>Ken Shamrock out to make an announcement about his future but he was interrupted by Joey Ryan. They will face each other at the tapings on 10/26.
>Petey Williams beat Gandar Singh. The referee was the gentleman who has no legs. A local Windsor news station did a story about him over the summer training at Scott D’Amore’s Can-Am Wrestling School. Singh attacked him after the match but Williams made the save. The referee gave Singh a top rope splash.
>Taya Valkyrie beat Madison Rayne with an assist from John E. Bravo. Jordynne Grace tried to go after Valkyrie after but Valkyrie used Bravo as a defense weapon and Grace beat him up.
>Moose beat Willie Mack.
>Tessa Blanchard, Daga, Tommy Dreamer, and Rich Swann beat OVE in a Street Fight.

>Impact Wrestling TV tapings special “Throwback Throwdown” in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada at Don Kolov Arena on 10/27/19:
>The concept of the show was basically a ripoff of the NWA reboot, WWE’s Southpaw Regional Wrestling, and Olde Wrestling. It was a studio style format. For one night the name of the company was changed to “Impact Provincial Wrestling Federation”. They even had an early 1980s style initials logo hanging up with the letters “IPWF”.
>Don Callis came out doing color commentary dressed like he was rock star Dee Snider. Josh Matthews was Ron Burgundy. Sami Callihan was a manager in a spoof of Jim Cornette.
>I’m told the show stealers were a female stable of Jessicka Havok, Tessa Blanchard, Jordynne Grace, and Alexia Nicole. They came out wearing sunglasses and red and white T-shirts that said “Rough Riders”. The logo design looked like they were supposed to be pre-1984 when pro wrestling T-shirts were very simple and basic in places outside of the WWF, no doubt due to low budgets. Apparently they were supposed to be a female version of the 1980s Four Horsemen. Havok cut a promo similar to what Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard used to do, saying fans could show up to their hotel because they’re always open for business. I’m told Tessa’s facial expressions and body language with the cocky smile and swagger were incredibly reminiscent of her father during the segment.
>This show will air on AXS TV on 11/26/19 at 8pm EST. It seems like it will be fun hearted programming during Thanksgiving Week. Like with Southpaw Regional Wrestling, the wrestlers had alternate names and gimmicks to fit the retro theme.
>The Rough Riders beat The Rascalz when Blanchard got the pin after the Buzzsaw DDT.
>Rich Swann beat Ace Austin.
>Madison Rayne won a match over someone called Agnes Beerheart. Jimmy Jacobs came out to offer Rayne a contract. She signed it but then beat Jacobs up and tore up the deal.
>Kongo Kong returned to the company for this and he did a BodySlam Challenge segment. Someone came out and couldn’t slam him. Then area indie regular Mr. Atlantis came out and couldn’t slam him either. Finally, Brian Cage came out and was able to get the slam for the win.
>[%]Moose beat Joey Ryan (accompanied by Keira Hogan).

>Johnny Swinger beat Buck Gunderson.
>The Deaners beat D-Lo Brown and Fallah Bahh.
>Eddie Edwards beat Gama Singh in a blindfold match.
>Michael Elgin and Mad Man Fulton showed up doing an 80s Russian gimmick and they beat up Scott D’Amore (doing some sort of throwback manager or authority figure gimmick). D’Amore said they would be in a match next week.
>Brian Cage and Aiden Prince beat Michael Elgin and Mad Man Fulton.
>Willie Mack beat Ethan Page to win the International Commonwealth TV Title in the main event which also had a loser leaves town stipulation.

>The injury took place near the end of his match against PCO when PCO came down on him. Lethal moved a bit before impact and his arm took the brunt of the drop.
>In an update to the earlier report about Jay Lethal’s injury, PWInsider is reporting that Jay Lethal was placed in a soft cast and had to delay his flight back to the United States until he was medically cleared to fly after breaking his arm in the UK.

>Last week, we reported the news that Ring of Honor had let their contract with Maria Manic expire. According to Fightful Select and Squared Circle Sirens, ROH has resigned Manic to a one-year deal.

>Fightful was told it was a “good deal,” which would make her a “non-exclusive” contracted employee. Ring of Honor made a smart decision resigning Manic since she just had a private tryout with WWE.

>Hopefully, now that she is back with Ring of Honor, they have plans to use her more often than they did during her previous deal. Manic has yet to make an in-ring debut with the company.

>ROH only used her in a run-in. At Best in the World, she came out to attack members of The Allure —Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, and Mandy Leon. Security stopped her before she could reach them.

Presuming that DeJoseph is taking over the responsibilities of Alex Greenfeld, now that he's been booted.

The biggest drawback with MLW is they're probably working with the smallest budget of all the nationally televised promotions. Don't think we should expect LU-level vignettes.

It's probably good news. These 2nd tier televised wrestling shows like roh, mlw and impact need to do something to make their production not look like minor league aew/WWE. They got the in ring talent, but not the money for the smoke and mirrors to really compete.

If he can attack this from a different angle like he did with LU, it should distinguish mlw from roh and impact and maybe even from AEW and WWE. LU really set itself apart in its production.

i never understood this argument
how do they look like "minor league WWE" when EVERY aspect of their production is done better? and i mean it, skits, video packages, camera work, commentary, none of these may be done perfectly in one way of the other but even in the cheapest company of the bunch being MLW the only thing that would make them feel sorta minor league compared to WWE is the crowd size and the stage not being big enough

ROH is kinda rinky-dink, though. Not as bad as it used to be, but still clearly on a shoestring budget. Which is fine, but makes it hard to pretend they're big league.

Hell, even AEW feels unpolished in a lot of ways compared to WWE. Which in a weird way is a good thing, because at least when AEW does weird cutaways I can tell myself they're just getting started, while WWE shaky cam zoom is the result of 30+ years of wrestling TV production.

>The upcoming AEW World Championship match between Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes is set to include a panel of judges who will determine the winner should it end in a draw.
"AEW today announced a new tiebreaker stipulation for its World Championship title match featuring defending champion Chris Jericho taking on “The American Nightmare” Cody at the FULL GEAR pay-per-view event in Baltimore on Saturday, Nov. 9.

In the event there is no winner at the end of the 60-minute time limit, a panel of three esteemed judges, who will be seated at ringside, must vote for a winner. In the event there is not a unanimous choice, the majority decision will be the winner. This will ensure that a draw will not be the outcome of this World Championship title match."

You think a rinky dink high school gym with a big screen TV with word art entrance videos playing the role of the Titan tron, flat lighting and echoy audio feels big league compared to the 10k+ arenas, cool sets, lights, pro audio mixing, and pyro of WWE and AEW?

If you just like that lo-fi aesthetic, ok, but then nwa powerrr is taking that idea and running with it, creating a unique show, while mlw, roh and impact are just an ersatz copy of WWE and AEW.

The only good parts of WWE's production right now are the video packages and Firefly Funhouse. Everything else can go suck eggs—and that includes the weird-ass framerate change for SmackDown. (I have to wonder if that was a Fox edict.)

Hmm, by this logic, I ought to want to shell out triple figures for a ticket to the biggest 'E show of the year, sit in a seat near the stratosphere, and watch the action on a titantron, because looking at the mat looks like ants.
I could pay 40 bucks, go to a cozy couple hundred strong small venue with a bunch of wrestling fans to see a show up close and personal.
Thanks! I'll be glad to go to that high school gym. They can use the money more anyway, and I don't have to go on a huge hike through a parking lot after the show. You just made my decision clearer.

For MLW Saturday Night SuperFight, Bestia 666 has been added to the Stairway to Hell match with Mance Warner and Jimmy Havoc and Zenshi vs. Hijo de LA Park will be on the Pre-show.

Anyone looking forward to their first PPV tomorrow? Looks like a pretty solid lineup.

Dunno about that.
I've been watching Impact/TNA pretty much every week since '11, when I finally started watching wrestling again. I've seen all the shit, all the reasons to hate it almost constantly, until the past few years. But there's a lot of people who do get into Impact who almost come off like...well, 'e and aew fans who can't take any slights against their brand without putting up the defense shields.

Let it roll off your back. You'll be less stressed and can still be protective, but never mind the haters. Impact's doing okay, okay?

>MLW announced today on their Saturday Night SuperFight PPV that they’ve formed a new partnership with AAA. According to the promo that aired on the show, fans can expect to see crossovers, surprises, and supershows as part of the MLW/AAA alliance.: “We are happy to announce that MLW has now formed a NEW alliance with @luchalibreaaa more info to come out soon!”

>MLW already works with The Crash promotion in Mexico, and AAA already works with AEW.

Going to assume this means the MLW-The Crash partnership is done after one joint show lol.

Also MLW dropped working with AAA because Court Bauer said it was too much of a headache with AEW and Impact all working with them.

So if i got my head wrapped around this week's lucha politics:
CMLL and AAA will never work together.
AAA and The Crash are still enemies.
CMLL was working with The Crash but is now pulling their wrestlers because The Crash is siding with Rush & Dragon Lee.
AAA is working with AEW, Impact and MLW to varying degrees. Impact works with them the most but AEW is the more high profile.
CMLL is partnered with ROH & NJPW
But ROH's world champ is Rush and NJPW wants Dragon Lee full time.

afaik can tell AAA is fine with working with CMLL,
CMLL was able to share Park and the Lucha Bros, but I suspect that's because it's Park and the Lucha Bros and the dawn of Sofia, now I doubt it could happen again.
I don't know how The Crash feels about AAA but AAA _definitely_ hates The Crash. They literally autoblock "The Crash" in the English twitch chat, but not CMLL, Zona 23, or anybody else I've tried.
CMLL is currently allied with ROH and NJPW but their interest in ROH is probably winding down after Rush dipped on them.

>BALTIMORE, Nov. 4, 2019 — Sinclair Broadcast Group (Nasdaq: SBGI) today announced the start of a weekly airing of professional wrestling promotion Ring of Honor (ROH) on its regional sports networks (RSNs). Beginning Friday, November 8, matches will air at midnight in the applicable time zones for wrestling fans who receive from their TV provider any of the 21 RSNs that Sinclair acquired earlier this year and on Marquee when it launches in early 2020. This marks the first original sports entertainment content brought by Sinclair since acquiring the RSNs.

>“The one thing that has always made Ring of Honor so special and able to overcome any hurdle over the past 17 years, is our undeniable commitment to wrestling fans,” said Ring of Honor Chief Operating Officer, Joe Koff. “Gaining distribution in a fixed time every week is a major breakthrough that makes it easier for our audience to find and follow Ring of Honor. We are constantly endeavoring to bring more to our fans, so we are thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our offerings to reach more viewers geographically and offer more programming time for our existing viewers.”

>“This is a significant step for Ring of Honor and the Regional Sports Networks, and we look forward to delivering more original content to our viewers,” said Jeff Krolik, President of Sinclair’s regional sports networks.

Good for them, but unless they're adding to the budget to give their workers a proper wage and security at the events, then it doesn't mean much.

Even so, Riho is supposed to be the ace of the women's division. You should at least tell the fans watching that she's spending X amount of weeks in Japan, and (if possible) build up her opponent at Full Gear who I think is Emi Sakura, and give reasons for people to care about that match.

I can concede that you don't have to make Trent? or Jungle Boy relevant yet, but you should really build Riho (And Adam Page, who seems to be the Exception to the rule) in these crucial early weeks

100% the tag finals should've been on the PPV. they could've spaced out the tourney better, and SCU winning at the PPV is better simply because you can throw it in the middle of the card and protect it instead of having it go last and giving the crowd a sour taste to end the show

Not sure. I see people complain that there aren't enough promos, but I don't want them to cut back wrestling at all or go to a three-hour format, so I'm not exactly sure what could be done. Maybe bump Dark to an hour and a half each week (when it airs; I'm not talking about making the after show longer live) by throwing in some promos? I could get behind that.

Also, Full Gear is on Saturday, not Sunday.

I get what you're saying, but how would you suggest they do more than they're doing with a two-hour show and still give us a good amount of wrestling?

Its my own personal taste, but they need to cut back on the wrestling on Dynamite. I've already seen so much NJPW and ROH and PWG, I'm kinda burned out on the athletic workrate; everything is just consistent good but nothing is standing out.

Here's the conundrum with Dynamite being live and in big arenas: those crowds don't want to sit and watch promos on the TurnerTron but the weekly TV absolutely needs more promos. That was the benefit to pre USA NXT, Impact, MLW and Powerrr being taped: they can edit the in ring package with the vignettes and promos, without ever killing the live crowd's energy.

Have Jim Ross tell us Riho is in Japan for a few weeks. Have a contenders amtch that Emi Sakura can win (Again, if possible. she may have been doing other obligations). RvD is shit now. A fun promo as a heel tho. He needs to look at hanging up his boots or figuring something out. Rhino is stale. Dreamer i like because he legit loves the wrestling business and ppl love him backstage and he never gets too involved in storylines.

Shamrock should probably get out of the ring soon too. I dont mind these old dudes on impact because they are not the center piece of the show and guys like shamrock deserve a bit of love but they have reached old guy capacity and rvd stinking up matches sucks

can we talk a second about Tessa vs Sami for Hard To Kill? because seeing the recent booking, i dont know, there's something very off about it
it feels too predictable, this is supposed to be the rubber match between two guys that have feuded for months, Tessa can't afford to lose, but at the same time i have a hunch something will happen and she'll be out of the world title picture eventually
Impact doesn't book stuff to be this predictable usually, so i don't expect her to win the title because it feels too obvious, but i also can't see this feud going any further after this match and it would be a waste to throw Tessa's push away like that
i don't know, i guess we'll have to see where this goes
Pokka !!4vMEXnV5 - Sun, 10 Nov 2019 07:45:10 EST M1ahJWky No.6324030 Reply
I know what you mean, but sometimes you just have to go with the predictable story and it works, in fact you could argue that the last time WWE did anything of artistic merit was when Bryan won the title at wrestlemania for instance. It might even be the case that the predictable unpredictability will do a full circle and the "predictable" booking will be the unpredictable.

The problem is, whether she wins or loses is what do afterwards. If she loses, does she go back to the KO division? Is she wins, who does she fight? Will we even get a situation where two women are fighting for the World title (I admit that might even be a unique selling point that gets people talking about Impact)?

Sami is really the perfect foil for her at this point. He's like an 80s streetgang movie villain and it's that villainy that makes tessa'a chase great. But what do you do when she's won the title, and will the sympathy towards her translate into support as a fighting champion?

Let it go. Disengage with negative people who want to derail threads. The posts Kirt and Celt made in the sticky are on point. Shitting up threads arguing with people like that and following trips/userids around has ruined a lot of threads. Engaging in it makes you just as bad.

Flamita has signed a one year deal with Ring of Honor
>Flamita has signed a one year deal with US promotion Ring of Honor. He’s expected to start on their 12/13 Final Battle PPV. Hugo Savinovich mentioned a rumor of Flamita signing during today’s AAA show. I can confirm that rumor is correct, Flamtia has indeed signed with ROH.

>Flamita debuted in Ring of Honor about a month ago, as an injury replacement for Mexablood partner Bandido. The substitution got a positive reaction for the promotion, Flamita impressed in his matches, and Ring of Honor seems to be on an annual autumn contract drive. Fellow guest wrestlers Dan Maff similarly did well in his return to Ring of Honor, who quickly signed him. The same concept seems to apply with Flamita: ROH liked what they saw and are motivated to make moves.

>This contract is a significant career achievement for Flamita. A wrestler who was once considered too small for CMLL now has a deal with a US promotion. It isn’t technically Flamita’s first deal with a US group – a short stint with Lucha Underground ended unhappily, and this one can only end up better. It does mean some changes. Flamita has been a frequent guest wrestler in Dragon Gate since 2013. As best I know, that will come to an end for now and Ring of Honor will be top priority.

>MLW and Impact both came up this past year as Flamita destinations in 2019. He did appear in both, but no deal was signed. Flamita wrestles in AAA but seems to be a freelancer there as well. ROH officially has an alliance with CMLL in Mexico but has not stood in the way of their wrestlers working AAA when CMLL hasn’t been interested in them. In practice, Bandido worked a lot less with AAA once ROH bookings took over, though he returns to the promotion later this month.

>Flamita signing with Ring of Honor does not guarantee Bandido will re-signing with ROH; that’s still a possibility, just nothing was decided last I’ve heard. It’s a positive for Bandido to see ROH sign his tag partner and close friend Flamita, but they’re making their deals individually.

I just watched Being The Elite and I really hope AEW talks about some things tomorrow.

  1. Hangman Page said he is splitting from the elite because he is sick of being the worst one. Going solo for now
  2. Marty tease in a picture at the end of the video.
  3. Kenny Omega is NOT over it
  4. Bucks are punished saying "this is supposed to be fun uWu"
  5. Some Librarian shit I don't understand

So this goes to one of the critiques of AEW and that is "BTE" should not be required viewing. I barely ever catch but when I do I end up finding out about characters and storytelling that should be talked about on the main show. I hope a commentator mentions that Page is going solo. Even if it's just a passing thing on commentary during a Hangman match or entrance. That's a fairly big plot point. The rest isn't as important but still.

I see the reasons for each company to have it's own steel cage, but there would be plenty of problems with that , that we already see here, it won't change.
People will come to the threads for each company, tell them they suck ass, and shat just might be flung.
We're monkeys about that kind of thing already.
Why give people who like different promotions their own thread? Maybe AEW, if it sticks around long enough.
Impact/ROH/Indie/Puro already know where to go, and have their own threads, kindasorta.
Lots of people think that having their own thread will be some kind of superiority, when it actually just paints targets on their backs. Put the ego down and enjoy your ride, where ever that ride takes you.

>Ring of Honor has reportedly decided to let Women of Honor Champion Kelly Klein go. Klein’s husband BJ Whitmer posted to Twitter to confirm that ROH COO Joe Koff fired Klein on Tuesday evening via email. Whitmer noted that Klein is still suffering from Post-Concussion Syndrome; you can see his post below, as well as the original post by Joey Mercury in which he shared the email.

>Klein allowed Joey Mercury to release emails between her and ROH General Manager Greg Gilleland at the beginning of the month which shows that she was making $24,000 a year and suggested all female talent in the company had to be paid the same amount. She also confirmed that ROH does not have a current concussion protocol in place and said that she “didn’t bring issues up publicly before. I was afraid for my job and the jobs of my colleagues. I don’t want to take away their place of work. I want to make their place of work better and safer.”

>In the email as shared by Mercury, Koff says:
“Dear Kelly,
Thank you for your email the other day and I’m glad that you are getting treatment for your injury.
As you have known over the years in Ring of Honor, we always take any injury very seriously and have supported many through their recoveries.
That does not change here for your health is of the utmost importance.
However, there were important things unrelated to your injury that we haven’t really had a chance to discuss, and perhaps we probably should have when you came to Baltimore, but I was more interested in what you had to say.
What I did not hear though was any remorse for what transpired up to that point. I was really hoping to hear some acknowledgement about wanting to move past the actions that you had taken, that have hurt the company.
The company is firm that pursuant to your contract, section 15 — you have breached out existing agreement sharing confidential documents with another contractor [assumedly Mercury], who used the material to defame and slander the company and one of its key officers, Greg Gilleland. You also used your social media presence to help this contractor’s twitter account gain traction, and to validate his claims, which further your involvement in these actions. This was painful to watch.
Personally, I have always appreciated the level of open communication we have had with our talent, and the ability to approach Greg or I anytime you had an idea or thoughts to improve any aspect of the company.
So despite the clear breach of your contract and ethical requirements, I still appreciate the time you have spent with ROH. Therefore, rather than pursue the breach which would terminate our existing agreement right now and enact a 6 month non-compete, I have decided to let your current agreement continue as it is and then expire at the end of the term. Also at this time, we are choosing not to continue with our ongoing negotiations that began in July. We will follow up with written correspondence outlining the same.”

>Ring of Honor has issued a statement to PWInsider about Kelly Klein’s departure from the company, as seen below:
“We don’t generally discuss personal issues but they seem to have made it public – we didn’t fire [Kelly Klein], we just notified her that we would not be renewing her contract.”

>Major League Wrestling (MLW®) and former World Heavyweight Champion “Filthy” Tom Lawlorhave agreed to a new exclusive multi-year agreement.

>Joining the league with its seminal return in 2017, Lawlor has emerged as one of the most respected and popular wrestlers in the league, dethroning Low Ki in February to win his first World Heavyweight Championship at SuperFight.

“We went into extra innings to get this done,” said Court Bauer, MLW CEO Court Bauer. “Tom’s talent, passion and leadership are second to none. We’re all beyond pleased to have his continued presence in MLW for years to come.”

“After months and weeks of trying to figure out the next step in my career, I have come to the conclusion that indeed there is no place like home, and no where that I would rather continue to swing for the fences than in Major League Wrestling,” said Tom Lawlor. “I’m happy to announce that myself and management have come to terms that will keep me in the ring with the top talent, wrestlers, and fighters under the MLW banner. While I was able to reach the peak of the mountain and become world champion in the past, I have since realized that there are entire new ranges for me to conquer and I look forward to getting to the summit alongside the fans and supporters of MLW. Yeah? What do you think I was getting at with "2016-2018"?

Bryan tweeted that Taeler had requested her release instead of the claim that she was "fired" for not wanting to sleep with Lethal. And if you check Taeler's twitter, she initially thanked ROH as she left, so something wasn't adding up in that story.
ACH's promo against ROH after leaving was mentioned, at the very least. I wouldn't know about Ciampa and Cedric's issues tbh.

Thats kind of the point tho - sometimes Bryan & Dave will just regurgitate a company line even if something doesn't add up. But then they (justifiably) scrutinize anything that comes out of WWE's mouth.

Look at how much shit Dave got for not taking WWE's depiction of Roman's cancer treatment at face value. He clearly has the capacity for scrutiny - he just doesn't apply it all the time.

Taeler's side is what seemed to be questionable. Why would she thank a company as she's leaving and then try to claim she was "fired"?

Especially when her "proof" was a harmless text message.

Gabe has been eternally butthurt about getting fired from ROH, it's nothing new.

People did complain about 2008 ROH but they had every right to: Just having a great roster isn't enough. WWE in 2019 has a great roster, but having the people isn't enough, you have to use them properly.

Gabe still had a good roster but the transition from 2006/2007 to 2008 was pretty stiff with a lot of their main eventers leaving while a lot of their up and comers weren't over yet. Yeah they had Steen and Generico and Tyler Black but those guys were nowhere near as over as CM Punk or Samoa Joe at that stage of their careers, and it would take them a good few years to get on that level.

They lost Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness, Homicide, Samoa Joe and a host of others in quick succession. They need to make new stars fast but instead Gabe brought back Jerry Lynn to be ROH Champion, trying to do something based off "The Wrestler" film .

It was a rough period overall and not all of it was Gabe's fault but he make mistakes himself, which he's never admitted to.

It's not just Riho that's still working in Japan while a champ for AEW, either: Jericho is booked for Wrestle Kingdom 14 and it seems doubtful that he'll drop the strap before then. The difference is that Jericho is full-time for AEW, while Riho is apparently only part-time.

Yeah, I don't mind that Statlander still has showings at Beyond or Mox and Jericho are going to be involved in NJPW. But if Moxley does G1, they should probably take the belt off him before then. If you're not a full-timer in AEW, you shouldn't have a title in AEW. That's only related to whether you work other shows if and when they interfere with wrestling in AEW.

Here's some ROH news tidbits from this week's Eck's Files:

>The Final Battle pay-per-view, which takes places Friday, Dec. 13 at Baltimore’s UMBC Event Center, has been extended to four hours, and ROH is offering the first hour to all fans for free. “Final Battle Hour One” airs live at 7 p.m. Eastern on Ring of Honor Wrestling Facebook Live, FITE TV and all major cable and satellite operators. The pay-per-view portion of Final Battle, which also streams live for HonorClub, begins at 8 p.m. ROH is presenting “Final Battle Hour One” as a thank you to its fans for their support and to show everyone why it’s still the “best wrestling on the planet.”

>Two matches have just been added to what is already a loaded Final Battle card. In tag team action, Dalton Castle and Joe Hendry will take on Silas Young and Josh Woods, who are now known as Two Guys, One Tag. Also, former tag partners Rhett Titus and Kenny King will meet in a grudge match.

>Titus versus King was originally scheduled for Final Battle Fallout in Philadelphia at the 2300 Arena on Sunday, Dec. 15, but Titus said he’s waited long enough to get his hands on King. He asked the ROH Board of Directors to move the match to Final Battle, and his request was granted.

>Former WCW star Crowbar has been signed for Final Battle Fallout in Philadelphia. It will be his first appearance in ROH since 2012.

>It appears unlikely that Brody King will be medically cleared to compete during Final Battle weekend. King, a co-holder of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles with fellow Villain Enterprises members PCO and Marty Scurll, has been out of action since suffering a knee injury during the Honor United UK tour in late October.

>Look for some talented male and female international competitors to make their ROH debuts early next year.

Also Maria Manic will make her ROH in-ring debut at Final Battle against Angelina Love and Teddy Hart will probably be there too.

With King injured and Scurll possibly on his way out, they'll probably have Scurll/PCO/Flip (filling in for Brody) drop the titles or just vacate them.

>We are told there will be meetings this week in Los Angeles that will have a big impact on the future of MLW if all goes well.

>There will be an announcement later today regarding the promotion's 2/1/20 return to Philadelphia at the 2300 Arena.
>Tickets for the promotion's 7/16/20 return to the Melrose Ballroom in NYC will go on sale this Friday.

>Dave Sahadi was at this past Thursday's MLW taping working on production, as he does regularly. Sahadi recently announced a full-time return to Impact but is doing double duty working for MLW.

>The Opera Cup event was very much seen as a success internally. It will be an annual event for the company going forward. Harry Smith gifted possession of the Cup to MLW over the summer. The 104 year old trophy was restored by Betteridge Jewelers of Greenwich, CT with the promotion receiving it back the dat after Thanksgiving following a three-month restoration process.

>The promotion was thrilled with international coverage the event received in Japan via Weekly Fight, specifically thanks to photos from the legendary George Napolitano, who was shooting ringside.

>MLW's Court Bauer had a a lot of praise for Brian Pillman Jr coming out of the tournament as it was the first time Pillman had to work three matches in one night. Pillman was exhausted and pretty beaten up after the tournament final. Bauer felt the night was Pillman's "breakout moment" within MLW and that he ascended to the next level with his performances.

>American Top Team were backstage at the show.

>Alicia Atout received rave reviews from the production crew and talent who worked with her. MLW is very happy with her work thus far.

>As noted over the weekend, MLW has removed all mention of ACH from their website so as to not false advertise him after ACH lashed out online at fans and claimed to be retiring. He is featured in one bout that was taped last week in NYC for MLW TV, but whether it airs remains to be seen.

>MLW has added Capitol Wrestling co-founder Matt Ryan to its producer ranks.
>The promotion announced that Ryan will be joining MLW's front office as a producer and coordinator within its office of wrestling operations. Ryan has also worked for Ring of Honor in the past as well.

"Major League Wrestling today announced that Matt Ryan has joined the league as a producer for the production arm of the company and coordinator within the office of wrestling operations.
“I’ve known Matt for some time and his hard work, passion and talent are exceptional,” said MLW CEO Court Bauer. “We look forward to Matt’s contributions for years to come in the league.”
>Ryan, will work in the front office overseeing a variety of responsibilities.
>Prior to joining MLW, Mr. Ryan co-founded the popular Capitol Wrestling organization and worked for Ring of Honor and Jim Ross’ one man shows.
>Ryan is known for his keen eye for talent, directing/producing as well as his contributions on the logistics/strategics front. Beyond his work behind the scenes Ryan has also served as a broadcaster in radio, digital and on television.
>In addition to his work in professional wrestling, Ryan has worked extensively in other combat sports, including MMA.

Now here's Ian Riccaboni is throwing shade at Matt Ryan by revealing he didn't last in ROH because he showed up to meetings with Sinclair in his pajamas

And if you believe Twitter rumors, Matt Ryan wanted to book Rude Boy Riley for Capitol Wrestling after he got busted for child porn in an attempt to rehab his image

Report: Colt Cabana Finished With ROH Following Final Battle 2019
>Final Battle 2019 was the last Ring Of Honor show for Colt Cabana, according to a report by John Pollock of POST Wrestling. Reportedly, this exit has been known internally by Ring Of Honor since September.

>This was the third stint in the company for the Ring Of Honor original. Originally joining shortly after the promotion's inception in 2002, Cabana would leave in 2007 to sign with WWE.

>After a less-than-stellar run in WWE as Scotty Goldman, Cabana would return to the promotion in late 2009, and stick around until mid-2011.

>During his time away, Cabana would win the NWA World Championship two times and continue to grow his podcast, the Art Of Wrestling to new heights before returning again in 2016. During this most recent run with the promotion, Cabana was mostly used as a color commentator alongside Ian Riccaboni but he would occasionally wrestle and even briefly turned heel on Dalton Castle.

>At Final Battle 2019, Cabana would face Alex Shelley for the first time ever. Shelley would call out Cabana respectfully on the pre-show of the pay-per-view saying that the two had never wrestled and Cabana was one of the better wrestlers of their generation and he would like to have some of the traditional Ring Of Honor style on the pay-per-view. Ultimately, Shelley would win in the end.

>This has been a year of change for Cabana. Not only is his current run in Ring Of Honor coming to an end but earlier this year, he also ended his long-running podcast after almost a decade.

>Colt has been busy in other promotions. He recently competed in New Japan Pro-Wrestling's World Tag League Tournament alongside Toru Yano, and is the current NWA National Heavyweight Champion. He will defend that championship at NWA's Into The Fire pay-per-view on Saturday, December 14 against Ricky Starks and Aaron Stevens.

>Dave Sahadi is done working for Major League Wrestling as a Director after he signing a deal to return to Impact full-time. Sahadi had worked the last MLW TV taping and the belief within MLW was that he would be allowed to work both promotions, but that is not the case. As you might imagine, there's some unhappiness and resentment on the MLW side over this, blaming Impact for "pulling" Sahadi.

>Ricky Martinez, who had been part of Salina de la Renta's Promociones Dorado, announced on social media he had asked for and given a release from Major League Wrestling. Sources within the promotion dispute this, claiming Martinez was let go by the promotion.

Exclusive: Impact Investigation Involving Work Place Sexual Harassment
>Wrestling News World has learned that a top management official within Impact wrestling was under internal investigation, stemming from a myriad of claims including sexual harassment within the workplace.

>The Impact official, who at press time shall remain anonymous, was accused of both sexually harassing a former talent within the company. Claims that contract extension clauses were used as leverage to ensure the accusers would sign Non-Disclosure Agreements in an attempt to keep everything inhouse and quiet have surfaced. (Contract claims were admittedly dismissed by Anthem) One of the accusers/Talent involved in the situation was granted their release by the company as opposed to having their contract extended. Out of respect for this on-going delicate investigation all identities have been withheld.

>A full internal investigation was to be conducted on this emerging situation over the past few weeks. When approached for comment AXSTV informed Wrestling News World that, "We do not comment on internal matters." Anthem Sports Representatives did confirm to me the following "Anthem confirms that an allegation of inappropriate behavior by a member of the Impact Wrestling executive team was made by a former talent, but not until many months after the talent had been released. These allegations played no part in the decision by Impact Wrestling to release the talent.

>Once the allegation was made, Anthem engaged an external human resources consultant to conduct an investigation, who retained independent counsel for advice on the matter. An inquiry was held in consultation with the complainant and the allegations were proven to be completely without merit. The matter is closed. No disciplinary action was deemed necessary and none was taken."

IMPACT is the most watched wrestling show in the UK. They have TV deals all over the world. NJPW would benefit greatly from that over whatever tf they currently have with ROH. You can understand them having their reservations about working with IMPACT, but holy shit I doubt they were planning on having Johnny Swinger bury Okada fgs.

You can call it petty dropping them completely but if IMPACT own the network they're not gonna give NJPW and whoever they partner up with (possibly MLW?) coverage and exposure. That would be dumb.

Is it still though, with AEW also on free TV?

NJPW has been bad with business in American for a decade now. The only reason they got over was because of a fluke with the Elite getting popular. They've already lost loads of american fans after The Elite left and now they lost their television station.

I'm sure they will be fine but this whole thing is stupid and for once isn't Impacts fault.

>NJPW does not need Impact.
this is true. And also

NJPW has quietly dropped ROH and is still mad at Kenny Omega.

Feel like its worth posting the follow up tweet:
>New Japan assumed AXS were going to give them the boot...when their deal ended at the start of 2021. They figured they had that year to find a new US TV deal.

NJPW dropped their existing partner, dropped their biggest Western draw and were willing to their US broadcaster "no" and were already getting ready to leave.

They're not a "victim" and seem ready to go it alone in the US.

>MLW owner Court Bauer has commented on the reported story of an impending MLW partnership to be announced soon. As previously reported, MLW is said to have a major partnership in the works that involved Bauer meeting with possible TV and licensing partners in Los Angeles over the past several weeks.

>Reached for comment by PWInsider, Bauer confirmed that the impending deal will be “transformative” for MLW in both short and long term aspects.

>There are no further details on what the deal is at this time. MLW has been airing on BeIN Sports since April of 2018.

the rumor on twitter and readit is that MLW is moving to POP TV and the Paramount Network aka the former Spike TV which is part of the Viacom TV empire that Pop is under, has bought an ownership stake in MLW

New Japan was establishing footholds within the US before The ELITE were even a thing.

Seems more like it's NJPW fans that are mad that they can't blow off their US TV network's requests without consequences. NJPW was turning down Cuban and AXS' s efforts to get more involved. The only difference is now AXS' has a cheaper alternative to run with if NJPW doesn't want to play ball.

If NJPW wants to drop ROH and Kenny Omega, block their part time Americans from working Impact and were planning on leaving AXS' in 2021, they're not really victims in this situation.

FYI Kevin Kelly did an interview for WK and talked about this

at 2:30:50.

Anthem had the option to pick up NJPW for 2020 but chose not to because they didn't want to continue paying the rights fee that cuban's AXS was paying. Per Kevin Kelly: >"If you think about it, why should they? They own impact. Why would they pay for another wrestling show to be on their network? It just came down to dollars and cents, that's all it was"
>"There's nothing on the horizon in terms of pending TV deals"

I can't decide if moving to Pop would be good or bad for MLW. One one hand, Pop is probably in more homes than BeIN Sports, but nobody watches it. Pop is the old TV Guide Channel (minus the scrolling TV Guide) so most basic cable packages automatically have it, but I don't think most people even know what Pop is let alone watch it. For example, Pop's biggest show (by a fucking mile) is Schitt's Creek. Most people in the US weren't even aware of Schitt's Creek until it was put on Netflix a year or two ago.

the main thing I remember about Impact's tenure on Pop (as far as Pop's existence mattered in it) was that time it was that ad for That 70s Show and a commercial or two for 45 minutes straight
Vito Thomaselli - Sat, 04 Jan 2020 14:42:31 EST dYhrmb6W No.6343842 Reply
That was Pursuit that went to commercial and never went back to the show, not Pop. And it definitely wasn't for 45 minutes, it was like 7. They went to commercial in the middle of the main event and never aired the final act of the show.

Yeah, but it's not like the Schitt's Creek audience is suddenly going get into MLW.

>During the outage, Pop TV aired the same three show promos over and over (That 70’s Show, Celebrity Name Game, and Impact Wrestling). At the 14-minute mark, Pop finally kicked out of that loop and into a Dominos Pizza commercial, followed by a few more regular commercials.
it wasn't 45, but it was pop, and it wasn't 7
I think pursuit had its own thing similar?

In theory, this is a nice idea but its a little eyebrow raising to run a free show in the same building as Final Battle 6 weeks later. (And also that they just put FB up for free on youtube)

it was on my to do list for a while, so i finally caught up with some of the latest episodes of MLW

its a decent show, the booking is very basic, but in a good way, feels like a weekly super indie with that roster and presentation
commentary is also good, competent and not too invasive

i get the lack of buzz around it, lack of audience and groundbreaking angles will do that, but it's still a nice way to spend a hour imo

There doesn't seem to be much buzz for Hard to Kill. It looks fine on paper but apart from Tessa/Sami and Trey/Ace, there's not much build going on. I'm sure the tag match will deliver and Madman/Shamrock is going to be.. Interesting but its not the most exciting card. Usually those PPVs are the ones that end up delivering, but I'm not hype like I usually am.

Be interesting to see where they go next though. I like Tessa, but hoping Moose or Elgin end up with the strap by the end of the year. Not particularly interested in a Mack or Swann turn, but we'll see. Feel like we could do with some fresh additions, at least in the tag team scene. Hoping they do something with Daga too.

Fulton vs Shamrock and MOOSE vs Rhino are the only bouts I found lame, the rest of the card looks great but yeah it's lackluster in comparison to previous pay per views.

I think Tessa is gonna be a transitional champion and Sami will win the title back next pay per view.

Yeah well Wrestle Kingdom and Lana/Rusev getting married overshadowed Hard To Kill the past few weeks. Not to mention Impact took a few weeks off and did clip shows for the holidays. I'm hyped but yeah it hasn't been super pushed lately.

Tessa Vs Sami and Trey Ace are the matches to look for. The North Vs Mack/Swann should be okay as well.

Dallas was AXS headquarters, and the reason they ran Dallas for Slammiversary was to announce buying the network that weekend (before the sale got delayed)

Also apparently some of the AXS people that got laid off in the sale, quietly got rehired before BFG, so maybe they have an easy base of operations in the city? https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/exclusives/fightful-wrestling-weekly-1014

>As previously reported, there has recently been talk of some big news breaking regarding MLW and a major partnership.

>Wrestling Inc. has been able to confirm with sources close to the situation that there is interest in MLW from Showtime. We do not currently have any other specifics.

>While Showtime has not aired any wrestling programming, they have had interest in the genre in the past. The network was in talks with AEW just last year.

>We reached out to MLW, who had no comment.

>Former WWE producer Court Bauer founded MLW as a wrestling promotion in 2002. MLW returned in 2011 as a radio network, which featured popular podcasts from Bill Prichard, Tony Schiavone and Eric Bischoff.

>MLW relaunched as a wrestling promotion in 2017. Just one year later, they signed a television deal with beIN Sports, where they air on Saturday nights. They also have a deal with FITE TV for streaming content.
