>Watch AEW Full Gear starting with The Buy In at 7:30pm EST / 12:30am GMT followed by the PPV at 8pm EST / 1am GMT in /wooo/tube - http://taima.tv/r/wooo and /wooo/alt - http://taima.tv/r/woooalt
>Before the show, watch Countdown to Full Gear at 6:45pm EST / 11:45pm GMT in /wooo/alt.

When All Elite Wrestling was last on PPV for All Out, the show marked the final AEW card that was presented prior to the era of AEW Dynamite. Now, with the benefit of weeks of TV building to this event, AEW returns to PPV for their fifth-ever major card and last scheduled PPV of the year, “Full Gear.” Named after one of the running gags from Being the Elite, Full Gear features the first defense of the newly crowned tag team titles, a huge world title bout with even bigger significance, two of the company’s hottest feuds finding headway and a women’s championship that could very well be the match of the night. Here's the lineup for the show:

*Lights Out Match: Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega

AEW World Championship Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Cody
In the event there is no winner at the end of the 60-minute time limit, a panel of three judges at ringside must decide a winner. In the event there is not an unanimous decision, the majority decision will be the winner. In addition, if Cody loses, he will never challenge for the AEW World Championship again.

Tag Team Match: The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. Proud-N-Powerful (Santana & Ortiz)

AEW Women's World Championship Match: Riho (c) vs. Emi Sakura

Three Way Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship: SCU (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) (c) vs. Lucha Bros (Fenix & Pentagon Jr.) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

Singles Match: "Hangman" Adam Page vs. PAC

Singles Match: Joey Janela vs. Shawn Spears w/ Tully Blanchard

The Buy In Match: Britt Baker vs. Bea Priestley

One the Bucks says they'll be a new set for the PPV. It's a little thing, but PPV-exclusive sets are something sorely missed from WWE shows.

Everything is totally set up for Cody to win the title and Jericho to save face and be justified in claiming a false victory. The judges screwed him. AEW brass (i.e. Cody) picked the judges. He took the title from him on his birthday.

Not massively excited outside of Omega vs Moxley. Jericho and Cody should be good. When was the whole judge thing added though? Don't think I'm on board with that as a concept, whether it comes into play or not.

He says that and just watch as it'll just be a few gears on the current set.

There's nothing really wrong with the current set, other than it looking a little dated and resembling TNA from a decade ago. But it's better than LED screens everywhere like WWE.

Pic is from Fyter Fest, the same set just got themed up a little.

Anyway if people want to watch this not on PPV they better show up in the tubes in good time, and be ready for any Nate Glass stream takedown nonsense. He will never give up.

Sounds like some strange unneeded booking there. This just guarantees that the match is going a full 60 just so they can use the judges.

Give Cody some big "you couldn't beat him but the judges are giving you the win" moment.

There’s no way it goes 60, either one of the judges will be a distraction for someone to win (eg MJF turns on Cody) or they’re only doing it to set up for big title matches so that the stipulation exists

It doesn't that would be just way too obvious. it just warns you that it can happen in the future though which I'm sure it will at some point. Plus I don't even think Jericho is capable of going the full 60 without dying.

Gatoh Move superfan Kenny Omega is perhaps the best version of him.

I still can't make out whether this is some kind of marketing synergy where they promote things on all platforms, or if he's making up for the fact that this kind of stuff is what should be on the tv program.

I feel bad that Riho hadn't really been featured much on Dynamite given how over she is and they did the #1 Contenders match on Dark although I don't mind them doing that kind of stuff on their B-show. I suppose Kenny is trying to make up for the lack of TV time given especially for the student vs. teacher backstory.

I typically hate deathmatches because they're these high violent matches with no point. Two guys just taking turns hitting themselves on the head with glass for ten minutes then fumbling a simple suplex into more glass at the end.
This was Mox and Kenny having too much pride to quit and rather dying than giving in.

Cody and Jericho was a great WCW match. A ton of story and build up for MJF as a heel while still making Inner Circle look like a strong stable.

You want to talk about botches it's a bad cut that doctor will be on hand to save you from vs forgetting to tuck your chin or rolling an ankle trying to land on your feet from that height. Anyone mad about that Omega/Moxley match needs to breathe and watch some Attitude Era hardcore matches. This company has brought me back into the wrestling fold after like 5 years. Puro never did it for me, and WWE has just made me jaded. Even if this PPV wasn't 5 stars across the board, it was better than any other major American brand at the moment, and the last two matches were both 5 stars in completely different styles of wrestling. AEW has me excited again.

Did Cody say he would never have another title match, or did he specifically say he would never challenge for another title match? Semantics matter, and if its the latter it means a champ could still offer Cody his opportunity.

Really enjoyed that card, more than I expected. That head cut on Cody looked fucking painful, what was he thinking doing that jump.

Loved Omega/Moxley, both of them looked 1 million bucks coming out of that, it was literally 2 men refusing to give up no matter what, I was worried it'd get interferences and turn into a clusterfuck, but that was perfect.

Excited for Dynamite next week, but just wish it was on at a better time in the UK

I'm trying to like AEW. I really want there to be an alternative with a chance to take down the WWE juggernaut. But it sucks. The basic storytelling is weak. The character presentation is awful. The show pacing is miserable, with every match going 15+ and seemingly being told to steal the show with at least a couple crazy bumps and a million nearfalls. Its indy. It will never draw the casuals it needs to thrive unless some major adjustments are made. I'm giving them two more weeks to see if anything changes after getting their first PPV out of the way, then I'm done with Dynamite.

Anyway, I was one of the ones in the camp that enjoyed the main event. Can see why it wasn't everyones thing though, mostly just felt overlong to me more than "taking things too far", if anything.

I watched with a no wrestling friend last Wednesday and he was hooked so we watched Full Gear together.
He loved the main event (was behind Cody the whole match), hated MJF's for turning on Cody, he absolutely LOVED Riho and to my surprise he liked Shawn Spears a lot. Thought SCU were geeks, and he didnt like the "Bad Boy" nickname for Joey Janela. He thought Moxley vs Omega was insane and he told me "i'm never gonna forget this". Remember him praising The Young Bucks (Specifically the one that was injured) and he also liked PAC a lot.
Seems like aew got a new fan out of him.

Not the best PPV I ever watched, but still really fucking good. The fact I felt rewarded for buying this show after following their TV is kind of sad, because it should be the standard. Payoff in the tag matches. Payoff for the PAC/Page series. Logical escalations of other feuds. It's almost as if booking wrestling is really fucking easy!

My only real complaint was that the women's stuff felt like it didn't really have much going into it. The Riho match needed Kenny Omega out of nowhere to explain it, good as it was. Britt Baker still feels like Kelly Kelly 2.0 and really needs to work women who can carry her if they want her to be their next big star. Put half as much effort into your top women as you do your male midcarders.

There is a place for hardcore matches with good workers, just like the top guys in FREEDOMS, and the DTU and BJW Death divisions are good workers who also incorporate deathmatch spots or match stipulations.

AEW don't need to go full deathmatch, the spiderweb went a step too far for them probably, but the rest was fine. Even the mouse traps, while silly, is more fun than something like Lego in my opinion, no sillier than a fucking broom covered in barbed wire.

I mean if you're into some shit like GCW where they're always trying to kill themselves of course it's going to be tame. It's a bit different when it's a recently released WWE star and one of the most overhyped wrestlers in the world doing it on the PPV of a major promotion in front of a real crowd. It might not be the most hardcore thing that ever existed but it's surely the most hardcore thing I've seen at this level. It pushed the envelope for mainstream wrestling, but obviously not wrestling as a whole.

Taking a bump onto mousetraps (which hurt like a bitch and make good snapping noises) and getting barbed wire dragged over your back isn't nearly the same levels of hokey as anything Mox did in WWE. None of that shit is "little red wagon full of plunder" level.

More importantly, neither of those things were part of Moxley's gimmick. They were part of Kenny's.

Think Ciampa/Gargano was really effective, as well. The hanging DDT on the wood looked like death. It just didn't have anyone phoenix splashing face first into the boards, which seems to be most peoples "fucking WHY?" moment. Mostly cause of worry Kenny killed himself. And anything but dropping someone on the boards seems a little pointless logically, since you landing on them wouldn't hurt significantly worse than if the ring were covered.

I'd give the PPV a 5/10. Mostly okay matches. Kong's surprise appearance, the storytelling in Cody/Jericho (including the post-match dick-kickery), and the Mox/Omega main event saved the show from being complete trash.

>>6324423
Yeah, Omega faceplanting on the wood was the only moment where I thought "that's way too fucking much", and I couldn't even stand to watch the spots where they sliced each other and shit. I figured that shit was gimmicked and all, anyway. But they can't really gimmick the boards that make up the ring.

So much this, though I don't think she's Kelly Kelly bad. I like her and I like her gimmick a lot, but she just cannot hang in the ring with anyone yet. All of her opponents look miles better than her even in defeat. I am more interested in Jamie Hayter and Shanna than Baker, and all they are is "bad/good guy #3 who can take the pin."
