What are the best matches in terms of telling a contained story.

Or alternatively what are the best series of matches that tell a story arc

Team CHIKARA vs Team BDK at Season 9's The Dark Ciberknetico - tons of callbacks and references to CHIKARA's history at that point, a major match in the BDK vs. CHIKARA storyline, Larry Sweeney's last appearance before his unfortunate death, and considered one of CHIKARA's best matches.

The BDK storyline in general, at least at the start, was a hell of a setup. Shit that happened years before the formation of the BDK came back into the fold. Give Quack shit for anything else, but you can't deny that his love of continuity is (sincerely, not cat planeted) amazing.

when CM Punk won the title from Edge. Made Punk a star, finished one of Smackdown's longest feuds, and resolved the brand split issues from after the draft. It was a rare case of WWE overlapping storylines, and having actual planning, payoff, and closure to their feuds.

>when CM Punk won the title from Edge.
That definitely didn't make Punk a star. Punk wasn't truly a star until the Summer of Punk. WWE even sold it as such because they kept saying how Punk FINALLY won the WWE Championship, despite already being a multi time World Champion. It was when they completely stopped pretending the WHC was in the same league as the WWE Championship.

I'm dating myself here. Like anyone else would. BUT--
In the ancient days of wrasslin', Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling had a storyline with Johnny Valentine (toughest bastard ever) who had a fishbowl full of silver dollars to anyone who could beat him. I think it might have been Paul Jones who did it.
But, when's the last time money was on the line-Aldis vs. Scurll notwithstanding? And-though the value fluctuates, if any of those silver dollars were pre-1964, you have the silver value added too, usually 12X times the face value, melt-value-wise.

Just the stupid shit old ass fans like me come up with.

Bret vs Owen was a shining light during a shit time in the WWF. Their feud and both of their matches hold up very well, watched both the Mania X and SummerSlam matches recently and they are still good.
