Post wrestlers you just struggle to see the appeal behind. An anti-boy thread, if you will.

Adam Page is such a boring, vanilla redneck and I zone out whenever he's on TV. He has age on his side but he really needs to grow on the promo and character front because everyone he gets paired up with heavily outshines him.

Kofi Kingston has always been a boring wrestler. He can't promo, he has a shitty physique, for a high energy high flyer he does everything slow as shit. It also doesn't help that the New Day is incredibly stale. His title reign is one of the reasons I've largely stopped watching WWE.

Who's idea was it to run Johnny Gargano up the ladder like he was these past couple years? He looks like a comic book store rat - which is reflected in the gear he wears at Takeovers - and his character just feels like an overcompensating Daniel Bryan archetype to me. I hope his ceiling is ace of 205 Live with the occasional run at, or with, the US or IC title.

I know people kinda came around to this recently, but I've never cared about Seth. He's good in the ring but so are like a dozen other guys and some of them are better than he is so what's he really got going for him? Every time he talks he just sounds like the guys in porn that never stop talking so I don't care about his promos and everything he's said or done IRL makes him seem like a tool so he doesn't even have that to fall on.

He's not a bad heel but he's nothing special and he's a terrible face so he's definitely not someone I want to see on top anytime soon.

Johnny had a great angle with Ciampa that took place at the peak of NXT and played to all his strengths. Don't underrate the power of one killer angle or gimmick. Gargano has enough upsides, in terms of flashy spots and looking like a create-a-wrestler that you put some effort into, that he can stay over for a good while on being the protag of NXT's best storyline.

>Creating a stable just to give some jobbers tv time playing goons for one obviously 'better' wrestler
Huge anti-boy creator for me. Imperium and their raw appearance is a great recent example, the focus completely was on WALTER, everybody else just was some random body to get beaten up by the run-ins. I even am a kraut myself and would like to mark for the other Imperium members, but they didn't even get to create a real persona in wwe yet and I feel making them debut like his doesn't help any side in the long run and most of them will end up as jobbers/released.

I was a fan up until the exaggerated Cleaner heel persona in NJPW with the silver Hair came to an end. It was completely over-the-top but at least something special.

Now his gimmick is "guy who has the best matches in the world according to Dave Meltzer". If it's not that please, someone explain it to me. In his feud with Mox he had the promo where he basically said that he has the best matches and not John Moxley. It was built around match quality. Everything revolves around supposed match quality with him, the "best bout machine". And as if that wasn't enough I can't get past his meek way of speaking which doesn't really go along well with his roided up body. Add to that his finisher spam and he becomes someone I can stand watching.

Almost forgot, how fucking bad was his little sadface when he heard that Moxley had been cleared and he had to be consoled by his friends because it devastated him for some reason.

Isn't his current storyline in AEW basically that he doesn't know who he is and he keeps trying to be who he used to be but it's never enough? I don't think he has a gimmick right now except "confused guy who can't seem to get his head on right."

He's putting over other wrestlers right now and I can just about 100% guarantee when they decide he's done that enough and it's time to have him start winning again, it'll be with an all new gimmick, representing his discovery of who he wants to be going forward.

Take as comparison Ricochet who was in DG, NJPW and other promotions showered with all possible accomplishments and then decided to show them the finger and not stick with any of those but instead wanting to be IC champion in wwe.

When the English announcer told his "h8rs" to go kill themselves after his WK match with Jericho (IIRC something along the lines of "If you dont think this guy is the BEST WRESTLER EVER, go jump off a cliff. [...] Go jump off a cliff!) I just tuned off and can't bother watching him.

I agree he is good, but he doesn't need a hype machine strapped to the rocket up his ass. And between that and his constant spam of the jumping knee (I thought signatures were supposed to set-up spots) I just want him off any screen I'm in front of.

Like MJF, I see his current "main event push" (not sure I'd really call it that, but I understand what you mean) as more of an attempt to establish him as an attempt to establish their credibility in a long-term sense.

Remember, AEW is a company without any history and with very few characters who do have anything in the way of a long, diverse, interesting career story. So they are giving these young guys with potential a lot of time and attention as a way to establish them as important now so that they can be taken seriously when they're really ready for a run at the top.

E.g., now Page can always be basically the first runner up for the AEW title, something he can wear with distinction and call back to for a while, even if he is losing matches and not necessarily in top tier storylines. He's also been involved in one of the company's first great feuds (from an in-ring perspective) with PAC, which is again an example of building a history and story.

Bliss can cut a promo and was a good smug heel. She was babyface last I saw her though so now I don't know, but at least she seemingly helped get Nikki Cross a push. If only she still did he cool 180 moonsault and wasn't always injured. As for Liv, maybe her gimmick change she's been teasing will be interesting? Liv has shown some wrestling promise, though we haven't seen enough to make a strong judgement. Basically she's hot and hasn't exposed herself as being terrible.

At this point I'm expecting the gimmick change to just be scrapped. The tease happened months ago and I have my doubts Vince is that invested in Liv to even remember it happened.

Raku's cute and being awkward, soft spoken and not particularly athletic really seems like someone who shouldn't be wrestling and if this were rookie Raku I'd agree. But she got better (at least to being carryable) kind of out of nowhere this year and hit something with her opponents not taking her seriously which combined with being kind of awkward and looking out of place makes it easy to root for her as an underdog.

She's also got a kind of amusing signature spot which helps in modern joshi.

I enjoyed Liv as the bratty, annoying member of the Riott Squad. She always came off as an off kilter party girl which is a neat gimmick if you can do it right. I liked the Riott Squad in general even if their booking was fucking awful since they had pretty good chemistry with each other. I guess being good friends IRL will do that though.

Liv is IMO a pretty good bumper. She takes a beating pretty well and sells well. Her gimmick was fun and the Riott Squad was a great team. They were just booked death pretty much from the start.

Liv was great as part of the Riott squad. They had great chemistry.

She's by no means ready to be a single star, beyond giving Vince the boner.

My all time anti-boy is Lex Luger.
Right now Adam Cole makes me switch tabs pretty quick. Pretty much all of the UE guys, actually. It's not even a "lol vanilla midgets" scenario, I just kinda hate all 4 of them.

Kofi is really just bleh. Half his movea are other wrestlers spots done poorly, like.christains corner kick thing. His whole rumble gimmick is jsut ripping off john morrisons stuff and doing it less athletically.

People want to fuck them. That is the appeal of any woman's wrestler on this board who wasn't working 90s-early 2000s joshi feds.

Luger's best promo may have been the one he made against Mark Madden; when he was basically screaming at Madden to never talk about his body fat percentage again because Madden was a fat piece of shit that deserved to die.
it wouldn't have been surprising if it was a shoot

Lex was pretty good in the 80s. And his tweener run on the first year of Nitro is a hidden gem

Absolutely. Early Nitro gets talked about a lot for the goofy Dungeon of Doom or NWO stuff but tweener Lex is easily one of the best parts of the show.
