Jim Morris, who worked closely with Sullivan on Impact's production end. Sullivan had been doing work for AEW even prior to their debut PPV and internally within Impact, it was not a huge shock when he gave notice. We are told that those leaving (there are a few other production types also departing Impact for AEW, but we have yet not confirmed names) will be closing out their responsibilities with Impact and that the company already has a transition team in place. The plan is to still house TV production out of Nashville going forward. Sullivan has previously worked for WWE, DirecTV and FOX Sports as a Producer. This will be the end of his second tenure with Impact, as he returned to the company as part of Jeff Jarrett's team after Anthem took over Impact from Dixie Carter. Sullivan had also been working as a Producer for BELLATOR. There's no word if his tenure there will be ending.

Presumably the PPVs would be edited down to fit a two hour slot? Unless they're letting them broadcast in full? Nice idea though, gets people hooked in again.

he's honestly improved a lot working with Callis. He's made good calls, cracked a few good jokes and he clearly busts his ass behind the scenes. Those years under Big John Gaburick & Dixie Carter were terrible but its like defining Tony Schiavone's legacy by 99-01 WCW

>There’s a new date and venue for ROH’s return to San Antonio. The company is pleased to announce that Night 2 of Survival of the Fittest will take place on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the historic Aztec Theatre.

>Tickets for the event go on sale this Wednesday, October 2 at 10 a.m. Central for HonorClub members and Friday, October 4 at 10 a.m. Central for the general public.

>The show will feature the finals of the Survival of the Fittest tournament, the winner of which will receive a future shot at the ROH World Championship. Past winners of the prestigious tournament include the likes of Marty Scurll, Jay Lethal, Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black, Adam Cole and Roderick Strong.

>This will be ROH’s second time at the beautiful Aztec Theatre, which opened in 1926 as one of the most decorative motion picture palaces in the country. Located in the heart of downtown San Antonio, the Aztec Theatre is considered a Meso-American architectural work of art.

>From its stunning lobby and mezzanine to the glorious theatre and balcony, the Aztec Theatre is an experience unlike any other. It’s fitting that the theatre should host ROH, a pro wrestling experience unlike any other featuring the best wrestlers on the planet!

>BELL TIME: 7:00

I assume this is moving to a smaller venue due to poor ticket sales?

>The current plan is to provide some sort of Impact Wrestling programming on The Pursuit Channel going forward, but nothing has been confirmed in terms of those plans.

>Nolan Edwards, an independent wrestler from Tenneseee, has been hired to join the company's production team. On his Facebook page, Edwards wrote, "Over the past month I’ve had an amazing experience going to Las Vegas one weekend and Oklahoma City the next for IMPACT Wrestling. Now it looks like today on only 2 days notice I’ve packed up everything I own into my truck and I’m heading down to Nashville for the time being to take on a roll with the Impact Wrestling Production Team following our deal with AXS TV. It’s going to be hard leaving the school in Windsor where all of my closest friends are. As I was leaving yesterday I got a little emotional when I realized that I’m going to be going to a new school and new shows when I feel like Windsor made me truly feel like a pro wrestler for the first time. But here we go, to more experience and the opportunity of a life time."

>There's been a number of former production employees who have reached out to the company in the last 24 hours offering their assistance if needed in the wake of the departures of Kevin Sullivan, Jim Morris and others who are AEW-bound.

which one? there are 3

There's Kevin Sullivan, the author of wrestling books: https://www.amazon.com/Kevin-Sullivan/e/B001HPE8Z0/

Kevin Sullivan, former TV director for TNA then Global Force then Impact and now AEW

And there's the Taskmaster. Last thing he was involved with was MLW TV last year managing Pillman Jr before Brian turned on him

Hopefully the production doesn't get sloppy again for Impact. I thought Sullivan already left though but it was going to happen anyway, AEW has greater demand.

>All Elite Wrestling has raided the production team of Impact Wrestling, SEScoops has learned.

>Impact has been outsourcing the majority of its production work to Kevin Sullivan’s KevinSully TV, a company based out of Nashville. Over the weekend, KSTV cut a deal with AEW and will be working directly with AEW lead producer Keith Mitchell.

>The mass exodus of virtually its entire production division has left Impact scrambling. Impact was blindsided over the weekend when the Sullivan group notified them the working relationship was over effective immediately.

>KSTV tried to secure a contract with Anthem, which would have given them a sense of stability. That never came to fruition, which understandably led to some uncertainty and left the door open for AEW to swoop in.

>Impact is trying to spin the situation as if AEW only took one person, but that is not the case. Kevin Sullivan TV is composed of editors, graphic artists, sound engineers, video producers, voiceovers studios and more. They assembled all of Impacts weekly programming for domestic and international.

>Over the past couple days, Impact hired a local Tennessee producer to handle the work of several people while it regroups from this latest setback.

>One source who we spoke with about this story called it a “huge strategic move” by AEW and “crippling” to Impact ahead of their move to AXS TV in late October.

>The situation is not without some irony, as it relates to the business practices of Impact and (parent company) Anthem Sports & Entertainment. Following Anthem’s recent purchase of AXS TV, they immediately gutted the production staff of AXS TV’s offices in Dallas and Colorado. Many very talented production people were pushed out of their jobs. Now, Impact finds itself badly in need of very talented production people.

While this is a dick move, Impact's production of late shits all over AEW's in every conceivable way. Just getting somebody onboard who knows how to shoot a match should be a huge benefit.

Sounds like Anthem/Impact knew exactly what risk they were putting themselves in. If you look at Sullivan's site he's been doing work with AEW since it started. He wanted an exclusive contract, went to Impact first, didn't get it, moved on.

>One source who we spoke with about this story called it a “huge strategic move” by AEW and “crippling” to Impact ahead of their move to AXS TV in late October.

is the source Don? Jeez.

Sucks though. Hopefully they can get a good/stable crew and lock them down.

Yeah if you look at Anthem's MO, they are pretty thrifty.
The Fight Network doesn't do original broadcasts of MMA, they just air it from the UK/Europe. So thats why they laid off AXS's in-house MMA production team.

When they bought TNA, they let go of all the contracted refs & production people and went with freelancers. They told EC3, James Storm, etc that they weren't going to renew their guaranteed Dixie money.

On one hand, you can't spend money you don't have. There's nothing wrong with keeping the OGz or Jordynne Grace freelance for a few months. On the other hand, AEW has changed everything and no one can really afford to stay freelance cause AEW will grab you or WWE will grab you so AEW doesn't have you.

As long as Impact has good on-screen talent and can keep a good editing staff (the part that's saved the company so long), they'll be fine. Let the "big" players keep poaching, there's more fish in the sea. Just ask Shark Boy.

this would imply Impact had the money to sign them to a contract but chose not to.

Its far more likely that Impact, like everything else in Anthem's empire, had to be in penny-pinching mode, so they could buy AXS.

LOLTNA at its finest. They really should have kept the AXS production guys and assigned them to Impact since AEW were going to need their producers to work solely on their stuff considering the heavy schedule.

Here's hoping shit doesn't get back to the horrible production Impact had in 2015. That shit was really bad, complete with horrible "nobody's here" lighting.

And yet none of this will matter because they'll just hire another production team. It's not like there's a shortage of production companies.
Pretty sure TNA have lost this type of personnel in the past and absolutely nothing changed. They lost freaking Borash and Abyss and they were fine.

You gonna be one of them niggas that runs to tell everyone 'HAHAHA told you so! LOLTNA' when TNA does eventually die in 2040.
