AEW Dynamite is down to 1.018 million from 1.409 million last week. If you combine the 122,000 viewers from the TruTV simulcast, that gets them a total of 1.123 million.

NXT is down to 790,000 from 845,000 last week.

NXT won't die. When WWE and USA Network realise they have to get it away from AEW, it will end up on Thursdays or another day.

Remember, NXT was there first, but NXT isn't helping with things like being confined to Full Sail. Even if someone texted Meltzer 90 minutes into last week's show saying they had to get out that place.

I said last week AEW 's 1.4 would drop to 1.0 this week and everyone called me an Stamford wife.

AEW (like most shows) debuted to a high number, then over the next month or so, ratings are going to slowly decline to the "real" audience. People are still trying to decide if they like the show or not.

The real "Wednesday Night War" isn't going to start for another month or two once both shows' ratings normalize (probably to around 0.75 on average).

Now, I am no mathmetician but if the average age were closer, then it would be sage to assume that the zoomer audience isn't there. But with that gap in viewers cpbined with the gap in average ages, it is very safe to assume AEW skews younger.

Just look at Nolo Kings schtick he gets hateful replies every post whether he's just fucking around or not

Bit suprised that AEW still has such good numbers with the young demo given on how much tv and mic time they give giga boomer Jericho. Hes their best play as a first champ and can carry a show himself but Im a bit worried that theyre banking so much on him as the leader of totallynot nWo. Hes just too old for younger fans to really get a reaction longterm, Im starting to hope that Cody gets the strap at Full Gear.

If AEW wants really good ratings and something like the demo of peak late 90s WWF they need to feature the younger guys much more, or at least characters that can talk and are over as fuck regardless of their age. I could see Cody filling that role but hes upper midcard at best and just doesn´t have IT as much as is needed for their top guy. They should go with either Mox or Kenny, maybe Pac, but they all have been doing fuck all in terms of a storyline as someone going to the top, especially Kenny with his losing streak. The younger guys arent ready either, Page shits the beds completely, Sammy Guevara hasnt found his stride and just awkwardly continues his indy stuff and Darby hasnt talked once or even gotten one segment for himself.
The only guys that remain for potential giga overness are Lucha Bros, which have their trouble with talking, and Orange Cassidy whos already super fucking over and barely has been featured, but how this guy should have a good promo I dont know. Fuck MJF, I dont think hell ever be able to carry himself like an actual star, no matter his mic skills.

Oh and AEW needs to go heavy on MEMES, this bubbly stuff doesnt suffice and its the best way today to get yourself in peoples heads with little effort.

That's a pretty big chunk of people dumping Dynamite. And I think I know why.
I actually thought there was some improvements over the first ep but the general feeling of boredom was still there until the main event. Regardless of what people think about the talent displayed I think everyone needs to admit that the format/pacing of Dynamite sucks. It needs to be faster and there needs to be a bigger variety of segments to keep it fresh. Really needs to step it up with vignettes and special kind of matches.

It takes time for shows to really gain viewers or a following. Some of the biggest shows from the past couple of years gained their following after word of mouth started spreading. With that said, I don't care who beats who or who gets better rating with certain demos. I watch what I like and recommend to friends and family. Let's just enjoy the all the wrestling shows available, enjoy what you enjoy.

0.5 was just a number Dave Meltzer pulled out of his ass. When he was pressed on it, Meltzer said he "talked to TV people."

Actual television journalism outlets (like Variety, Hollywood Reporter, etc) don't release ratings predictions.

/wooo/ doesn't realize that AEW/TNT advertised out their ass for last week. People who still have TV are dumb. They need to be constantly reminded and enticed to watch TV at a certain time on a certain channel. Same thing is gonna happen with Smackdown.

Fox hyped the fuck out of it enough that my friends that never watch wrestling parroted the commercials saying "Smackdown on FOX looks good." It didn't, it wasn't, but FOX repeated it enough times that dumb people were interested in it.

If you tell people that something is good for long enough and they invest time/money in it they just believe that it is good. It is like a combination of brainwashing and sunk cost fallacy. It is really weird and kind of sad. For example, people still think that the new Star Wars movies are/will be good.

It's easy to kill the appeal of anything if the people in charge have no idea what they're doing but have enough money to keep doing it while ignoring criticism.

No one ever talks about this. Especially with the younger generations (Millennials and Zoomers) still living at home with their parents who are exactly in the median age range of wrestling nowadays.

NXT is kind of a shell of its former self regardless in its current state and roster. If anything, they're setting themselves up for failure for a crash and burn level reality check just to try and spite competition, they could only go on to prove that NXT has no stars either.

This is way too true.

Here's a great question, outside of a clear vision and a better focus on storytelling obviously, what's the best way to appeal to the younger generations anymore? The most successful things this decade (especially among young people) are shows that have explicit language, violence, and sex such as Game of Thrones -- which was the last true "water cooler talk" type show, which wrestling used to be at one point.
The irony is what era in pro wrestling also had those things?
I wonder?...

If anything, in a weird way, wrestling like kind of ahead of its time. But everyone wants to do wrestling in a safe approach from storytelling to not wanting to offend anyone.
Wrestling's idea of being topical anymore are dumb things no one cares for or flash-in-the-pan references rather than booking and incorporating real life shit going on into wrestling to get people watching or behind someone.
Mainly because, again, they're afraid to be daring and rock the boat, or potentially offend subset of fans or region, even if said region is doing something shitty.

WWE would NEVER push a talent based on the issues going on in Hong Kong because they value making money in China more than telling a story that would actually attract eyes to their product for doing something so ballsy.

Is it pro wrestling that's on the decline or is it the cable TV business model? Anywhere near a million viewers is pretty good these days honestly. For that kind of business model in 2019 at least. As the boomers with cable subs die off and both WWE and AEW become increasingly niche things will need to evolve. Living and dying by the ratings isn't the future. Having some bloated media company like Turner, Comcast, or Fox give you a bunch of money for a program that will fluctuate in popularity then trying to convince them you'll turn it around is a pretty good scam. But something like the WWE Network will be an even better one in the future.

He's been turdposting all over the front page, don't mind him.

WWE's ratings dips are way ahead of the curve of "cord-cutting" and have been since 2001

If there is a "best way" to make pro wrestling more appealing for younger audiences, hell if anyone knows what it is. I don't even think there is a "best way", or even a wholly "better way" other than better storytelling and quality in-ring action.

I agree but I also can't ignore that it seems like there is a massive lacking of how to hook people anymore.

They need to entice hooking audiences in general to check wrestling out whether it be the first time or the first time in a long time.
Plus there's the fact that creating a new audience ensures you have a sustainable audience to replace for if and when, depressing as it sounds, the older audience is gone.

If there's no audience to really replace the older audience...that's a massive issue in the entertainment industry.

By hooking an audience I don't mean a one off appearance either obviously. That will help short term. Maybe even just the one show only as we all know and have seen. That kind of thing is clearly gotten to the point in WWE where it's equal to putting a band aid on a severed limb.

I'm curious how NXT does on the network the day after. Cause I just wait for it to watch it there, wonder if they find a big difference if they'll make changes to that, like delaying it a week on the network or something.

I'd laugh if it just kills interest in NXT altogether since that company can't do anything right sometimes.

Kinda expected with the MLB Playoffs going on. They'll probably maintain 1 million or dip a little bit as the MLB playoffs go on and the NBA starts back up. Not surprised, but the show continues to be good, and I'll keep watching.

Hmm, who to trust? Meltzer and his sources & contacts in the TV industry or some random faggot on the internet that hasn't talked to anyone other than his mom when he needs more chicken nuggets?

Tough decision.
