AEW DYNAMITE - AEW DARK - 8PM EDT / 1AM BST

File: 1570656551214.png -(660222B / 644.75KB, 740x416) Thumbnail displayed, click image for full size. AEW DYNAMITE - AEW DARK - 8PM EDT / 1AM BST
> Watch AEW Dynamite at 8pm EDT / 1am BST in http://taima.tv/r/wooo and http://taima.tv/r/woooalt
> AEW Dynamite is followed by AEW Dark at 10pm EDT / 3am BST, with the following matches from last week's taping:
  • Cima vs Darby Allin
  • Britt Baker & Allie vs Penelope Ford & Bea Priestley
  • Private Party & Best Friends vs Lucha Bros & Angelico & Jack Evans
  • SCU vs Jurassic Express & Marko Stunt
For anyone who does watch on TNT, there is a possibility of AEW being moved to TruTV due to baseball overrunning. If Cardinals/Braves ends on time, AEW will air in full at the scheduled time on TNT. If the game runs long, Dodgers/Nationals will start on TNT, with AEW airing on time and in full on TruTV. This should not affect the tube streams as they should be on the FITE feed which is commercial free as well.

> This Wednesday night, All Elite Wrestling returns to TNT at 8pm EST for another action packed edition of “Dynamite”! Last week fans witnessed the crowning of the very first AEW Women's World Champion when Riho bested Nyla Rose, they saw Cody being tested to his limits by Sammy Guevara, and Jon Moxley made an insane return at the expense of Kenny Omega. And who can ever forget the absolute chaos that unfolded in the aftermath of the main event when the unit consisting of AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz, and the debuting Jake Hager left The Young Bucks, Cody, and Dustin Runnels laid out in the wake of their onslaught. Now all sights are on Boston and The Agganis Arena to see just what will unfold in the aftermath of that assault...

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs. Dustin Runnels & Adam “Hangman” Page
> The first match signed coming out of last week's mugging positions the AEW World Champion Jericho and Guevara against Page and Dustin, and stems from the video seen above. When the attack went down, Page was nowhere to be found and had very little excuse for his absence in helping his Elite brethren. Dustin, on the other hand, was right there to help his brother and The Bucks, even though it ending up with veteran on the receiving end of a Gutwrench Powerbomb across the ringside podium. So consider this a make-good from “Hangman”, as he unites with Runnels, to square off with the man who beat him to claim the AEW World Title and the young upstart Guevara. Dustin's head and heart are in the right place, will Page be the same come Wednesday night?

AEW World Tag Team Title Tournament Quarter-Finals Match: The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)
> The tournament to crown the very first AEW World Tag Team Champions kicks off in Boston with this clash of the Bucks and Private Party. The track record of The Young Bucks in tag team wrestling is historic, capturing championships everywhere they have ever competed and innovating the game at every step. Praises for their pedigree in tag team wrestling could be sung for hours, and many consider them the odds on favorite to win the whole tournament. Yet, after last week, one has to wonder where their heads are at and just how focused Matt and Nick can be on championships when it must feel like they have it coming at them from all angles. Now, Private Party on the other hand, are singularly focused, laser-like, on becoming the very first AEW World Tag Team Champions and having their names hung in the annals of history, alongside Chris Jericho and Riho, as THE FIRST! Isiah and Marq Quen earned their way into a full-time contract with AEW with what they brought to the table at “Fyter Fest”, and this is their opportunity to prove they are the future by knocking The Young Bucks out in the first round of the tournament! And waiting in the semi-finals, set for 10/23 in Pittsburgh, will be the winners of the Lucha Bros/Jurassic Express match...

10/16 World Title Opportunity On The Line
> On 10/8, “AEW Dark” debuted as part of the official All Elite Wrestling YouTube channel , and offered fans an opportunity to see the bouts that were not part of the live “Dynamite” broadcast. As seen above, fans bore witness to Darby Allin defeating the legendary Japanese superstar CIMA in a one-on-one match, and now, in recognition of that victory, Darby Allin will compete in Boston in a match with World Title implications. This Boston bout will be to set the very first challenger for Chris Jericho's AEW World Title in Philadelphia on October 16th! That alone makes for an intriguing bout, but the ante is upped even further because Darby's opponent on Wednesday night will be none other than Jimmy Havoc! The tensions between these two men have been ramping up over the course of the year as AEW headed towards our TNT debut, and now they will have an opportunity to tear into one another on national television with a shot at the World Title up for grabs. Both men have proven themselves willing to put the whole of their bodies on the line to get that win, have demonstrated the ability to survive (or perhaps thrive in) their suffering to accomplish their goals. Now Darby and Jimmy bring that mentality to “Dynamite” as they make their television debuts with, quite possibly, the biggest stakes they have battled over shy of the title itself! Who will move on to Philadelphia to face Jericho?

Singles Match: Shawn Spears vs. Jon Moxley
> As you can read in that above tweet, it is safe to say that Shawn Spears is ready to get on track when he makes his “Dynamite” debut against Moxley this Wednesday night. After dropping that crucial match to Cody at “All Out”, Spears has regrouped and refocused, and is heading onto TNT looking to conquer the world. Moxley, as clearly indicated last week, is squarely set on ruining Kenny Omega at every turn as those two head to a collision at the “Full Gear” PPV event in November. Both Spears and Moxley are intimately familiar with the pressures performing on this level presents, so neither is going to be phased by that fact. It may all come down to which one is more focused on the task at hand, and if Mox can play by the rules. Based on that above tweet, and really based on Mox's history with AEW, that may be the one thing Spears is counting on happening. There's also a possible x-factor...will Omega look for a small piece of revenge on Moxley after having his head driven through a glass table one week ago?

Tag Team Match: AEW World Women's Champion Riho & Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D vs. Bea Priestly & Emi Sakura
> A late breaking match announcement coming on the heels of “AEW Dark” has set a tag team battle pitting the Women's Champion and Baker against Priestly and Sakura. Along with the aforementioned Darby/CIMA bout on “Dark”, fans also witnessed Britt Baker emerge victorious in a tag team bout (with Allie as her partner) over Priestly and her partner that night, Penelope Ford. Although it was Ford who tapped out to Baker in that bout, it does give the Doctor of AEW a level of bragging rights over Priestly. To be fair though, Priestly (with Shoko Nakajima as her partner) holds a “Fight For The Fallen” victory over Baker and Riho. Sakura is also quite familiar with Riho, capturing a victory over her in a July singles contest in Japan, but also working alongside her on a number of occasions. This should prove to one amazing showcase of what the Woman's division of AEW brings to the table!!

Im a bit skeptical about them giving away championship matches on tv. On the one hand it creates momentum for the title which they need badly on the other they shouldnt blow through their roster so quickly, Darby could have an excellent filler defense with Jericho on a ppv later this year after hes established himself more. Will just be another loss as a newcomer this way and he already lost to Cody in his first big match.
Regardless, kill Riho, kill.

You don't need PPV Filler defenses when you run 4 a year. AEW needs to spend time now building up the guys who aren't a house hold name, and a good way to do so is to have them compete and be competitive in matches against the champions

Fair enough, forgot that they don´t go nearly as overboard on ppvs as WWE does with its multitude of brands.

>>6308281
Forgot entirely about Pac too, its a bit stupid as they go with "wins and losses do matter" but Pac would have to win the strap if he were to go against Jericho and its much too early for him dropping the title. Man they really need some other serious accolade that the guys can strive for than just the main championship.

Is this going to be the case every single time Cody or the Bucks win a random match against low card people?

This show badly needs something. It's not bad, but it's not good or memorable either. The only thing I remember from last week was Kenny saving Riho from Nyla, SCU promo from Washington and Swagger debuting though even that's kinda foggy because I don't remember what he did. This ep doesn't feel different from the last. This company badly needs an identity other than being rebellious against WWE and doing the athletic indy style of matches.

UK television let it fly and after awhile cable creators were like why can't we do that especially since the FCC boardcast rules don't apply since people are paying for the service.
It was done here and there with in a limit but South Park were the ones to push the boundaries and took the hit.
Once it was clear that the worst they can do is fine you it was more common. Then it became refined to certain ratings are allowed to drop a swear or two.

I was saying that NYPD Blue got the ball rolling. If people didn't make a big deal about them saying it, South Park doesn't make that episode. I couldn't say when it became widespread. My initial point being that it's always been an option, just not one censors were willing to exercise until NYPD Blue did it. When it was seen as okay for NBC, others were bound to follow.

Jericho with the distant highlight of this show with his promo, Moxley could've been a highlight if you cut his match in half and give him (and this show in general) some promo time. Get a clue. This is going exactly where you think it is going but we just don't know when. Perfect time would be after Cody wins the belt, MJF turns on him and goads him into putting the belt on the line against him, explains how he was using Cody all along etc. Heel 101 stuff. Basic, but still good when well executed. Which is what we are seeing here.

I'm pretty sure this is a Sting/Luger situation. Great dynamic that should be a thing in wrestling in general. Just because you're a heel or face shouldn't mean you're friends with everyone with the same alignment and enemies with everyone on the other side. I get what they are going for, but it is professional wrestling after all. I want some vibrant storytelling. For me, there is great workrate, but little reason for me to get invested.. Still better than last week at least..

I hope Moxley moves on after their match so he can face other people, because Kenny is honestly ruining his segments. You can even hear it in the crowd reactions, Moxley gets an initial huge pop and then it dies down the longer the segment goes on.

This is true but for what they lacked in any genuinely exciting angles or story lines I felt they made up for in the obvious groundwork being laid for multiple angles and feuds to pick up speed in the coming weeks, which does a lot as far as hype of where it's all going. I can understand that the first few weeks after the debut may be slow as they establish characters, relationships and angles starting out of the gate, but they've done a bit towards that in the past two weeks.

Just within the faction feud of 2-week old The Inner Circle vs The Elite they laid the grounds for
> Jericho vs Cody
> Cody vs Sammy
> Hangman vs Hager
> Bucks vs Santana & Ortiz

Outside of that they also have Jericho dealing with Darby Allin on the side. Omega had involvement with his two friends in the Riho/Nia Jax feud that will likely go further while he's also dealing with Mox, while also dealing with PAC (who they hinted may align with Mox) while PAC does on air comments to imply a general "PAC vs the EVPs" angle with him.

Meanwhile there's a lot of subtle storytelling being done within the tag tournament.
The pressure and spotlight on Private Party as they're hyped to be these promising up and comers compared to an early form of the very team they beat last night.
The friendly competitive rivalry between Jurassic Express and SCU that continues to pop up.
Best Friends and Orange Cassidy's overall character development and the interactions with Dark Order.

It's not a big deal, but I just found it funny when Jericho was cutting his promo that as he was putting Hager over as this beast, he misspoke and described his as "terrified".

not a big deal at all. good for a chuckle, but also helps sell the authenticity. between tyson fury's "open mic" monday and then nwa and then jericho last night, the superiority of unscripted promos was laid bare for anybody who had forgotten or who had to grow up soley on wwe's bs.

I think they've done a good job of introducing the wrestlers to a wider audience without overwhelming them with info and rivalries. Like you say, they've laid groundwork for several immediate feuds and rivalries. I wouldn't mind them doing more storyline stuff in the weeks ahead, but I have no problem with them doing a lighter victory lap at this point. They've been incredibly successful with their debut, they deserve a moment to celebrate.

I kinda agree with you there I think AEW should really try and sign Tessa Blanchard.

I think they fact their boyfriends are Adam Cole and Will Osperay really casts a giant shadow on them which they are struggling to get away from

The show does a great job of getting me hyped. I think it's just the slightly different feel of it all.

Wondering where the tag title tournament will go. Hopefully a nice shock and not something boring like the Dark Order being champs. The nonsensical nature of their characters so far is just super irritating.

Also I know everyone here loves Riho a lot but I definitely felt that Britt Baker was the better star and stands out a bit more. Plus she's got a great store.

All in all, I like AEW. It's great.

Don't forget, they also built Jericho vs. Darby for next week and Cody and MJF's friendship/probable eventual feud, and teased a Dustin/Page team. All within one main event segment. It's really refreshing to watch a show that "maximises its minutes" as JR would put it.

I think you're overanalyzing the tag division, but I don't watch the YouTube show and that may have been mentioned. All I got was two teams facing off to win the tournament. Don't get me wrong, its fine, but the problem is that the majority of the roster is the same way.

In ring segments would go a long way. Look how Baron Corbins promos in the tournament made him feel like a big deal. Work rate on AEW is incredible, but there needs to be justification for them risking their bodies.

Good to see you enjoy it. I gave it a shot and wasn't really into it.

They def need more video package to tell who these people are, just for people like you, newcomers or wwe rejects that are startint to watch the show. I dig it bc i saw the BTE when they fought the Private Party in their last Indie date. But they are on weekly tv now, they need to re-present these talents to the audience.

How many were watching the TruTV simulcast?

Either way it was going to drop anyway, not everyone was going to watch past the first show, they were there to see for themselves and if they didn't like it they were going to watch something else.

What are the numbers for NXT, did they rebound?

1,018,000 on TNT. 122,000 on TruTV, according to WO. The fact it stayed above a million viewers, on average, is pretty good. I thought it would drop below a million, but I think it's going to settle around 800k viewers in 3 months time.

NXT:
Week 1 - 1.17 million viewers.
Week 2 - 1.0 million viewers.
Week 3 - 891,000 viewers.
Week 4 - 789,000 viewers.

The biggest drop for NXT is 200,000 viewers, week 2 to week 3.

AEW
Week 1 - 1.4 million viewers.
Week 2 - 1.0 million viewers.

Essentially, without the debut hype AEW was on par with NXT's 2nd week and NXT started with no other show. AEW will most likely drop again, but NXT died when AEW debut and while AEW lost 400,000 viewers, NXT started lower for their week 1 with no competition and lost a total of 300,000 viewers in two weeks. I feel AEW and NXT will both average around 750,000-800,000 viewers and trade wins in a few months time, but it's still early to guess. None of this really matters till February but it's fun to write out. Also, WWE fans, cope.

Kenny took a pretty nasty bump early in the match, which I unfortunately did not get, but it took him a while to get up and people thought he was hurt.

I love Jericho and him talking up everyone else was great. Dude can talk and actually hold your attention. But the we the people jabs took me out of shit. You're a wrestler, don't refer to anything as a "shoot". So your shit just isn't legitimate? And for the love of god, don't ever reference creative. I know it's not a massive deal in the grand scheme but fucking hell, it irks me. Maintain the illusion. And it's weird when the we the people stuff was the only memorable shit he ever did, and Jake "legit MMA fighter #326 when all he did was beat up a fat dude" Hager isn't really a better enough gimmick for ya to throw stones.

I really liked this show. I wasn't sure if I was ready to start watching wrestling weekly again but after this show and NWA tuesday, I'm super aboard the hype train.

Dynamite this week made me a fan of Darby Allin. Dude has this Jeff Hardy aura that no one else has right now. He's so effortlessly cool. I popped so hard when he skateboarded down the ramp and beat Jericho's ass. I probably watched that clip over five times already! This dude is going to be a huge star if AEW plays their cards right.

And Private Party!! I was already liking those guys, however, I didn't get their deal with The Hybrid 2 last week, which made me think that maybe these guys are starting to cool down. I definitely did not expect a huge match and a huge win over The Bucks. They're green but they're awesome. I can't wait to see how they will be in one year.

This show is awesome. It's different from watching WWE and hoping something is good. No, here everything is good and you are on the edge of your seat waiting for something great to happen. Everything is an angle, everything has a payoff. I love it.
