This is going to be such a weird show. So many big name TNA guys are signed exclusive elsewhere, mainly to WWE. Is James Storm exclusive to NWA? It seems weird to bring in Harris and not do an America's Most Wanted Reunion.

With D'Amore in charge, there'll probably be a shitty Team Canada reunion without Bobby Roode and Eric Young.

Hopefully they can bring in Alex Shelley to team up with Sabin.

A1 is active and works for BCW so I guess he's gonna be a part of it.

>Hopefully they can bring in Alex Shelley to team up with Sabin.
Shelley is working Janela's Spring Break at the same time. It is possible that he works both but I have a nagging feeling that he wants nothing to do with TNA, even with Sabin back and D'Amore in charge. Also NXT is clearly throwing everything they have at him to lock him up. Meanwhile, I'm sure he has a job with AEW if he wants it, to say nothing of his desire to go back to NJPW.

Low Ki pretty emphatically shot down going back recently: https://twitter.com/OneWorldWarrior/status/1220513620938952705

> Is James Storm exclusive to NWA?
there was a rumor on readit that Billy Corgan dropped Ken Anderson from the NWA after he got booked for this show, which would explain why he was absent from the Hard Times PPV this past weekend.

Well Billy obviously doesn't like IMPACT and maybe he doesn't want one half his tag team champs losing to the North or whatever, but it's early days, who knows, a deal could be in the works. I doubt anyone is exclusive to NWA but who knows?

All they need is Monty, a few X-division guys, maybe Aries to face Tessa and Bully vs Sami and we got ourselves a show. I'm hoping some guys use this as a way to make a comeback. Monty and Moose feuding til Slammiversary before the latter goes onto win the title at BFG would be neat

LMAO i guarantee he would refuse to put her over

Gail just did an interview where she said she would like Brooke Tessmacher & Terryn Terrell to come back.

Don't forget that technically Petey Williams, ODB, Cody Deaner and James Mitchell are "TNA Originals" too. Throw in a Shark Boy cameo. D-Ray 3000 apparently reached out to Ethan Page LOL: https://twitter.com/SeanRossSapp/status/1221615090304258048

They could possibly get Nash and Sting actually. I don't think they actually under any kind of deal with WWE. They could also potentially get Matt Hardy (if rumors about his contract expiring are true).

But yeah, also no Christopher Daniels, Abyss, Booker T, Team 3D, Jay Lethal, Ric Flair, Bobby Lashley, Hulk Hogan, Jeff Hardy, Magnus, Frankie Kazarian, Jerry Lynn. Hell, even GUNNER is exclusive to NXT.

I think Aries is exclusive to MLW actually.

>An update on Taya Valkyrie's contract status from yesterday. She is stating on social media that her contract did not automatically roll over as I wrote yesterday and that she actually signed a new multi-year Impact Wrestling contract last year. We were told her deal automatically rolled over in December 2019, which she disputes. A new deal would lock her in with the company through sometime in 2021, based on her claims. Konnan stated on a recent episode of his podcast that he believed her deal was up in ten months, which falls in line with what we have heard.

>Valkyrie and her husband, John Morrison, by the way, are in the midst of post-production on their forthcoming short horror film The Iron Sheik Massacre.

>X-Division Champion Ace Austin has been signed to a three year deal by Impact. He is several months into the deal.

>Tessa Blanchard vs. Ace Austin will headline the 2/22 Sacrifice PPV in Louisville, Kentucky at OVW's Davis Arena.

Court Bauer founded MLW back in 2002 and ran shows until 2004. Afterward, Court was a writer at WWE for years. Afterward, he relaunched MLW as MLW Radio (basically a podcast network) in 2011. Then he started promoting MLW shows again in 2017.

He's currently the owner of MLW and I THINK he's the booker as well? I think a lot of people use Court and MLW as a punchline these days because they're just so totally eclipsed by AEW/ROH/Impact/NWA. Honestly, I'd rank MLW up there with TNA as far as shows a lot of people on this board dunk on but don't actually watch. It's the LOLTNA thing all over again.

>A tournament to crown the first Pure Champion in nearly 14 years begins with first-round matches at Pure Excellence in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, April 10 and Pittsburgh on Saturday, April 11.
>The Pure Title was created in 2004. In matches contested under Pure rules, closed-fist punches were illegal, and each competitor was allowed three rope breaks to stop submission holds and pinfalls during the match; after that, pinfalls and submission holds on or under the ropes would be legal.

>Bandido will challenge Dragon Lee for the ROH Television Title at the Ring of Honor 18th Anniversary Pay-Per-View, it was announced today.

>Doug Williams versus Jonathan Gresham has been signed for ROH Past Versus Present.

>John Walters is also announced as returning for the event.
>The major news from the weekend was the announcement that the promotion has forged a working agreement with Dragon Gate. The two promotions had been in talks since last Fall and came to an official signing on the agreement last week in Japan. This was considered a big upgrade internally given that DG draws between 5,000-10,000 for major shows. With Ultimo Dragon and Dragon Gate having mended their bridge, this could open the door for Dragon to come in and work MLW. MLW had been working with Pro Wrestling NOAH but the word at the taping over the weekend was that NOAH would be working with Impact Wrestling going forward.

>We are told there is at least one “major meeting” set up this week regarding MLW’s streaming and TV rights.

>In regard to rumors that Mance Warner is AEW-bound after he was visiting at the AEW Dynamite taping in Cleveland last week, he is locked into an exclusive MLW deal for several years, so that’s not happening.

>Gringo Loco missed the Fightland show as he’s currently hospitalized in Mexico with the flu. He was slated to wrestle this past Thursday in Mexico but wasn’t cleared by the doctor at the arena and was ordered to go right to the hospital, where he remains.

>Puma King was slated to wrestle in Philadelphia over the weekend, but was pulled at the last minute as his new work visa had not arrived in time. A number of luchadors with work visas have found getting them renewed to have been a complete train wreck due to the current political climate.

he's definitely righting the ship in quick order but the biggest hurdle is still how their TV show is produced/aired. And that goes above him.

Talent is getting paid, relationships w NJPW & NWA are being repaired, talents are getting freedom to do indies again but management could still afford to 1.) make HonorClub more lucrative 2.) create a weekly destination viewing of ROH that builds buzz because the FITE upload is not cutting it.

> PWInsider.com can exclusively confirm that Major League Wrestling has had talks with Amazon in recent weeks discussing the potential of bringing MLW programming to their Amazon Prime streaming service. Amazon has made it a priority to acquire live programming rights and are even said to be in the mix for NFL rights. Obviously, Amazon would be well aware of how pro wrestling is successful due to their own data with direct to consumer sales, their own streaming VOD service and Amazon's cloud services, which handle the infrastructure for a lot of streaming services.

> One of the things that is making MLW (and any pro wrestling content, frankly) more appealing is that there is a potential writers strike looming, which would prevent any Writer's Guild members from working until it is resolved. While studios are already stockpiling material, a pro wrestling series such as MLW's, which would be considered non-union and thus would not feature any members of the Guild involved, would be very helpful and attractive in terms of filling a schedule with fresh content should a strike actually go down.

> We are told MLW is still meeting with other potential outlets. One person familiar with the conversations noted that it's a "fluid situation", noting there is "momentum in a few directions with major players."

> MLW's Court Bauer did not return a request for comment yesterday. PWInsider.com has given Bauer 24 hours to respond and should he choose to do so, we will update.

hmm... interesting. I guess those Showtimes rumors were most likely Court leaking discussions to drum up buzz.

It's not quite clear from this if it means Amazon Prime would have just the digital rights or the FULL, exclusive rights to MLW. they did have that Dojo Pro mini series exclusively on Amazon Prime. And I can't imagine Amazon would be paying that much for non-exclusive rights.

In spite of Court's bluster, he can't be getting that much money from a Saturday night 10pm beIN sports slot. IDK if anyone noticed, but MLW quietly started posting the episodes on Youtube at before the bein premiere

Still, leaving TV, even a bad channel, to go full digital is still kind of a step backward. Companies keep trying to find ways for digital to replace TV... but it's just not going to happen. The audiences are fracturing and they're going to pirate shit digitally. Digital rights fees will probably never match a cable rights fee.

Also, he put out this press release too:
>Major League Wrestling and AAA Lucha Libre's collaboration continues on March 13 with a historic co-promoted card in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

>The MLW x AAA event will emanate from the historic Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez.

>Information on the card and on-sale date for tickets will be revealed soon.

>The card will feature top ranked MLW wrestlers and represents the first-time MLW has united with AAA to present a co-promoted event.

>This collaboration between the two organizations continues Major League Wrestling’s strategic alliances with international federations to create a unified global system to help introduce the sport to new markets, exchange talent, collaborate on content and develop opportunities for fans, athletes and the sport.

>It is MLW’s mission that these efforts present dream matches, easily accessible high quality content and advancements in the sport.
court is very good at getting reporters to copy-paste his press release without much question. No one ever seems to notice that the NOAH and Crash deals died after 1 show or that "signed" talents leave after 1 or 2 shows. (Killer Kross might be on WWE TV before his MLW debut)

Yeah I agree. Honor Club needs to expand their video library and be more competitive with Impact Plus, WWE Network, etc. Also I remember Joe Koff had talked about a goal of his of making ROH Wrestling a live weekly show. The question is if SBG would be able to pony up the money to make that happen

What has helped Impact is their working relationships with indie promotions providing them with the ring and production support that saves on costs and allows them to do more shows, which means more bookings for wrestlers and more exposure for the indie promotions.
Tank - Wed, 05 Feb 2020 17:35:49 EST +9pCFlLB No.6354900 Reply
The best feature of Impact doing all these Indie shows is that the wrestlers on their roster are getting practice on their character and in ring work all the time without being completely burnt out and micro managed like in WWE with the way they do house shows.

Their is a middle ground between AEW and WWE as far as work load goes. AEW has so many green wrestlers on their roster who would benefit from house shows or working with indies as much as possible. WWEs schedule is garbage for the opposite reason.

Impact does it right by having their roster working fairly consistently but not so much they it kills them(unless you are Brian Cage). So many of Impacts wrestlers have only been improving in the ring since Callis and Scott took over. I really do attribute that from being able to work often with indie shows and twitch shows as well as television and PPVs.

In a way..it's a REAL developmental wrestling company because the guys who show up their green are able to develop their characters and in ring work over the time they spent their. Look at MOOSE.

Yeah I mean at least Impact wrestlers are still able to take indie bookings and can still consistently work outside of Impact. Scott and Don are doing right by the business by being open to working with different promotions.

ROH actually made a good decision by letting Marty Scurll have the book and so far it's showing with all these matches for their upcoming shows being announced though we'll see how it translates on screen starting with Free Enterprise on Sunday.

Xplosion (and the weekly show) are always free on Impact+ for the first 30 days. The library, PPVs and specials are on the paid tier.

Kelly Kelly - Thu, 06 Feb 2020 09:08:50 EST BlrIoG3o No.6355161 Reply
there are two tiers of Impact+: a free tier and a paid tier
On the free tier you get the 4 most recent episodes of Impact & Xplosion each. After 30 days, an episode then gets moved to the paid tier.

On the paid tier, you get the complete archive: all episodes of Impact & Xplosion, plus all their old compilations, PPVs, Impact+ live specials, indies, documentaries, etc.

The free tier is just another way for you to keep up with the weekly TV on-demand if you don't have AXS or miss a Twitch stream.

Because of TV deals, WWE can't add RAW or Smackdown to the network until weeks after they air
So they really can't even do a free tier and it makes having the Network pointless for casual fans that want to keep up

is a weirdo.... BUT he spent months saying that Marty was staying in ROH, while everyone figured it was just a matter of time til he showed up in AEW... so I think it's interesting that he is signal boosting this gossip.
tl; dr - the Elite EVPs don't get along creatively (and Marty had heat with one of them which played into his decision) & Tony Khan has taken a more hands-on role with creative since that Dark Order end-of -show beatdown

meanwhile Fightful had this newz:
>It would appear that Tony Khan is taking the bull by the horns in All Elite Wrestling.

>With several EVPs, many wondered early on how much influence The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and others coupled with the fact that founder Tony Khan had the "final say." As it turns out, things have expanded well beyond that, as reported on our Fightful Select service this week.

>The Fightful Select update read as follows.
>I'm told that people in AEW have been having fun working on the creative aspects of the Hangman Page storyline. Tony Khan specifically has evolved from being the person with the final say to a person developing more stories and ideas creatively of his own, as well as being more outspoken about other people's ideas. Thus far, we've heard that his creative input has been received positively from people on the roster. That Hangman Page story specifically was one that he's worked closely on and contributed to heavily.

>Kenny Omega is credited with the idea of turning Britt Baker heel internally, and the promo lines about Tony Schiavone's job were said to have come from Tony Khan.

>In addition, we've reported on the backstage influence of Chris Jericho being outspoken. None of this is to say that any of the EVPs or anyone else is losing influence backstage, only that we've heard Khan is speaking up and taking charge more.

Does SRS's article really prove anything though? I could have guessed that there would be difference of opinions creatively for a new company starting up because it happens in literally every field/line of work, especially when the key people involved are friends. Rovert has no sources and just makes guesses hoping he's right. Willing to bet if Marty did leave for AEW, he would have made up some bullshit story that a fight happened backstage with someone in ROH that caused him to leave. He puts himself in a position where he can never be wrong and it's just some neckbeard that thinks he's an insider like Meltzer.

>Rovert has no sources and just makes guesses hoping he's right
eh... I don't know if that's straight-forward because Sean Ross Sapp, Voices of Wrestling Casey from Squared Circle Sirens, Bix, Joey Janela and Filthy Tom all interact with him regularly. The rumor I always heard was that he would buy wishlist items for the women wrestlers in Orland (back when TNA & NXT were both there) in exchange for scoops. I think its more likely that he is DM'ed gossip and he is a clout chaser who likes to play coy with it for RTs. I would assume that wrestlers are DM'ing him stuff... but they're also using him to spread gossipy *they* want to spread. He does get stuff wrong and is obnoxious about it, but he did bang that Marty drum for a very long time.

>especially when the key people involved are friends
the gossip tho is that they're really not friends, they were just part of a money-drawing stable that caught Tony Khan's eye and now they're sorta stuck together for business reasons.

This feels like armchair insiderz thinking Kylie Rae left AEW because Tony Khan or Jericho hit on her, then it turned out she had a heavy drug addiction AND eating disorder, leading her to go to rehab for months. The era of the IWC believing twitter bullshit should have ended with that. Rovert has no inside news, he's just throwing shit at the wall and when one sticks, he acts like he knows everything. When it doesn't he ignores it. The Nightmare Collective, from reasonable deduction, wasn't dropped. Mel and Luther are still there and it's only been a week since that happened. Kong is filming GLOW so legally she can't be there. It's not some conspiracy. Brandi's videos don't give a clear message of anything. If it was changed without her knowing, why would they still be airing those promos?

Are you saying she said she had an eating disorder & drug addiction and went to rehab? If so, she definitely never said that. She's never said what happened to her; the most concrete thing she has said was: "I’ve always tried to be a good person but I make many mistakes along the way. According to an interview with MOX nobody is really in charge. Everyone spit balls ideas at each other with most of the EVPs and veterns having the majority of ideas. Kenny Omega and Brandi were doing most of the womens stuff.

That interview was months ago and it seems things are starting to change with Tony Khan having more of a final say on things most likely due to some floppy angles like Nightmare Collective and the reaction to Dark Order beating down The Elite.

I also want to say Dark Order is based and introducing Nightmare Collective was a weird ass move since they already had Dark Order. They should toss Mel and Luther in Dark Order. >An exciting new era in women’s wrestling in Ring of Honor is imminent.

>To emphasize ROH’s commitment to women’s wrestling, a new Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship has been created. This title will replace the Women of Honor Title and carry the utmost prestige as only the best competitors will earn its gold.

>The tournament to crown the inaugural champion begins with eight first-round matches at “Quest For Gold” on Friday, April 24 at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena. The tournament will feature talent from all over the world, including some new faces who have never competed in ROH.

>“Quest For Gold” tickets go on sale Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. ET for HonorClub members and Friday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. ET for the general public.

>The first women’s match in ROH history took place in 2002, the company’s first year in existence. In the ensuing years, some of the best women’s wrestlers in the sport competed in an ROH ring, including Sara Del Rey, Mickie James, Amazing Kong, Mercedes Martinez, MsChif, Cheerleader Melissa and Daizee Haze, who all paved the way for the current generation of female talent in ROH.

>The ROH Women’s World Championship will take women’s wrestling in ROH to the highest level. Don’t miss your opportunity to witness history in the making at Quest for Gold!

My one grievance is that it might be too many titles for a one-hour show: World, Tag, Womens, 6 man tag, TV & Pure. I have the same thought about MLW & NWA: they both have a lot of belts for one hour shows. In particular, I don't think MLW has enough heavyweights & middleweights to fill out separate HW, MW and "openweight" divisions.

I do think Impact struck the right balance with number of belts and even though it's not at its peak, the X Division title is kinda the perfect "midcard" belt for modern wrestling: it's not restricted by a cruiserweight weight limit and can give the bigger guys who work more "workrate, spotfest"-y styles something to do.

I also think AEW could get away with introducing another title but I'd want to see something unique for 2020. Cruiserweight titles don't seem special when everyone in wrestling is smaller now; 6 man or mixed tag titles tend to run out of viable teams real quickly. TV titles kinda feels like a relic (it works for Powerrr) but maybe something that plays into the effect that Youtube, Twitch, FITE have had on wrestling.

>While Cobb is still working for both Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling, his appearance is not a sign that AEW has forged a working relationship with either promotion. Cobb is currently a free agent as his ROH deal expired at the end of 2019 and he declined to sign a new deal. He was booked directly by AEW as he is free to work anywhere, so his debut tonight should not be seen as anything greater than just that – a debut.

>Despite appearing on the show, Cobb is still a free agent with advertised appearances for Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling on his calendar. It was reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet‘s Ryan Satin that Cobb’s agreement with AEW might only be for a few appearances at this time, and Cobb himself has shot down some rumors about his status on social media. In addition, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter said Cobb’s short-term agreement was for the Moxley program only, with Cobb wanting to work for New Japan as much as he could.

>During today’s AEW Dynamite media call, I asked Cody Rhodes if he could shed some more light on Cobb’s status based on what has been reported. Cody said he’d love to have Cobb for a longer period and he will appear past this week, but it’s still a work in progress.
“It’s still in gestation. Jeff works with New Japan, he works with Ring Of Honor and now he works with AEW. I’m a big fan of Jeff Cobb because I like shooters in wrestling. I don’t try to consider myself one with my limited amateur background, but I think Jeff is a really—he’s a tank. He’s a special athlete.

So I think honestly, to be transparent with you, it’s in gestation. I would hope that he maybe pursue the longer [tenure] with AEW but I don’t want it to impede on anything he’s doing in his soul, if that makes sense. If he wants to travel the globe and do all kinds of stuff, have at it.

That’s one of the great things about AEW, there’s no blanket contracts. Everybody’s contract is different about what they can do, where they can go, and Tony Khan has tailored and contoured contracts to speak to your sensibility. ‘Hey, if this independent means a lot to me’ or ‘going to Wrestle Kingdom means a lot to me,’ whatever it may be, it’s door’s open and we’re open for business. But Jeff, I’m sorry, I’ll just have to keep it vague with him as well because honestly, we don’t know just yet.

We do have Jeff for more than just the Atlanta show, but I’d love to see Jeff in a more long-term deal with us. He’s a special talent.”

>During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that there are currently issues with AAA’s agreement with other companies. Impact Wrestling was especially mentioned as well as AEW. Apparently, there are some moves being made, but that’s nothing new in the pro wrestling business.

I think part of it is that a lot of the AEW crew just saw how NJPW basically used ROH to get a foothold in the USA, and see how AAA's clearly got ambitions beyond Mexico.
Beyond that, yeah, there's only so many AAA guys who have visas to work in the USA, and then AEW has to make the call if it's worth paying to fly them in to dick around in the midcard instead of Indie Guy 49, knowing that their crowd probably isn't going to give a shit.
Impact and the other guys have more to gain from HOLY SHIT GUYS IT'S DRAGO or whatever than AEW, and Impact has the 5d Chess move of just taping in Mexico to avoid the visa hassles.

>Chris Bey was announced as IMPACT Wrestling‘s latest signee this week but the deal might not have been put together as quickly as some have speculated. According to a source speaking with Wrestlezone, Bey had actually signed with the company a couple of months ago, and IMPACT had just made the announcement this week. On Tuesday, the company aired a vignette and confirmed Bey had signed a contract with the company, posting the following statement on social media:
"We’re incredibly excited to announce that @DashingChrisBey has signed with IMPACT Wrestling!"

>The timing of the announcement was noteworthy due to Bey also being mentioned earlier that morning by Cody Rhodes on an All Elite Wrestling media call as someone he showed interest in. Cody’s answer was in response to a writer’s question about AEW pursuing more people of color in 2020, and he noted Bey as someone he’d been watching footage of. Cody made it clear that he had not talked to him in an official capacity, but called Bey a “prime example of a guy that could be potentially good for our singles division.”

>IMPACT made their announcement about eight hours later during their broadcast, leading some people to speculate that AEW somehow “lost out” and waited too long on signing Bey. It’s unknown when exactly Bey did sign, but we were told it was “sometime” at the end of 2019—not this week.

>IMPACT did not confirm any other details regarding contract terms at the time of their announcement. Bey has appeared for several TV promotions including WWE, Ring Of Honor and IMPACT Wrestling, including being featured on IMPACT’s Las Vegas television tapings earlier this month. Bey has also been a staple on the independent scene, working frequently for GCW, Without A Cause, Bar Wrestling and Suburban Fight Pro.

Dominic Garrini credentials are all legit, the dude was an actual purple belt with a couple tournament wins and accomplishments to his name. Probably could have gone further if wrestling didn't become primary focus. So while the purple belt might not be the peak of BJJ I think it works out better the grand scheme of things. At least this way folks know he's a well a rounded martial artist as oppose to a gimmicked black belt.

Nah, he's been totally divorced from the company since 2004. IIRC, the whole PervertedJustice thing happened in like March or April and ROH said Feinstein was fired, but then it came out in like June that he was finally, officially, completely gone from ROH and he'd still been secretly involved and getting a paycheck for months and it caused a bit of a scandal (I only remember this because I had tickets to the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup show where the promoter pulled out, so ROH had to relocate the show to Philly and call it Survival of the Fittest).

It retrospect, I don't get why anyone thought RF would have been gone immediately. RF Video was producing and selling all of ROH's shows, plus all the legalities of buying out Feinstein's shares and whatnot isn't going to happen overnight. That just isn't how business works.

it's really not that bad imo, the show starts in around a month and a half, they're selling slowly but the main factor is more likely the price for the tickets being very high rather than Spring Break running against them and by this rate they'll be able to at least sell 3/4 of the seats by the time the show begins

what worries me more is Rebellion, they have around 526 seats + general attendance and they're sunning against the Crocket cup, so unless the weeks leading to Rebellion are incredibly eye catching i'm not too sure of how well they'll do and there doesn't seem a way to check the numbers manually in real time

Joey Janela Talks "AEW Dark" Match With Kip Sabian Not Happening On PPV
> Being in a storyline with your ex and her new boyfriend can't be the most comfortable thing in the world. Janela discussed if there is any awkwardness involved with the storyline.
"Not really at all. I've been in the wrestling business for 15 years now so nothing's really weird or uncomfortable. I've seen it all and heard it all. I'm trying to find my footing and they are as well. Who knows how all of this will turn out after this is all said and done," Janela said before being asked if he's surprised at the chemistry between he and Sabian.
"I'm not surprised because we're like polar opposites. He's like the corny version of my gimmick. I always have doubts about everything going in but it seems to have worked so far."
>Janela was then asked if he would have preferred his match with Sabian to be on the AEW Revolution PPV and not on AEW Dark.
"Of course. Of course. That's what we thought it was going to be but it is what it is," stated Janela. "They wanted to do a match on TV and a match on Dark. There's so much stuff on the PPV but I would have done a few things differently, not necessarily politic for my match to be on a PPV. But on a PPV you're a little more lenient – no commercials and more time to tell your story – but I have no issue with the direction it's gone."

>After Janela's feud with Sabian wraps up, his guess is as good as anyone's as to what AEW has in store for him next.
"I don't know where we're going. I live week by week with what I'm doing. It's never really been like that for me as I've always had control on the indies and I knew what direction I was going," said Janela. "Working TV is hard, it's stressful, especially the last few months. It's not that I don't grasp the TV formula but it's hard when you're on the indies and you walk to the beat of your own drum. The last couple of years, no one could tell me anything as there were no restrictions. Promoters would say, 'Alright, do what you do. Go out there.'
"Now I'm restricted but that's what it is. I'm excited to see where I go and who knows where this will lead? It's already gotten me laid more, so that's good. Maybe I'm living the rock star life a little bit too much?"

That's the best case scenario but at the same time what a strange statement that would be. Tony announced on twitter last week that he's wrapping up his commitments with Georgia sports and will be going full-time with AEW. That being said, he's also producing Dark and had said that if he went back to WWE it would be produce behind the scenes on NXT... maybe Tony will transition to a BTS director of commentary/interviews kind of role for everyone.

I could see Colt being the 3rd man in a Taz/Excalibur booth for Dark (and/or whatever this *other* show thats going to be taped on Wednesdays is) but I mostly think his commentary is going to be part-time.

>IMPACT Wrestling Expands Indian Broadcast Footprint with DSPORT

>IMPACT Wrestling, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Inc. and one of the world’s largest professional wrestling organizations, announced today a new television distribution deal with Discovery India, expanding its audience reach in this important region of the world. As part of the agreement, Discovery will broadcast 12 monthly IMPACT Plus specials on DSPORT and DSPORT HD across the Indian subcontinent. The exclusive deal will include monthly specials from IMPACT Wrestling’s IMPACT Plus service, including Sacrifice from February and Lockdown in March.

>“IMPACT Wrestling has always maintained a strong presence in India and the Indian sub-continent where our passionate fan base continues to grow,” said Ed Nordholm, Chief Corporate Officer of Anthem Sports & Entertainment and president of IMPACT Wrestling. “With our volume of events increasing over the last two years, there has been more demand for exclusive and original IMPACT Wrestling content in the market. We are excited to be partnering with Discovery India to launch our monthly IMPACT Plus specials on DSPORT and look forward to continued international growth and expansion opportunities.”

>“We are delighted to partner with Impact Wrestling in our attempt to showcase the best possible professional wrestling action for discerning fans in India,” said Vijay Rajput, Senior Vice President, Affiliate Sales and Head of Sports Business – South Asia, Discovery. “Wrestling as a sport continues to show positive uptake in the country and we are eager to grow it as a focus area in our programming mix.”

This is in addition to the weekly show and the Big 4 PPVs being shown on Sony ESPN, which also airs WWE (which is up for renewal). Saw on leddit that this means that even if Sony dropped Impact for WWE, they already have their backup network in place to move everything over.

It's not controversial. IMPACT gets good viewership everywhere outside the US. Sure others like NJPW or AEW would draw bigger in the UK if they were to do a show or two, but it wouldn't get a quater of the viewers if they had a weekly show on UK TV.

I'm sure IMPACT's world wide TV deals is probably their biggest source of income tbh

I might be wrong here but the endless burials from podcasts and shoot interviews and dirtsheets are probably the reasoning for that. Americans are the only ones who are following all that kind of stuff. I guess people in the UK do too but Impact airs at a semi reasonable time over there which is why it sometimes beats Smackdown and RAW ratings.

The product is a punching bag and a dirty brand in the USA. They've done a lot to deserve that from the past but they've been putting out a decent-great show since late 2017 now. It's really consistant and there isn't much you can insult Impact about nowadays but since the product is good now people have shifted their shit talking to personal lives or bringing up how they USED to suck. Like trying to call out wrestlers on Impact for being problematic and stuff like that. Or bringing up shitty PPVs they had in 2010 or whatever. Or shitting on them because they don't book huge arenas or don't have a top of the line camera crew anymore. Americans like having their punching bag and don't want it taken away from them. They'll find a way.

There is also this weird thing in the USA where wrestling has to be ONE product and you need to be LOYAL TO YOUR PRODUCT. So you have people who only watch WWE or only watch AEW and think watching Impact means they have CHOSEN that company. It's not like a sports team from your local city. I watch AEW, Impact, MLW, GCW and more.

You can even see that one guy on the board who thinks everyone who watches Impact hates AEW or something.

>hospitalization attempt on Moxley by stabbing him in the eye, who stabs Santana in the eye, then takes Jericho's belt, then gets Triple Powerbombed off the stage followed by being mocked for not having his friends anymore

>None of these fucking men are in WarGames
That's absolute horseshit. Probably the most egregious example of the Elite shoehorning themselves into something so far.

The Elite has in fighting going on with Hangman Page and Young Bucks/Kenny Omega. Cody always has shit with Jericho. The Elite and The Inner Circle have been enemies since AEW started. This show is weeks away anyways and not a PPV to blow off a feud but a TV match to build old feuds or new ones.

It's the right stables but the Inner Circle and Elite have not interacted in awhile.its a shame that it's not "Mox's Militia" or something like that with Mox, Darby, Dustin, idk someone else, and Brodie Lee as the surprise partner

I'm not disregarding or disagreeing with either part of that, it just struck me as odd that you'd list a schism in one faction as an example of the feud between the two factions.
The Iron Sheik - Sun, 08 Mar 2020 18:41:43 EST +9pCFlLB No.6366625 Reply
Fair. I guess what I am saying is the match up isn't surprising to me or anything. And it's not completely out of left field. Inner Circle and The Elite have history already and the innter turmoil going on in The Elite will probably cost them the match and maybe push storylines further to the PPV.

I hate Wargames being used as a stop gap in the middle of a bigger story

What I would have done is have Jericho continue teasing his "if x doesn't happen, tonight I'll leave for 60 days" each week until Blood and Guts. bunch of people know he's leaving for a fozzy tour and this past week was a good fake out. He can keep backing up his claims until he loses at Wargames, then he loses there, is gone for 60 days and can come back right at Double or Nothing
Tyson Kidd - Sun, 08 Mar 2020 19:06:02 EST g2oNdwHT No.6366643 Reply
I don't disagree, and on top of that one can hardly blame AEW for wanting to get the promotional wheels rolling. But I can also see how some people might feel that the feud hasn't reached the heat level to warrant the announcement of the match considering the gimmick or that there are better alternatives available. I'm fairly certain the finished product will make all this talk moot anyway.

Johnny Impact's reign was a bunch of nothing

I don't think empty arena shows are going to be continuing for much longer anywhere.

GCW got their's in, but Freelance & Black Label Pro's shows got canceled.
WWE is trying to bank everything by end of this week.
AEW is playing it week to week and there's no guarantee they're even allowed to do anything next wednesday (or this wednesday if something changes in the next 24 hours)

Considering Anthem owns the wrestling show and the network, they just can do what they want, when they want.

This show was filmed a few weeks ago. It's the same taping where Steiner collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.

I can't imagine them outright cancelling No Place Like Home. The TNA reunion show was the most hyped thing they've done in months. Maybe they'll move it to Slammiversary instead (which would probably be more appropriate anyway).

One thing I know for sure is that the USA is the third worst in the world with cases of Covid-19 right now and projected to go past China and Italies numbers as time goes on.

That being said. Canada has far far far less cases and has been dealing with the isolation stuff a lot better from what I can see besides a few hot spots like Vancouver and Toronto.

If things pan out then there is a chance that Impact could run exclusively out of Canada until this blows over. This is hypothetical of course. And you also have to fly your workers to Canada which will be hard now that the borders are closed.

Canada's sure to be all clear before the US, but doing a TNA reunion show outside of either Orlando or Nashville just seems weird (yeah yeah yeah, I know the show was originally planned for Tampa).

the border closing is for 30 days (so far) and essential travel "for work" is allowed, so I wonder if they would allow the American Impact wrestlers to come in ... if they're willing to make the drive.

And then if so, we might be getting empty arena shows in the IWPF studio.

Or maybe they just go full Undead Realm for a few episodes.
