RAW ratings have a weekly thread.

What do you want, a TV Ratings General thread so we can contain the Wednesday Night Phoney War that is not showing anything significant with the same viewers on two shows that can't get a million viewers? Or just have the ratings get posted in the dirt sheet thread?

20 weeks this Wednesday Night Shitstorm has been going on, pic related.

And Taima viewings, which matter most on here, rather than TV ratings:
>782 / 370 AEW (1152)
>235 / 78 NXT (313)

Taima has never had NXT go over AEW.

Meltzer: Goldberg's quarter hour on Smackdown was roughly 3 million.
>Absolutely insane number.

>To put this into context for you all:
>That's around 400k higher than what Smackdown's peak number is most of the time.
>That is 400k higher than Raw's peak number on the post-Rumble episode where they had 2 Rumble winners and Edge's return.
>That is 300k higher than Brock's number of 2.7 million on his return episode at the beginning of January.

>Also, last week the debate did a 1.3 in the key demo so that will have affected Smackdown's overall number as usually Smackdown is the highest every week in the demo but was not this time.

>So even with that competition, Goldberg's quarter hour did roughly 3 million.

NXT was really fucking good last night. Kushida had objectively the best NXT match in months and it was with Adam Cole of all people. Why is Kushida struggling so badly at adapting to WWE Style I swear Chris Hero fucking vacuumed up his heat and now he's no different then all the other regular and Asian cruiserweights among the 3 brands with the NXT logo pinned to them.

Lio Rush vs Angel Garza was Match of the Night. Jordan Devlin has zero business holding that cursed belt what a fucking stupid idea to make Angel drop the Championship so early like at that point just send the US and Intercontinental Championships to NXT and make them NXT belts. Almas shouldn't even be champion at the moment because he failed his piss test and Angel is gonna take away all of Almas's heat because he's just an objectively better Luchador

The only outright "what the fuck" match that was on NXT last night that dragged on way too long was Roderick Strong vs Bronson Reed. Whomever the fuck is in charge of booking NXT week to week maybe its Hunter or Regal they need to give up on Bronson

He's just Brodus Clay this man is gonna become a comedy jobber the second he leaves for the main roster I mean look at Riddick Moss right now. Its not even been 2 weeks and people already don't give a flying fuck about him because they paired him with Mojo

I don't think they're serious about actually competing with AEW, they just want to draw just enough fans away. If WWE never put on NXT as counterprogramming, AEW would probably still consistantly get between 1.0-1.5 million viewers a week. But since they've been able to keep them below a million, they're a non-factor and are basically what TNA was for years, not real competition (at least in WWE's eyes).

Has there been any news on when the second AEW show is airing later this year?

Yeah except Wrestlers know that fan response dictates a lot of their following and they know to like or be associated with their competitors in any way could insinuate a lot of implications, especially when the posts they’re liking are of wrestlers in their own company posing with Jericho who is then captioning how that wrestler is now planning to jump ship and how fun it all is for that to be happening. WWE stars Liking their own coworkers sudden happiness and relief as they approach a new job is as blatant a showing of support for them as it gets, sure it doesn’t mean they have the same plan but it definitely says they literally LIKE the idea of getting a better opportunity there, as well as how much fun it looks like compared to the job they currently hate. they’re following AEW, liking posts about their coworkers joining them, and being misused in their current company while doing so. Most of the people that have hinted at "jumping" to AEW are people that WWE probably isn't going to renew their contracts anyway. It's not like they're turning down WWE to work for AEW, WWE just doesn't want them anymore and they're washing up in AEW.

>Nobody and I mean Absolute 0, None of AEW’s talent are doing the vice versa to that.
Because anyone that WWE might actually want is under a multi-year exclusive contract that they signed less than a year ago. That's just how time works. They won't have the opportunity to leave until 2021 or 2022.

I don't believe that "vanilla midgets" are inherently bad, but NXT has way too many of them put in prominent spots having the same back and forth feuds, it gets tiresome. Fucking put the strap on Keith Lee or go all in and make Ripley the ace. She's green, but her big fat titties and thick ass keep me entertained regardless.

It's been said before, but dudes being smaller doesn't matter, it's not being interesting that does. Couple that with size and good luck captivating anybody.
That's where the "vanilla midget" term came from.
Dean Malenko was the epitome of a vanilla midget. He could wrestle circles around people, but no one ever gave a shit about him and was "Oh yeah, that guy" because he was a vaccum of charisma who had great workrate.
Benoit had the issue too until he found his intensity, which endeared him to people (aside from being a guy who people generally liked as a person...until you know what happened).
Compare them to Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho (charismatic guys with actual characters and incredible body language and expressiveness) and there's a completely massive divide between them and Malenko and Benoit and how many people enjoy their body of work.

Way too many people came up on wrestling as workrate and spot monkey marks that have broke into the business, creating the issue that permeates pro wrestling today that puts focus on that and not being actually fucking interesting more often than not.

What people should've been asking for is more interesting gimmicks and charismatic wrestlers that can work. Doesn't matter the damn size. It never did.
Plodding roidbois who can't wrestle their way out of a paperbag is just as boring as vanilla midget spot monkeys.

It's disingenuous to not admit that one feud with Jericho (he's to thank for it getting his bud over) wasn't a blip on the radar and Dean's only real memorable career highlight outside of being a rib parody of 007 that lead to him in a hotel room with Lita in which he got his ass beat by her and The Hardy Boyz.

It's fine to admit you like Dean Malenko's work. He was a great worker. Technical wizard. But his ceiling that prevented him from being a bigger star in the business happened for a reason.

I love Dean but he had limitations.

Even Jericho admits in his first book that the heat in their WCW feud died off soon after the Ciclope reveal because instead of Dean acting like a white hot babyface on fire, he reverted back to his "methodical, ice man" style of wrestling.

Fans wanted him to maul Jericho for mocking his dead dad, not watch him working holds.

How many times has NXT beat AEW in the ratings/viewers, twice?

I only remember that happening once but according to wikipedia it was 3?

>AEW is considered to be hitting its creative stride and loaded this show with a battle royal AND steel cage match
>only increases 80,000 viewers. Only a 100,000 difference between it and borin NXT

what did the wrestling fanbase mean by this?

Well NXT was a post big show episode. Plus, it's fanbase has been built on a foundation of good quality since 2013. They're not gonna switch it off just because it's a bit boring but still overall good.

AEW meanwhile is still building loyalty. In the face of a lukewarm previous episode and the new developments that followed Takeover, it's not gonna grow much.

Is this that cope thing the channels keep speaking of? Plus NXT is doing a cage in two weeks

fucking yes, awesome. Love it. Proof’s in the pudding, AEW is superior and the patrician brand. NXT is a desperate attempt at competing and is nothing but losers in this entire feud, cant wait till they start bringing in CENA to NXT just for the ratings

AEW has now beaten NXT for 8 weeks in a row.
Their previous record was 7.

TAIMA RATINGS - Last week's >>6357829
>853 / 392 AEW
>245 / 74 NXT
Even after a TakeOver, people aren't still interested in watching NXT more.

NXT need to do something seriously significant if they want to one-up the pissant shirt company (HHH's own words) in the ratings. But we all know, the only solutions involve fucking off to Thursdays and getting out of Full Sail, you can't compete against a filled arena.

They really do need to face facts and move to a different night. They lost. AEW has a new TV deal. No point in dragging down NXT by being petty.

They dont care about winning exactly, if staying on wednesday night means it stops AEW getting even an extra 100-200k viewers, they'll take the loss

they're getting a rights fee for USA AND they have a deal to stay in Full Sail

Like it or not, but WWE is not hemorrhaging money on this arrangement for NXT and it's not going to change until it becomes a giant money loser for USA (and i don't think it is? WWE is still one of the few dependable total viewer ratings winners for the network)

This isn't a defense of WWE, just a pragmatic look at the landscape. Its not like TNA's failed monday night experiment, where they spent more money on production to go live AND spent money on big talent contracts like Hogan & Flair and then lost in a much more sizeable ratings battle, while giving up their steady Thursday night presence for Spike TV.

A 100,000 viewer difference is not a trouncing defeat Especially when Raw does even better than AEW in the 18-34 demo and XFL has surprisingly had good ratings which helps bolster Vince's image to TV execs

>AND they have a deal to stay in Full Sail
Which is up for review in March, where there is a week they will not be able to do a taping for, which means they have at least one show where if they don't chicken out, can run NXT in an alternative venue. But they do need to announce that soon, or else it's either going to end up being taped at Full Sail the week before or pre-empting 205 for a NXT taping in between SmackDown.

The facts are, you can say all you want about Full Sail, it does not work against another wrestling show on at the same time, in larger venues. Plus Full Sail will just become as stale as the Impact Zone eventually got for TNA, and they in the end had no choice but to leave Universal Studios.
Alicia Fox - Thu, 20 Feb 2020 17:54:03 EST jEGuiRVR No.6360320 Reply
They can shoot at Full Sail tax free. If they go on the road that increases production and tax big time. Is the show good/popular enough to go on the road and make up for the new costs?

We can't say for sure, but the fact the extra miliion and a half that tune into RAW and SmackDown every week don't bother watching NXT tells me it's seen as a B show for many.

Does WWE still use Full Sail guys for production? I know they let them edit NXT back before it went live. If WWE leaves thats gonna be a devastating blow to that program

Does NXT replay in the tubes after AEW airs live? If so what is the viewership like?

No. It doesn't work that way. You have to pick a side, plus people aren't going to sit through four hours of two shows in one day. RAW is bad enough with three hours.

And USA Network isn't replaying NXT right after anyway, and the Network has a one day delay too. TNT does replay AEW afterwards, but obviously people won't watch NXT first, given the Taima numbers.

Do you not want to know how many people are watching in the tubes or something? Those numbers could be given for other shows as well.

Problem being Twitch streaming killed Taima attendance for Impact, and plus a lot of people stopped watching when it went to Pursuit.

Yeah we always replay weekly shows the next day in the afternoon before our tube blocks especially for those in UK and Europe who can’t catch the weekly shows live. I also do agree that Impact simulcasting on Twitch after they moved from Pop last year did have an impact on Impact viewership in /wooo/tube.

I like his work but let's not act like because Malenko was part of iconic groups, it automatically make him more charismatic or something. He didn't necessarily enhance them by being there, nor did he do incredibly memorable things by himself because of it.
He was the underachiever of all of them.

Again, Malenko was a great worker and creative with submissions, but things played out the way that they did for an obvious reason, which I already went over and so did these:

No one's saying Malenko sucks or anything like that. We're speaking from observations based on what happened and why.
Not everyone can be a main eventer. Not everyone should either.
