>Watch WWE NXT UK at 11pm EDT / 4am BST in WrestleTube - https://baked.live/tv/wrestling

A star-studded edition of NXT UK will see NXT UK Tag Team Champions Oliver Carter and Ashton Smith colliding with Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen in a spirited title fight, Sarray tangling with the antagonistic Nina Samuels, and Myla Grace throwing down with Isla Dawn.

Smith and Carter had a long, arduous climb to the top of NXT UK, but after enduring some hardship and coming agonizingly close to capturing the tandem titles on several occasions, they at long last prevailed in a barnburner of a Triple Threat NXT UK Tag Team Championship Match and captured the gold from Moustache Mountain on June 2. Three weeks later, Smith and Carter are primed for their first defense against NXT 2.0’s Brooks and Jensen, who have established themselves as a high-upside team to watch while tangling with the likes of Von Wagner, Joe Gacy, Legado del Fantasma, The Creed Brothers and more. Can Smith and Carter maintain their grip on the championship it took them more than two-and-a-half years to win, or will Briggs and Jensen march into NXT UK like they own the place?

Keeping with the NXT vs. NXT UK theme, The Warrior of the Sun will be in action against the host of “The Nina Samuels Show.” Sarray most recently teamed with Andre Chase to secure a Mixed Tag Team Match victory against Grayson Waller and Tiffany Stratton on NXT, while the outspoken Samuels is seeking what would arguably be the most impressive win of her career.

Plus, Dawn is looking for vindication after coming up short against NXT Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura in two edge-of-your-seat title clashes. Can the eerie competitor rebound with a win over Grace and perhaps collect another “trophy,” or will the upstart Grace find a way to prevail against her unsettling opponent?

The tag titles being vacated is unfortunate since Mustache Mountain just broke up. Had they not done the turn last episode, maybe they could have switched it back over to MM somehow./spoiler]

[spoiler]Myla Grace's match was awful and Myla is GLOW levels of green right now. She looks good but I don't think she is even ready for developmental.

Tyler Bate taking a leave of absence is more bad news for the brand. This is an odd time to do that since he just got turned on. Maybe next week will clear that one up.

Nina vs Sarray was a decent match

The main was decent to good but not a classic by any means. Briggs/Jensen were definitely the least likely team to win it as DF and Starkz/Mastiff were better picks. But it is developmental and this is part of developing them. We'll have to see what happens with Boar and Andrews. Boar should probably get a new gimmick if they are going through with this, but Boar and Primate were ready as a team already to be on the main roster. I assume we are getting some kind of Brooks/Jensen vs DF match next where DF win the titles

Overall thoughts: The main and semi-main were good, but this is a time of transition for the NXT UK brand. The glory days are over and while that's bad in one sense, this is supposed to be developmental. Mustache Mountain and Dragunov aren't the people who need developing, it's the younger wrestlers who do. The only problem is that the shows are going to dip in quality until greener wrestlers get to their levels and the younger wrestlers on the brand don't seem like they are going to be that great.

Tyler Bate taking a leave of absence

Sad to hear. He looked like he had a lot of talent but seems to be the party type more. Ego problems.

Sucks the tag titles got vacated but I am surprised Briggs and Jensen won instead of Die Familie but we'll probably get a feud between them.
